Ordinarily great food and service here, but management did a very poor job today (11/14). Wait staff were disorganized resulting in a 20+ minute wait at the table with no menus (at least the servers brought bread and water on time) and we had to ask 3 times for someone to take our order, the server dutifully approaching 2 different waitresses. Ridiculous, and a bit of torture since we were starving. Even the waitress who eventually helped us couldn't say who our wait person was supposed to be, only that it wasn't her. She tried to rescue the situation with a half price discount which was nice of her, but by then the whole experience was kinda done. I don't blame the wait staff, they all looked busy, but the manager needs to be more on top of the process here. Wait staff knowing which tables they are responsible for, and having an adequate number of wait staff available, is restaurant 101. We'll be back, but not anytime soon after that. read more

A friend recommended this restaurant. We were picking up a relative at LAX, and this was close. There was parking across the street, which made it convenient. The restaurant was very crowded, but we only waited 5 minutes to be seated. For sports fans, there were many TVs and I noticed several younger kids watching them.mOur waiter was great! The drinks came quickly, there was bread as we waited, and our food was served in a timely manner. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and enjoyed every bite. It is penne pasta, with a creamy, tasty sauce and quite a bit of lobster. My husband had the fish and chips. Excellent! When we first walked in it was packed as the basketball game was on. The first to greet us was alisa the hostess, very attractive and attentive, even though we waited a long time to just get a table she made sure we were being taken care of and updated us on how much time we had left. Brunch, lunch, and dinner are all great at the Fish Bar! Bloody Mary's are amazing during weekend brunch, other then that I haven't really tried any other cocktails here. Salads are good. Grilled fish is always great, you can pick your sides and customize it! Service is great too! Kid friendly and sports friendly which is definitely a plus for us! If they ever open a second location I hope it's one with a view! It's kind of tucked away and unless you already go there you wouldn't really think about it. read more

The Fishbar is amazing. Our server was hospitable, he had great recommendations and appeared to really enjoy working here. In fact just about every server we came in contact with was welcoming and professional. The drinks were "effective" to say the least and reasonably priced. My husband had the Old Fashion and I had the Addicted to you margarita. Both were delicious. My king crab seafood dish was phenomenal. It was fresh, cooked to perfection and they even went a step further to help start the cracking of the crab process for you. Some may not like this but if you know king crab you know it can be a little prickly. I had mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts as my side both were very good. My husband had the lobster tacos. It's simple, they were a great size, full of lobster and freaking bursting with flavor! My husband and I send our guest to restaurants all the time I told our server I couldn't wait to recommend this place. they did a great job of making this place feel welcoming, romantic, and trendy. This was my first time here the food was great but the service was crap. My friend or I were not greeted as we walked through the door. It also took about fifteen minutes to get someone to acknowledged our presence. Once our presence was acknowledged it took about another 20 minutes to get water and order. Once we ordered it took another thirty minutes to get our food in which they somehow put in a double order of what I got. In addition there was also this tall white women with the flattest ass I have ever seen who stood there for what seemed like thirty minutes mouthing her words away to her pregnant girlfriend who was sitting at the bar. She made my dining experience horrific. There was also another couple who walked in a short time after and I'm sure she could have helped them as well but chose not too. I'm assuming since it was her last hour on her clock because after I left the restaurant she walked out a short time after. Very unprofessional of her. Only seen her go to the back and check on tables about twice within that hour. Very unprofessional. I don't know if it had to do with the way we looked or something but it sure felt that way. Not to mention that guy carrying around his laptop making it appear as if he was working. At first I thought he was helpful but ended up not being so helpful at all. Ironically it was a fellow Latino man who came to help and gave us the best service. Other than that I can't stress enough how trash the service here was. 1. Park across the street in the parking structure otherwise parking SUCKS! 2. Food was fabulous - definitely recommend the spicy calamari and the sea bass was delish!. Our waitperson was attentive, and courteous. 3. The space is cramped - especially at peak hours. Seems they tried to cram in as much seating as possible and forget about space for the servers to walk back and forth from the kitchen. The furniture is too big for the space. And those scratchy chairs!!! Wear snag proof clothing or you'll walk out in shreds. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. We have needed a great restaurant in the South Bay for quite a while with amazing food and reasonable prices, even the drinks!! Im' so tired of these places coming in and thinking they can rake in high profits (i.e. Strand House) with mediocre food, service and feed off of people who've done well financially because of their primo location by the beach! Been to Fish Bar twice, once Fish Tacos, then Swordfish. Both times, amazing. Both Saturday nights, seated within a half hour. First night, my grey goose drink was $9 (same exact drink was $12 at Strand House!) and second night, my absolute was $5. I even had the pelligrino with it and ,since my friend also got one, the bartendress gave us the 2nd pelligrino practically free of charge! Also, atmosphere is fun, friendly, even a positive place to meet others!? People are obviously here for dinner but hang out from early to late. Can't wait to try Happy Hour. Don't order the happy hour appetizers. ...RIP OFF. They provide half the size and charge 60% of the regular menu cost. I mentioned this to the manger and head chef and waited 60 days to see if they would make a change but when I returned was really disappointed to find they continued to deceive their clientele. Always fresh. Always delicious. Love the sea bass. You pay $40 at McCormicks. Here its $25. Also great for sports as they have a lot of tvs and all the games on for football, basketball, etc. Great weekend spot. The food is pretty good here. Seafood is fresh. Drinks are great. The happy hour here has a pretty wide selection of food and drinks. The only thing I didn't like was the table arrangement. If you're in a booth you're fine but if you're seated at the tables their really close to each making it extremely hard to get up and down. Other than that it was great. read more

