    Blueberry Lemon Cornbread

First watch, never fails to let us down, no matter the location. Always consistent service consistent food and we always leave happy and full! Some of the best coffee you can have at a restaurant. A huge variety of delicious treats for breakfast/lunch you won't be disappointed.

They emailed me a BOGO coupon so obviously we had to go! We were quickly seated and given menus, the new fall menu items looked really tasty. My partner ordered the Honey Chipotle Chicken Mash from the fall menu and I ordered the Chickichanga. The chipotle chicken mash was tasty, I didn't care for the lemon sauce on top of my dish. I love lemon unfortunately I felt like the sauce took over. My favorite breakfast, well no but it's solid and they have a large menu making it easy for everyone to find something they like. Service was good as well!

Went on a Thursday morning and they had availability. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of seats inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of parking in their own parking lot. Staff was friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed the carne asada breakfast tacos from their seasonal menu.

    Trifecta with waffle.

As a rewards member getting a buy one get one free entree for your birthday is a bonus. Service is always pleasant and courteous. My wife and I both opted for the Trifecta with eggs over medium, pancake(waffle for me), and roasted potatoes rather than a choice of meat. This was the first time I had a waffle there. It was surprisingly light and fluffy. Perhaps a little more of the jam would have been better. Overall, it was a good experience.

Please see attached. We had an awful experience with our steak and eggs orders for my son and I. Don't order.

This is a great place for a simple delicious meal with family, friends or just by yourself. I recommend a Morning Meditation drink with your meal.

Good and always consistent! You'll always get a slightly elevated breakfast experience here, and the food is always of quality, fresh, and very well presented. The staff here are very friendly, quick, and caring. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is very modern, and pretty averaged sized in scale to other brunch restaurants![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First Watch is a well executed and enjoyable breakfast and lunch spot! Everyone at First Watch seems happy to be working there, which is always a good sign. They have a huge selection of items on the menu. The orders come out quickly and are prepared consistently. My favorite dishes are the omelettes. The omelettes are served with a small salad and toast. This option makes me happy to have a more healthy meal and fewer calories. The meals are very reasonably priced for a restaurant with table service. My goal is to try every omelette on the menu! There is plenty of free parking surrounding the restaurant. The entrance is very obviously located near the street with the host station just inside the entrance. They can get busy so I do recommend downloading there mobile app to get a place in line before you arrive. Be sure to sign up online so you can get discount offers. A few times during the year they offer discount gift cards as well.

See, the thing with First Watch is that I know because I can see the containers in their kitchen, that most of their staples come out of a can or a box. I mean the juice is not freshly squeezed, the veggies might be prepackaged, and so on. But the deal is that I don't have the time nor the inclination to crack my own eggs and have to clean the kitchen and dishes afterward, so I get an even exchange here, I pay for time and convenience. The food is just an amenity. We appreciate the good service.

Daughter chose French Toast which was generous portion and delicious

Took the family and my 3 kids to First watch for Sunday "Brunch." We use to live in St Louis and always loved going for the delicious food, great service and always busy which is a good sign. My kids had pancakes and French toast. My wife and I ate the healthy options; egg white omelette and skillet item. Large portions and was hot when served. We were under no rush and enjoyed our time since my daughter was visiting us from St Louis. We've also tried the First on Breckenridge Lane and that one is more busy due to its highly traffic area.

Ask the Community - First Watch

Have they opened an outdoor seating area at the Highlands location?

I don't want to tell you something wrong but they had tables set up in the parking lot. I was there a couple of weeks ago and I paid absolutely no attention to whether or not it was still there.

How long is your average visit? From arrival to departure?

It really depends on when you arrive. If there's a long wait before you're seated and they're busy, you could be there 2 - 2.5 hours. If there's no wait, you could be in and out in an hour or less.

Does this place have outside seating?

    No!

When we came here we did not realize that Proof on Main is a not only a wonderful restaurant/bar but also a 24/7 free museum. You can order drinks and then walk through the exhibits. We just opted to eat breakfast first. As soon as you enter, you are standing in a colorful and fun art museum. The walls are adorned with many different types of art from living artists. The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Everything is so unique and I tried to capture a fair amount of it in photographs and information about the piece as well. This too should be a must visit if your in the Louisville area. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
