The gym set up is horrible and all of my young good looking ladies, you will not be able to get a workout without having a crowd of perverts staring at you. I refer a friend to fitness connection, talked to Bobbi he said it will be 10.00 a month with a 50.00 enrollment fee, my friend came to the gym to sign up because he thought that was a great deal, Only to find out Bobby LIED to me and stated to my friend it will be 22.00 a month plus an enrollment fee. When I called Bobby regarding the LIES he told, he said he never said 10.00 with a 50.00 dollar enrollment. My friend enrolled anyway. My friend wanted to add his daughter to his account when she arrives for the summer, Bobby told my friend" oh to add her will be free. I was pretty excited to go back to the gym after having my son 6 months ago. I was once a member years ago. You would think that returning customers would get either the same deal or some kind of discount. When Fitness Connection first came to the Irving mall, it was a very small and crowded. Now it expanded 100x in its size. I decided to give it a shot again. Everyone knows this place is $10 a month. When my little brother signed up a few months before, all he had to pay was $10 down and got the same deal for $10 per month. My boyfriend needed to get a gym membership. He's been trying to become a Firefighter and a Police Officer. I decided to check out the facility, and I was very pleased with the tour I had. I was amazed at how spacious the gym was. They have every machine that 24 Hour Fitness has and more! The only down fall about the gym is that it doesn't have a pool like 24 Hour Fitness. I like how the sauna is separated. There is a sauna in the men's locker room and another one in the women's locker room. This gym is two stories. The top floor has a small area for anyone to work out in and then the majority of the floor is enclosed solely for women. If a beautiful girl is tired of getting stared at every time she works out, she can definitely utilized the women's work out room! I went upstairs to work out at midnight before. I was very upset that a male janitor was upstairs cleaning the women's area. Before, they had women cleaning that area. I'm not sure if the man was just doing his job, but it would be great if they emphasize on the women's room and not allow janitorial men to clean that area too! Let's talk about pricing. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! They raised their enrollment fee to the point that it feels like you're giving them an arm and an leg. My boyfriend and his dad first went to tour the gym. They advised them that the enrollment fee was $180 per person! We thought that was ridiculous considering the fact that a few months ago, my brother enrolled for only $10! My boyfriend left and told them he couldn't afford it. When I toured, I absolutely loved the place. I was excited about signing up, but there they go again trying to make us pay the same enrollment fee of $180. I asked if they can bring down the price. Tatiana went to talk to her manager and came back with $130 for my boyfriend and $50 enrollment for me. We tried even more to lower the price, but there were no more negotiation happening. I decided to jump for it. They also had another deal you can snag. It's $80 to enroll, but you have to pay $20 per month rather than $10 per month. We decided to just pay the cost up front and take the $10 per month contract. This gym is all about snagging your money. I wish they were consistent with their pricing. Too many changes and different "deals" to steal your money. My friend joined a few weeks ago and got her enrollment fee entirely paid for. My experience has been awful. I have been a member since 2012. For the past 6 months I have experienced so many issues. So I decided to read reviews to see if I'm the only one going through the same thing. Based on what I have read I'm not alone. 1. I was told that if I changed to unlimited locations ($10 monthly membership) that I will only need to pay a one time fee of $69. This info was given to me via email from customer service. They never told me that the $69 could increase. So a few months later I decided to upgrade my membership, I went to the location in Irving, and the guy said ok sure its going to be $99. I'm like huh? I was told $69, the gentleman looked at me and said prove it, I showed him an email and he immediately told me to take it up with customer service. So of course I did, I told customer service what happened, they were able to pull up my email and then told me that the price of $69 is no longer valid. I made it very clear to them that if you tell someone a price without telling them that the price will increase over time then I have every right to believe I should only pay $69. So of course as time went on I spoke with management who couldn't do anything to help me, no alternatives were given, no accommodations, NOTHING, she told me she has no empowerment .. so I had to pay the $99 cause at this point I needed to use 2 locations due to my job. 2. After paying $99 my bill is suppose to be $10 each month but for some odd reason they are charging me $32. I called customer service on Tuesday to fix the issue, they