I want to give t his place more stars because of the concept, location, descent breakfast/brunch menu and decor...but there are issues. My waitress hands me my menu and while talking to her about breakfast drinks (which were good) my menu flew off the table and landed on the floor a few tables away. She just looked at me. I made a joke about dropping things and she just stood there. Realizing quickly that she wasn't even willing to assist me, I climbed off of my stool and grabbed the menu. While this wasn't her responsibility...it's just good customer service to help! Not stare!! Next...my beverage comes out. Yay...the Pineapple cooler was good, but HUGE ISSUE. She has her entire hand and fingers wrapped around the rim of the whole glass. SOOOO GROSS. That's waitressing #1. I asked for a straw and she then proceeded to bring a glass for my waiter the exact same way. It's just nasty. The food was mediocre at best. I HONESTLY could have gone to Denny's, Silver Diner or iHop for cheaper better food. Everything came out cold, hard, and very underwhelming. Even my scrambled eggs weren't scrambled. It was a fried egg that had been cut up...huh?!?! My waitress never checked on me after she dropped the food off. Instead 15 minutes later, she dropped off my check and said "whenever you're ready." Thanks for asking. As I'm typing this, I'm listening to two other customers comment on how their food isn't cold and the lack of flavor. Food is fresh, simple and healthy at a moderate price... breakfast for two (just coffee/water) plus tip typically cost about $35. Definitely take advantage of their seasonal menu and unlimited coffee! Location / Convenience 4/5: It is located directly across from Harris Teeter and next to Noodles & Company. There are plenty of parking spaces however, waiting area is very limited. BUT you can join the waiting list so you can manage your time better. The entrance, where you check in (to get into the waiting list) and pay for your food, can get crowded. Service 4/5: All the staff are friendly however, it is a hit-or-miss if you get the attentive one. There are a couple of times we have to ask for a refill of water. Went there for lunch and will go back again. The food was good. I especially love the fact that during this Covid season that were cleaning ,sweeping floors constantly. Our server was friendly . I have been hearing about First Watch for a few years now, and wanted to know what all the hype is about. Since restaurant in Bowie is always so crowded Saturday mornings with a long waiting line, I have not had the opportunity to experience it's cuisine. The opportunity came one weekday morning as I was leaving an appointment. I Yelped a breakfast restaurant near me and the one in Laurel popped up one mile away. I am so glad it did. This is an okay place to get some breakfast. The wait is not terribly long, food selections are okay and the staff is nice.

I came here hoping to get some good food. Service was good the gentlemen with dreds was nice. When asked about best options he wasn't the most giving cause he liked everything. But he did tell me what his favorite. Overall service was fine. This is my first time here, have to say not a place I come again soon. I got the Acapulco express no chorizo sausauge no avocado. I asked do they have turkey sausage, he said yes. What I got was a 45 min wait for an omelette with precooked sausage cut in slices. And a little salsa and sour cream. The sour cream couldn't even be considered a dollop and that's a shame. Like I said service was fine, he got me more sour cream and salsa. The omelette menu said it would be caramelized onions. They weren't honestly I'd say they barely touched the heat. I got potatoes. Didn't realize it came with it or I would have asked for fruit instead. They turned cold as soon as the air was hitting them. Tried to eat them but they were just cold and not that good. Not bad just not good enough that I would have stuffed my face with cold potatoes. Lastly, the I juice bar options. I got the day glow. Good. But note if you get it without ice they put in a small glass. That is definitely a size difference then if you get ice. Ginger not that present. Overall okay place. Put this in my maybe in a few months pile not something I'll crave for later. SMILE! read more

The atmosphere was really cute and clean. I ordered their elote corn hash and it was a bit on the salty side for me. I like to taste different ingredients, but I couldnt taste the corn at all due to it being very heavily seasoned - to be fair, the dish did have chorizo in it, and i know it's supposed to be salty. i'll probably come back at least one more time when i'm in the area. read more

