My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding at Five Crowns. We truly could not have asked for a better venue. The Five Crowns was the only venue we toured (after looking at dozens online), and we ultimately selected it because (1) it's gorgeous--you can't find that charm just anywhere; (2) it easily accommodated our small wedding celebration without feeling small or too large; (3) we would pay for only top-notch food, as there was no venue fee--a definitely plus; and (4) they had a raclette station (melted cheese--which we fell in love with in France). Alison was with us every step of the way and helped us make some important decisions. She made everything easy as could be and I cannot recommend her enough. Lastly, the day of the event went off without a hitch. It was the most stress-free celebration I've experienced. The food was incredible, the staff completely on-point, and the venue beautiful as ever. I cannot recommend this place enough. It was surprisingly affordable too. We love the ambiance but the food was ok. The service was good. It is a little pricey for the amount of food you get so I was disappointed in that. I was also a little disappointed in my meal in that I asked for medium well and one piece of lamb was medium well but the others were medium rare, so I did take them home and reheated them later. I would go back but probably not order the lamb, even though I enjoy lamb. read more

We have been fans of this wonderful restaurant since they first opened in the 60's. We have also recommended it for years. We have returned many, many times over the years, most recently for our anniversary. Unfortunately, we will hesitate to return. The service was just ok, the atmosphere was disappointing. Example, I asked why there were no tablecloths on any tables and was told that's what customers prefer these days. That didn't sound correct. The famous bib salad was mediocre, the prime rib was chewy and tough. The desert resembled something from a cafeteria. We mentioned these things to our wait staff and were told things have changed, COVID problems, staffing problems, and tastes have changed. If you love prime rib, then 5 Crowns is where it is at! They are part of the Lawry's family of restaurants, so their prime rib tops all others. This is my go-to spot for fancy dining and special occasions (birthdays, Christmas Eve, etc.). Last weekend I was celebrating a birthday and our server, Jessica, was outstanding! Friendly, personable, professional and right on top of things. She not only made us feel special, but the service was 5-Star. Her bus boy was also on his A-Game and it made for a wonderful dining experience. Now for the food: the prime rib melted in my mouth and was beyond tender and tasty. I am not sure what they do to their roast and sides, but they are out of this world. Creamed spinach, mashed potatoes with gravy, and creamed corn...Yum! We even enjoyed the Pride of the Crown salad which was a pleasant change from most basic salads. We topped the evening off with a nice port and some strawberry cheesecake. If you are looking for a special meal or a night on the town, then I highly recommend The 5 Crowns. Pretty disappointed in our recent visit. Brought our elderly mom for her birthday dinner. She's English and has always wanted to come. Crab cakes dry and lacked flavor. Hot tea was served without a spoon and no choice. Prime rib was barely warm. Hot au jus helped. Yorkshire Pudding a major disappointment. She was looking forward to it. Dry. Chocolate souffle lacked flavor. Served her an English trifle for her birthday. It was dry. Other birthday guest had singers. We had to sing ourselves. Table was drafty. We told them she was 86. Today 8years ago the hubby and I got together. Understand our circumstance I thought we weren't goin anywhere special. The hubby surprised me and made reservation here at Five Crowns. For anybody who's any body that knws Five Crowns is the same owners at Lawry. We got there an hour early, we over estimated the traffic but they sat us dwn any ways since they knew we were coming ((well reservation). Their parking is only through valet since there is no parking on the street on Poppy street (valet $6). When we walked up there's a cute red phone booth. Super cute that's their signature well known display. The dinner was superb! Frm the prime ribs to the crab cake to the dessert has make this lucky girl feel like she's the queen for a day! Our bus tour had booked tables for 60+ people for dinner the night before we went to Pasadena for the Tournament of Roses Parade. This was on New Year's Day itself, a busy day for many restaurants. Five Crowns is a part of the Lawry's chain. We had been asked in advance what we wanted--medium prime rib, chicken, salmon, or vegetarian. I chose the prime rib. You get prime rib when you go to a Lawry's, no? Well maybe. Some didn't. We were told which tables we'd be at by the tour operator. We were each given cards with our name, table #, and dinner choice. Staff came around and took drink orders. After that, they checked what our dinner choice was. First, we were brought a salad with a good flavored dressing and some walnut pieces which gave it a good texture. We had been brought rolls so we had a good start. The entrees were brought. I was surprised that my prime rib was as rare as it was--almost perfect. The meat was not tough nor was it very thick, but a restaurant like this should always serve a steak knife with their prime rib. Using a regular table knife to cut and tear the meat is not the best way to enjoy prime rib. There is never a lot of flavor to Yorkshire pudding so it's customary to serve a side of au jus to dip pieces. This was not provided and there was little juice on the plate to moisten the pudding. Dessert was an apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was good. I have to give props to the staff for being efficient in serving this large group of people. They were pleasant. It felt like I was eating at a banquet. The rooms were decorated nicely for the holidays. I don't think I'd come here if I were ever in Corona del mar again. There have to be better places. I do have to remember that they were serving a pre-arranged menu and it might not be the same size or quality as I might get if I went there on my own. read more