informed me that whoever updated my membership, never removed my original membership so I have 2 memberships. One for $20 and one for $10. So at this point I was charged $32 for 2 months, fitness connection owes me $40 plus tax. I was told I would receive a call back within 24-48 hours with a solution on how to get my money back but I didn't get a call till Friday. They told me that I would be refunded in the form of a check which is fine but it will take 30 days to receive the money they owe me. I asked the lady since it was a company error is there anyway I can get my money sooner, she put me on hold and said there is no other way. I then asked for a supervisor, she put me back on hold, came back and said that her sup is not available, I then asked if there is someone in the building or other centers who can support me she said no. She (Rebecca) then mentioned that she can connect me to another agent. I'm like if you can't help me how will another agent help. I politely asked her to connect me to anyone in management to settle my issue, she then said that she can't keep me on the line for more than 3 minutes and if she keeps me on for more than 3 minutes she is just gonna cold transfer me to her supervisor voicemail(Lashaune) and she did just that. She came back from hold, immediately said "it's been 3 minutes, I'm connecting you to her voicemail" and boom transferred me before I could say anything. I did not want to leave a voicemail I wanted someone to hear me and resolve my issue. This company will be out of business soon if they keep this up. I strongly suggest not to become a Member cause if there is an issue they will put it all on you with no resolution Customer service is mean, the team at the gym are ok but could be better about the memberships and products. Terrible customer service! A kid at one of the clubs put my card on my account (I set it up originally with my bank account when I signed up with World Gym - unfortunately, Fitness Connection 'inherited' my membership) when I was simply trying to buy a protein bar. For whatever reason, he took it upon himself to add it without my permission. My bank detected a fraudulent charge and canceled that card. Since I started a new job, I haven't been able to go to the gym as much, but when I returned, they told me I owed them $108. I was told by one employee I would have to bring in something from my bank showing that -- not a problem! I did just that but was told by another employee upon my next arrival that they couldn't do anything and I would have to pay the full amount. Why wouldn't they at least send me an email or something? It's like they count on this happening so they can charge some outlandish fee. The operations manager in Lewisville was very unprofessional as were the employees. I'm done with this place and am going to be getting a membership at another gym. They don't seem to care about me as a member, so why should I give them any more of my money? read more

The main issue is the deliberate hold up of a refund of membership fees for both myself and my wife. I joined for less than 4 weeks, and canceled due to re-location (I informed them from the start that it will only be a month, at most). I canceled at end of April 2016 and it is the 29th of December, 2016 and they have yet to issue out my refund check. It's been roughly 7 months, with calls in between and multiple promises yet I still do not see anything in the post. If you are Fitness Connection, let's see whether you can at least refund by the end of this year. You can do so much in 7 months...like nearly have a baby! Geez! This is really poor administration. Even volunteer interns can do better - so it smells of deliberate incompetence. I wish I could give less than one star but thats not possible. Initially I signed up to save some money and now I end up getting reported to credit bureau for unpaid balance. What makes me more pissed is I paid the amount in full when I received a letter from collection agency ( I was not contacted prior to that regarding it). Even though I moved to different state I still paid monthly charges for three months when I finally realized that I needed to cancel the service. I called their CS to do so and I was told to send a mail (not email), for god's sake we are in 21st century. I did as I was told and even called to confirm if they received my mail and if my membership was cancelled. And I further asked if I owe anything and they said, I don't. All of a sudden in September I received a letter from collection agency. I called to inquire about that amount and I was told that was annual membership fee. WTH, even when i cancelled membership? I didnt wanna argue so I paid the amount and now in November they reported unpaid balance to the credit bureau. Who can be this careless and play with credit profile of their customer. And fyi everytine I call, 99% time the CSRs are rude. I have opened a case with BBB and lets see how that goes. Oh yea check BBB about their company, I was surprised to see I wasn't the only one suffering from their stupidity and carelessness. Save yourself, find somewhere else and workout with peace mind. So basically I used this facility for a month but end up