Really a 3.5. I love that they have an extensive menu, but had to remove some "points" for the following reasons: - It took forever for our food to come. Yes, it is busy on weekends, but it had cleared out a bit by the time we were seated so it seemed longer than necessary - I got the shrimp and grits and felt like it was missing some kind of sauce/liquid. Without it it felt a bit bland. It also came with a piece of bread that seemed to have no spread/butter/seasoning/flavor Also, they don't take reservations, but they have an app that allows you to put your name on the waiting list (and tells you what time to come which is a plus). The food here is always wonderful and fresh. However, today the service was horrible. The online ordering system needs to be revamped. I ordered my food online at 845am. My confirmatory email indicated it would be ready by 9:15am. Unfortunately, it was not. I waited outside and inside for 30 minutes. I asked a waitress what the status was and instead of just checking, she explained the ordering system was delayed and never checked for my order. I picked up my food at 9:50am, despite the email stating it would be ready at 9:15. Many other people were waiting outside and we all appeared to be highly frustrated and disappointed in First Watch. I know the pandemic has created inconveniences, but you guys really need to do better. My food was excellent but not worth the wait. I have to say I agree with many other reviews I've seen about First Watch. My wife and I wanted a new "local" place to eat good food. The menu sounds amazing but in reality the food is "just okay." It is nice to leave and not feel bloated from 'diner' food. The meal options are good. The restaurant has nice decor, clean and the staff were mostly friendly. The fact that there isn't anything else around like this place for breakfast has caused chaos in trying to get a table and not having to wait an hour or two. You definitely need to go to their website and use the sign-up ahead of time system or you won't be getting a seat without a really long wait. read more

I love First Watch. I've tried a couple of sandwiches from here but I have to say my favorite go to is the Roast beef and Havarti sandwich. It's made with Horseradish Havarti, house roasted onions and tomato with lemon dressed arugula on grilled Parmesan crusted sourdough with Horseradish sauce on the side. You can't go wrong with this sandwich. Then I wash it down with a Kale tonic fresh juice which has kale, Fuji apple, cucumber and lemon. Such a refreshing beverage. First of all I love first watch. Their food is great and fresh! However this location needs help. They tend to care more about the open table or no wait apps verses the people there. Those apps are great but however if you tell me that who ever is in front of me on the app hasn't shown up or checked in that I have to wait on them to even show up is kinda ridiculous. Waited about a good hour being told twice that we'd be seated next. Watched as every one who used the app got seated except us. Told multiple times to use the community table however that was crowded as well. Seems like this location cared more about the turn around times, the customers who used the app and making people wait. Don't judge a book by its cover and serve everyone equally. App or no app, at least be honest about the wait times and not who comes through the door. They added more people to their wait list than actually seating the people who were there. Watched about 5-6 groups get up and leave. Relying on technology is the way to go apparently. Get the app don't go and waste your time. read more

