This place lived up to the hype that a few locals shared. We were looking for some good seafood and in particular, fish tacos. It hit the marks. I was worried there were only two in the order, but they were packed with great looking fried fish and the cabbage was crisp and fresh. We started with a spicy tuna appetizer which was amazing! We also shared a NE clam chowder bowl and despite the $16 price tag, it was packed with seafood and potatoes and was a portion that left us very satisfied. We wanted fish, tossed around a few names and Fishbar stuck the landing because 1) parking, free right now in Manhattan Beach, B) decent menu and III) salmon chowder. Alisa served us this evening, we may have over ordered but we wanted to push the dinner agenda and have a few bites of a lot of things. Mesquite grilled salmon bites with jalapeño and tomatoes, yummy, easily a small meal for one. Fresh oysters, kind of small, but tasty delicious. Salmon chowder was heavenly, hearty and thick enough to settle the soul. Lobster bisque was tomato creamy, silky deliciousness. Tempura asparagus spears, perfect with a cocktail. Pan seared Chilean sea bass with mashed taytoes, grilled asparagus and a delightful caper lemon butter that I would have eaten if drizzled over ice cream. The dish was sublime. Food was amazing! Love the king crab, it had lot of meat and it was cut. We got the oysters and everything tasted so fresh. The bathrooms and the place feel so luxurious, I almost felt out of place. Now most importantly the thing to top everything is their server Toshonnie, amazing amazing girl. Not only is her hospitality amazing but she just takes her time to check on everyone and make the effort to get to know her guest. She makes us feel so comfortable and so welcomed. I would come just to see her and honestly I would not want another server. She remembered our names and I just want her to get a raise because she absolutely deserves it. read more

We had decided to come here for late dinner on Monday @ 8 pm. Located on corner. Street parking or parking garage across the street. Upon entering not acknowledge. Waitress on computer did not greet us; just ignored us say. 5 minutes passed and she finished then acknowledge us " someone will be with you" then proceeded to walk away. Couple more minutes passed we were about to leave then hostess arrived at the booth. Booth is to your right when entering. Tight squeeze with people existing & entering the doorway. Hostess informed us approx 15-20 minute wait. We accepted time and placed on waiting list. Their was not too much of a wait approx 5 minutes. Ambience is relaxing vibe with low lighting however people talking extremely loud so everyone was talking loud to be heard. Inside of restaurant is compact and felt we were crammed in. I had extremely hard time maneuvering around because I am in a brace, had shoulder rotator cuff repair. We ordered food and arrived fresh. Our food items both cold and hot arrived to the table with thee appropriate temp, good quality & fresh. My husband did not like clam chowder. He said it lacking taste and was watery. Waiter recommended garlic fries & he was right. Delicious. We could not finish them and not able to take with us. Hated that we wasted half bowl. Our waiter was Justin. Friendly & outgoing. Seafood focused restaurant in Manhattan Beach with weekday happy hour. Came here on a Saturday post-surf and was seated outside within a few minutes. Indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout/delivery is available. Credit cards are accepted. Street parking is limited or you can park in the metered parking garage across the street. It's close to El Porto beach so you can easily walk here after hanging out there. Bathroom stalls are available by the bar. The lobster roll was okay - the lobster was tough and flavorless, and the bread looked good, but also lacked flavor. On the other hand, the fries were very crispy and came piping hot. My friend opted for the coleslaw with her lobster roll, and she liked the coleslaw much more than her roll. The service was pleasant. The atmosphere was chill and the inside looks like a nicer dive bar. read more

Although a sportsbar with many screens playing all relevant games, this is also a restaurant with delicious food. I've been here several times to enjoy a meal with friends. Tonight it was with my daughter... I started with a cocktail; they have a full bar for those who don't necessarily want beer. We started with calamari and some oysters on the half shell. The calamari is among my favorites in the area-- very tender rings with light batter; I always enjoy the legs, and these were yummy. The oysters of the evening were Avonlea petites (which are really medium-sized), and they were delicious--I tried them with both the cocktail sauce & horse radish and the vinaigrette. For entrees, we ordered the spicy salmon teriyaki bowl and the 50/50 mussels/clams -- E said the bowl was very tasty, and though the mussels/clams order was an unusually small serving, it was so delicious and we did not require a larger serving. The broth was a light creamy broth, with hints of butter and was accompanied by buttery toast. I would have preferred the warm, plain crusty bread that came when we sat down--would have been better to soak up the tasty broth. The service was just the right amount of friendliness and solicitousness. The ambiance was genial and warm. The meal was too filling to have dessert, but we left quite happy. read more