paying $100+ *****************Update 11-24-2014******************** Exactly a week passed. Two emails and two follow up emails. Also 5 calls to reach supervisors and two promises of getting a call back within 72 hrs but still none happened. The machines are always broken, the space itself feels very cramped and crowded, the other gym members are rude and take your machines while your belongings are still there, even saw a personal trainer with the most annoyed look on her face while training a client. First off let me say I have been a member of almost every gym chain in the area. As far as gyms go this place isnt bad. Its not terrible but there are some things that some might consider to be a turn off. I joined this gym around six months ago or so. It was cheap and close to home, so i figured even if it sucked, I wouldn't be out much. So without furthur ado i will list my pros and cons of Fitness Connection: Pros: 1. The equipent and freeweight selection is pretty good. Most of the machines are newer models and it is well maintained. 2. The workout areas are kept clean. I have seen a couple of the cleaning crew and they always seem to be working hard and taking care of stuff. 3. Most of the staff and personal trainers seem very nice and helpful. 4. Even though I am not a woman, the womans only area is an awesome concept that i think other gyms should adopt. 5. They have a child center (i am not a parent, but for those who do, i guess that would come in handy). Cons: 1. The music on the overhead speakers is absolutely awful. Its good if you overdosed on ecstasy at a rave back in 2004. But my advice is to get familiar with rdo or pandora.....you're gonna need it. 2. The mens room (not the locker room) has a weird smell. I think its because the toilets and urinals are in a seperate room that has a door shutting all the stink in. Btw, make sure you wash your hands (you should be anyway) since your going to be touching a door handle that has been touched by a lot of other guys who have been doing nasty things with said hands. 3. This place gets incredibly crowded. After 5 pm on weekdays. Just go for a run or something. Because the fight for equipment isnt going to be worth it. 4. Alot of the clientele are, how do you say, low rent. Listen, i am not trying to sound like an asshole. But lets be honest, some of these people are only here because 10 a month is about all they can afford. And they have all the manners and tact of people who are not used to having nice things. There is such a thing as gym ettiquette and some of the members need to take a course in that. In closing, i will say that as far as gyms go, you most certainly could do worse. In my opinion, Lifetime Fitness is still the best gym experience, if you wanna pay that much. Of course the place is full of meat heads that ogle woman more than they workout. But thats everywhere. But before you join, think about what you looking for. If you dont work out during peak hours (M-F 5pm to 8 pm). And you dont expect much more than some weights and cardio machines. Then go for it. But if your expecting anymore than that, better look elsewhere. read more

When I tried to cancel online they say you can't cancel online you have to call in only to be told then that you HAVE to mail a letter in to cancel and that I have to give 30 days notice but I will still be charged for the next month??? Not worth it. Joining is extremely easy! I went with a 5 day free pass and the 1st day was pressured to join. Whatever you do, don't fall for it like I did. Tell them you prefer to try it out for the 5 days and see what happens. They make the joining process easy but the cancellation process is a pain. I don't know why they obtain an email address because there's no online access like UFC Gym or anything. Cancellation should be available and/or a option online as well. You try to cancel and they just try to upsell you. They attempted to charge my credit card multiple times even after cancellation. I had to have my credit card company to block them. After I cancelled, they still trying to charge/collect for 3 months. Not a real gym. If you want a real gym, go to Metro Flex. AT Metro Flex its truly month to month with no commitment. A true gym should accept you cancellation when you tell them not when they want to because their trying to meet their "overhead costs". Staff is young and inexperienced. Classes are not fun and instructors are amateur at best. Lots of machines but packed to close to one another. 