Had a bad review with service here. AC isn't working in the car. After the diagnostic ($200+) they find nothing immediate, so they suggest evacuating the system, running it for a few weeks and coming back for additional tests to ID the problem. That would cost another $400 and only get us a diagnosis, no remedy yet. That didn't sound quite right, so I take it to a local garage. They find that the discharge line to the compressor was entirely disconnected. Say that it should have been obvious to anyone who looked. They fix it up, top off my freon and I'm good to go in under $150. Despite several calls to Fitzgerald and promises the manager would call me back, I've never heard from them. Salesman named Hugh constantly called me for a car and I would call back. I told him my credit was terrible and he said they have all kinds of connections. I've already had it run a few times but I already said how bad it was but he said we've got all kinds of banks we work with so they kept bugging me and bugging me. I finally gave him approval to run a credit check and they never got back to me after going back-and-forth for 2 1/2 weeks. They have refused to return my calls or anything. I already know of course they said no, but they can't even talk to me about it. They've just done a terrible job after the fact. read more

I recently purchased a Toyota Corolla LE 2013. My experience with this company was horrible. They took advantage of the one breakthrough I needed to get by. I bought this car specifically due to its reliability and longevity. Tell me why the coolant leaks, oil leaks, and front driver side wheel, plus other issues. You know how much money this costed?! Now if I want to sell the car it costs $3000. Bear in mind, this was purchased in May of this year (2025) please take business elsewhere. You can't fix dishonest customer service. read more

I had a buick, which isn't the best car company to begin with, but it was made exponentially worse by the poor service I received at this place over the years. It's overpriced and they recommend services that aren't needed. I can live with that. But what makes this place truly awful is that they failed, REPEATEDLY, to find important problems with my car. And by important, I mean life and death kind of stuff (brakes with severe malfunctions, for example...and this was after a routine inspection and very expensive repair from another issue they failed to detect at first). To add insult to injury, they're not the friendliest group of folks on earth either, and I've found stuff from my vehicle missing after taking it in for routine inspections. Buick is a weak brand as it is, but if do have a buick (or GMC), then take it somewhere else for service. Avoid this place at all costs, because it may cost you more than just your money. read more

I have had a tough time dealing with circumstances that are out of my control. I was involved in an accident where the other driver totaled my car and this time the other insurance company Progressive have taken several weeks to send me my money and they have not sent it. While they did say the check is on the way, it's going to take time for the check to clear. The general manager for Fitzway Ale Toueg has been very rude to me through email. First, he treated me like a child and told me that I needed to come over and deal with the issue like I don't have things to do or I'm not already trying to handle the situation by calling everyday to have them sending me my money. The next thing he does is threaten me with sending the $2,000 to collections. $5,000 of which, my Aunt has already paid the company and I have already sent Ale Toug a letter saying that I am going to get that money. After telling him that I tried communicating with them today, Ale then doesn't respond with politeness, or with professionalism, or say, hey I will try and do whatever we can to serve you (The customer), he then sends a one sentence email saying that my $2,000 will go to collections. The reason why I am writing this email. Is that before I bought the Transit, Ale, who I believe is the General Manager, has acted extremely nice to me, and then after dealing with this issue he has changed his script by being very rude and since I can't return the vehicle. I am stuck with dealing with him. Lastly, I am a disabled business owner, who has social anxiety and a learning disability. Dealing with phone calls and dealing with people over the phone is very hard for me but I have done everything on my end and I feel that I am being punished for something that is out of my control. read more

