Everything was amazing! The decor was absolutely beautiful! The service was amazing, both the hostess and our waiter were great. I arrived a lot earlier than my party without a reservation, and i was able to be seated at a table and wait for my friend to come. Which was great because it was 95 degrees outside. It was restaurant week, so i came to try some great food. (I've heard such great things about this restaurant). There weren't a lot of Thai restaurants on the list and definitely not in Brooklyn. So i was delighted to see this one was participating in restaurant week. The lunch special is $45 per person. And it's so much food! We get two appetizers. We chose the fried calamari, and the pork cheek salad. Both of them were a 10/10! The sauce that was coating the calamari was absolutely delicious! I would go back for that time and time again! The pork cheek salad definitely wasn't a salad lol. But it was absolutely delicious as well. It was covered in this tangy but spicy sauce that made the fatty pork perfect. That's another dish i would go for again and again! I ordered the fish sauce fried chicken, which came as a whole 1/2 a chicken with fried garlic and shallots on top. It also came with a beautiful spicy and tangy sauce. It was citrusy, and spicy and so dang good! Omg! It went perfect with the crisp of the chicken. It cut through the oil perfectly. It came with a side of rice. Unfortunately this lunch meal didn't come with dessert, but the dinner menu does. For context, I've been to the original NoHo location about a half dozen times and had fantastic meals every single time. This was our first visit to this location and it was lack luster to say the least. The food was decent but for some reason just not as good as NoHo. My biggest beef was with the crispy pork belly, it was absolutely rock hard and poorly prepared. The biggest downfall was the service. We had a party of 7, and the service was awful. Rushed to order drink, apps, and dinner. Dishes were missing from our order and I lost count of how many times a server tried to serve us something that belonged to another table. 7 persons party so we were forced with a 20% tip. A 20% tip would be acceptable for good service and this was anything but. 3 stars because the drinks were fantastic. Unlikely we will come back to the location, which is a bummer. read more

All my friends told me about it and told me that I must try before I continue to talk about Thai food like that so I give it a try a few weeks ago. We made a reservation a day before because I have my resy alerts on, and I accidentally made the wrong reservation, and I contacted the restaurant and they didn't make me pay the fee which I really appreciated. The service was really really nice and the staff really knowledgeable about the dishes that they served. We ordered a few items but something that I would really like to call out. I like the Fish Cheeks location in Manhattan a lot, and I didn't realize there was a location in Williamsburg. I was preparing for it to be tough to get a reservation on a Sunday afternoon, but there was a lot of availability and the restaurant wasn't full. The decor is sooo nice at this location and the food is just as good. I ordered the summer corn and tomato salad as well as the fish with Thai herbs and a side of rice. Definitely a solid thai spot with good food that id come back again to! Fav was def the zabb wings! It's sweet and tangy almost has a kumquat hint to it! There's also a small kick to it, but bearable with some water. Apparently the seasoning is so good that they sell it as a store product. Some of the chicken wasn't fully cooked all the way; it was a bit pink in 2 of the pieces, but still my fav dish!! Next fav and a must order is the steamed branzino!!! I dont even like fish, but this dish imo is michelin guided worthy! It's citrusy (soaked in a cilantro lime base), but not super overpowering. It was nice, meaty, and not too firm nor soft. Yum yum yum. Everything we ate. We did the menu à la carte. The Crab Curry sauce itself was too spicy for me, but the crab itself was delightful and well seasoned, really good and I was able to balance out the spice with rice. We also enjoyed the Basil Manila Clams (devoured too quickly for photos) and the Branzino which were both very well seasoned and not super spicy. The Morning Glory side dish was a little spicy, but well seasoned. Crisp veggies not overcooked. We had the Cheeky Tiki and the Punch Drunk Love, both very unique and complex. The space is comfortable and well designed (love the cool sculptural thing around the bar ceiling). Staff were friendly and efficient. The NYC location has been on my radar for some time now but I knew I was going to be in the Williamsburg