The service!! Very bad service took them 20 mins to hand us the menu when it's not busy. I don't like how they don't have takeout too. I had to sit and wait for almost an hour for my food and I have to pack it away myself. read more

Servers need to be friendly. They take too long to greet and sit you. A female server sticked her finger to taste a fountain drink that a client was complaining about the taste. read more

First time at the Fitzpatrick Pub. Thank you fellow Yelpers for the recommendation and photos. Decided to come here for dinner Monday. I overheard the waitresses tell another couple that they ran out of Shepherd's Pot Pie. So I ordered the chicken pot pie. It was a hit, especially with the cold weather. The crust was very flaky.... mmmm.... butter. The filling had chunks of chicken and was good food for my soul. Brought back lots of memories from my youth. My bf ordered the reuben sandwich. The meat was tender and flavorful. It wasn't overwhelmed with sauerkraut and mustard. Everything mixed well. He said it was one of the best sandwiches he has ever had. Smaller than I'd expected, but fun vibe. One waitress, one bartender, both friendly and hustled to cover all. The best Ruben I've ever had - not sure if it's the American palate, but I always have to ask for extra sauerkraut (German mom, we were always heavy on the kraut) but this huge Ruben had the perfect generous amount and it was a full flavored one. The corned beef was thick slabs, tender and juicy. If ever in Solvang again, will get it above all else! The chicken pot pie was almost the size of a football and had a nice pastry crust (not a pie crust). The center of the crust slightly undercooked but also very yummy. Note: they don't have a full liquor license, beer and wine, so cocktails are with lower ABV substitutes. read more

Just stopped in for a beer and was absolutely surprised they have Kilkenny beer! The server was really hustling and doing an excellent job keeping everything running smoothly and all customers happy. 5 stars for service. Minus 2 as there was no restroom around and the closest was not functioning. read more

Had a part of 5 and waited around 40min on a Monday night. Once we interacted with the servers, everything was great! They were humble about sharing the reality of the long wait, which our party appreciated. They only have 1 cook and 2 servers for the whole restaurant, so please extend some grace to then, they're doing the best they can! The food really was amazing and came out 30-40min after we ordered. They have lots of drink options, really wanted to try boddingtons but they were sold out, so I opted for the Kelly cream, suggested by the server. It was ok, not to my liking but it was refreshing. MIL got the crabbies ginger beer + champagne and it was very light! They ran out of shepherds pie so I got chicken pit pie and wow, the crust was flaky, buttery, not too moist/dry. The filling was amazing, huge pieces of chicken with generous portions (they don't skimp out!), lots of veggies like peas and celery (these are not frozen peas folks!), and the sauce ties everything together and wasn't too salty. The fish and chips were well breaded and you could see thick flaky pieces in the fish. There was 4 medium sized pieces of fish and plenty of fries on the side. Comes with Cole slaw too They're not currently doing takeout because of being short staffed so if you have time to spare and can wait in the line, I highly recommend it! read more

The food was bland no flavor. Got a shepherd pie and a chicken pot pie. The shepherd pie was cold and the mash potatoes tasted like the powdered mash potatoes. When asked to talk to a manager about an alternative. We were told there was no management. The chicken pot pie was like a can soup placed in a bowl and with a doughy crust on the top (no flavor).The food upset my stomach afterwards. read more

Went on a busy weekend so the wait was extremely long for a large group of us and place looks like it was short on staff but once seated and ordered placed...the food was served hot and delicious. Orders were huge so plenty of leftovers to bring home. read more

Regular pub in a regular small town, but the Reuben and fish & chips are the some of the best I've ever had. The tartar sauce had dill and capers, actually very delicious. Not some half made tartar. Came here with my wife 3 years ago, expecting some changes to the food, but nope. The food was exactly the same and just as good. The bartenders were great also. Please try this place. read more

Ok place. Some items not available Saturday night. Was told it's to help the cook. Guess it's understandable. Calamari very greasy. Dunking Tomato sauce didn't taste so good. Was a bit of a waste of money but oh well. They also don't serve hard liquor. So beer and a soju type drink but not soju is in the offering. Something to do with the liquor license. Was ok I guess. Fish and chips were good if you like that sort of thing. I guess fried stuff doesn't sit well to me but if you like fried stuff it is a good meal. Server was sensational though. read more

