My wife and I went here on a Sunday morning. Of course it was packed. Any breakfast place with a decent review score will be busy on a Sunday. We didn't have to wait long before we were sat which was nice. We went outside and they sat us at a table directly in the sun. I pulled the my wife is pregnant card and they moved us to a different table. We didn't get greeted until about 10 minutes after getting seated and the server was hardly there throughout the whole experience, but I have trouble marking a place down too much just because of a rough server experience. The food was pretty good. I got the ham and gruyere omelette and my wife got the breakfast BLET. It wasn't show stopping, but it wasn't bad either. The juice drinks they have there are really fun. I had something with turmeric and beet juice which was tart and refreshing. If I were you, I'd give it a try. read more

In what I consider to be a brunch desert in Macomb, First Watch is a welcome addition to the community! Make sure you jump in line on Yelp or call ahead because the wait times can really spike during peak periods. I've went a few times for breakfast/brunch/lunch and have enjoyed everything I've tried on their menu. If you consider yourself to be a plain Jane and like to keep things simple, you might want to check out the menu online first. While they do have standard eggs and bacon, many of their options feature a slight twist (for example, my grandpa was thrown off by avocado toast, superfood bowls, and lemon ricotta pancakes) The juice is just as instagrammable as it is online and I've attached the pics to prove it! Absolutely delicious! The diner is super bright and open, I came early Monday morning so there was no wait. I know some people experience a wait during the weekends but I promise it is so worth it. I ordered a skilled it had eggs, potatoes, tomatoes and bacon in it. I honestly could eat it everyday. The tomatoes were so flavorful and paired wonderfully with the rest of the items in the skillet. The artisan toast was great, they served it with a fruit jelly, I couldn't get enough of it. The portion sizes are very generous They do offer fresh juices which I will try next time I come here. First timer to first watch and I was impressed especially for them being newly opened. Usually I don't have the highest expectations when I check out a new place...they need some time for the staff to work out the kinks but I was pleasantly surprised with how well they were functioning so early into opening. The decor and atmosphere is nice...has like the fresh farmhouse vibe. Very comfortable and inviting. Our waitress was good, went over the menu a bit and brought us samples of their juices to try out which I enjoyed. The kale tonic was my favorite of the 3 but they all were very good and something different to drink with your breakfast or brunch. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast and he enjoyed it (minus the onions in the potatoes) I did the ham and cheese omelet and substituted the greens in the side for the potatoes...everything was good! Especially loved the multigrain toast and the jam that came with it. I got my son the fresh fruit crepe with yogurt and it was a large portion for off the kid menu! This is our new spot for Sunday brunch with the family. They have a wide variety of options for everyone. The service has been great every single time. They also make it easy to get a reservation. Stopped here for a weekday breakfast, we were seated immediately which was nice. Service was fine but not overly personable or memorable. I ordered the seasonal special crab omelette which was quite good! The crab was real crab, not fake/ surimi. It came with tasty toast and a small salad, but you can get potatoes instead. I also got a cold brew coffee which hit the spot. My mom got the seasonal watermelon drink and enjoyed it. My husband got the seasonal carnitas bowl and liked it but felt like sour cream cut all the spice out. I liked the different menu options, really great for people with restrictions or preferences. I found the prices a tad high, it was $75ish for 4 people. Much more than a typical diner, but of course this is a more unique place. Be aware it's veryloud in there due to poor acoustics. We have been to a first Watch in Troy, but not this location. Started off with a 30 min wait, which kind of sucked because we ended up eating brunch quite late. I love my brunches and it's kind of hard for me to be disappointed by them. However, it does happen. The atmosphere is somewhat like a cafeteria. Irs not warm and welcoming. It's bright. Social distancing is enforced. Biggest bummer was no alcohol. We like a couple mimosas with our brunch or a bloody mary. This wasn't really what I have in mind when I think of a Sunday Funday type of brunch. It's fine for after church with the family, but that's not us. The food was good. I won't deny that. the portion sizes generous. However, $35 (prior to tip) for breakfast is absolutely ridiculous. No alcohol. Nothing particularly special about pancakes and french toast. I could have gotten this at a family diner for $12.00. Overall nor impressed. I definitely won't be coming back. There are just too many fantastic brunch places in the area. read more

