Grilled Red Fish taco is so packed with flavors with red cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro, Baja sauce and cheddar jack cheese. The veggies are cooked with just enough butter to cook them but not so much that their own flavors are hidden. The Spicy Rice is indeed spicy! And delish! I wanted some fried oysters one night. My wife likes fried catfish. So I thought I'd try Fish Place. Well, the oysters and catfish were wonderful! Portions on the catfish were huge for my wife, she had leftover. Liked the red beans & rice, and french fries, though not crazy about their cole slaw, a little spicy for me. The fried fish was bland. The fried shrimp and chicken tenders were overcooked and tough. The crab ball was some kind of imitation crab and I think rice that was fried. It was not very good. The stuffed jalapeño was stuffed with some kind of unidentifiable dry stringy meat with little flavor. The red beans and rice tasted like they were from a can. I haven't been to Fish Place after they changed management. I was hoping things had changed. We arrived around 11:15am and the door was locked. The manager (?) was sitting inside and got up to let us in. She never greeted us and never said a word. She just unlocked the door and turned away. Nice start. We placed our order and never got a thank you. We then went to the fountain station to fill our glasses. I was getting some ice tea and noticed (saw and heard) a glob of caramel colored gunk spurting out of the tea dispenser into my glass. It was really gross. Needless to say, I just got some water. Our order came out and my daughter was impressed with the amount of fried crawfish she received for the small portion. However, the crawfish was very dry and very hard. It was obviously way overcooked. Her green beans were mushy. My catfish was ok, but contrary to my daughter's crawfish, my catfish was undercooked. My red beans and rice were mostly bean juice and rice. My veggies were the frozen in a bag variety and then grilled to a soft mushy mess. I remember the days when Fish Place first opened. Food is good, except the stuffed jalapeno. It is always dry and tasteless. Don't get it, and if it comes on your plate, replace it with something else. Nothing else much to say. It's small, the seafood is all fried or blackened, or greasy. But it's good. read more

I read many of the reviews before trying this place out. I always pass it on my way home from work so thought I would give it a try. Keep in mind, this is not some high end fish place. If you want that you need to go there. This is just a little whole in the wall place that serves some good food. I had the fish tacos and they were great. My roommate had the shrimp po-boy and he said the same. For the price and all, it was just good food, no muss no fuss. The guy at the register was very nice and helpful and made suggestions. For the price and the decent food, I would recommend it. If you are looking for better, I suggest Pappadeux or other more expensive high end seafood restaurants, but if you just want a good inexpensive meal then I suggest Fish Place. read more

I was so happy when I entered the restaurant. Cajun food signs and pictures of The food on the walls. The set up at the restaurant was similar to other Cajun places in South Louisiana. That was pretty much it. I am starting a campaign to certify food places that say they have Cajun food. When my food arrived in a basket, which is similar to walk-up restaurants that have great food. Then, everything looked the same. A dark brown crust over all the food making it look like blocks. I could hardly tell what the food was. The coating was so thick I was able to separate it from the meat. The fact that it was frozen seafood would have been tolerable if it had been flavorful and not over-fried. It was horrible. I ate the small piece of garlic bread. It was good. The fried onion rings were almost perfect. So they do know the color and texture Cajun food should be. It was a seafood platter, but I had ever seen what I finally decided was a piece of fish. Awful. The seafood balls, not real sure what they were,but just some breeding with no flavor. My wife and I went to Fish Place on Highway 6 in Sugar Land for a weekday lunch last week. We went with a Groupon offer, which made the whole experience even better. I had a Fried Catfish Platter (medium size) with french fries and cole slaw. My wife had Grilled Salmon with Red Beans and Rice and Grilled Seasonal Vegetables. Our order was prepared and served quickly and the food was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was so plentiful that we took a good bit of our food home and enjoyed it for another meal. Well, the small salad with shrimp was $8.50. It was a small container of iceberg lettuce with cheese, three small slices of tomato, and red onion rings. The 5 grilled shrimp that came with it were ok, not much flavor, oh, and NOT what I ordered. I had ordered fried shrimp. Also, no dressing was delivered with the salad. We also ordered grilled redfish and grilled shrimp with 2 sides (included). Only one of the sides was delivered. Maybe they would be ok for dining in when you can go up to the counter and ask for missing parts, but not great for delivery via Uber eats. Just finish dinner at the Fish Place in Sugar Land. The food is great! Love their oyster poboy and Cajun pasta! Their service is excellent also. Saw the staff help other customer carry food to their car and they also refill drinks for an older customer. Will definitely come back again. read more

If I could do zero stars I would. I was served hot coleslaw, possible health hazard if it was Not refrigerated, and I think it was not. The fish was cold and chicken tough. When I brought this to the managements attention the so called area manager(Salima)said she would send me pictures of her thermometer testing food temperatures. Really!? That can be faked! She expected me to store food in my refrigerator and return to restaurant another time. That location is 40 minutes from us! Bad food and even worse service. 1st visit, so somewhat apprehensive. Passed this place by a number of times since it looked like another fast food place, and the name wasn't doing it for me. However, variety of menu choices, fried, grilled, or blackened, plus gumbos, jambalaya, fresh-cooked vegetables, and a friendly cashier who treats customers like he really is glad you're there and wants you to come back. Food was cooked to order and not pre-cooked, so it's not exactly fast food, but I am happy to wait a few extra minutes for quality. Decor is simple...this is not exactly a pappadeaux's, but I would rank food quality as comparable, with great prices. I will be back. read more

Ok ....what a disappointment!!! I've been to the one in my neighborhood by Katy but this one in Sugarland was awful!!! I was in the mood for Peel -n- Eat shrimp so we (my bf and I) stopped in. Asked the guy (who looked confused/new...forgiven) how much it was for the peel -n- eat shrimp. He told me half a dozen was $11.99 (UM WHAT!!??) ...then it quickly changed to 8. I said I wanted 12 because...I mean, who sells shrimp by #s and not weight? So anyway I got a dozen peel -n- eat shrimp, small coleslaw and my boyfriend got a po boy shrimp combo = $33 ...that is very high in comparison to Red Lobster and Joe's Crab Shack... but I still said ok, whatever... we are already here and I'm hungry... WHEN I SAW THE RECEIPT, $17 for 12 peel -n- eat shrimp (wtf???) I already knew I would most likely not go back but after waiting 30 mins, seeing the food, and the taste = HELL NO!!! The shrimp was 12 small/medium shrimp already peeled with the tail on, on a bed of salad and lemon...I mean wtf is this??? The taste was worst....overpowered by the taste of lemon after sitting on a slice for obviously too long and oddly seasoned!!! VERY disappointed...only reason why it got 2 stars was the coleslaw (it was one of the best coleslaw I've ever had) but this isn't the "Coleslaw Place" so let's master the right food...ok...?
