Snapper - Grilled - Lemon Garlic Sauce - Side of Fries ($17.95) - yummy

Fish Cafe has been around for quite a while. I like that there's a healthy (well if you don't choose their deep-fried option) fish place in Kerrisdale. You order a type of fish and choose how to make them (deep-fried or grilled), choose a dipping sauce, and choose a side (I forget what options they have but I got fries). I like to get their fish grilled with their lemon garlic sauce. I tried their lemon caper sauce and it wasn't as good. Also tried their tartar sauce and apparently they make it themselves in house. Lemon garlic was still the best. They also do fish burgers and clam chowders and calamari for other options. Their calamari is not as crispy as I'd like and quite expensive for the size. Service can be slow as they usually only have 1 server and 1 cook. It's a small business so be patient.

Most popular finger food in Vancouver is fish and chips. It can be found everywhere and no need to drive all the way to Richmond Fisher Terrace or White Rock to have a piece of fish and chips. Fish café is the one on Open Table reservation. Just a bit surprised of small café would take the rsvn. It's small and cozy café, the menu is simple and on the wall. Soup was bland, fish and chips was ok, the fish burger was tiny with a lot of fries. If craving for fish and chips and collect points for open table, this is good choice.

The platter is amazing! And what a good deal, in addition to the platter for 2 (scallops, prawns, calamari, steelhead, char, fries, salad) we also each got drinks and a carrot cake, came out to be just $100! Marcus even gave us some extra smoked salmon belly that tasted incredible.

Seafood restaurant in Kerrisdale area of Vancouver BC. Menu includes salads, chowder, calamari, crab cakes, a variety of fish including halibut, snapper, trout, steelhead and ling cod. Two desserts to choose from. Wine and beer selection. Meter parking available on the street in front of the restaurant. Small patio with three tables.

Food was tasty, tad on the oily side. Restaurant could be cleaner, service staff was good.

It was also really fun that they had a variety of sauces you could put on the oysters ranging from a mild mignonette vinegar and cocktail sauce to spicy hot sauces. The oysters that day were from Fanny Bay, so they were very plump and juicy! Be prepared to wait, and wait you will. Especially if it's a sunny day. 30 min to order your food, and then another 20-30 min to get it, depending on how busy they are. Outdoor seating only with a bunch of benches and a few tables. I already knew I was going to do take away, so I didn't need to jostle for a seat. Almost everyone else had to do the jostleing. Two piece cod and a salmon tacone. The cod was overcooked. The tacone was good. Fries were crispy and unevenly fried. Meaning some pieces were burnt a little. Still acceptable tho. Hence the 3 ***'s It was decent, but it didn't wow me. Maybe it was an off order day. I like my fish. You can smell the ocean near the pier. Makes me feel I'm surrounded by fish and everything fishy.

****Service Animal Discrimination Experience****…read more I'm writing to document a disappointing and unacceptable experience with Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver. Earlier today, we called ahead to request dining accommodations with my certified service dog, trained in the United States by an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited program -- a certification that is fully recognized under British Columbia's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act. Instead of courteously discussing the request or asking the legally permitted questions, the staff member immediately rejected our reservation, accused us of not having proper documentation, and refused to review or even allow us to present our credentials. This was done over the phone, without any attempt to understand the situation or follow BC's service animal regulations. Under BC law, restaurants must accommodate certified service dogs and may only ask: * whether the dog is required because of a disability, and * what task the dog is trained to perform. Blue Water Cafe did neither. Instead, we were dismissed, spoken to rudely, and denied access based on incorrect assumptions about service dog requirements in British Columbia. For a restaurant of this reputation, this level of misinformation and lack of courtesy is unacceptable. Service dog users deserve dignity, lawful treatment, and basic respect -- not snap judgments, false accusations, or barriers to dining. I hope management addresses this immediately through staff training on BC's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and implements proper procedures so that other guests with disabilities are not subjected to the same treatment. MARY was very rude she had zero empathy and her tone was very obnoxious as well she had zero patience and her tone was not at all pleasing, she shouldn't be in customer service if she has no skill as to how to calm a situation, she has zero empathy towards us and didn't know how to talk in a manner that people would understand your situation, she just didn't seem to care. Why would someone want to work in a customer facing job if they have no patience to deal with customers. She was beyond rude , no words for Mary indeed! She passed me on to the manager , he was a guy, Kaden or sounds like that name, he was also not very helpful or didn't even try to make the situation a better one knowing it was my birthday, they both definitely have the most horrible customer service we've experienced so far , that day we were also driving back from the Four Seasons hotel in Whistler and they were such beyond lovely when it comes to going above and beyond! They definitely have the gold standard as to how people should be treated! This place is totally a downgrade from what we've experienced at the Four Seasons Hotel. Please don't assume on anyone's service dog. Please don't discriminate your tone towards anyone having a service dog and explaining it to the person properly showing empathy, it would have been a totally different experience and outcome when it comes to my review, because mental health is real.

It is a gorgeous city with a rich history and some of the nicest people we've ever encountered. So when we booked a Canadian Rail Vacations trip that originated in Vancouver, we were thrilled. And one place we had to revisit was the Beach Avenue Bar and Grill (BA). We had been there last July on Canada Day and had a blast with the Staff. Catching up with them on this trip was something we were looking forward to. When we arrived around 645p, we recognized most of the Staff and Manager/Bartender. It was one of those "where do we know these guys from" kinda moments. When we spoke to Vadym (Manager/Bartender) he actually remembered what we ordered in July '25! That was nothing short of amazing! And the Poly Sci Major aka Jasmine was graduating that week. Sadly, Rose was off that night. Vadym took our drink & food orders as we caught up like old friends - it's that kind of place. We did get a laugh when he asked "same as last year?" The Staff here is so friendly, the view spectacular, and the location scores a 10 for people & boat watching. We had a calamari app, fried chicken sandwich and the Beach House salad with chicken. The calamari was delicious - very crispy with lots of side veggies. The chicken sandwich was thick, crispy and the slaw worked great with it - much better than the usual lettuce & tomato. The salad was fresh with excellent greens (a biggie for us) and had lots of chicken. (See the pics). Vadym kept our drinks and waters full as we ate and laughed. We ended up staying at BA until just before closing. As with last time, the food and drinks were excellent and a good value. The Staff was the true "icing on the cake" and apologies to anyone we left out of this review but had laughs with. We would highly recommend the Beach Avenue Bar & Grill. It's an easy walk from the Fairmont and a great view. Congratulations to Jasmine on her graduation and many THANKS to her, Vadym, and the Staff for another great visit. See you again soon..
