Maybe I haven't found the right dish for me yet, but so far everything has only been okay. Nothing special or memorable (I couldn't tell you what I had last time we went!). A lot of items to choose from, and the seasonal options always receive a thumb's up at any restaurant that offers them, but not even those taste as good I expect them to, given the descriptions. June 27, 2017: I have since been back and had both breakfast and lunch here. Still not as impressed with the breakfast items (pancakes were on the drier side, bacon and eggs on the greasy side for me, but my husband enjoyed his omelet); however, our lunch was great. I am extremely picky when it comes to where I eat. I wouldn't say I am food snob but I look at Yelp before I attend any restaurant. I was hesitant to come to first watch because I did not care for the good egg but I am so happy I did! This place has become a staple for my Saturday mornings! Great service. Great food! They have a service on their website to place your party on a waiting list. Wait time was very short, about 10 minutes. Classic breakfast was filling and nice size portions. The bacon was a hit! Cheesy grits were cheesy something I prefer. Service was fast! Our waitress Kara was friendly, warm, and took great care to give us impeccable customer service. Prices were reasonable. Restaurant including the restrooms were clean. Consistently tasty, fresh food--avocado toast is my hands down favorite--with friendly service. Not always the most efficient, but we've never had to wait unduly and the few times our order has been mixed up staff took care of the items gratis. Nice, laid back atmosphere. read more

Visited this restaurant many times. Food is very good; however, they must be stingy on staffing the place. Restaurant, especially outside seating, is dirty with many dishes left on the table. Today, my shoe bottom became caked from food that was left under the table. We also had to wait 15 minutes to sit outside because the manager indicated that tables needed to be cleaned. Not sure why the other staff member standing next to the manager did not help. Kitchen is slow and orders are not filled correctly on many occasions (about 1/3 of the time). Was hesitant to try this restaurant as the previous iteration (with a different name) did not have a very good reputation. However, decided to give it a try today around 9 a.m. Service was very good. Greeter seated us promptly and the waiter brought coffee/water soon after that and took our orders quickly. I tried the Trifecta with bacon, over easy eggs and a Belgian waffle. Very, very good! Eggs were cooked perfectly with some fresh herbs sprinkled on top, waffle had perfect amount of butter placed in center and confectioner's sugar sprinkled over, bacon was perfectly cooked (crisp, but not overly done). The coffee was slightly weak (I drink mine black so that is not as much of an issue), but anyone adding cream to it might be disappointed. Hubby ordered the Traditional breakfast with pork sausage links. This is where the food didn't hold up with regards to preparation. His `scrambled eggs' were more like fried eggs which had been diced up, the sausage was barely warm, the potatoes were blackened on one side (rather than golden brown) and some weren't browned at all; the other side was like uncooked (grilled on 1 side only). The artisanal bread itself was good, but, it was supposed to be toast (and it wasn't)--it was basically warm bread with butter slathered on it, probably microwaved to warm it up. Hubby says if you order toast, maybe suggest they toast it. Customer service was very excellent. Recommend trying with the above caveats. (Overall 3 stars for food; bumped up to 4 stars due to customer service done right.) read more

I called Friday Morning to place an order for Avocado Toast and Small OJ To-Go. The lady on the phone was super polite and friendly. She told me it would take about 5-10 mins. I show up at the place saying I had an order to go. A gentleman immediately went to the back to check on my order. A lady brought it all out and I was on my way. All good things so far. I got to my office ready to eat my avocado toast really excited since this was a special treat to start my morning. I opened the container with my meal only find 2 over easy eggs. My mood instantly dropped from excited to complete frustration. I was pissed - I didn't pay $15 (meal plus a tip) to just get 2 eggs. I had to drive back from work - waste my time because I was at this point late for work and overcharged if I got just 2 eggs. I should have got all my money back and just left the meal but instead I gave them the opportunity to make it right. They gave me toast and the same eggs (now cold at this point). I went back to work ate a few bites of my cold breakfast and was done from being so frustrated Happy Friday. This special treat was a disaster and I feel like I didn't get my money's worth. Tara definitely provided us with excellent customer service and was able to get my breakfast dish which was all switched around, to come out perfect from the kitchen! I love the atmosphere and vibe here, so different from the Florida locations. Of course you can't beat the view! We will most certainly visit again. read more