I went here with my family and it was pretty good but wouldn't say it was THAT amazing that you have to try. I got the Reuben because all the reviews said to get it and it was good but nothing special to me. Was just a sandwich. I got my fries subbed for truffle Parmesan as well and the flavor was good but I don't like how thick the fries are. The sliders were a really good deal I recommend getting it and the shepherds pie was good but chicken pot pie is better. The server was really nice but there was only one server and one cook when we came so service took incredibly long. I looked through reviews and this seems to be a fairly regular thing. However, our server was super nice and did great, being the only server during holidays. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated with a lot of seating. read more

Waited an hour before waitress addressed us to say they were closing kitchen in a half hour. Never pointed it out while the line was out the door. Did not hand us menus and then proceeded to take orders of the other patrons sat AFTER us. They claim not to take reservations or use a waitlists, gives both options to customer to simply tell them to just wait in line. Update: in all their years, they still find a reason to not be good the final week and blame it on the customer. Live in your delusion Sammy. read more

First time coming here and I ordered the Chicken pot pie. Was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The crust tasted like it was homemade and it was sprinkled with cheese. Would recommend this to eat here and on our next visit to Solvang, will definitely come here to eat! Great job! read more

We came to Solvang to visit the CA Missions in the area. We discovered Fitzpatrick's Tavern the first night here & we didn't eat anywhere else. The menu has great variety & everything is DELICIOUS! From the Shepherd's Pie, to their Ruben, to the American Hamburger & their onion rings with the ranch dressing.....so good!! The beer selection is amazing with authentic Guinness with many selections to choose from. Sam & Melissa are very personable & friendly. We have always wanted to eat here and tonight we did just that. We waited at the entrance and we were greeted right away. We were seated given menus. We looked over the menu and chose the corn beef and cabbage and a salad. It was the goat cheese and beet salad which had candied walnuts which we got on the side. Wow I'm glad we order what we did the salad was awesome to share as was the corn beef. We also got bread pudding for dessert it was delicious. We plan to return to try more things. read more

We have found it. We have found the perfect REUBEN Sandwich. It is here at Fitzpatrick's. We actually found it last year but I forgot to leave a review. We love coming to Solvang for a few nights. We enjoy a bunch of places but getting this Reuben is what we look forward to the most. After wine tasting, we found a place in town. Nice area, but noticed everything closes by 8-9pm. Yikes. We noticed the chicken pot pie photo on Yelp and thought that was our plan. We made our way to the Tavern. What a nice place. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The special drink menu is awesome. Besides the basic beer options, the mixed beverage options were a hit for us. Of course we went with the chicken pot pie. Wow! So good. Thought it was too big for my appetite but discovered the dish was not as deep. Which turned out to be perfect for my appetite. Meaning, I ate it all. We both did. The crust was so flakey, and the chicken and vegetables were just right. No complaints. Dessert menu was pretty impressive and we saw the mocha pie walk by, but we were too stuffed to partake. If I'm able to give it 0 stars I'd absolutely would. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the drinks and appetizers. This pub had completely flat and watered beers that it's not enjoyable to drink at all. Maybe I got unlucky and came at a bad day but a paying customer has to get their moneys worth as well. How do you mess up a your own star beer which is a Guinness and consider yourself an Irish pub? Very disappointing and really consider about going somewhere else such as the draughtsmen or solvang brewing company (when they open up again) for a good and quality taste of a beer. read more

Will you have the ufc fight this weekend 4/12?

We have a hacked fire stick over the bar. We can usually get UFC pay-per-view and boxing fights on that one, but I don’t like to promise it cause it doesn’t always work. We don’t pay for it.

I see you have 6 tv's, wanna confirm at least one will be showing the Dodger games? specifically next week 4/12!

If we get it, we will show it! Sometimes we can’t these games due to contract agreements. :0)

We don’t take reservations. We seat our guests in order of arrival. If you have a large party, more than 6, you can try to call us and let us know when you’re coming.

We usually offer food at the bar. We didn’t during Covid and post Covid due to being short staffed in the kitchen. It’s not about eating at the bar, it’s more about how many dinning customers we can / could accommodate at one time.

