I cannot day enough good things about the help we received at Fisk Automotive today. We are customers of CarMax with extended warranty. So when our car wouldn't accelerate past 20 mph yesterday I was in a panic! Christmas week, guests due to arrive Friday! I called CarMax to schedule an appt and they could fit me in for another 2 weeks. Instead they referred me out to Fisk who is an authorized CarMax mechanic. They were so quick and efficient to help me and my family out. Turns out it was a damaged fuel pump. Part ordered and in 24 hrs have my car back in my drive way!!! I don't know much about cars and my wheel was shaking when I would brake, which didn't make sense since I had just recently gotten all new tires, wheel alignment, and balancing. So I called Fisk Automotive and Freddie who worked here helped me figure out that all I needed was to balance my tires again! However, just a few days earlier I had gotten my oil/filter done somewhere else and asked them the same questions about my shaking wheel who also tried to get me to pay $100+ to fix it. Thanks to Fisk Automotive and Freddie I would've spent $100 on something I didn't need when it was just a quick free fix from the place I purchased my tires. She was examined head to toe - worth every penny to have your car inspected prior to purchase (they saved us a fortune on 2 other lemons). Every item that needed to be addressed was brought to our attention. We were even offered a plan to defer minor maintenance. There I was, going about my day and grabbing some lunch for my coworkers when the worst happens - I turn my key and my car refuses to start. The battery is completely dead. Great. By the time I got a jump and a ride back to work to finish out my shift, it's 7pm. Long after any mechanics are closed. My coworker suggests that we head over to Fisk, drop it off, and then give them a call in the morning. She said that they had always treated her well, so I thought, "why not"? Surprisingly, the owner, Jack, was still there even though it was well past closing time. I was pretty shaken and annoyed by the day's events, but he handled my jittery nature just fine and got all of the paperwork figured out. He told me that they had quite the busy day that day, but they would try to get it back to me as soon as possible. Around 11AM the next day, Chantal called to let me know that my car was ready! She was incredibly courteous and nice. I couldn't believe that they had gotten everything done so quickly. I popped right over and picked up my car, and now she runs like a charm. Thank you, Fisk! Set up an appointment here with some major planning that had to go into it ahead of time since we have two small children, both work full time, and would be down a car. They told me it would be a free diagnostic. After dropping my car off first thing In the morning and then taking an Uber all the way to work...they took their time and didn't even get back to me until 2:00. They said they had great news and yeh dealership would cover the repairs. I had a feeling it was too good to be true. They told me it would be 180 for the diagnostic after saying it would be free. When my husband went to get the car they charged him 90 which meant they literally just randomly make up costs. Fast forward to me taking it to the dealership, another huge hassle w arrangements that cost money only to find out they would not cover any of the repairs. This shop took our money and didn't even offer to repair it but lied and sent us off ensuring their pockets were lined with having done no work. I do not recommend this place! read more

I never write reviews but I feel like I should for this place, which means a lot. I'll give the pros and cons of my experience with this place: Pros: -fixed my car quickly (3 hours) and got it back the next day -a lot of reviews here say that do a good job so I trust that and my car is still running Cons: -they spent at least 4 hours, maybe up to 7 hours, testing my car to figure out what was wrong. No repair place in my life has ever taken this long to test my car. I would have loved if they tested my car in a reasonable amount of time for me to just stay there so then they could show me what parts needed to be repaired. For all I know, and I wouldn't be surprised, I only needed one small thing repaired and they replaced many parts that were never broken. Unfortunately I'll never know. He charged me an environmental fee for recycling the "broken" parts. I would've loved if he gave me my "broken" parts back so I could look at them. Again, I'll never know. -the guy working on my car tried to scam me $175. He called me letting me know what was wrong and it was going to cost a little over $500. I get there and the total is over $700. I was confused and before I could read the whole front page of the costs, he flipped the page and said "sign here." I flipped back the page and calculated everything. I noticed the test was $175 when he told me before it was $150. And I pointed that out to him and he fixed it. Then I realized that the $150 for the test was supposed to go toward the repairs. So I called him out on that too and he quickly waived the $150 test and now my cost was what he originally told me earlier in the day/what I was intending to pay when I got there to pick up my car ($500+) -he tried rip me $240 for a coolant flush. I get there to pick up my car and he's trying to convince me I can ONLY use my car brand's liquid and kept saying "come in and get it done here, I have the exact liquid your car needs!" And kept trying to scare me telling me my coolant is contaminated and something else might be wrong with my car and I also need to replace the fuel system. Thankfully, I found another place earlier in the day that does it for less than $100. Come to find out my coolant isn't contaminated, just a little dirty and nothing is wrong with my car and my fuel system is fine. -I find out from AAA that I wasn't given the AAA discount. They called me and we agreed $55 for the AAA discount and $5 for tax. I finally got my check and they only gave me $50. Greediest repair place ever! They tried to rip me off $900-$1000. I ended up spending $595. Greediest and worst repair shop ever! The owner will probably reply to this trying to defend his company. But feelings and vibes ARE valid! read more

