I have loved First Watch since it opened, still do, but this location struggles with consistency. The service is still fine, it's the kitchen that's inconsistent. I've had the braised short rib benedict twice in the last week with very different sauces and potatoes. Once with cubed potatoes and a yellow sauce and today with almost mashed potatoes and a white sauce. The sauces are often broken. Today one poached egg had runny whites and the other egg had a hard yoke. For the first time I had to ask for different coffee because the pot delivered to the table was so strong I couldn't water it down enough to make it palatable. I still love the menu, especially the seasonal menu. I'll just have to drive a little further to another location. read more

I wasn't overly impressed with my Biscuits and Turkey gravy--the biscuits were dry, the gravy was adequate, and the eggs, which I asked to be over-medium, were in fact barely over easy. I'm beginning to wonder if chefs know the difference. Anyways, my wife had the Elevated Egg sandwich and it was actually quite tasty. I'd go back for one of those: fried egg though they say "it's an over easy egg" bacon, Gouda, avocado, and arugula. It was good stuff. Overall, the experience was positive and good. But nothing more. I've tried this restaurant 3 times now. Every time my eggs were wrong and I had to send them back. I ended up not eating them, and by the time they would bring me what they thought was correct.. my other food was cold. I told the manager. He just said, " sorry ". They never offered to take anything off my bill. I've never been to a big chain restaurant before, that never strived to make the customer happy. They were busy, so it's like they didn't care. I miss The Good Egg.........profoundly. I would breakfast/brunch there two or three mornings each week. My visits to First Watch are much much less frequent. What happened? Most of what I liked about The Good Egg has been lost and what's new has not impressed me. A breakfast dish that featured avocado came with very un-ripe avocado that was firm and tasteless. On another occasion a club sandwich came with untoasted white bread (I was told later it was supposed to be sourdough, but it was flavorless) that just crumbled and could not hold together the sandwich. But that's a sampling of the "new" I don't care for. But even more problematic is the "old" that I miss: 1) The Good Egg had the best bacon in town. Thick and meaty, it was the best. No longer. 2) The new more limited menu has 86'd my favorite dishes, many of which had a flavor punch from Southwest influences....the Huevos Rancheros, Old Pueblo, Wildcat Scramble, Macho Nacho, etc. These offered me an occasional indulgence and diversification from my more routine bacon/sausage and egg breakfasts. 3) There used to be a selection of coffees including a special coffee than was most often a dark roast or a full-bodied Sumatran. No more. 4) I always choose to exclude potatoes from my dishes. The Good Egg would always substitute some Greek yogurt in its place with a dispenser of honey. 5) No longer is there a loyalty punch card. No longer is there my loyalty. Service and décor are both very good. But the primary reason to visit, the food, is just not what it used to be. read more