Was ready to buy a Jeep that i was working on the paper work for. The salesman Paul said he would be available and when i called to come in for the deal, then he tells me he's not coming in. To speak to someone else, i did to find out the sold the Jeep an hour earlier to someone else knowing I was working on the paperwork to get the Jeep approved. Very poor follow up and this is the reason people detest car sales people as they don't give a shit about anyone but a sale. Extremely disappointed in this dealership. To my shock, the warranty company declined to cover the frozen Infotainment Display screen on my 2018 GMC Sierra -- after approving it originally -- because, I was told by Service Tech Brian Wilson and his Manager Tim G., there was a suction cup on the front of the screen. I asked why the tech didn't explain that I bought the accessory bracket to hold my phone in place after the screen failed so that I could see the GPS map for the rest of my cross-country trip. I asked "Why didn't you take the bracket off, Brian, before you sent in a picture of the screen?" Mr. Wilson's answer was, "How DO I KNOW when you bought it? You need to talk to your warranty company." Right? Why would I buy a dashboard bracket if the screen was working? And what difference WHEN I bought it? The screen was broken, as today's tech confirmed at Fitzgerald, as well as Earnhardt GMC's in Mesa, Arizona when I first turned in for repairs during a cross country trip. I didn't even have the bracket at that point. Meanwhile, the warranty company had approved the replacement when Earnhardt submitted it six weeks earlier. Unfortunately, "supply chain issues" meant I had to leave before the new screen arrived. That's when I bought the bracket. Now it's been rejected so I'm going to have to start all over again at another service center. Not only did Fitzgerald NOT fix the screen, but they broke the warranty claim in the process. I asked for the manager and got connected with "Tim", who basically defended the techs. (Yes, I admit that I called them all morons. And now I'm sorry, but that kind of customer service doesn't even rise to that level.) I'm done with Fitzgerald and this is going to be the first of many, many times that I will tell my neighbors the story about the day the Gang of Morons in the Service Department at Fitzgerald GMC lost my business. read more

I had a positive experience trading in my car here. I did not negotiate because the price was already a killer deal. Customer service was excellent as well. I already was pretty approved for a loan through my bank, so when FITZ quoted me higher, I declined their loan rate. They ended up lowering their APR which was better than my bank! I never get any of the add ons from the dealerships (scams in my opinion) which is what I read in most of the negative reviews. I went in and knew what I was looking for. GM referred me to Fitzgerald for recall service on my airbag. I called to make arrangements, and was told I'd be contacted when the part came in. Six weeks later, I called and emailed for an update, only to receive a call less than an hour later saying that the part "just came in" and that no, my followup wasn't the reason they were finally getting back to me. Told the repair could take a full day, I dropped it off on a Friday morning. They offered a loaner vehicle, but that would have meant more driving through DC traffic, so they took me to the Metro instead. So far, so good! That afternoon I called to confirm the work was done before taking the 45-minute trip back. Turns out it wasn't, and that it wouldn't be done until Monday. Did I want to get that loaner after all? (No, but thank you) Monday comes, and just as I'm ready to go pick up the vehicle I get a call saying... it's still not done, and here's a list of other recommended work (most of which I'll do myself, but I appreciated the list). Tuesday at 8am I get the call that it's finished. I took a train and a cab to get back out there, and pick up my freshly washed (thanks!) car. I noticed immediately that the panel covering the airbag is popped up in one corner and won't stay flush with the dash, and its plastic material has a sticky, almost deteriorating texture. Since they had me pick up keys from the cashier rather than the advisor, I took the hint that they were done with me and my vehicle, and decided to deal with it another day. The service advisor was reasonably easy to deal with and apologetic for the troubles. Still, I was surprised how poorly things went - not least because I was a first-time customer with a car that needs regular service and at 10 years old could be replaced in the not-too-distant future. read more