area so I made a 5pm dinner reservation for two on a Saturday here. So glad I did! Went to Fish Cheeks for my birthday and it was such a cool experience. The restaurant looks so tiny from the outside but once inside it was very spacious and has a colorful decor/design. I loved the interior so much; it give the best ambiance. Our waitress was really nice and helped break down the menu for us. We decided to have the Selection number 2, that feeds two. For the starter, we got the Somtum Corn salad and Zabb Wings. The corn salad was fresh and spicy and the wings was fried to perfection.. and the seasoning was delicious. The main was Coconut Crab Curry, 30 Day Dry Aged Beef Kaprow and Fried Fish with Garden Herb Salad. The Coconut Crab Curry was one of the best dishes that night. sooo creamy and flavorful. The Fried Fish was also really good. By time the 30 Day Dry beef came out we were getting so full. At the end of the night they brought out sauteed cabbage, which was really good but a little too salty. Overall it was a 10/10 experience. I was blown away by Fish Cheeks. It's been on my list for quite some time and I'm so happy i was able to snag an early dinner reservation. It's such a cute location and the service was pretty good. On resy, it says you have about 2 hours for the reservation but i never felt rushed during my dinner. Now the food?! SENSATIONAL. Highly highly recommend the Branzino because i was blown away by the flavors of it all. Their menu is very extensive with a diverse selection of Thai Seafood dishes, but here's what we tried: Fried Fish with Garden Herb Salad ($40) - A whole fried rainbow trout, with cilantro, cashews, Thai chili, pineapple, and ginger. This was my favorite dish of the night - the flavor and texture of the fried trout combined with the Thai chili and other spices/salad ingredients created a unique sweet/savory/spicy flavor that was incredible. Would order this again. Coconut Crab Curry - Was very yummy, a nice blend of sweet and savory with the coconut flavor and crab meat. A unique Thai curry. This is definitely a treat and highlight everytime I visit and the food is consistent across multiple locations, I highly recommend making a reservation as it gets busy and it's recommended you share dishes family-style so you can try many different entrees! Once seated, we were gifted shrimp toast with a dip so delicious I honestly wished I could take a bottle home. The menu is extensive, but it happened to be Restaurant Week, and they were offering a three-course prix fixe for $60. Starter, entrée, and dessert--with all the heavy-hitter favorites included--an absolute no-brainer. For starters, we ordered the raw marinated crabs and the Zab Zab wings. I appreciate the tables are spaced out so you are not on top of each other. I imagine when it is busy busy this can be a problem. We were seated quickly because of our reservation. The complimentary chips and sticky spicy chili paste was great! Healthy funyons in my opinion. We started with the squid ink calamari. The flavor is so layered and sweeter than you would think. Calamari perfectly sautéed not chewy but a little... I had the scallops and every bite i consumed. Tender flavorful scallops in a sauce that i could eat with just rice. Because i did! My bestie had the whole fried fish. Perfect perfection with flavor, fried crispy and every bite was amazing. For dessert we had the sticky rice coconut ice cream wit jackfruit. It was good. The menu is very seafood-forward, though there are a few meat options as well, including the popular chicken wings, duck, and some pork dishes. I ordered the coconut crab curry, which unfortunately ended up being a bit too spicy for my taste, and the heat couldn't be adjusted. In general, many items on the menu lean spicy--even the morning glory vegetable side had noticeable heat. My friends shared the fried whole fluke, which is one of their signature dishes. We made a reservation and was promptly seated when we arrived in a quieter room in the back. And a reservation is highly recommended. We made a reservation a month in advance and the prime times were already booked. The entire staff was very attentive and we were given water and menus very quickly. Every time a dish came we were told what it was a quick summary on the ingredients, something I very much appreciated. Chips with jam(?): Sounds really weird but this little free appetizer was delicious. Pandan Lemongrass Ice Tea: It sounded really interesting and it tasted even more so. The lemongrass flavor was really strong and set up the flavor profile for the rest of the night. Grilled Pork Cheeks: Very tender and flavorful. The sauce has a little kick to it but the pork pieces were good enough on their own. Zabb Wings: Comes with 4 full wings, medium sized, spicy. A must get. They came out piping hot and with wipes for your fingers. Coconut Crab Curry: Very strong coconut flavor with clumps of crab meat. I have very low spice tolerance but with jasmine rice helped. It was one of those dishes where it was a tad too spicy for me but I didn't want to stop eating it. Beef Kaprow: Also accompanied by a bowl of jasmine rice and a fried duck egg. This was a bit salty and spicy, but again tempered by the neutral jasmine rice. Crab Aob Woonsen: Probably my favorite of the three main dishes (because it wasn't spicy) but a tad on the sweet side. Also has clumps of crab meat in it. Pandan Ice cream over sticky rice: Our favorite item of the night, and it wasn't even on the menu. We couldnt finish any of the main dishes but we asked the waiter if they had any dessert and this is the only dessert they serve. We love anything pandan so we were intrigued. The sticky rice was warm and sweet and slightly melted the pandan ice cream which made the dessert even creamier. One of my top 5 restaurants in NYC! The steamed branzino was INSANE. So soft, so light and it comes in the tastiest broth. We ate the whole thing clean and its the best branzino ive ever had. Wow. Totally unexpected. Went here on the recommendation of my daughter for her birthday. Mind you, I am not a big seafood eater, but it wasn't my birthday either... touché! Over the years, I've been to many aesthetically pleasing Thai restaurants where the food is average, so I'm usually a little skeptical of places that put a heavy emphasis on this aspect of it. It's been said that when you don't get what you want, it may just be a redirection to something better. That definitely rang true in this case. This dish is AMAZING. Worth coming back for alone. We tried the noted "fan favorite" crab curry, which was interesting. I've never had crab in a Thai curry so it was nice to try. It was deceptively filling. A bit on the spicy side for me (I can take a bit of spice), so if you're slightly sensitive, I would recommend getting more rice or another neutral dish to balance this one. There aren't any other veggies that come with the curry so it's crab + sauce, so maybe that's why the spice hit me harder than the usual curry. Also had the sautéed cabbage which was delicious. The pieces were cooked large, and without knives a little cumbersome to eat. To top off, I had the Butterfly Pea Flower Limeade which was refreshing and not too sweet. When I checked Resy about two hours before I arrived, there were some openings, but by time I got there they were all gone. The restaurant is small, not group friendly. We sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly & attentive. Cocktails- I ordered the tongue & cheek, which was fruity and refreshing. My friend had a bourbon cocktail that was made with duck fat! Both drinks were good. They have happy hour every day from 12 to 5. The oysters are also part of the happy hour, they were small and the sauce they were served with was very tasty. The mussel skewer appetizer was also very good, also served with a flavorful spicy peanut sauce. The zabb wings were fried to perfection, needed a little more flavor for me, I prefer saucy wings. For entrée, I had the crab curry and my friend had the beef kaprow. Both dishes were delicious, a shareable portion, but definitely not family style like the website describes. After ordering, we were first given some complimentary shrimp chips with a savory Thai dip that was really fun to try. Shrimp in 3 crab sauce - This was a party in my mouth. Tangy, acidic, salty, spicy, fresh garlic slices, fresh mint, fresh chilis, and raw marinated shrimp. Strong and refreshing flavors. The shrimp was the perfect vehicle for this sauce, and the shrimp had good texture. There is said to be bitter melon but I couldn't taste it. Zabb wings - The seasoning on the wings is so refreshing with the lime tang and the fresh aroma of the makrut lime leaves. Lots of balance between savory, sour, and sweet in the seasoning. The wings themselves were large and perfectly crispy and not oily. The texture of the skin was unlike any other wings I've had, it was thin and crispy. The meat inside was juicy. These wings were so skillfully prepared. Steamed fish with Thai herbs - This was my favorite dish of the night. The branzino was steamed perfectly and so tender. There are bones, but it was worth it. The sauce was sour with some sweetness to balance it out with very fresh aromatic herbs taking the forefront. The sauce with the herbs reminds me of the Vietnamese sour soup with the same type of herbs. Very similar flavor profile, but the sauce in this dish is brighter to pair perfectly with the fish. Very lime forward, bright