Really great food! I've been here a couple times and I'm always happy to go back. They have certain specials every day. 'Taco Tuesday' for example. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi on the lunch special. Came here Sunday night for an early dinner (around 6pm) with a friend. Wasn't too packed considering it was football night. We were seated and our drink orders were taken promptly. The food is a bit pricey, but I guess you're getting what you're paying for because the quality of food is really exceptional. I had the lobster tacos (2 for $14.99) a side of grilled asparagus ($3.99) and a bowl of the house clam chowder ($2.99). DELICIOUS! Wasn't disappointed with anything I ordered. I will definitely order the clam chowder every time I come here - it was one of the best I've ever had (outside the east coast). I think next time I'll order the Ahi Tacos though. I had a bite of my friends and was kind of jealous I didn't get them. They too were fantastic. On top of all the food, we also got a pitcher of beer which we split ($12). Service was OK. My server didn't get my order right the first time and I was brought blackened ahi tacos instead of my lobster tacos, but wasn't too upset. He corrected his mistake and our meal continued without any hiccups. Left paying about $30 which is a little over what I was wanting to pay, but it was nice trying a new place with good quality sea food and for that I'm thankful. Found this spot on Google Maps coming in from LAX looking for a place to have lunch in Manhattan Beach on our way down the coast. Glad I did! Pulled up and found a parking spot right at the front door with plenty of time left on the meter and was seated right away on a Saturday @ noon - how cool is that! I thought this would be kind of a local dive reeking of raw fish and packed with surfers and drunk college kids. Well, I was wrong about that. Kind of touristy but very clean and well-kept. Comfortable seating. Sports on multiple TV's scattered throughout. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the decor and the ambiance. Its a well thought-out concept and they deliver with their food. They serve Brunch on the weekends but you can also order from their regular menu. My wife had a Bloody Mary that was almost a meal by itself. I think I even saw a strip of bacon in that thing. We had oysters (very fresh). Loved the lobster roll with fries and the lobster mac and cheese (which me and my wife shared and we did not leave hungry). Big props to you Fish Bar. read more

I indulged with a weekday special called the Crab Combo or something like that... it was 1/2 lb of Alaskan King Crab and 1/2 of Snow Crab, plus two sides... I really don't get the high grades for this spot, but honestly, we we're totally disappointed with our recent experience. As a serious foodie, a lot of these reviews strike me as plants or friends of the owners. At any rate, all of our meals left a lot to be desired. We started with their "famous" New England Clam Chowder that looked the part, but upon tasting it, we immediately thought that the chef must have screwed up by mistaking sugar for salt. I kid you not... They served us sugary Clam Chowder... Who ever heard of such a thing? I have had dozens of Clam Chowder all throughout New England and never had anything so obviously wrong. When we brought it up to the server, she said that is how they make it! Again, who ever heard of sugary Clam Chowder? We were all disgusted with it and sent it back. Now, we aren't the kind of people that complain much and I may only send back a few things per year, so I don't want to leave you with the wrong impression. This almost never happens. But it was too gross to eat. The server then suggested that we substitute it for the Salmon Chowder... But that it would be a $1 surcharge per cup! Let me get this right... You serve up inedible food and then charge more for the soup replacement? It's not the $1 that bugs me, it's just the concept that they aren't making it right for the customer by charging them more. Anyway, the substitute soup was so salty that the three of us simply couldn't eat it. I'm now three hours after my meal and 4 bottles of water later and I'm still thirsty! It was just disgusting... Our entrees were equally horrible... Mahi Mahi served up cold, tasting like cardboard, obviously not fresh, but frozen and nasty. My daughter had the Salmon Bites and they smelled like ammonia! Yuck! The server never refilled our drinks and admitted that she had forgotten to do so. No kidding! We rarely ever leave a terrible review, but this place disserves one and is best to be avoided. I LOVE this place! The decor sets a very chill, happy mood. It's pretty intimate but you don't feel claustrophobic at the same time. We had the lobster guac, buffalo shrimp tacos and calamari. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! Since my first visit I've been back at least 10 times. The seafood is so fresh! The king crab is my absolute favorite! The chowder and the wedge salad are a must! The service is great as well. We ordered oysters as an appetizer and they were taking awhile. We didn't even complain but the manager apologized and comped the oysters. Things like that are what keep people coming back! It gets really busy here so reservations would be a great options but I have no problem having a drink at the bar while waiting for a table! read more

Been here twice with the same group of friends. Both dining experiences varied quite a bit with the service. The first time we came, service was amazing and fun. The second time we came, our server (who was different from the first) seemed more interested in twirling her hair around her finger and flirting with the young men at the bar than in taking our order. It was a bit frustrating having to wave our arms and do air signals just to get her attention. Several times we found ourselves placing and checking on orders with the bussing staff instead. The bussing staff is definitely attentive, courteous and efficient. One of the best places for a seafood happy hour in the South Bay, without a doubt. We get a handful of different dishes and share, along with the usual two dozen oyster order. The oysters are always fresh and tasty at an unbelievable HH price. It's easy to get through three baskets of bread with friends, because the sauces in most of the HH dishes are delicious. We still end up ordering entrees on top of all the appetizers we finish, but you can easily get away with making a full meal out of the HH menu. The last time we came, I ordered the wedge salad and soup combo. I didn't care for the clam chowder. While I do think clams can have a slightly sweet taste to them when they're fresh, I don't think clam chowder should have an overtly sweet taste to it. It definitely tasted like sugar was added to it. Clam chowder is one of my favorite (comfort) soups, but I won't be ordering it again here. Met some friends for lunch / happy hour. I live a 1/2 mile away and this was my first visit. I loved it. The interior is fresh and welcoming. The menu has many great choices. I had the halibut piccata (which is not on the menu). I ordered steamed spinach on the side and added it to the pasta. The halibut was so fresh and moist. (I expected it to be dry, I don't know why) The sauce was delightful and I dipped my bread in it. The funny thing, is that I drove all the way to Gladstones last night for dinner and it was just "OK" albeit the views were awesome. But since I live at the beach anyway, I would WAY rather have fish dinner in my own neighborhood. My friend had the halibut, spinach, and sweet potato fries (which were amazing). Love the fish bar. Only reason I gave a 4 star is sometimes it is a little noisy. Other than that..AMAZING. Just had my birthday on Saturday night with 15 people. The back two tables were ready when we arrived. The servers were also very accommodating. They had 2 servers instead of 1 for our table which meant amazing service the WHOLE time. Also, great tip, the corkage fee is only $10 a bottle so it really saves a lot of $$$ to bring in your own wine.