I was in the mood for a really good breakfast today. So I searched for a close place in the vicinity of the town I would be doing some shopping in, which turned out to be laurel Maryland. I found this little gem named first watch and Noel my waitress was pretty cool and hip. I wasn't sure about what to order this being my first time so she suggested the trifecta and something else that I didn't want but was appreciative for the suggestions. She offered me water and coffee to which I took the water. They serve the water in this cool milk container you would find on a farm and what man doesn't like drinking out of a strange apparatus!?! Needless to say I was at home and ready to get some work done. Unfortunately the WiFi was kind of subpar and sad so I just used my phone to yelp! I ended up ordering the avocado toast with some eggs over easy the eggs were alright but the toast was the star of this dish! My first bite was life changing and I don't remember anything after that because it was all over I demolished that plate of food and I was pleasantly pleased with the outcome! I have been to a few First Watch locations in the past (on week days) but this particular Saturday, my fiancé and I were told that it was going to be over a 90 minute wait. We decided to stick it out because it seemed like a lot of open tables were going to be cleared off and it would speed the line up. After 45 minutes we were seated at a table that was open (still with dirty plates from the last person) when we initially walked in. At any given time there were 3-5 tables empty that needed to be bussed but no one was doing it. I over heard a few people in line comment about the same thing. This was my second time going to First Watch (my first time was at the Rockville location). The ambiance was very chill and since the other two people I came with had never been there before, the food selections were plentiful and everything was so very appetizing. Our server, Kyia, was 100% one of the best servers I have had when eating out. (and I'm a server myself). She suggested beverages, aside from water, that would jump start our day, and when the food came out, everything was just delicious and so very presentable. I definitely would recommend this breakfast spot, for breakfast, for brunch and even a late lunch since the hours are until 2:30pm. Very friendly staff and our server? Very friendly, great at customer service and she was smiling from when she took us to our table, to when she closed out our check. After all of the rave about First Watch I wanted to see for myself if this place was that good. I have to say it met my expectations and then some! My sister and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning at around 10. We had to wait 5 to 10 minutes before being seated, which was okay because it showed how busy and popular this restaurant was. In addition, we were given the opportunity to make ourselves some complimentary coffee as we wait and the coffee actually tasted good. After we were seated, we asked our waiter of what was good and he gave us his top 4 favorites. We went with his top 2 favorites the Chickichanga and the Parma Hash. We also ordered two juices; the Day Glow and the Kale Tonic. The Kale Tonic was much better than expected and in my opinion was better than the Day Glow. The Kale Tonic was good; it wasn't too bitter and it wasn't too sweet. The Day Glow was not that pleasing to the taste buds but you can definitely tell that it was very healthy and good for you. Both the Chickichanga as well as the Parma Hash was very delicious and satisfying. They both came with sides of fruit and potatoes. I would recommend getting these two meals, especially if it is your first time at First Watch. I will for sure be back here again! read more

I don't come here frequently but the times that I do, it's pretty great stuff. I love the seasonal foods they have, especially for winter/fall. (The best waffles!) With that being said, I was excited to go back again. My mom, boyfriend, and I went here for brunch today and it was delicious. Not only was it really yummy, but the breakfast entrees were priced well. Their juices weren't priced as well as their entrees, so just keep that in mind. However, I had no issue "splurging" on the juice since the entrees were inexpensive. My boyfriend got the Chickichanga and loved it - I would order the sauce on the side though because their salsa is better than the sauce it comes with. I got the Key West Crepeggs and thought it was really yummy, but their crepes could be better (still yummy though!). My mom got the Breakfast scramble and loved it. We left, and were not questioned as to why we were leaving after the hostess noticed us departing and had a confused look on her face. I explained that no one ever came to our table, so we were leaving. We were offered no apology. Additionally, patrons were being told it was a 45 min-an hour wait, and while we were seated (we had plenty of time to look around while we were ignored) we noticed at least 5-7 open tables. I give 3 1/2 stars. The food was normal, the service was okay, and the food came out slower than expected, the portion size was smaller than I thought too for the price. What blew me away was the over the top wait time. Maybe because it was Sunday at 11:30am? We used the app to get in line but still ended up waiting for close to two hours to get seated. The good thing for this restaurant is its location. There are many shops nearby to browse while we wait for a text for our spot. By the time we check out, it was 2:32 pm! 2 minutes pass their close time. I don't know if I will return to this location since the wait time was so long. I had been meaning to visit this place for a while and I finally got a chance to. I'm always looking for great breakfast/brunch restaurants. While the food was what I expected the service wasn't the best. I went on a Saturday morning and waited on my table for more than 45 minutes because I never got the text saying my table was ready. Our waitress not once checked back on us after our food came but we definitely saw her go to her other tables. I never got my water that I had asked for in the beginning until I asked another server to bring it to me and the glass bottle was dirty. Lastly my food was wrong and couldn't even have her take it back since we waited so long for it and she nowhere near to get her attention. I was so hungry I just ended up eating what I got.
