We are locals and we usually do not drive that far south from Boca, but I am surely glad we drove south into Pompano today, we had heard about the fish shack on a YouTube video, we are very happy with stopping again and having a drink, and the grouper sandwiches were off the hook , get it ? lol Stop in for a great seafood experience. Definitely a five star.

We were in the mood for some seafood, We arrived before seven to try to beat the crowd. We waited about 20 minutes. The menu has an extensive selection of mostly fried seafood. Our server came quickly. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We both enjoyed our meals which were Fried Oyster Platters.

The food was delicious. I had "the Hogfather" and my husband had the buffalo shrimp wrap. The portions were huge. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. The place had cute decor and atmosphere. Will come again if we're in the area.

Loved this place! I was looking for a cool local spot and I think I found it. Very fresh seafood and delicious batter. This place is a winner. Everyone was happy with their food. They catch all the fish in the am, when it's gone, it's gone. Was able to try wahoo fish here, delicious. Staff was great! Will be back when we return.

Since moving back to South Florida we have become Fish Shack's #1 fans. Every time we visited, we HAD to make a visit, and when we finally moved back made a point to keep going. We were so sad when they closed for renovations - but the restaurant is new and improved and better than ever! We have now been going every week and can't get enough. They are always busy, so you may experience a short wait but it usually goes quickly. The service is great, everyone is so kind and they bring everything quickly. The food is delicious with tons of fresh fish options prepared in multiple ways. We love their tacos, buffalo shrimp, and usually add in the fish dip, oysters, or conch fritters. Though anything you get you can't go wrong! 10/10 and will keep coming back every week.

A small bar and restaurant in a strip mall. How good could it be? Very good. The service was wonderful and the fresh fish was cooked perfectly. My wife had the grouper sandwich and onion rings. I opted for the grouper platter with dill pasta salad and fries. I just wish I wouldn't have ordered my grouper with the garlic butter. The garlic overpowered the fish. Otherwise a very good experience and I would recommend stopping in.

It's a small, dark spot near Publix and not very eye catching from the outside. There is no outdoor seating and the windows are tinted. Once inside, the staff is friendly and greets you right away. We sat at the bar and I ordered the grouper tacos, one blackened with cilantro lime sauce and the other with chipotle. The chipotle was my favorite. The fish was cooked perfectly and the portions were huge. They don't serve spirits, only wine, beer, and seltzers. It's not really a vacation vibe spot, but the food was so good it is absolutely worth a visit.

I've been going to this place for years and will continue to do so. Their new location is so much better because there are more tables and plenty of parking. My husband is a fish snob and is always impressed by the freshness and variety. Not many places carry hogfish and wahoo like Fish Shack does. Servers are always friendly and ready to answer questions or give suggestions. Ambiance is fine, it is casual and what you would expect from a fisherman themed restaurant. One thing of note is that this place is super clean! Nothing ever smells fishy. Bathrooms are spotless. (There is a diaper changing station in the women's bathroom. Some small places don't have that and I really appreciate when places do.) Fish Shack won a local news award for a perfect score on a food health inspection, so you know you are in good hands here.

Another good fish experience in the books! Had the cracked conch, hog fish, and wahoo sandwiches. Loved the cucumber salad and dill pasta salad. The remodeled space is really nice!

The crisp watermelon mimosa was incredibly refreshing--light, crisp, and the perfect complement to the meal!! My absolute favorites are the Cuban sandwich and the corned beef hash. A few small tables set against the wall and a few larger tables on the outside sidewalk. Doesn't look like much thought was placed on the design here. Service: Didn't wait at all for one of those small inside tables. My server was efficient and served my tea latte exactly as requested. Little things can often make the difference between a successful dining experience and not and here were a few of the small things that were provided that make a difference. I ordered the pancakes and my server suggested a side of scrambled eggs. The food: I received two pancakes which were well done, light and fluffy and the perfect size. I also received plenty of butter (so many places don't give you enough butter) an ample amount of steamed milk for my tea (another area that always seems to be pretty hard to get right). One thing that always drives me crazy was the fact that my scrambled eggs were served in the same dish as my pancakes. I hate this as the syrup inevitably gets to the eggs. Fortunately, I had a second small dish under my tea (which is also a great thing to get, to place my tea bag). I used this dish for my eggs. Another nice convenience was the mug for my tea which had a handle that I could actually put my fingers through (another area that restaurants fail to provide). In addition, I also ordered a side of sausage which came in patties form and was pretty tasty. The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" would I come back? The answer, probably. Although the ambiance was substandard, the food was good the service was as well so, it more than likely would be worth another visit on my next stop in town.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The environment is fun, and there are plenty of clever artifacts and photos to engage the eye. On to the food... we ordered the Southwest bowl and the lox bagel. As you can see from the pictures, the portions are sizable and the value for this area was decent. I think the total bill was around $30 for two entrées, a tea, and tip. The bowl has beans, tomatoes, avocado, potatoes, eggs, and cheese. It comes with a Mexican sauce and sour cream. We used a little of the sauce, as we found the dish a bit bland. Both eggs and black beans needed a little salt to enhance their flavors. While it was good, it was very soupy. The beans were not drained well, which I'm guessing--combined with the tomatoes--caused it. The lox bagel was beautiful but very hard to eat. The owners might want to consider dicing the tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers, as there's no way to eat this without deconstructing it. The salmon was good quality. Next time, I'd get a seasoned bagel instead of plain--it would probably be epic on an everything bagel. There are many other options for breakfast or lunch, and we would probably come back to try something different.
