Santiago is a tailor extraordinaire. I've had my clothing altered, and pieces made by him for approximately 15 years. He is a goodhearted, honest, generous, and caring individual. He is one of those rare people, that always seems to have a calming effect on others. One never feels rushed, when he is doing his magic. He is also a perfectionist. I've had everything from a Kaat Tilley wedding dress altered, to a Richard Tyler dress hemmed (look at photo), a wrap made to my specifications, for the black gown in the photo, pant suits made smaller, and jeans altered w/ original hem. Yes, he is a bit more in price, but he stands by his work. BTW, please let him know that I'd said hello. If the quality was so superb, perhaps I could overcome the fact that Santiago is so pompous. But after spending $80 to have the waist taken in and the pants hemmed, I expected the holy grail of tailoring. So when the bottom of the pants came undone, I certainly expected him to take ownership and fix the damn thing without such attitude. I sent my poor girlfriend in to pick up he pants and he was 'so insulted' blah blah. You're not Picasso, you're a tailor. And apparently a questionable one at that. You should never confront or insult your customers, that's why G-d created Yelp. Save your money and aggravation with this place. read more

Don't be fooled by the reviews, I have never met a business owner who is more snobby than this man, Santiago, in a today's world that is customer centric. I live a block away and thought with such great reviews, I'd support a local business. I took 2 pairs of my fiance's pants in to get them hemmed and the waist taken in. We were so shocked when we heard the price of the bill (somewhere around $160 for 2 pairs of pants). A month later, the thread where it was hemmed came undone, so I brought it back. He immediately said it was not from him and it was my fiance who stepped on it so it became loose. I calmly explained that we spent more than average price tag to get these pants shorten, and this had never happened to my fiance when he got his pants shorten at Bloomingdale's (oh boy, he didn't like this comment). Santiago was not happy and said he'd fix it but he stood by his work. When I went back today, I said how are you, he ignored me. I asked if he does fittings for wedding dresses and what his rate was, he reply was "I don't have a rate". Ok, casual conversations end here. He showed me the pants and said he had fixed it, mistakes happen and he stands by his work. He then said I don't appreciate your Bloomingdale's comment and your approach (to get him to fix the pants??). Wow, I've never met someone who can be so bitter and with such an inability to receive feedback from customers. I said "really?" to his last comment and left without arguing with him. In summary, this is a place for wealthy clientele. If you dress poorly and he doesn't smell the money, you won't get service here. I'm sure he probably does decent work if you pay a lot of money. If anything goes wrong, it's NEVER his fault! read more

Santiago is the BEST of the BEST... and his prices fairly represent the exquisite work that he does. He's honest, accommodating and talented! He is currently making my wedding dress... and collaborating with him as been a joy. I have just had a baby and the body isn't what it used to be, but with Santiago's knowledge, honesty and talent... If you are looking for perfection, if you are looking for the best, then you must not go anywhere else but to Santiago. He copied an outfit for me that not even the designer knew it was a copy. He listened to me and he worked with me for days before making me an outfit that I will always remember. I am a little larger than the average woman, and he never made me feel large. Been having my stuff tailored by Santiago for many years. Absolutely love the work he does. I won't take my stuff anywhere else.

The owner is arrogant. He over-hemmed a pair of $240 casual cargo pants. They were so short that I could tell they were wrong before taking them off the hanger! To error is human -so I let him drop the hem and gave up the "rolled cuff" (which by the way, absolutely changed the style of the pants) for a measly $50 credit -- I thought I was being fair. However ever since, he just cops an attitude! Trust me, it's not that I expect him to kiss up to me because I overlooked his mistake, but he can at the very least be cordial while I am patronizing his business. read more

Santiago is a lovely gentlemen and a skilled tailor. He altered my wedding dress to perfection last fall. I found his services to be on schedule, affordable and top notch. For such a special dress, piece of mind is priceless so I was not looking for a "deal". I wanted the best for my wedding dress tailor! But i will say it turned out to be very affordable. It was definitely worth the drive all the way from the east side. I am headed back to Santiago to alter a bridesmaids dress i will be wearing in a wedding this year..I look forward to working with him again to make it perfect for the event! Santiago is the best. Period. I've had him alter pants and blazers, fit a coat (including complex adjustments to the sleeves), make a skirt from a dress I didn't like -- he even made me a new dress loosely based on another dress I own (with significant improvements of his own design...his is much better!).