This place is beyond gross , I came for Valentine's Day. My waitress coughed and literally spit on to my food and drinks.she even touched my shoulder and I don't like being touched by anyone especially if they might be sick. I ordered a bottle of wine and was never served once after it was opened. Time and prep for the food took forever and overall service was terrible. The food was worst and were disappointed since we are regulars at the lawry's Beverly Hills and the steak was tasteless beyond belief, the Mac a cheese tasted like medicine. It's really a dive bar associated with a 5 star restaurant. For the life of me I'll never come to 5 crowns again. Horrible horrible experience. I also emailed headquarters using what Rachel A. Had dinner at 5 Crowns in the beautiful glass atrium area. Shari, our server was very attentive and provided excellent service. Cocktails were beautiful and amazing! Prime rib was excellent from end cuts to medium - all 8 adult's ordered PR so that's all I can vouch for. Salads and sides were delicious as well. My grandkids ages 3 and 6 received kids menus and we noticed they sell an "entertainment" package. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, drinks, salad, brussel sprouts, goose, and chicken. The shrimp cocktail, salad, and brussel sprouts were very good and worth ordering again. However, our main entrees were disappointing. The chicken was very salty and the goose was simply overcooked. Overall it was a nice experience, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. read more

I really enjoyed my dining experience here. Charming interior design and really good service. I booked a reservation here for my birthday on a Friday night around 8pm. It wasn't too busy so we were seated pretty immediately. We started with cocktails and the bone marrow appetizer. The combo of the bone marrow and toast was really delicious. Also ordered the beet and burrata salad which was interesting but good too. They offer bread for the table but for some reason take it away before your entree arrives (sad). It all made me too full to finish my California cut prime rib but they let you take leftovers home. They offered me a little strawberry trifle for my birthday dessert and that was alright and we still enjoyed it. Our server Paula was really sweet and made us feel very homey. I think it was her, the bone marrow appetizer, and the prime rib really made the experience for me! First time back since Covid and extremely disappointed. The service and staff were friendly and helpful and reason for 2 stars instead of one. My wife ordered the bone marrow and came out bloody raw inside. They took it away before I could take a picture. I decided to go big and get the 23oz Henry VIII cut thinking that I would have plenty of leftovers to bring home. I was shocked to see how small it was and it was less than 1"thick in the middle (less than the width of my fork). I asked my waitress and she verified with the kitchen that it was by weight and that it was correct. This is supposed to be over double the size (23oz vs 10oz) of the crown cut that I normally get. And almost four times the size of the California Cut and English cut (6oz vs 23 oz). I easily finished my entire plate and was not even full. Although the food tasted excellent (except for the raw marrow), the portion size for the price was unacceptable. We used to come regularly (old Lawry VIP Rewards Member) and this was nothing like how we remember. read more