Nope nope nope. Don't spend twice the money here. GMC recall got us to bring in our 2015 yukon xl, only to find out they couldn't process the recall but that our brakes required a $1600 repair. I declined the repair and got it done at another shop less than 1/2 mile away for $825. Seems like every time it's always something. Since my warranty is now expired I will not return. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would!!!! This review is for the service department. We brought our car here to be serviced for brakes: 1) The car sat for an entire day without being assessed or serviced, despite our many calls throughout the day to check on the status of the vehicle. 2) Because the car wasn't assessed/serviced in a timely manner I lost an entire day of work due to the lack of transportation 3) Finally, once the car was "serviced" the very next day it began to "mysteriously" smoke and a cam shaft position sensor had to be replaced, which took another two days to diagnose/repair. Bottom line I would advise as others have, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE TO BE SERVICED. Called today, oct 28 around 445pm to inquire about fixing my vehicle which has 2 safety recalls. I was told: 1) they are "out of parts" and they cannot tell me when they will arrive, their best estimate is that I would have to leave my car there at the dealership "for a week" 2) They cannot give me an appointment and I have to leave my car there "the whole day". Since I have to work at 730, if I opt for overnight drop off, there is no ride to the metro. If I drop off my car at noon? The dealership will need "another full day" before the work is done. FYI I called 2 other GM dealers in Rockville (Ourisman, King Buick) who both offered to 1) order the parts and 2) set up an appointment. read more

Leaving this here because apparently they block any negative reviews from showing up on their Facebook page: Great place to buy a car if you want to be dealing with a headache for months to come. I traded in a leased VW 6 months ago and had to call and email about 15 times over the course of the next 3 months to get the lease transferred out of my name and be refunded for the months I was charged for the lease (of the car I traded in) as well as my car payment. Then last week I get a notice in the mail from the MVA that my insurance is showing as inactive - the policy on the car I bought was cancelled because I was still showing as the lease holder on the car I traded in so that policy stayed active. Now to backdate the policy on my current car, I owe $600 even though I've been paying for the insurance on the car I traded in. I need documentation from the dealership that I wasn't responsible for insurance on the car after date of trade in - I sent the finance manager, Cody, an email last week which was ignored. My 19 year old son bought his first truck from this place and they totally took advantage of him not knowing the process. Paul the sales guy took my son on a test drive and cranked the music so that my son couldn't hear the noise coming from the truck. As my son is driving it home after purchasing the truck is making noises and shaking when he gets up to 60 mph. The next morning my son gets in the truck to head to work and the check engine light is on. My son immediately called to take it in and asked if he could take to the Fitzgerald in Frederick because it was closer. They told him no that he had to come back to Rockville. Now I see why, the truck needs a new transmission and has an exhaust leak. How did that truck even pass emissions? The best part is they are saying they won't pay to fix it because it has over 100K on it. I am still in the process of telling them we don't want the truck. He has 5 days or 250 miles to take it back. And he is only over the 5 days because it took a week to be able to get it into service. I will never ever deal with these POS ever again. I had a terrible experience trying to sell my car at Fitzgerald Auto Mall. Eric A. worked with me, and he was completely condescending, dishonest and dismissive. He valued my car at $2000, which was at least a thousand dollars less than what my research told me was fair. When I told him that, he explained to me in a tone that people normally reserve for small children: "I'm a real person with real money" and indicated this was the best deal I was going to get in the area in a tone that implied I was either stupid or delusional for valuing my car at closer to $3000. He also told me that I had a huge gash in my tire and it was too dangerous to even drive off the lot, which turned out to be untrue. There was a small amount of damage, but it was not dangerous. I went to a rival dealership who treated me with respect and gave me $3500 for the car with no hassle. Eric talked to me like I was 12 year old little girl who'd never bought, sold, maintained or otherwise dealt with a car before, and he was wrong about everything he said. He significantly undervalued my car out of either dishonesty, disrespect, or ignorance and fulfilled every negative stereotype of a car salesman. I will be avoiding these people at all costs. RESPONSE: Hi Christa, I'm really upset that you're choosing to stand behind a man who was condescending and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. In fact, I've spoken to the BBB to make sure others know that this happened. Because of Eric's attitude, I chose to go someplace that offered me $1500 more for my car, and I would encourage others to do the same. He gave me lowball offer that I was never going to accept, and it's fine that you appraised my tire that way. Those things aren't what ultimately upset me: it was the condescending and demeaning tone in which I was spoken to that was totally unacceptable. Do you treat all your women customers that way? Eric also insisted that I wouldn't find a better offer anywhere (even if I drove my car across the country to where I purchased it from), which was obviously untrue and patronizing. Eric and I both appraised the vehicle in person, so I think all of the "factors" were being taken into account. The dealership that gave me a much higher offer also appraised the vehicle in person and came to a radically different conclusion and treated me like a person at the same time. I encourage anyone who's reading this to shop around before taking a deal from this place and avoid doing business with Eric. read more