10 bucks was great until I saw roaches in the locker. You won't be able to hear the televisions because the system isn't set up for that. I have sent 3 letters canceling my membership and they keep threatening to turn me over to collections. There is no wifi and don't let them tell you that the malls wifi will reach it won't. I signed up yesterday with a great offer of one month free and $22/mo. Then they had me initial where your pay an annual fee of $45 and tax on everything, which was never mentioned. I got home and thought that this was no bargain, so decided to cancel. However in order to cancel, even if you are in the 3 day right of rescission, you have to send a certified letter to the headquarters in Webster TX. This is not right. If the sauna is a selling point for you, don't sign up. It has not worked in almost two months and staff have been saying it will be fixed in the next few days" for about that long. The story is that men keep pouring water on it and that breaks it, despite the signs to not pour anything on machine. They are probably right about the men breaking it, but either way at the end of the day the sauna still doesn't work and they are not any closer to a solution. Very very over crowded. I always have to wait to do a work out. Rude service & I didn't feel really welcomed. Every time I walk in they just scan my card & it feels like a lot of the employees have attitude. When I asked one of the fitness "trainers" a question about my diet he just looked at me like I was stuoud. Only two positive comments to report: Great hours and nice equipment. Negative aspects. Poor layout. Everyday I bump into a piece of equipment, as the space is too packed together. NOBODY puts their weights away!!! If the staff doesn't want to enforce this simple rule, then I suggest the staff periodically walk the gym to clean up all the weights. Also, the benches are very dirty. I constantly have to wipe them down before using them. Lastly, the locker room is poorly planned and way too small. There are only 3 sinks and they are crowded together. It's nearly impossible to shave before work. I will have to cancel this membership as it is not for me. Music is way too loud..it overpowers my IPod even. I like a clean, pleasant and energizing atmosphere. Fitness Connection is non of these. The place leaves me very frustrated!! read more

Had a bit of an issue in the beginning with their billing, but I got that squared away. The staff at this location can be a hit or a miss. I do enjoy the workout classes quite a bit and have nothing but praise for the instructors I've had. But the front staff can be a bit uninformed/unhelpful when you're trying to get some questions answered. But all in all, for the price, it really is quite a good gym. So far I've read several times that the sales rep never mentions a 35.95 annual fee. And that's what happened to me if I would've known that in two weeks I was gonna be charged 43.25 for the annual fee but remember it says 35.95 it doesn't say anything about plus tax. Any ways when I told the sales rep that he never told me, he said that was not true that he mentioned everything in the contract. Mind you this it is not a contract it's a month to month gym. So far I have spent 194 dollars in less then a month to be exact in 2 weeks, first the 150 which was split in half to pay for the membership of 129 down plus tax and 10 for the first month which comes out to 150 and some change. Mind you this I opened the membership on March 30th of 2017 and today is the 20th of April. But I went on 18th and called on the 19th, but the sales rep Michael Underwood said he can't give me my refund and he won't either. That if I want to cancel my membership that I would have to do it within 30 days, I said the hell with that shit you can try to collect but you ain't getting a damn dime from me. He gave me a name of a supervisor that wasn't his supervisor at all and a number in San Antonio which Shawn also lied too. First he says he is not the supervisor and then he says he is. He is trying to pull a fast one. But what if I pull a fast one too and put a major lawsuit that had to do with all the wrong things that they have committed. The Staff doesn't make anyone wipe the machines down or put their weights back. Fitness connection is the absolute worst gym!! They are super unprofessional and have terrible customer service. I wanted to cancel my membership so wrote a letter and had it sent to corporate as stated in their guidelines cancelling it. I later received a letter MONTHS later claiming I needed to continue to pay my membership. When I called them to resolve the issue I was given the run around and was told they couldn't do anything about it. I asked them why I was not alerted sooner and no one had any answers! First things first, They gym is only really busy M-Th. On Friday and Saturday, the take is like a graveyard. And when it is busy it's not all day. They peak times like any other place. So for those complaining about it being packed. Then find better times to go. Anyway, my experience has been enjoyable. The equipment and free weights and readily available. And some of training staff are cool and will answer any questions you, plus offer free pointers when they aren't busy. I do only say some because there are a few that appear completely unapproachable. it seems like it's more the female trainers then male. But hey maybe it's just me. As for the staff, they are all fairly young but for the most part kind, courteous and helpful. They could use some more training and knowledge into the products they sell. But that can always be worked on. My biggest gripes would be that, I would like management to enforce the rules better. They have several types of lockers available for storage but I am constantly having to step over gym bags, backpacks, etc. Plus, do a better job of cleaning and and maintaining the locker room and restroom.
