I took my friend here before she moved and honestly it was super good. Their plates are very big. Their a bit princely, but honestly the food tasted so homely and fresh that I wasn't even mad. Having heard much hype about First Watch, we finally came to give it a try Sunday afternoon. They were quite busy, but seemed to have a lot of people working so we only waited like 10 minutes for a table. Now, let me start off by saying I'm very picky when it comes to eggs; I don't like them mixed or covered with much. Therefore, upon looking through the menu and not seeing much that appealed to me, I settled on Biscuits and Turkey Sausage gravy w/ a side of Cheesy Grits. My wife ordered Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. After about 20 minutes (of which we never saw our waiter, except for him to go ahead and bring our check) they bring her eggs by themselves, then 5 minutes later my food comes. They tell my wife it'll be a few more minutes for her pancakes... which turns to another 10 minutes or so. In the meantime I've been eating since I don't want food to get cold. Unfortunately, my food wasn't very good. The biscuit was overdone and crispy on the bottom. The potatoes were not cooked through, and the grits must have been sitting in a warmer for awhile because they were thick and had a crust on the bottom. My wife's pancakes were alright, but they were stingy with the sauce that goes on top. Another waitress comes by to check on us and I ask for my only refill and tell her of our issues. She offers to have some other food made but it's now closing time so I feel not worth the wait. They wind up not charging us anything, which I never expected but appreciate the gesture. In conclusion, I would say First Watch over-promised and under-delivered. Definitely not impressed and wouldn't go back. read more

Been to this location twice now and both times they have not disappointed. I like this location alot more for a couple of reasons. 1. It's closer to the house and 2. The wait is NO WAY as long as the other location in St. Mathews. Great food, reasonably priced, good customer service and the food comes out in a timely matter. I've visited a couple first watch locations but the Louisville Highlands location feels like home to me! Each location is consistent in the quality of food and staff, so you can't go wring, no matter where you visit! My go-to order is the Breakfast Tacos! I'm a firm believer that a taco a day makes a girl very happy, so if you wanna get you daily taco in early, these are a great option! The tacos themselves are delicious, but the side of black beans that is served with them are a game changer. I usually add some beans to my tacos and east some on the side as well! First Watch nearly always has a separate menu of seasonal specials and you absolutely should not overlook these options! On my most recent visit I ordered the Salmon Toast - think NYC bagels and lox on THICC wheat toast with avocado and other yumminess. It was wonderful! read more

There were a few of us who went here during lunch one day. I tried the choose 2 and went with the Chicken Cobb Salad and wedding soup. When the waitress brought out our food, my moth began to water as I seen everyone's meals. The portions are well worth the cost, and the food has such beautiful presentation. My salad was packed full of flavor and very filling. My soup, in my opinion, was only subpar. I realized I am not a big fan of wedding soup. Two other people ordered it, and only 1 liked it. I'm still giving this place a 5 star because of their customer service, the food presentation, the taste of my salad, and the high praise from the others at the table. I love this location! It was my first time but it was so clean and just refreshing! They have a beautiful mural on the outside of their building and the food is great. Our server was super nice and very helpful. The group that I was with felt bad because we kept running her and didn't mean to but she was exceptional. The staff overall are great too! Their seasonal drink is a watermelon type and it tastes so fresh. The coffee was great as other locations in the area and the parking situation is great too, especially being in the highlands. My first time here after several recommendations from friends. And they earn my recommendation. Yes it is a chain (like Wild Eggs), and they're good like Wild Eggs. Great food! The bacon and avocado omelet was new (to me) and outstanding. Toast on fresh wheat bread was much better than expected. The potatoes were a little undercooked - perhaps because of the Mother's Day crush. Eggs over easy were done right and the blueberry pancake was as good as it gets. Coffee, tea, and OJ also met the mark. Despite the crowd, the service was outstanding from stepping in the door and being met by a tablet toting team member through or meal with Travis, and finally checkout - you pay on your way out - everyone was friendly, efficient, and fun. And it was really hectic! Lots of parking. Industrial decor. Very clean (it's new at this location). I had the SMOKED SALMON TZATZIKI TOAST...Wild Alaska Smoked Sockeye Salmon atop our whole grain artisan toast with tzatziki cream cheese, English cucumbers, radish, red onion, Feta and fresh dill. Served with two basted cage-free eggs. I'm not sure how many times I can say, "this was amazing!" First off, let me say, I usually try to stay away from chains. First Watch came to Louisville a couple years ago with this location opening this year. I kept saying no but my Dad loves it. We went for brunch on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and had zero wait for 3 of us. Very cool menu with a huge selection of just about everything. They also offer flavored/seasonal creamers for coffee. I'd definitely come back to this place. Yes, it's a chain BUT the interior doesn't look or feel like it. Nice work First Watch. He said it was very good oatmeal not slimy like at some places. Our daughter enjoyed the Trifecta with scrambled eggs and waffle. When we got there we went in to pickup and were told they would bring it out. 25 minutes after the posted pickup time, and past my patience point, I went in a second time to check. This is my second time going to First Watch it did not disappoint. This place usually always has a wait which should be a giveaway for how good it is and it's worth it! We were seated right away and the place has a cool modern meets home comfort vibe to it. I also read somewhere that everything they have is made fresh and delivered in the morning so they provide the next level for their costumers. I ordered the chickenchanga because I loved it so much the first time I did. It's basically a fried egg and chicken burrito smothered in a creamy cheese sauce, basically meaning that it is heavenly. You have the option of fruit, their insanely delicious seasoned potatoes and another side that I can't remember but go with the seasoned potatoes, each bite is so delicious. My sister ordered their seasonal cornbread carinita roll which she substituted the carnita for the seasoned cajun chicken (something you can do if you don't eat pork) and her dish was also delicious but just not as tasty as I expected. My friends ordered the famous hash and frittata rustica which they both loved their meals. My sister and I also shared the kale tonic smoothie which is one of my favorites since its the perfect balance of healthy with a little bit of sweetness. I did enjoy my time here more the first time I went since the meal size was a lot larger but it's still a great place to eat.