I recently purchased a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe from this dealership, and it NEVER would have happened without the assistance of one of their salespersons - AshLee Kirksey. Mr. Kirksey initially responded to my email inquiry about a few cars, but when i went in to test drive the next day, he was not working that particular day. My experience with the other salesperson was less than optimal (I would go so far as to call it "stereotypical" as far as used car salespeople go). I left with interest in one vehicle, but due to the experience, decided to move onto other dealerships. The next day, AshLee contacted me again, and my experience changed dramatically. I am not particularly knowledgeable about used cars, and didn't feel comfortable buying a car without my mechanic looking at it. AshLee was willing to drive the Santa Fe to my mechanic, and while it was being looked over, he was super nice, was able to answer all of my questions about the car, the buying process and pricing. I really felt like AshLee was more concerned that I got the right vehicle for my needs and budget, and not just interested in making a sale. I'll repeat it again, if AshLee Kirksey had not reached back out to me and worked with me throughout the process, I can say with certainty that I would not have purchased the Santa Fe... read more

The worst post-sale service I have ever had. Would not recommend anyone buying from them. The salesperson is nice, polite and knowledgeable about the vehicle he is selling. But once the deal is done and when you begin to deal with the service department, the staff there is rude, dishonest and very unprofessional. After a short time I bought a 2017 CPO Chevy Equinox in June this year, there was a consistent rattling sound in the front, especially when I accelerate to near 40 mph. I brought the SUV to their place for a test, the technician was very unhappy because it was a Saturday morning. He said he had other customers to serve, as if I am not a customer that needs get the test done. He drove the vehicle out for a test and told me there was no problem with the car. When we went back and I was thinking of leaving the car there for a more complete examination, the lady at the service department first asked me to pay about $150 fee for the check. I told her that the vehicle is certified and is still in warranty since I just bought it a few weeks ago. If I leave the car there, I could get a complimentary vehicle for transportation during the check period. The lady assured me that I could get a sedan, but when I went to the car rental office, I was told that all I could get was the smallest size which was totally unfit for me and my family. I had to go back and forth many times during the two places across a large parking lot to get the information straight. At last, I chose to believe in the technician and drove my Equinox home. Unfortunately, a few months later, one afternoon the sound got suddenly very loud and the car was kind of bumpy to drive. I took it to a nearby Chevy dealer to check and was told that there is an issue with the Antilock Braking System, which is a very dangerous situation. What if I was driving it on highway and couldn't stop? I only bought the vehicle for less than six months! The reason for the issue is because the brake was not properly installed when they did the certification at Fitzmall GMC Rockville. Ironically, the service manager there would not cover the cost because it exceeds 3000 miles, even though the vehicle is still within warranty. I was so disappointed with their service department. Service dept I can not rate. We just took our Denali in for our inspection to get our MD plates. Well they failed us for a wire broken of the back defroster. The window is perfect still pops open etc. to replace this wire on one side of the defroster, the entire widow has to be replaced, over $500.00!! The only reason they failed us is to make the money on the replacement of the window!! Our truck is only worked on at a Gmc dealer because I trust them!! I wouldn't replace my window with them or ever go back, will find a new dealer in area. The cars we see driving around with MD plates, I like to know how they are still driving them?? But we fail for a loose wire on a defroster?? Omg get it together you honesty just lost a very good customer.
