i love the food and service here. everytime i come here to eat the servers never stop being nice and going above and beyond. the ambiance is amazing for a quiet retreat when you just want to relax. the only reason why i give this restaurant a 4 star is because even after many years of eating here, their bathrooms have always smelled horrible. i know they try, and they definitely keep the restrooms clean. the issue i believe is deep in the plumbing. but other then that my favourite place to eat. read more

This place was not busy at 530 in the evening when we stopped for dinner. The reason I gave them this score that I did is because half our meal was finished before my husband's sourdough toast made it out to the table. I have shared the photographs of the lip marks on my cup. Which is interesting, seeing, as I was drinking from the straw. Makes me wonder how well their stuff gets washed? So very disappointed. I thought i would drive down from the far NE side- i normally love this place and it had been a while since I'd gone for breakfast so off I went. Its Easter so I figured it would be busy... I check in put my name down - the bench was full so I went outside. .. they said about 20mins. So I'm watching videos on my phone, people are coming and going its been a while so after the last group of three came in I went in and watched them get taker directly TO A TABLE!!!?? WTF?? I was invisible. Totally bull village inn- totally bull. Happy effing Easter! I'll never go outta my way to come to you again... pretty sad for a chain that has had to close all the other Tucson locations. Do better. read more

Pre-ordered pies 2 days in advance. When i arrived to pick-up, I was advised one of the flavors I ordered was not available. They admitted to underestimating how busy they would be on a holiday, however if there were preorders placed those should have been set aside and not sold. I was told it would be over an hour wait for my order. No attempt to rectify the situation was made I had to ask what pie options I had as I was not able to wait an hour when I choose the pick-up time specifically to pick up on my way to an event. No attempt was made to offer a discount or any other accommodations for the lack of preparedness. read more

Very good breakfasts. I love the warm atmosphere inside. For years I've enjoyed Village Inn, especially to order pie after an evening movie. During the pandemic rents went up and two Tucson locations closedown. This location is off 22nd west of Pantano. Today was my first visit at this location and it was just a great experience. Our service was spot on. Drinks within a moment of sitting down, and our food order came out so fast it couldn't have been 5 minutes. Our server Christine said " we don't mess around here!" When she brought out our order so quickly. We must have looked shocked. My food was hot, well prepared and tasted super. I ordered the pumpkin pancake combo and my husband ordered the bacon and egg breakfast. We noticed they have a Monday evening Bingo game; so we plan to go for dinner and bingo soon. My husband got just warm hash browns and so not 100% perfect but a good place for groups . Very clean inside. Appealing pie counter. Quick turn around from entering to getting meal/ service. Well what can I say. Village Inn is where you expect to get decent food. We got the fish fry and it was hot and fresh. It does seem the food had increased in price which is on average for all restaurants these days but Village Inn seems to also be increasing in portions. But the best part was our server. We usually have great service but Antonius was a new level. He has the great balance of seemingly being stand offish and not over bearing but warmed to our table and really was able to poke fun and make a normal meal fun and a great time! We had the worst experience at this restaurant. Roger was our waiter. All i asked him if he had the Valentines Soecials. He was so rude after i asked him. He only deserved a $2.00 tip but i had to pay at the table. I gave him 18% just to be nice. He gave me receipt and shook his head while walking away. read more

This restaurant has a management issue. My husband and I came here for Sunday breakfast, and I watched our waitress deliver my exact meal to the table next to us. 3-5 minutes later, she comes back to that table, asks the man if he touched his plate, he said 'no', she picks up the plate and brings it to me. Normally, I might be okay with this, but that was a particularly large table with a lot of talking, and I did not feel comfortable eating food someone else talked over for 3-5 minutes. So I asked if I could have it remade. She said yes, and a short while later brought back a hot plate for me. But it was the SAME plate, and I know because I always cut into my food before sending it back for this very reason. I told her this is the same plate, and I proved it, and she blamed the kitchen for pulling a fast one, which may be true, but I don't think so. Anyway, I didn't care, sent that one back again. Meanwhile, my husband is done with his meal while I am still waiting for mine. It finally comes out, and it is hot and good. Should have done that in the first place. The waitress comes back at the end of the meal and asks if she can make the meal a better experience by offering a slice of pie. We agreed that it would make our meal better. We eat the pie, and she brings the bill, and she charges us for the pie, which we thought, by her phrasing, would be comped. We asked her about this and she said, "I can't comp it because I don't want to get fired." So now we were bamboozled into buying dessert after all of that. If it had been free, I would not be writing this review. I do not believe this is the waitress's problem; I believe this is a management problem, and I am very disappointed. read more

It's been awhile since we've stepped inside a V.I. and breakfast was calling! This location was a bit of a drive for us but we like rides. Fortunately my guy woke early yesterday (Sunday ) morning and we beat any potential crowds coming in. My other half was craving pancakes big time and ordred them. I went with the build your own breakfast, 2 eggs , home fries, 2 pancakes and fruit. YUM! Our food came pretty quickly and boy was I hungry. Of course I asked for the Green Tabasco sauce, because it tastes really good and The prices aren't too bad and I think you're getting your monies worth. They are practicing safety precautions. Everyone must wear a mask to enter, food servers are masked and ours had gloves on. Booths have plexiglass sperators. We'll probably be back soon because an open for business restaurant and a decent breakfast place is getting harder to find. read more

