Almost 1hr 45min with table and food wait(I was already on the waiting list since at home). Then you could tell everything out of the kitchen became sloppy like they just threw it on the plate. I got a Baja bowl and it was swimming in liquid like they couldn't bother to drain the rice or beans. Things happen and I think customers can get that but when people step out to eat and PAY for food I think they expect it to be good and honestly not watery. I'm typically a big fan of FW, but at this Southside location, we couldn't put two tables together for a party of 8 (not allowed). Our appetizer came in after our entrees. My avocado toast was refrigerator cold, definitely not fresh and unpleasant to eat cold toast with barely room temperature eggs. My daughter's crepes came at least 15 minutes after the rest of our food, so everyone was done eating by the time she got her meal. Disappointing and mismanaged service. This First Watch location recently opened and we decided to give it a try instead of our usual Sunday brunch spot. We have been to this restaurant multiple times and every time the food has been great but the service has been lackluster. Knowing that the restaurant just opened, we gave them the benefit of a doubt and visited a few more times before vowing to take our business elsewhere. At one visit, the server brought my dish and said my husband's would be along shortly. Almost 20 minutes later, my husband still had no food and no one had checked on us but the waitress brought the bill and wanted to know how our meal was. When my husband mentioned never having received his, she apologized profusely and brought his meal out right away. No matter how good the food is, if your service is terrible you'll loose customers. I hate giving bad reviews. I tried to give them the opportunity to fix it... But management did everything in their power to care as little as possible in this situation, so here we are now. Let me start off by saying I love the food at First Watch. LOVE IT. The juices are fresh and I looks that they showcase seasonal items so there is always something new to try. Those are my two stars. Everything else though was awful. As a restaurant manager from Scottsdale, AZ, I get that service is slower out here than it is on the west coast. But there are certain minimum standards that should be met. We had a party of 10 and showed up for brunch. We were told a wait time that was more or less on target, but what was NOT communicated is that we couldn't sit together. This was our friends last meal with us before he deploys overseas for 6 months. We explained this to the hostesses and "per management when they are on a wait they cannot switch tables". Okay... what? We were on the wait also. We were in line just like everyone else. This establishment has multiple areas where large parties could sit together. They sat 6 of us in a corner booth and the other 4 at a table diagonal from the booth. So I asked if we could switch tables (2 tables was fine) so we could sit next to each other. There were two options: 1 booth and a table right next to it, or 2 tables side by side. They gave us the booth and we decided it was better than being across the restaurant from each other. Next came the service. No coffee was brought after promising a new pot due to the other running out. No waters first thing. Waiter seemed impatient when my friend who is deaf did not confirm her order. In his words: Him: "you said side potatoes?" *no answer* Him: "okay great thanks" Then he ran off again. Shortly after, the other server started bringing the other tables food. We thought no way would they expo a 10 top separately, but here we were, waiting for our food while the other table (6 top) got theirs. Then, 3 of our 4 meals came out. Come to find out, only 5 meals hit the table at the 6 top. Now only 8 meals are here at two separate tables that all seemingly ordered together. What?! Okay, now I ask for the manager. Busboy grabs a gentleman who did not introduce himself but was wearing a chef coat. He asks me what the problem is. My question: why is your staff not explaining to you that there is an upset guest? I tell him that their staff is not communicating with the table. I tell him everything I have explained in this review this far. He tells me a server had lost a ticket in her pocket and didn't ring it in. Okay, what about our ticket at a separate table with a separate server? Oh, he didn't know about that one. Okay, tell a server to get the order and bring it out on the fly. It comes out shortly after he asks me "what he can do to make it better". No, you tell me what you'll do to make it better. I told him to tell his staff to communicate with the guest. He says he will, and then asks me to come find him again before he leaves. At this time, the 2 missing entrees come out. We eat them quickly because 8 of us are now finished with the meal. The servers bring the ticket, and those two entrees are still being charged. I told the server her manager needs to take those meals off. So she takes off a meal from someone else in our party- to make it worse, one of the meals missing was for our guest of honor. And he was given a ticket without his late food comped. Disaster start to finish. Hopefully someone at corporate sees this, if nothing else but to train the staff. Our friend left for his deployment today, so it's too little too late at this point. Hopefully their staff gets better for when he comes back and wants to give this place another try. read more