and zingy. I loved the soft cabbage on the bottom that soaked in all of this perfect flavorful sauce. Coconut crab curry - I didn't like this dish. I wasn't a fan of the curry sauce. The flavor profile just wasn't to my liking. There was also a hint of bitterness in the curry that I couldn't figure out. I also found the sauce to be very coconut cream forward, which isn't for me. The crabmeat was plentiful. Pakboong fai dang (aka stir-fried morning glory) - I love morning glory, but for being "wok fried" I found this to be a weak dish flavor-wise, but it serves its purpose as a side dish. I didn't get any wok fried flavor, nor did I get any garlicky flavors, it was mostly one note of just salt and some soybean. I much prefer my mom's stir-fried morning glory. There was some hits and some misses for me with the food but the whole dining experience and ambiance pushed the overall rating to a 5. There are 2 fish cheeks locations but we decided to visit this location as we were staying in Brooklyn. I believe this is a smaller location, but if you make a reservation, you should be all set. We ordered the chicken wings, duck curry, and crispy rice salad. My favorite dish was hands down the chicken wings! The wings could have been a bit more juicy in my opinion but the seasoning was delicious. The duck curry was good, but I would probably opt to try a different main dish next time. As for the crispy rice salad, I don't think I was quite prepared for the format of it. You eat it similarly to lettuce wraps, and I found the rice to be a bit too crunchy in contrast to everything else. I also felt like the mint and other flavors were more powerful than I had hoped. Overall, I would highly recommend the chicken wings here, but as a comprehensive Thai spot, I'm not sure if this would be at the top of my list. Some friends also recommended the steamed fish, so we'd likely add that to our list if we visited again. read more

I was extremely excited to try this place out, but while the decor was gorgeous and the service was impeccable, I did find the food pretty to look at and the taste somewhat mediocre. Disclaimer I'm not a huge fan of Thai curry mainly because I prefer coconut milk as a sweetener than in my savory dishes. I will say if you like Thai curry the crab coconut curry was spicy good and crab cooked nicely. I did love the crab fried rice, it was perfectly done. The Zabb wings were tasty as well and had a spicy kick. (Triple check for strays of fur) I do prefer a crisper look however. Im a spicy lover and there is an overwhelming amount of spicy on the menu, beware if your tolerance is not up to par. The Thai tea was okay and typical. I prefer it to have a slightly sweeter note. My friend had the butterfly tea limeade and found it too sour. The menu isn't long so Im guessing a different set of dishes would have invoked a different review from me. read more

I've been to the Fish Cheeks in Manhattan and enjoyed and feel this one is consistent with my previous experience. Overall, I think it's worth checking out and a great dinner spot. I'll definitely be back! Had a reservation for 4 people and when we sat the host told us we only had the table for 1.5 hours. Initially felt stressed by this, but food comes relatively out fast. Though it did not leave us time for dessert... so we didn't order anything. Ordered the below and split among 4 people. It was the perfect amount of food and I would order everything again. -Zabb Wings: flavorful, zesty. Has a mild kick. Not greasy. Can't remember how many it comes with, but we each got a wing. -Grilled Pork Cheeks: flavorful, not fatty. Split among 4 people it was fairly small, but overall enjoyed. -Crab Fried Rice: more flavorful than you'd expect, especially with the side sauces it comes with. An essential dish if getting a protein, especially the steamed fish (soaks up the juices so well!) -Steamed Fish: just order it. It's delicious. Bursting with flavors: zesty, spicy, rich, citrusy. Tried the Williamsburg location exclusive food and drinks while here, and similar to the Manhattan location the food is delicious and the drinks are good. Oysters were okay, I liked the sauce that went with it but I much prefer classic raw oysters with standard accompaniments. My spice tolerance must be failing me lately, because the raw spicy marinated crab was so spicy. It was really delicious, but very hot. Reminded me a bit of the Korean soy marinated crab but with a fishier, more sour and spicy taste. Tom Yum noodle soup was delicious, great flavors, wide variety of seafood and meats, everything tasted great as expected. Service was great, glad to have a really good Thai restaurant here in Williamsburg (beyond cheaper options like Noods N Chill). read more