We have been coming to this location since we moved to Tucson 4 years ago. Every time we come here we are always greeted with a smile. The food has been consistently great since we started coming to this location (might be the only remaining location in Tucson), and the service matches! FYI: ask to sit in either Christine or Anne Marie's sections. They will both treat you like family, I guarantee it! Two big thumbs and two big toes WAY up for Village Inn. We've been here a few times recently and some of the food is surprisingly good. I especially like the Cobb salad. You wouldn't expect good salads from a diner type restaurant, but the toppings are plentiful and fresh. I've had it several times and was pleased each time. They specialize in breakfast which is the meal I hated them for years ago. It's very important to either order a specific dish and avoid the VIB mix and match, or if you are getting the VIB to only order things they have to cook special for you. I mistakenly chose the cheese omelet 3 years ago and it was high school cafeteria quality. I didn't come back until just recently. Tonight I had the chicken fried steak breakfast skillet and it was very nice. There was a lot of food and it was all good except the pancakes. My pancakes were crunchy on the top and bottom. Pancakes are easy so that's minus a star. Tonight was free pie Wednesday so the servers are totally overwhelmed. Our server had 4 tables and she completely helped each table before starting on the next. We were, unfortunately, last and it took 20 minutes from when we caught her eye until she came to our table. Our pie came packaged to go without us asking for that. I think it was because everyone else had wanted that. Once recently we went just for pie and coffee. The pie was fantastic. Caramel pecan silk supreme was just the best! (That's not a free pie option on a Wednesday.) Overall tonight we had good food for a fair price with lackluster service. Ordered a BLT and a club sandwich off off door dash. First the lettuce was not the kind you put on a sandwich but the kind you use to garnish a plate. Just awful and had brown spots. The meat didn't taste right. The bacon was extremely fatty and hard to eat. Even the French fries have become worse than what I remember. Won't be ordering fron here again. I am the great granddaughter of the founder of Village Inn and I went out for pie with my boyfriend ended up having a full breakfast made fully by Antonius. He literally read my boyfriends mind and knew he would want ketchup before he even asked for it. All jokes aside Antonius is the best server we've had in a long time. I have been going to the Village Inn here in Tucson for a year now and I want to say that this is one of the best run VI's in the USA.

I hate writing low reviews for a business, but when it's warranted... It seems Village Inn has really been going downhill for some time, now. ;-( I used to love to go in and also enjoyed their pies. Just purchased a whole coconut pie. It was awful. It appeared they forgot to bake the pie crust. In addition, the filling was awful. It tasted like they either made it from instant filling or added flour at the last minute. I struggled to get through a small piece I'd cut for myself. Finally decided it wasn't worth it or the calories. I could (or would have), justified the calories if the pie had tasted good. It didn't. Probably my last attempt to get one from there. The last 3 times I purchased pie from them I wound up throwing it out -- just like I'll do with the rest of this one. Nothing like paying $15.21 for a pie that I'm just going to throw out. ;-( On the other hand, I may take the rest of the pie back to them for a refund. read more

This was our first visit to Village Inn and it was very nice. It reminds us of a Bob Evans restaurant from back east. They have great breakfast food and their dinners looked great too. The service was fast and very a attentive to us. We didn't have to ask for any refills and the orders were exactly as we asked for. The inside of the restaurant was clean and felt very comfy. It is styled from a decade or two ago but nothing seemed dirty or unkept. I would recommend if you are in the mood for good home cooking food and definitely try some pie! read more

I really like that this location is modern with an open floor plan. The food includes a great variety of foods for breakfast, which has been becoming a problem for chain restaurants. Our favorite breakfast place has had major menu changes and no longer met our needs, so we have been looking for a new place. I think we have found a good breakfast place with great, friendly service. Now These places do fill up quick, but really early and late is a great time to visit. Lots of crepe's, pancakes, omelet, meats, gravy, veggie oriented. The BEST part is service which the people are great. We were there for Veteran's day and also for weekend visit with no issues and great staff. We will definitely be back and I don't see any reason to look for other places for a variety of breakfast foods. (Our main thing is finding a place with variety, good hashbrowns, gravy, veggie options and crepes.) Thanks again to the staff. read more

The food quality and certainly the service at this VI location has declined significantly. One server, in particular, Roger, becomes extremely difficult and rude when stressed with having to serve multiple tables. We visited here a few weeks ago and, since no "please wait to be seated" sign was posted we sat ourselves. He walked by us several times and ignored us when we asked for a menu. We waited 10 minutes but he still didn't help us. A table of customers told him that we had been waiting awhile and he told them (loud enough for us to hear ) that not being seated by the host is why "that's why they're going to wait." When he finally did give us menus, some 15 minutes later, he was loud and rude and gave me a very insulting look. This guy should not be interacting with customers. While we did use to come here 4-5 times a month, we will not go back. read more