We have been there three times,hoping for it to be better after the name change. Very disappointed with coffee,service and the taste of food. Portions were ok, but food was just warm. All three times orders were messed up,either they were not paying attention or did not care. Liked the Good Egg menu alot better and the choice of coffee. The new decor is very nice but does not make up for the service or food. The biscuits with turkey sasuage was utterly tasteless. We would go two or three times a week when in town, that won"t happen anymore. Sorry to be so disappointed as it is close to home. I will miss the place, Do not plan on going back. I feel like the best measure of a restaurant is not when things go well, but when something bad happens or when a mistake is made. We came here for breakfast, we're told we would have a 10-15 min wait. After about 25 min I frustratedly asked what was going on. It was evident that a mistake was made by the look on the hostess' face. Here's where the 5 star rating comes in: the amount of care she showed for us afterward. She had us sit back down to wait, but she was actively searching for anywhere to put us. She brought us water and came to tell us the meal would be on the restaurant. Shortly thereafter we had a table. My wife and I both order water, but we order milk for my 2 year old son. Sadly, they were out, so we order lemonade for him. A few minutes go by, and out comes the lemonade, but he sets down another cup with it saying they ran out real quick to pick up some milk for him. I was flabbergasted. The meal was delicious, (try their millionaire's bacon, it is heavenly) and the staff was extremely nice. I feel so well taken care of. Thank you first watch! read more

Great for brunch! I have not eaten in-house yet but recently ordered takeout for pickup. I don't understand the negative rating, as everything was delicious and fresh. The freshly squeezed orange juice is particularly awesome. As far as the person complaining about the olive oil/canola oil issue, it's been a trendy new thing for people to consider the supposedly quality of a cooking oil in lieu of it's smoke point. Heated past its smoke point, fat in food starts to break down, releasing free radicals and a substance called acrolein, the chemical that gives burnt foods their acrid flavor and aroma. Technically, olive oil is healthier for items such as salads and sauces, but for sausages or fried potatoes, it is actually BETTER to use canola oil. The best and most recommended healthy oil for cooking is of course, avocado oil, which is healthier like olive oil, but unlike coconut and olive oil which both turn into a carcinogen when used for cooking, avocado oil has a smoke point of up to 500 degrees. Please do your research before throwing local businesses under the bus :) read more

This restaurant changed from The Good Egg to First Watch. In our opinion many of the changes are unfavorable. The chairs at the table are hard as rocks and very uncomfortable. The food is OK but some of the changes we personally don't like. They took a fruit and nut oatmeal breakfast and turned it in to a tiny bowl of oatmeal now served with a ridiculously unhealthy muffin. The salads went in the wrong direction in our opinion as well. read more

Went here on Sunday at 1230 and was able to sit fairly quickly. The service was awesome - prompt with everything we asked for. My sister and I shared the quinoa protein bowl and the lemon curd pancakes --- both were delicious - and the portion was more than enough. We also had the kale tonic which was very tasty. I liked the décor - everything was clean and fresh looking. All in all - it was a great choice for brunch. Will definitely return. read more

So here is the deal...the food is pretty good. Lots of vegetarian options but not many vegan choices. Mostly a breakfast/brunch place. But....plan on spending some time. Very nice surprise. Went in for breakfast but it was very pricy so we split the turkey club & soup. Plenty to eat for two & very fresh & delicious. We ordered salads, and mine was listed as "avocado". When it came, there were just 3 thin slices of avocado on top. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said that all ingredients were weighed out and regulated by the ounce by "corporate". I felt the size of the salad was small, considering the price was over $10. Also, the flavors weren't that remarkable to want to go back. Oro Valley has much better breakfast and salad restaurants. read more