Service, ambiance and quality of food are very good. Unfortunately the serving sizes are ridiculously small - especially for the main dishes. We ordered a couple of appetizers, which were delicious - especially the seared ahi salad. As mains we had a salmon skewer and an ahi fillet. Both were very tasty, but were nothing more than a few small bites. I should have taken pictures to validate the point. It should be noted that neither my wife nor I generally eat much. The fact that we left hungry hence means that you'll likely leave hungry, too, unless you want to load up on fries or spend hundreds of $s for a 2 person meal. Sadly, this means that we will not be back, because a basic requirement for us eating out is that you don't need to start cooking at home upon returning from dinner. read more

While flying across the country to meet a colleague, she text me asking to work my cuisine magic and pick a great place for dinner. I landed on FISHBAR and have to say it was perfect. While the food was simply outstanding, the server (Erika) was an amazing ambassador for the restaurant. Energetic, fun and more than willing to help make suggestions. Erika made the experience fantastic. Apps included the Crab Queso Dip and a 1/2 Dozen Oysters. I think I could have been happy eating the queso dip for dinner. We moved to the Seabass & Halibut for dinner. Cooked to perfection, presentation was perfect and taste was out of this world. For dessert, only because Erika smiled and upsold the heck out of this, the Warm Donuts and Bread Pudding. No words, simply no words. I'd highly recommend FISHBAR for dinner, drinks, apps & dessert (or any combo). Looking forward to my next trip. read more

What an oldie but goodie! This restaurant is really beautiful and well taken care of which makes the experience all the more special. Also they have beautiful decorations for Christmas which I just love. The food is really great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. We ordered the Salmon bites and the fish tacos. I went with the blackened version and my hubby had the fried version. But let me call out their aioli situation - O.M.G. - their honey aioli and spicy aioli might be the best I've ever had. Wow. Aside from my tasty favorite Lobster Mac and Cheese, great Pino Grigio and Key Lime Pie and attentive service by our Waitness Kaitlyn, I would have to say the very best part of the night was my dinner companion and the woman who took my photo here, Maria A. Scenna who had posted on her review ,that I refer you to, the cocktail and dish she ordered. She shared her dessert, a piece of the chocolate cake the next day. Because I am not as quick on the draw as she at taking and sharing photos, I was remiss in taking one across the table in kind. This place, in my humble opinion, has the best and freshest seafood in Manhattan Beach. It's a bustling business but service is quick and efficient. My daughter and I shared the salmon plate and it was grilled to absolute perfection. The broccoli was steamed just the way I like it and where do I even begin with the sweet potato fries. Be warned...they are addictive. Parking is as parking is in MB. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. I promise if you have to spend a little time searching for a place to park, it will be well worth it. We were offered a large booth table for 2. Lovely. There are many flat screen TV with different Sports. The dining area is nicely decorated. I feel like I can hang out here for a few hours. I had the clam chowder. I forgot the Manhattan clam chowder is a bit spicy. Will have to get the New England chowder next time. Our waitress remembered us from last Friday. We feel very welcome here. We were offered complimentary warm bread with butter. So good. Maybe because I was a bit hungry also. The keylime pie is a bit small in size, but it is absolutely delicious. I also tried the bread pudding with warm vanilla cream. I enjoyed every single bite. The lady's bathroom has 2 stalls. The auto flush doesn't work on one toilet. The food is great! The atmosphere is great! The background music is lively. I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu. Oh, by the way, our waitress and your staff are fantastic. We ordered different items than usual and found some worthy gems. The artichoke is very good. It has a nice rub on it too and the honey Aoili is to die for. I got a modified mahi mahi Mediterranean plate with a side of mashed potatoes and spinach. Mashed potatoes and spinach were incredible, the fish was a wee bit over cooked and the portions were a little tiny though (besides the spinach which was a plenty). The surprise hit of the entire meal was the chocolate brownie for dessert. It was served warm and covered in warm gooey chocolate sauce with walnuts baked into the brownie and a side of ice cream.