Yes. We have gluten free buns available for any sandwich or burger. We also have a dedicated fryer.

By the time we finally got them, they were cold and a bit hard. When they did reach our table, a server in training accidentally dropped a salt and pepper shaker into our plate of rolls, and surprisingly, didn't seem to think twice about it. On a brighter note, our main server was delightful, and the beef stroganoff was nothing short of heavenly. The meat was incredibly tender, and the mushrooms swimming in red wine sauce were a true highlight. I did find it a bit off-putting to see a surprise 2% surcharge tagged on to cover labor expenses. Honestly, I'd prefer higher menu prices that reflect the actual costs, rather than this nickel-and-dime approach. Employees deserve fair wages, but those extra fees can be frustrating. After all was said and done, my child's meal, my beef stroganoff, and just two rolls--with tax, a tip, and that extra charge--brought our total to just under $100. When I asked to take my leftovers home, I was handed a container to pack it all myself. Maybe it's just me, but when I'm spending that kind of money, I expect a bit more attentive service.

We told him what the woman said and he just shook his head and apologized. This adventure alone took a good 25 minutes. Next up, the food. We saw a sausage combo plate that a young female waitress was carrying and asked if they were different sausages, her reply was "No, All three are the same". We asked the only bartender we could trust and he said they were all different and described in detail what they were a the flavor profile. I thought the ambiance was nice and Danish but the beer and the combo plate was just ok. The owners need to do some remedial training with the staff and teach them how to not only speak with customers but to know what they are serving and where to get it. No pics necessary, but I'd love to go back and allow them to do it again and I will improve my review.

My wife and I visited Fitzpatrick's on a work trip to Solvang. We ordered 2 beers, Sheppard's Pie and Wings. The wait was long, but I understand the hardships of COVID is making things very tough on everyone, that is not my complaint. My complaint is only meant for constructive criticism for the owner, as a means for improvement, because this tavern has so much potential. We were seated by a waitress who's name escapes me. We waited for 15 minutes to be seated, which with COVID, is understandable...however once inside we were the only ones in there. Perhaps it was due to cleaning? Thats understandable...We were seated, informed of the COVID procedures, and removed our masks...Once we placed the order, we waited for our beers to arrive, we saw the waitress pour from the taps, then she disappeared...for 20 minutes...we stared at our beers and considered getting them ourselves....after we got our beers, the waitress ran off as we tried to flag her down to ask for waters...perhaps she was busy, even though we were the only ones in the tavern....after 45 more minutes we received our food. We quickly tried to order 2 waters, the waitress complied and disappeared again....at the end of the meal we received our check....and our water lol..I understand that we have 90 minutes due to the County regulation, but not once did the waitress check on us for refills, how things were going, or inform us of a delay with the beers/food for whatever reason...and being seated for 65 Minutes already, we had 25 minutes to quickly eat, drink and get out. The Sheppard's Pie was subpar (to put it politely) for $17, as were the wings, maybe it was an off day with the cooks? Hey, these things happen. What doesn't normally happen is that an hour later, both my wife and I were both violently ill..... Worried it could possibly be COVID-19, we were concerned and visited an Urgent Care, they informed us that it was NOT COVID, but in fact food poisoning. Not sure which dish it was, but I called before reviewing to discretely inform your staff so things like this wouldn't happen. I spoke to a woman who sounded very inconvenienced and distracted, when I asked to speak to the owner, she put me on hold, then I got disconnected...figured "Hey, maybe they are busy? What with the reduced seating and all?" So I called back and got "Disconnected two times". I thought "ok...maybe they're slammed?" I tried calling back the next day and explained that I previously called and was trying to inform the staff so that this could be avoided with other patrons and mid sentence was disconnected again....perhaps a better telephone provider would help Fitzpatrick's? This was sadly a very horrible first time experience visiting Solvang, we will not be visiting again. read more