Loved this place from the moment we walked in. Fresh, clean and seating was spaced out according to safety guidelines. Great menu and daily specials on the board. We started off our brunch with holey donuts. They showed up with a berry sauce and chocolate sauce for dipping. The donuts tasted great by themselves and on a different level after dipped! Glad we ordered them. I couldn't find the exact combination I wanted so I ordered 3 sides, which was about the same cost as a meal. I got cheesy grits, biscuits and gravy and pork sausage. Grits were a little thick but great taste. I'm a gravy snob and these biscuits and gravy were top notch. I loved the flavor of the gravy and bits of sausage. The sausage links were nice and big but mine were overcooked. They were quick to replace them, not sure the first sausages should have been sent out as the replacements were noticeably better and tasted amazing. My guest got the am power bowl, which came with almond butter on toast. She loved it and I loved the bite I got too! She ordered a mimosa and the orange juice was fresh. This was a carry out order done online. Easy to navigate & food was ready when indicated. Our Order: AM Superfoods Bowl, Pumpkin spice pancake(huge), chicken sausage (yum!), scrambled eggs, elevated breakfast sandwich(least favorite) good, but something we could whip up at home easily, and the market hash (simple & yummy), to drink we tried the Morning meditation(delicious). Everything we had was delicious! The potatoes have a great flavor but I'd def ask for extra cook next time. Their toast is the bomb. My favorite was the AM Superfood bowl which is a coconut chia seed pudding with fruit.... Omg yum! I don't recommend putting their housemade granola on it though. Not sure if they burned a batch or just had something odd in it that I didn't like, but you don't need it on the pudding anyway. Highly recommend it. Overall everything was great. Finally tried First Watch for breakfast while visiting my parents and really enjoyed it. The ambiance was cozy, the food was tasty, and the service was great. Whenever we go someplace new, we always try a couple of dishes to share, and this trip was no exception. I tried the new iced chai drink and my boyfriend tried the beet/orange juice. I liked them both and thought the presentation was nice. I ordered the market veg omelette with greens and a side of potatoes for my meal. My boyfriend had the market veg skillet with egg whites and avocado. We also ordered pancakes and donuts to share. Everything came out at the same time and had great flavor. Oh my goodness, the food here is SO GOOD! Yes, some think it's overpriced and the hours are limited, but we think it's worth every penny. The service is always fantastic and the workers are friendly. We have never tried the bacon bc it is so pricey but one day we will! We rarely go only bc my husband's work hours aren't compatible with eating here, but on the rare days we can go we are always glad we did. Treat yourself to a great meal and eat at this place. Great Bacon. Is it worth the long wait, inflated prices and freezing during your meal? I don't think so. We have been to this location twice for breakfast, both times we checked in on Yelp with the waitlist so our wait was much shorter than it would have been, but it was still a long wait. I just don't think the food or the service here is great. First you wait forever for a table, then forever for your food. Last time, our food didnt even come out together...my husbands came out 10 minutes after mine, and the server didn't even apologize. Plus, it is freezing cold in this place all the time. My husband and I frequent this restaurant at least once a month for breakfast. I have been noticing a decline in quality customer service and food. My husband and I went here for breakfast to start of our anniversary day. We ordered a few items. The two items that were not great was the lumpy, watery grits that tasted like they were from an instant box and the pecan cinnamon roll. The pecan cinnamon roll was hard, dry, crispy and crunchy (even while sitting in a bath of syrup). I asked our waitress if it was supposed be hard and crispy, she she no. This is the noisiest restaurant I've ever been to. There is no sound absorbing material on the ceiling, and people were having to yell to carry on a conversation. The coffee, which was brought to the table in a carafe, was weak. On the other hand, the food was DELICIOUS. I had Farmhouse Skillet Hash. It was incredibly flavorful. A big step above your average breakfast place. It's a little pricey - $5 for one pancake! My breakfast was $15. A little high for breakfast. This location was the latest addition to the plaza at 23 Mi and Hayes. A stand alone building with its own parking lot. A large, brick wall with the restaurants name is visible from Hayes and announces that you've arrived at First Watch. This location has a small enclosed outdoor patio that seats 24. Inside, the theme is very woodsy. A mix of old and new styles. By the entrance, a more rustic look, and next to it more farm like