Holy cow it is all great here!! I am not one to eat out for breakfast but now I am! The million dollar bacon was so rich in flavor. First time here. The vibe inside was cool and relax. There is a big assortment of breakfast meals on the menu. They offer a wide variety of healthy meals. The wait for our meal was not long. I called this morning at 0700 to place a to go order. The lady on the phone stated because of COVID they want orders to be placed on line and not be phone. I decided to just walk in and place an order as I was almost there anyway. I get there at about 0702, place my order and they tell me to go wait outside for my order. I asked if the dining room is open for business and she stated, oh yeah, it is, just due to COVID precautions we are asking to go orders to wait outside. There was no other customers in the restaurant. Just the server and a manager was sitting sorting silverware. She brings my food out at 0712 and tells me they are out of plastic silverware. Just when I could not believe there was a worse place to eat in Tucson I came across First Watch. The 9 dollar veggie sandwich was made with supermarket quality multigrain bread, smothered in some cheese. The coffee reminded me of Sanka The side of homes fries or whatever they were the most disgusting potatoes I ever saw and tasted before I spat them out. One has to be a very unmotivated cook to serve those soggy tired, badly cooked potatoes. What I find amazing are the amount of folks eating that overpriced garbage. We were in town for a wedding and had an amazing breakfast this weekend. We were able to add our names to the wait list via the yelp app and the wait time was spot on. Food was excellent, not huge portions of greasy breakfast like some places. Service was good and very accommodating. The only aspect stopping a 5 star review is waiting in line at the front of the restaurant to pay the bill. I don't understand why places do this when you have had a server throughout the meal. THE EXPERIENCE: 8:15 on a Saturday morning finds First Watch's first patrons steadily coming in for breakfast. My friend and I were immediately greeted by Riley as we walked in the door. We immediately liked the decor and feel of the restaurant, lots of lighting and contemporary furniture. We waited awkwardly near the door for about 2 minutes with no sign of the hostess. Riley was checking someone out at the register and we asked if we were to seat ourselves. She promptly took us to a table where we sat for over 10 minutes while countless servers passed by us averting their gaze. They also stood near the register chatting and occasionally one would acknowledge someone who came in by asking if they had been helped yet. A designated hostess would nip that in the bud. After several parties around us were seated and also seemingly ignored by the staff, Riley came back to check on us and was very apologetic that no one had even gotten us water. She was very friendly, helpful, and attentive despite the fact that her other tables were on the other side of the restaurant. THE FOOD: My friend ordered the traditional breakfast. She liked it. It's kind of hard to mess up a traditional breakfast. I ordered the elevated egg sandwich. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I would order it again. The egg and sausage were hot, the avocado was cold out of the fridge. Room temp would've made it much, much better. I originally had the potatoes as a side, but they were loaded with onion. One bite felt like I had just eaten cooked onions - nothing else. Riley happily subbed a cup of fresh fruit which more than made up for the side of onions. OVERALL IMPRESSION: This place has a long way to go. Where it hits the mark with atmosphere, presentation, and creative menu offerings - it really hits. Where it misses is customer service (except Riley) and attention to detail - two big things for me when dining out. I might consider coming back once they get more settled, but it won't be soon. I just recently moved here from Pennsylvania so I was looking for something familiar and fresh during my lunch break. Of course I was elated to find First Watch. I only had 45 minutes so I was in a hurry. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff was quite friendly. My food was received in maybe 10 minutes after I was seated and it was fresh and full of flavor. I don't care what they say about the dressing for the salad but it's more than just lemon juice. I'm hooked on it. The best part about this visit was my lovely server, Scarlet. She was attentive, warm, kind, and genuine. Being a former server I was totally won over by here smile and her sweet disposition. I will be coming back and I'm hoping I have her again. She was a joy. This place was a delight. Today I was in the mood on trying a new brunch location and this place really hit the spot. For starters, this place has a nice ambience and is very clean. It is not too loud and would be a great place to catch up with a friend or family. When my friend and I arrived, we were seated within just a few minutes. Our server, Justine, was friendly, warm welcoming and extremely informative on helping me narrow down the menu. I loved how they have a wide variety of options on their menu. As well, I really enjoyed the fact that their produce is locally grown! I decided to go with 2 seasonal dishes of the (1) truffled wild mushroom frittata and (2) pumpkin pancakes. I highly recommend the mushroom frittata being perfectly savory with the garlic and herb cream cheese and well filling. It came with a side of ciabatta and fresh fruit. The pumpkin pancakes were very good as well if you do enjoy a little spice for flavoring. As well the presentation of the dish was delightful. My favorite breakfast/brunch place! Even though it's a chain, I love it every time. They've got a lot of options and healthier options as well which I love. The staff has been very friendly and prompt every time I've gone. I think my favorite thing about first watch though is that the waiters/waitresses give you the check BEFORE you're done eating which I think should be standard practice at all restaurants. I haven't had a bad thing here so I think you'll enjoy anything you get here. Great portion sizes as well. I usually have leftovers to take back. read more

We were sat at a lovely booth and had ordered a drink and then the party to our left ws jioned by 5 other people 4 of whom were under 2 and screaming.