went to fisk for a simple but oddball problem the timing marks were warn off the pulley of my Del Sol and I couldn't pass smog due to. I was told it would be an insane $179 diagnostic fee then given the go away treatment by another employee when he said they don't work on 1999 and older cars, odd as obd 2 starts at 1997 and newer. will never use them again for either my Del Sol or Crown Victoria. and yes I used them a few years back on my Crown vic for air ride repair, and ac repair (the ac now leaks out in a couple of hours). read more

Never never never go here... unless you like being ripped off and robbed of your hard earned money. I went in with an 2003 Saturn for a small job which was to basically reconnect a wire in the steering column, or at worst replace the harness which I pointed out to them clearly. The girl st the counter said the estimate was for $125.00 which I thought was reasonable for a job that should take no more than 30 min. I left the car there and when they called they said it would cost over $700! WHAT??? They gave me some run around causes for that amount, but I know enough about what needed to be done that I knew it was a plain and simple RIP OFF!!!!!!! I told them I would take it elsewhere and when I got there they would not let me have my car back without paying $125.00 for their "diagnostic services" WTF. Their estimate was for giving me an estimate, not the estimate for the repair. I was shocked and sickened by their lack of business ethics. Same old mechanics taking advantage of the average citizen. Deceitful business practices and strong arm tactics are the Fisk way of doing business. They should make it their motto. Avoid Fisk Automotive at all costs!!!!! read more

I've visited Fisk a few times and everyone has been really nice on the phone and in person. Each time I had an issue with my car, I brought it in and they were able to diagnose it before noon and were able to make to repairs usually on the same day. For every fix they've done for me, everything is still fixed. I only had a Midas to help near where I used to live, I'm so much better off with Fisk since I moved nearby. On my way to Fullerton to help my girlfriend move her stuff into her new apartment my cars sparkplug popped. We were stranded on the highway in 100°+ heat. Thankfully she had AAA and they had us towed to Fisk! They recommended them highly. They sadly were closed but had an overnight drop off. They were responsive and kind on the phone with communication. A friendly gentleman named Freddy kept me safe through the entire situation for fear we would be stuck in LA and couldnt fo back home to Sacramento. (6hour drive) He fixed my car up nicely and we made it home alive and I'm thankful for that! If we run into any other issues while in Fullerton we will definitely be going back! read more

If I could give these guys negative five stars, I would. Consumers beware! Going the extra mile for your customers goes a long way. Which is what compelled me to write this review. My car, a 2006 honda civic, recently overheated and was not drivable. I called aaa and they suggested that I take it to Fisk automotive. The next day I received a call from the main mechanic there and he told me my engine block had cracked. He then offered me three options: 1) purchase a new engine for approximately $9,000; 2) purchase a used engine for $5,000; or 3) he said, "I'm not really in the business of buying and selling cars but I'll offer you $700 for it." None of his options sounded appealing so I had it towed to Craig's automotive in Whittier. The next day Dan at Craig's auto called me and said he had good news; my car's engine had been recalled and he arranged for honda to replace my cracked engine with a brand new one for FREE! Needless to say I was thrilled. That's what an honest mechanic does; he goes the extra mile for you. It would not have been difficult for Fisk's automotive to check my vehicle model for any recalls. However, I suspect in my opinion that they probably did. Which is why he offered me $700 to purchase the car from me. Consumers you've been warned, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!!! read more

I went to Fisk Auto because my car failed smog. Fisk was referred to me by a neighbor. I left my car there and got a call that evening. Mr. Fisk explained it would cost about 1200.00 to get my car to pass smog. I was devastated. My car isn't even worth 1200.00.(96 Nissan Sentra) I told him no, thanks and picked up my car the next morning. My daughter told me to take it to her mechanic, so I did. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. The mechanic my daughter uses told me he might need to replace the 02 sensor but it turns out he didn't even need to do that, he cleaned a few things up, let it sit and idle for a bit, took it to the smog test center and it passed. So with the money I had saved up, I had lots of work done on my car, rear brakes, radiator hoses replaced, oil leaks fixed, etc. All for way less than half of what Mr. Fisk quoted me for smog repair only. I know you read these posts, Mr. Fisk and I would welcome a reply because I am completely confused. I don't understand how one repair shop can want to charge 1200 for repairs to only pass a smog test when another, just as reputable as yours, did virtually no repairs and my car passed with flying colors!. read more