I liked that I could check in ahead of time on yelp. Upon arrival there was a lot of people waiting and empty tables that needed to be cleaned. Seemed like they need more help. I was sat by a leaking door and before I realized it half of my leg was wet. The fall special I received had much smaller portions than what I expected. The food was good. However, the young lady who refused to acknowledge us and everyone waiting behind us at the door for no less than 20 minutes and her subsequent rude behavior and tone upon seating us was beyond unacceptable. Our intent was to request to speak with a manager but we were never acknowledged by anyone else. The abrasive treatment from the hostess coupled with our table again not being acknowledged for another 5-8 minutes while watching this same young woman take the drink order of a table next to us who she sat after us was more than enough of a reason to leave this establishment. First watch is typically my go-to breakfast spot. If you check my previous reviews, I have left compliments in the past for this business at their South Florida location. This experience at the Southside Jacksonville location however will be my last. I was denied entry to indoor dining because my service animal "was not wearing a service vest". This is illegal and discriminatory. The hostess who denied me entry also "checked" with the manager who was also miseducated on the rights for persons with disabilities. The hostess told me that the manager said "that was their policy". I was forced to eat outside. Afterwards, our food took 45 minutes to reach the table (we ordered 2 omelettes) and we were continuously ignored by the only server who kept coming outside because "she was not our server". read more

We payed for extra salmon and one of the salmon Benedict's did not include the extra salmon. We thought they would take it out of the bill and they did not. I had lunch here with my dad when he was passing through on his way to North Carolina. We sat outside because he had our dog and the weather was a little chilly but it was okay. I had put our names on the list on the way there through yelp because it was a Sunday morning and I know this place gets busy for brunch. I don't think they had any servers scheduled for outside because it was first come first serve tables and the table we sat at was dirty for a while before anyone even came to greet us. Eventually a girl came out and took the dirty plates and cups away and asked if we were ready to order. I, of course, wanted to make modifications to my order and she made it happen for me which was really nice. She checked back on us a few times but not as many as I would have liked. Not that I needed anything particularly but my dad had run out of coffee twice and if I did need something my food would have been cold by the time I got it. She was very polite and had a good attitude despite how busy they were and the food was great. My partner had the Market Veg Omelette and she added avocado inside it. I've eaten at First Watch many times before at other locations for breakfast/brunch and this is my first time eating lunch at this particular location. What I can say is that they have very limited options for lunch. I ended up getting a "2 For You" item, 1/2 a sandwich and 1/2 order of soup and the meal was good but the amount of food was not enough for me. This location looks great, new, clean and neat except that when I went to the restroom the first time there was no paper towels. We also had to wait for our food longer than normal which is unusual because the place was not busy. Our server also did not do her job very well. She did not come back to ask us if we needed more water or something else. read more

This was my first time at a First Watch and I was quite pleased. My wife is allergic to gluten and dairy and it's nice to go to a restaurant where you aren't treated like a burden when you have that request but also the gluten free toast is available at no extra charge. Both of our breakfasts were very good, price is slightly higher than what you would pay at other breakfast chains but the price is definitely worth the food here. I have been to this location twice now and both times, super slow service. The restaurant wasn't even busy yet over 20 mins for a salad?! I've gotten the Cobb salad each time and did make modifications and it was correct both times, so that's a plus. I just can't get over how long it took. I love first watch but this is my favourite one. The staff is always friendly and fast. The last time my family visited we had the girl with the tye dye bandana and she really went out of her way for us.
