I suppose it isn't a bad thing since it allows options for those that can't get off from work. The atmosphere was a little different. More cheery and welcoming. We were a little early but we were appropriately taken back at our assigned appts. My husband came out and nodded to me that his experience was better. Same Hygienist cleaned the room and then came and got me. She was cordial and identified who she was. She even apologized for not seeing me last time but stated it was due to the Doctor being with me. (I don't buy that since my husband saw her and his Dentist on the last visit and I didn't). The TV was off in the room and the chair was facing away from the door. I felt like I had the privacy and calm environment I was use to. Overall she was professional and accomplished my cleaning quickly. She made recommendations and addressed issues such as me needing to focus on my back teeth more. (Always have to be reminded). And then she walked me out and was gracious about letting me know that I could make another appt for months or I could call back. I chose to make a call later to get in. My overall impression is they may have made some changes in how they approach their patients on admit and execution of their services. It was end of day and I was surprised that they didn't seem exhausted. A few other people came in after me and it seemed they were treated with the same respect. I hope this continues for their patients going forward.

After completing the medical history, I was taken back to get X-rays done. I had reminded them that i had already sent them recent x-rays. They responded that they wanted to do their own. After having 25 painful x-rays done, they told me I only needed to do 5 more. I said it's too painful (I have a small mouth), I said no more X-rays. I am 71 years old. Over the years, I have never, ever had to take more than 6 x-rays on any or my prior visits. They took 25 and were not done. I said I could no longer stand the pain. They called the doctor in. He was insensitive to my pain and said they needed to do the remaining x-rays. I told the doctor I could no longer stand the pain and just asked for a cleaning. He said they could not do that. So, I excused myself. I figure that they were getting paid by Humana for the number of x-rays.

I communicated this choice multiple times before the appointment and had already completed the appropriate paperwork. However, upon arrival, the dental surgeon made several attempts to persuade me to forgo sedation. Despite me stating "no" repeatedly--more than five times--he continued to pressure me, saying things like, "That's like going to sleep for a splinter," that he "didn't feel comfortable sedating me for this," that I'd get a $600 refund, and that the procedure would only take a few seconds. He dismissed my concerns, including fears about hearing drilling or cracking noises. The entire interaction felt manipulative and left me anxious and emotionally vulnerable just before surgery. Ultimately, I did receive sedation, but only after insisting multiple times. The pressure I experienced was inappropriate and felt violating--particularly as a woman and a patient in a vulnerable state. Upon further research, I found that sedation is a common option for extractions. It reminded me of situations where "no" should have been enough the first time. Additionally, the procedure that was described as "just a few seconds" actually took over an hour. I'm writing this review because the dental surgeon's behavior undermined my ability to provide informed consent without coercion. I believe this violates ethical standards and patient rights.
