My husband and I had an early dinner here and our food was good. We had an order of the crab balls appetizer (you can order 2 or 4), a small order of the jalapeño poppers appetizer (can order 2 or 4). I got a fried shrimp po' boy and my husband got the medium size fried shrimp and fried oysters plate with fries and hush puppies. My shrimp po' boy, which came with fries, was really good but the fries were a little plain. They have Tony Cacheres on each table so I just seasoned them with that and some salt. I ordered a large po' boy because my husband wanted some and I wish they would have told us just how much food it really is. A large is two whole sandwiches!! It's actually a great deal to order 1 large po' boy if you want to share with someone because it is PLENTY of food for 2 people and you'll save $5+. The good here was amazing! The service was great as well. I had the seafood platter and it was massive. I had to get a box and take most of it home with me. Unassuming strip center with OUTSTANDING poboys & onion rings. We split a grilled redfish poboy & a fried shrimp one. The bread, toppings, & preparation of the seafood was perfect. Both were some of the best we have ever eaten. This place is a must go if you love Cajun. read more

I finally decided to stop by in to try the food. I had a craving for fried catfish fillets, so to say the least, this is a very limited review. I ordered the combo with fillets and shrimp. I have to say I was not impressed. I just didn't enjoy the seasoning nor the lack of crunchiness on my fillets. The tartar sauce was also not to my liking either, I would probably prefer the store bought tartar sauce. I have to say I did enjoy the shrimp. Maybe I have to give some other items on the menu a try next time if I bring myself to come again, but most likely, I will venture to other places for more satifying fried seafood. read more

This is my first and last time coming here. To their credit the cashier was courteous although not knowledgeable. And what seems to be like the owner was very nice. I decided to try this place because they had a $7 lunch special. Over the phone they told me it came with three pieces of fish and one side. When I open my order I had three fish nuggets and a small side and a piece of bread. It's as if they took one small piece of fish and cut it into 3 pieces. I take it that I'm not the only one that feels this way as it was 12 noon and there was only one customer and no line. The small amount of food that I got tasted okay. First time visit, and very much wow'd by the service... We ordered the 10/10 combination of shrimp and red fish to go. It took only fifteen minutes before the steaming hot plate came out, during which one of the servers came by and told us the food will be ready shortly. When it did, the server insisted on taking it to the car for us. Amazing curtesy in this day and age! Shrimp was delicious, good size and fresh. It has been more than a year since I've visited this place. I love the fish tacos. To my surprise, the serving size shrunk....they were so bare and tiny. They used to be so full of fish and fixings and filling. The fish tacos were tasty, but not very satisfying. I wonder if it new management. Bring back the big fish tacos. read more

The best fried catfish around town! I absolutely love this place and it's affordable. Sometimes there's a Groupon I can use for Fish Place. I usually get the red beans & rice, fried catfish and fried shrimp. Also, it comes with the garlic bread which is also fantastic! I have been a client of this location for a number of years. But today I really got a bad treatment when I called to place an order. I was put on hold for more than 20 mins. then they just hang up on me but entertained right away my succeeding call just to put me on hold again and I told them that my earlier call was on hold for more than 20 mins. already and I did not get an apology at that time. Trying to stay away from burgers, pizza, etc. So went here this afternoon, should of know how run down it was inside that I should of just turned around & left, but I was starving. Ordered to go: Cajun Pasta w/ veg. (no meat), Grilled red fish Po Boy w/ a side of veg. and a catfish po boy with fries (for my husband). The pasta meal had no pasta; it was sauce, veg. & SHRIMP! They did fix the pasta order when I brought it back (one of the employees had to explain to the cook that the dish comes w/ pasta). The Fish Place I knew no longer exists here. It seems as though management has changed and the place is a hollow shell of its former self. Allow me to briefly explain so you can avoid the mistake I made by choosing to dine here. Upon ordering my meal, mind you, the same meal I've ordered here since I first started frequenting the restaurant I was told that it would cost me $1 to substitute a side on my order. At first I thought this lady was joking and I was at a loss for words, so I asked again. Ignoring this early warning that things had changed, I proceeded to complete my order of a large fish taco meal. Upon completing my order I waited to be handed a cup so I could get a drink. I was then told that the large fish taco meal doesn't come with a drink. This absolutely blew my mind. After spending almost $12 dollars for a "meal" I was not getting a drink. The lady behind the register simply smiled and told me this is how it has ways been. Well, lady, I'm here to tell you that this is not the case. This meal, the meal I have never had a problem ordering until today with you has always allowed the substitution of a side and a drink with the meal. It is not my intention to put this place down, but to warn future customers of the changes that are taking place. As for me, I will no longer have my meals here. read more

We take out 4 or 5 times a year and have since they opened. Good food reasonable prices and only one nut case manager who didn't last long a couple of years back. This is by far the best gumbo in SW Houston / East Fort Bend. My moms family a couple of generations back are Moutons, Heberts, Dupruy, all from Lafayette. The gumbo here (Houston) is watery and tasteless. This stuff is better than OK, and worth the trip. read more

Sadly, it's just not what it used to be. When it first opened you couldn't' get in the door, then something changed. The quality of the food and the taste is not the same. Pretty decent food. I ordered a Large Shrimp Ettouffe and a Large Seafood Gumbo for my family on a recent visit. The flavors were good for the most part. My main gripe was the Seafood Gumbo. There was barely any seafood in it! Actually, the main protein in it was probably the Sausage. Small location and no frills. Plastic wear and plastic plates. Got the family pack fried catfish and shrimp with coleslaw/onion rings and added large hush puppies. Good sized portions and not greasy. The fish and hush puppies were pretty good. The shrimp, onion rings and coleslaw were alright. All the food was pretty decent. I tend to like a longer fry than what they do though. A bit on the salty-side, the food is decent for a seafood fix on-the-go. I'd recommend ordering to-go as the seating area is quite limited. Heck, you might not even have a spot to sit at while waiting for your to-go order. So far, the sides I enjoy are the green beans, and dirty rice. Their fried catfish is pretty good (fresh, good texture, not "seafoody" tasting) and it's lightly breaded in cornmeal before it's deep fried. At this location I would suggest ordering on the phone or in person and then taking it home. The dining area is a bit small, and when it gets busy it will get cramped. I like their crab balls with extra cocktail sauce. Their green beans, cole slaw, and french fries are decent enough too. My mom didn't like her stuffed fried shrimp last time, but my grandmother liked her regular fried shrimp. Most of their meal deals will run you between $8-$12 a person. read more

I had the blackened red snapper fish tacos (flour tortilla), jambalaya rice, and hushpuppies. The first bite of the taco was "wow" but soon went down to ok. I wasn't disappointed nor blown away...but it was good. The jambalaya tasted the way dog food smelled and the hushpuppies were entirely too sweet. Grilled Red Fish taco is so packed with flavors with red cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro, Baja sauce and cheddar jack cheese. The veggies are cooked with just enough butter to cook them but not so much that their own flavors are hidden. The Spicy Rice is indeed spicy! And delish!