Went for brunch with my son mostly because it has lots of seating and a kids menu. They gave him crayons and a kids sip cup which he loved. The food was pretty mediocre as was the bloody mary, but the service was decent and there were a ton of T.V.'s for sports fans. Good for a step up from dive food (the clam chowder was definitely a highlight) in a marine themed sports bar setting, but not as good as MB Post or Fishing with Dynamite at all. read more

The food here was AWESOME! In fact we came two nights in a row! Get Jesse to make you a Cosmo, he makes the best I've ever had. BUYERS BEWARE: IF YOU'RE NOT WHITE, YOU'RE NOT WELCOME This restaraunt is okay with denying service to anyone who isn't white and blonde. We arrived and were told our wait would be 30 minutes, but we could wait for our table at the bar. After taking down our number and guiding us to the bar, they failed to seat us for over an hour. When we asked them about the status of our table, the two hostesses claimed to have called us and continued to make excuses. Instead of looking directly behind them, where they knew we were seated at the bar, they continued to seat groups of people just arriving (who were all white) before us. They then told us that "the restaurant is too big to look for you" and we'd have to wait another 15 minutes before being seated despite there being open tables around us. After walking away, the two hostesses looked at our party and began laughing. The manager was accommodating and helpful in getting us a table immediately, but no action was taken and at that point the experience was ruined by unfriendly and racist hostesses. Neither hostess apologized and completely avoided us for the remainder of the night. We did not get the hostesses names, but they were working on 7/21/16 for the dinner service and hopefully will no longer be working there. read more

Making a reservation for Father's Day, we arrived early and was given a table relatively quick. Our server seemed to have been given too many tables, or had become forgetful, as he forgot to serve utensils and glasses of water, which we had to ask a busboy for. After ordering a few appetizers. the New England Clam chowder was surprisingly sweet, which I've never tasted in a chowder before. His service was lackluster, given that it took about 30 minutes before we flagged him to put in our entree orders. Another 20-30 minutes for food to arrive. My plate of Fried Shrimp wasn't too memorizing, unless you count the normality of breaded shrimp with no distinct flavor to entice it. Tartar sauce needed some pepper love as well. What bummed us out was that our father had ordered a similar slightly flavored shrimp skewer, only to bite it and find out that it was cold. We told the server and had the staff quickly bring us a new plate, this time with some temperature in them. Dessert was on the house, which was a generous form of compensation, but cannot repair the dismay we received in both food and service. Tip for others: make a reservation since there is small, somewhat tight spaces, and possibly long wait times. I might come back, but not for a good while to try another plate. read more

Living in the Southbay Bubble, we tend to go to the same places often. Fishbar use to be the old Upper Manhattan Sharkeez, which i was never a fan of, so once it changed hands, I was still skeptical of it. However, it was one of our typical Taco Tuesday Nights and we were itching for something other than OB's, Mediterraneo, or El Gringo. So, we decided to check out Fishbar! Let's just say, we have spent almost every taco tues there since than...without question. The blackened mahi mahi tacos are amazing!! I consider myself a really tough critic when it comes to fish, and I was very pleased. I often have cravings for these taco's and sometimes find it hard to hold out until Tuesday where they are only $5 for 2 tacos. Fishbar has a real local feel. It is more of a restaurant than a bar. The free bread is amazing, the chocolate chip ice cream sandwich is irresistable, and the margaritas are stiff! I def recommend checking out Fishbar any day of the week, but it does get packed on Tuesdays. read more

I have to admit, I was a little uneasy about what food establishment would be taking over the old Sharkeez building, but I was more than pleasantly surprised by my first trip to FishBar. Walking in you get the immediate feeling of a cool yet casual restaurant with a little bit of a lounge-ish/sports bar feeling. While waiting for our table, we went up to the bar for drinks and were immediately greeted by a super friendly bartender. Once we had our drinks, it was only about a 10-15 minute wait (was the Sunday night before the 4th of July) until we were seated. While perusing the menu the sourdough bread was being inhaled...so good! I ordered a cup of the clam chowder (to die for...a bit sweet and so good), the mussels leon (very good and I used both the sourdough bread and the bread provided with the mussels to sop up the amazing broth), and a signature bloody mary (complete with a shrimp, bacon, and asparagus!). All were really good and very reasonably priced. Also ordered at my table was the lobster which was perfectly grilled. Even the coleslaw was delish! I absolutely loved my first FishBar experience and will undoubtedly be going back often! read more

We ordered coconut shrimp and snow crab for appetizers and the shrimp and scallop skewer and lobster tacos for our main entrees. Everything was delicious and well priced for it's quality.