What a welcome when we walked into this cliche Irish pub. Not a soul even bothered to greet the guests. We made our own way, inquiring about a table, and what do we get? The alleged manager wearing a kilt, in all his grandeur, shouting at us to go back and wait at the entrance. The audacity! I fully understand it's July 4th, but I've had it with businesses shrugging off their responsibility, completely failing to plan for the completely foreseeable onslaught of customers that come with a holiday like today. Food was good, I don't know if I've ever had corned beef cabbage and the meat was awesome! I would've loved it if the cabbage wasn't over cooked as much but the broth carrots and meat and even the over cooked cabbage were gone! The chicken pot pie was super yummy since we shared that with the table and had leftover thick fries we finished them with the gravy and the pieces of chicken were delish. The Shirley temple was so bubbly sweet and delicious. Beer selection was good, music playing, even better. And I didn't get to taste the calamari my kid ordered but I'm sure it was great since there was only cocktail sauce left. read more

He was friendly with white folks and was giving us the Evil eye the entire time. I will not give him my hard earned money just to feel unwelcome here. Dude this is America and I don't know about Ireland but American people are friendly and extremely welcoming with a nice heart which you are not. I really liked this place. Finally, after so many copies, an Irish Pub that gets it right! The decor and feel of the place just can't be beat and by the looks of the crowd when I was there, I'm far from the only one satisfied. My wife and I visited this place a couple of times during our Christmas/Anniversary vacation. The food was great and the place was rocking. They definitely can use extra help but Alex and Sam was amazing running the place. My wife and I sat at a booth and Alex made sure that we wouldn't leave anything behind. I ended leaving my hat and went back for it the next day. Alex found it and secured it for me in case I went back for it. Every time this place surprises me! I came back to Fitzpatrick's Tavern again with pleasure all the times I go to Solvang from L.A. This place is simply AMAZING!!! I was in Solvang for a few days with my family to celebrate 4th of July, and we literally ate there every singe day :) It was CRAZY BUSY, people everywhere!!! Fitzpatricks is located right across from the Solvang Park. I have had both lunch and dinner here several times. Corned beef and cabbage and potatoes the taste was great and the portion was more than enough. For lunch their burgers are huge served with fries. Pleanty of food for a very reasonable price. The restaurant itself is fashioned in a "western" theme style, which is apropos since it is affiliated with the more famously known Alisal Ranch (a 10K+ acre California luxury Dude Ranch). The restaurant is spacious...plenty of tables and seating both indoor and outdoor. We were greeted as we entered the establishment and seated immediately. It was around 1:30pm and only two other tables inside and two tables outside the restaurant had diners. Our waitress was quick to hand us menus and very attentive in her customer service throughout our meal. I believe the Manager or Assistant Manager did a "table touch" and was very friendly in offering what ever assistance might be needed. The Menu (see pictures) wasn't overly expansive but offered a decent selection of offerings that would seem appropriate in satisfying a wide variety of patrons. After some conversation our Server took our order: Drinks - Watermelon Margarita (5/5) Appetizers (For the Table) - Crispy Brussel Sprouts (4/5), Smoked Chicken Wings (2/5...sadly "fried", bland and not moist under the "fried crust coating") and one of the offered "specials", the Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad (5/5). Mains - Vaquero Burger (4/5 ...it "came" with the "right stuff" on it) with a side Salad, Bison Chile (4/5...if you like chile , this is a good bet), and from the Breakfast Menu, served all day on weekends, River Grill Eggs Benedict (5/5...exactly what one would expect). There was plenty of leftover food to take home. It was a decent meal...but nothing was a "standout" and none of the items served connected in anyway to Solvang's theme (as would have been the case,if we ate at one of the restaurants in town). So on this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion the River Grill At the Alisal certainly met expectations, but unfortunately, didn't exceed them and therefore truly earned this "it has its pros" 3.5 Star Review.

On the bill, I would have noticed the tip was already added to the amount, though there were only 3 in our party. Christopher never said anything and of course happily accepted the additional tip netting him a cool $30.00 tip. I find this deceitful. I understand the business protecting the employee ensuring a tip but he should have stated this clearly when he didn't leave the receipt for us to peruse. Very unethical. Not sure I would return but would be mindful of deceitful practices in the future.

I couldn't help but notice how the staff, dressed in traditional Danish attire, radiated warmth and friendliness while being impressively efficient. For my meal, I went with a Danish pancake accompanied by Danish-style sausage--absolutely divine! My child chose a waffle topped with fluffy whipped cream and a glass of orange juice, which she raved about, claiming it tasted like fresh-squeezed goodness.
