I visited with co-workers for lunch and we were seated right away. Coffee came quick and we opted for a blueberry lemon cornbread to share. Delicious! Our entrees took a long while to come out which is the only negative to our visit. Had we been on a tighter deadline I would've worried about us getting to the next meeting. My trifecta breakfast was made as ordered. Overhead eggs and crispy bacon with a pancake. My co-workers ate their full plates too. Service was friendly and attentive. The space was full and it got quite loud, which I don't remember during previous visits. Definitely have to raise your voice to be heard. Waitlist available on their website. Super smart to use this during the weekend.

    Pumpkin donuts

I can't believe it's taken me so long to eat at a First Watch. They seem to be popping up all over, and I can finally say I get why. I was very impressed with the food, service and pricing. I met a friend at the Middletown First Watch for Saturday brunch, and despite a packed parking lot and several people waiting for tables, our wait was only 10 minutes or so. And we were able to get a table on their small patio. So much on the menu looked delicious, but I ended up going with a couple of items on its seasonal menu: the pumpkin spiced donuts and the short rib omelette. These donuts were more like donut holes and were such a great taste of fall. They also came with salted caramel apple butter and crème anglaise dipping sauces. Between my friend and I, there wasn't a donut hole left at the end of the meal. My omelette included red wine-braised beef short ribs, house-roasted shallots and Crimini mushrooms, fresh spinach and Mozzarella cheese, topped with Parmesan cream sauce and fresh herbs. The meat was cooked perfectly, along with the eggs. I would get this again. I also got some bacon on the side ... 'cause brunch ... and coffee ... also 'cause brunch. Our service was fast, and my bill came to just about $20 -- pretty affordable for brunch. I'm looking forward to more First Watch brunches in the future.

    Market Veggie and cobb salad

Visiting family from out of town and we decided to try first watch for our lunch get-together. We arrived around 45 mins earlier but the waitress was so nice and let us sit and wait without pressuring us. We had a great time at first watch, we got the coffee carafe for both regular coffee and the decaf and could drink to our heart's desire. The bacon corn bread was really really yummy. Slightly sweet, crispy on the outside and soft inside. It was perfectly done and I would definitely order this again. My bf order the power breakfast bowl with scramble egg. He felt that it's a bit dry and would have benefited from some more olive oil. But considering that this is supposed to be a healthy low calories dish, I think it's not surprising that it's on the drier side. I order the 2 for you deal, you pick two out of 3 options, 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad or a bowl of soup. I got the market veggie and cobb salad. It was PERFECT. The sandwich was really really tasty, it has house-roasted crimini mushrooms, zucchini and spinach with basil pesto, mayo and Mozzarella on grilled artisan whole grain. Everything about it was really good. Definitely will have to order this again. The salad was what you'd expect of a cobb salad. Solid and fresh veggie. I was very happy that we chose to go to First Watch. Very happy with the food we got there and the hospitality of the staff.

There was a lot of food. Too much to finish in one sitting for two people

I went out to eat with a friend of mine who is very particular. She cooks at home most of the time because she eats very healthy natural foods. This was the perfect place for the two of us to go. There are a lot of very healthy options. There are several Juice drinks. Everything is made to order on site. Everything is very fresh They were very cognizant of social distancing and cleanliness because of COVID. The staff was still very friendly and engaging. The server made sure to come check on us several times without ever being intrusive.

You may not think of ordering oatmeal when you go out to eat. But this dish is amazing. The way they plate oatmeal to look like fine dining is beautiful. One of my favorite breakfast spots. Will be back again.

Service was good. Food was pretty good too. I ordered the Sunny Seoul Hash. Nice flavoring. It does have the feel of a chain restaurant but I would return.

Breakfast was so tasty! A good variety of kicked up traditional choices-million dollar bacon and multi grain blueberry or carrot cake pancakes. A great combo: eggs, Belgian waffle and sausage with warm blueberry compote. Our waitperson was super friendly and attentive!

***** SERVICE: Mr. Dre greeted us at the door making us feel welcomed & made our entrance like "coming home". He thoughtfully looked out for us too, backed up our server by bringing us a bag for the take-home boxes. Promote him to manager if he's not already! The meals were served in a timely manner too. **** $12.50 (aprx) BLT BENEDICT: Taste: HEAVENLY!!! Crisp bacon. Bearnaise sauce tasted homemade with a hint of fresh lemon. Tomato slices & fresh avocado slice added to the flavor. HASH BROWN POTATOES: ample in quantity, and tasty with smothered onion. BREAD: Not the standard English muffins. Aprx 6.5" Long, x 3" Wide x 1/2"High toast--less bread than the typical English muffins. Would return for only this entrée, again & again, except for the price. PRICE: Disappointing. *** $12.50? "Bacado Omelet" (BACON AVOCADO OMELET): multi grain toast, about 3/4" thick. Taste: Acceptable. Price: Disappointing. Would not order again. * $7.49 Child's Chocolate Chip PANCAKE, 1 single pancake, aprx 8.5"D x 1/2"H, with chocolate chips: Crumbled when cutting it into bite sizes. Recommend better batter (perhaps less egg?) The EGG, nicely cooked as ordered over-easy. The SYRUP & COLOR CRAYONS & coloring menu were great! PRICE: Disappointing.

When we came here we did not realize that Proof on Main is a not only a wonderful restaurant/bar but also a 24/7 free museum. You can order drinks and then walk through the exhibits. We just opted to eat breakfast first. As soon as you enter, you are standing in a colorful and fun art museum. The walls are adorned with many different types of art from living artists. The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Everything is so unique and I tried to capture a fair amount of it in photographs and information about the piece as well. This too should be a must visit if your in the Louisville area. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
