Hubs got a table while she explained the lunch special to me. Lunch special options were fried catfish, grilled ham and roast beef with gravy. They were out of the roast beef and gravy, stewed potatoes and field peas and snaps. Other vegetables were pinto beans, collard greens, green beans, slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, white corn and diced peaches. The lunch special was a meat, 3 veggies, dessert and a drink. Dessert was out so we were given a choice of another vegetable or diced peaches. Both of us got 4 vegetables. Our foods were delivered to our table and they were excellent. There was so much food we weren't able to make a huge dent so we asked for to go boxes. Lunch specials on Sunday are $11. Awesome foods for a fair price. The fried catfish according to my husband was delicious and perfectly cooked. The collard greens they serve are the best we have had in north Alabama. There's a large parking lot so parking is easy enough and I walked right in to pickup at the hostess desk. The place is big inside and it was BUMPIN when I came in. Idk if that's a regular Saturday feature or if there was a special event going on, but the lights were turned down and the music was turned up and lots of people were eating, drinking, and laughing. Somewhat incongruously, the plasticware that came with my order in a packet included a knife and a spoon, but no fork. Fortunately the waffle was tender enough to cut with those, but I'm sure I looked silly spooning the waffle pieces to my mouth, lol. It was a tasty treat of a meal. The nilla wafer crumbles really helped deliver on the concept. The waffle had crispy edges and a soft interior and was a pretty golden brown. To be honest, the pudding part had a slightly artificial banana flavor to it that I didn't particularly care for, but the fresh sliced bananas and nilla wafers were good enough that I didn't really mind. If I'm nit-picking, I will probably say that $18 for a waffle, even with fancy toppings and accoutrements, is a little high for me, but I ultimately had a positive experience and would recommend it. They have a large menu filled with yummy sounding items and friendly service and I think I'd enjoy bringing friends here in the future.

The menu is somewhat limited, with basic breakfasts and lunches, to include omelets, biscuits, hamburgers, club sandwiches, etc. I like a simple menu done well. It was a little early for lunch, so I wound up ordering two scrambled eggs, which comes with biscuits and gravy or toast with grits. Any other side is basically a la carte, which isn't necessarily my preference but ultimately the pricing comes out to about the same as if you'd had a more extensive meal combination, so I suppose it works out nicely for those who want smaller, simpler breakfasts. I don't care for biscuits and gravy so I ordered toast and grits, then added on bacon and an order of hash browns. Sweet tea to drink. Three other patrons were inside, all seated at different tables but all conversing with each other rather loudly (and seemingly not eating anything??) the entire time I was there. The toast was cooked well but wound up a little soggy somehow. I don't like grits much but I gave these a try; they weren't bad as far as grits go. The bacon was cooked fairly well. The hash browns were my favorite part and were actually quite crispy, which is how I like them.