with painted cedar. Large windows occupy he north and east walls letting in natural sunlight. The furniture is a mix. Booths and partial booths surround the perimeter and wooden tables with solid wood and metal chairs fill the middle. There is also a a large high top table that seats 10. While waiting, they offer complementary self-serve coffee and feature international delight creamers and raw sugar. Waitlisting myself through Yelp! at 12:30, with about 45 minute wait times and 19 parties ahead of me, I was informed to check in at 13:00. We did just that and when we arrived the place was pretty full. The app was pretty accurate and we were seated at 13:15. If this is consistent, it's a 5 star feature. The wait list essentially lets you check in with the host(ess) virtually and instead of waiting at the restaurant, you get to spend your time any way you like. Their menu promotes fresh foods with healthy ingredients, and their dishes are a unique combination. Not quite fusion, just a combination. Today we went with the following selections. Blueberry Lemon Quinoa pancakes; smoked salmon Benedict with mixed baby greens; pick 2 combo of ham and gruyère with chicken avocado crunch salad; and a Banh Mi breakfast bowl. Lemon-Blueberry Pancakes. Served with a small side of blueberry compote. The pancakes were exactly as expected. Lemony with whole blueberries. Cooked nicely, there's not much else to say about flapjacks. The compote was served warm and a good complement to sweeten the pancakes if you find them too acidic. A little on the dry side in spots, the dish should have come with a side of ample syrup as well. The only other notable is the price. At $3 a flapjack, it's more than a little on the pricier side. While the ingredients and execution was well done, it was missing some finishing touches. 3 stars. Smoked Salmon Benny. Served with a side of mixed baby greens. Not as well executed as the pancakes, the eggs were a lot more stringy so much so that not even the bernaise was able to cover it up. The egg was slightly underdone, and the bernaise could have used a little more work too, missing that subtle buttery, creamy, zesty punch I was anticipating. 2 stars. Ham & Gruyère. Half sandwich served on thick toast. It was decently filled with layers of ham and cheese, tomatoes, and a generous amount of Dijon, and finished in the grill. This sandwich was nicely executed and flavorful to boot. As part of a pick two, very decent value. 4 stars overall. Banh Mi bowl. Banh Mi is Vietnamese for bread. My absolute favorite bread, it's a cross between the French baguette and the fresh loaf. The crust is super thin and crispy, the inside is soft and airy. In North America, Banh Mi is synonymous with the tasty Vietnamese sandwich. Smeared with pâté on one side and a buttery mayonnaise on the other, it's filled with slices of pork meats, pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, and topped with cilantro and Chile peppers. Banh Mi in a bowl came in a dish and wasn't Banh Mi at all, save for the pickled daikon radish and carrots. The starch was dirty rice, and the protein was glazed caramelized Pork bellies with two sunny side eggs drizzled with Sriracha. Surprisingly, this dish paired better than I anticipated. The sriracha eggs tastes better than it sounds, the pork belly was on the sweet side, but was ok when matched with the rice. Not Banh Mi, but not terrible either. 3 stars. Coffee for diners continued to be complementary and bottomless. A small urn with enough for about 4 cups is brought and left on the table. Same with water, a small carafe/milk bottle (1 quart) is brought and left at your table. Overall, the food was ok. Would I return? What can I say? A nice clean and healthy brunch spot where I can pig out and not feel so bad lol, I absolutely love first watch. This location is the newest in the area and it's by far the best! I love the fact that first watch has healthy options and I can leave feeling full but not overstuffed. Many options to choose from, I normally get the Bacado omelette , I've gotten many dishes in the past and never regretted any of them. The coffee is good as well, definitely makes a difference when the coffee is good and not your typical burnt commercial coffee like a lot of other restaurants that serves breakfast. Came here on Columbus Day so did plan on it being busy but it was and still moved quickly! Got sat in less then five minutes and the waitress was over quickly after that. Ordered a coffee because breakfast duh. Didn't care for how sweet it was even just black but it was drinkable just not my preference. Now the food on the other hand was super fresh and delicious! I ordered the farmhouse skillet hash. Fresh slices of avocado, crispy bacon, and roasted onions atop some crisp potatoes! Also enjoyed the wheat toast it had grains in the crust and was a Texas cut! I'm surprised at how fair the prices are for the quality of food I got. The portions are small compared to a diner, and the prices are slightly higher, but you'll come out of it feeling more fulfilled and more energized. It's hard to find a place that really nails simple flavors and ingredients like this.