My husband and I took our car to Fisk the other day. One of the employees/owner, who is a family friend, was rude with a poor bedside manner. They told us that our grand total would be $2,500.00 for fixing three different things. This is way too much money! I feel that this is a total rip off and will NEVER take my vehicle back to this place. I know that it is a business, and the idea is to make money, but we aren't stupid. We checked around and can have the same work done for much less money and done by someone who has a great bedside manner. Think twice before going to Fisk! read more

Well I can't say I have had a great experience with Fisk automotive, April 2015 I brought my truck in to address a problem with my climate control blowing hot only on one side, after a week of throwing darts at the problem I was told the dampener was bad one day the actuator motor another day and there last guess was the climate control adjustment module.., They did supply me with a rental car after 3 days of there guessing game and completed repairs in 5. At time of pick up I sat in the front seat of my truck with the manager or owner I'm not sure which he was and noticed sitting in my cup rest several screws that were apparently left off of during the reassembly of my dash components, embarrassed he called a technician over to open up the dash and reinstall these screws. After voicing my displeasure on this matter the bill was reduced to $1,000. Now fast forward to November 2015 7 months later I hadn't needed to use the heater in this California climate until then and my heater was not working with the climate control so I return to Fisk and was told after the first day there was nothing wrong by Chantal I picked up my truck and again it still didn't work returning it the following morning. With Chantal in my front cab I showed her the problem with the climate controll she said it definitely was not working properly and that they would find the problem ASAP. Two days later I had to call for status I was told by Chantal good news and bad news good news they found the problem which was the asporator/ temperature control, bad news was it's located in my headliner cost would be $490. As I ate my lunch I looked online and found that this part is not only inexpensive at $26 but it said its a 10 minute process to replace it I declined the service and order the part myself. The part of arived within a day I open up the headliner and found the wire harness to the climate control sensor was not connected I don't know why or how but I reconnected it and the climate control is working properly. This was a $490 charge that I thankfully avoided. Will not be back . read more

Don't go there! Worst Service I ever had!!! I called early in the morning to ask if they had time during my lunch break for a quick oil change. I work like 10 minutes from there and he said it's not a problem since it wasn't a busy day I should come by at 12:30. I arrived just in time to hand them over my car and the entire crew was having lunch Pizza outside the garage. As I approached them with my appointment they barely remembered even though I called like 3 hours before. Then they asked me how much time I had for the oil change. I told them that I had about 45 minutes to max an hour since I was on my lunch break. Then he told me that the oil change would take at least an hour and if I could come by any other time...I told him that this was the exact reason why I asked him earlier if they could do it quickly during my break?!?!? I don"t know how many people take lunch breaks which are longer than an hour but these guys seemed to enjoy the sunny day too much as there was no customer around and I know that an oil change doesn't take an hour. So no need to make appointments when you get sent home. Thanks for wasting my lunch break. I know that an oil change doesn't bring them big money but at least I expect them to be honest about it upfront and not wasting my time. Maybe they don't need any new customers any more... I was trying to smog my Eurovan last summer and knew I was going to have trouble when the check engine light came on. I've had problems with this before and have been to several area mechanics over the years. Nobody was able to solve the problem. One desperate mechanic went as far as charging me $20 (in addition to some other Hail Mary charges) for a new gas cap in the hopes it would solve the problem. I then went to FIsk because, to be honest, it's clean and professional looking. Chantal went out of her way to make sure she understood my dilemma. About $200 later - problem solved. This after I spent HUNDREDS of dollars and drove HUNDREDS of miles resetting the computer to get it smogged. On top of that, they mentioned that the part that had been "serviced" at the last place didn't look like anything had been done to it. When I called out that mechanic, he confessed that they "sprayed some WD-40 on it". He wrote me a check for those charges in a hurry when I showed up at his busy office. Anyway, thanks Fisk team. I've already been back with other cars and Jack doesn't rush you out the door when you drop off your car. He and his folks make sure they listen to you and know exactly what you expect of them. read more

I just took my car to Fisk for the first time recently for a routine service - oil change, tire rotation, and general inspection. Everyone was extremely friendly, the building is comfortable, and I got a AAA discount!!! Overall it was a great experience.