We had our wedding reception here in October, and I cannot highly recommend this venue enough. Almost 6 weeks later, friends and family are still gushing about what a "perfect" wedding and venue it was. The food is exceptional, the service is attentive and professional, and the ambiance has been been described as "magical" and a "special" event they "will never forget" by my guests. I originally found this venue when I was look for a venue for my micro-wedding, as Five Crowns has a courtyard suited for less then 50 people. However, as my guest count grew, I needed more space and they were happy to accommodate. We booked the courtyard, patio, and garden room, and it was perfect. We chose the floor plan, and it worked out beautifully, as some of my guest prefer to be outside in the gorgeous California weather, while others preferred to be inside where there is AC. Everyone was accommodated. We appreciated that we had many menu options to choose from. Alison, the event coordinator, worked with us to guide us through the options and make suggestions. The service was seamless, the decor is unique and stunning, and the food impressed even the pickiest eaters, being described by some as the best food they have ever eaten. Five Crowns is iconic in Orange County known for its great food and impeccable service. Many have celebrated milestone events here. We had dinner reservation recently and we were very disappointed. It was the first night of restaurant week, but the restaurant was not that busy. Certainly not as busy as some Saturday nights in the past. Our service was terrible. The waitress would stop by briefly and disappear, our plates were not cleared, water not refilled, and we had to ask twice for a few things. The food was very good. We were glad this had not changed! As someone who frequents both side door and Lawry's, it's about time I tried 5 crowns. Same great service and taste, Christmas carolers, beautifully decorated, there is nothing not to love. There are different rooms, most with a fire place, but the green room is pretty special if you can sit there. I have not tried a single miss here as I have ordered off the five crowns menu over at side door as well. Farmers market salad- so fresh and soo good. So many great tastes of seasonal fruits and cheese. The crab avacado toast was delicious but probably my least favorite thing we ordered. I love the food here but my favorite happened to be a drink this time- Cran you dig it- Christmas twist on cosmopolitan- strong and delicious. I was in a real good place really fast while enjoying my drink! I really recommend the Prime rib- on the bone. I got the biggest cut because I enjoy their meat even the next day as a leftover. We chose Five Crowns as the location for our 6 year anniversary, and are so happy we did. A bread crumb from The Oyster Rockefeller almost took me out, but to be fair it was to die for! The truffle fries were Bomb! Our waiter Tyler had the best hospitality! I've never eaten Prime rib before so he told us step by steps on how he would best enjoy one. I enjoyed my birthday dinner here. I wanted to find a restaurant that is really special for an occasion and this place did not disappoint. I reserved in open table and noted we are celebrating a birthday and they acknowledged my birthday from check in but felt the front desk didn't tell our waiter so a fumble in there handoff. We had to somehow mention to the waiter ourselves. We ordered crab cakes as our appetizer and it's full of crabs and not binders. This was a really good start to our meal. We then ordered the crown salad and the burratta, tomato salad. I have to say the burratta salad was delicious and will order again. For main course we ordered the prime rib, Henry the VII and we did a split plate, added a side of mushrooms and there were a variety of mushrooms, which was full of flavor. At this time our waiter asked if we wanted souffle, which we did. The souffle came and it was still warm. I would order this soufle again. But, I was waiting for my coffee that seemed forever to take. And wished they delivered the coffee first, instead of the souffle. Harder to wait for coffee when you had a mouthful of rich dessert. Anyway, with little miss here and there. My dining experience was really good, I would not mind coming back here from a special occasion, I just wished it was a 5 star experience and if your guests are celebrating a special occasion try and sit them in the section with white tablecloths, not at the mezzanine right next to the next table. I had a spectacular experience here at Five Crowns. When I first got there, my car was parked through a valet very quickly and the attendants were nice. Once I got in the restaurant which was a short walk across the street from the valet I was seated promptly after about a five minute wait. All the decorations inside were fancy and the lighting was nice too. The waiter was extremely friendly and tried to make the whole table laugh. They had two menus, one was for the main restaurant and the other was for the side restaurant and it had much lower prices but you could still order both. I like that when they brought out the bread they gave you the option to salt the butter yourself. My table's food was brought out fairly quickly and it was great! It was all cooked perfectly and the desert was great as well! I would strongly recommend everyone to go try Five Crowns at least once in there life. read more

Sadly I have given up on what was my all time favorite restaurant and place for prime rib. It just has not been able to hold up it standards and a little while back I was in the side bar place which is an extension of them. I had an incident and the response I got from management was not what you would expect from a fine and long standing restaurant. I think they have forgotten the phrase the customer is always right. This was a bit back in time a few months but had not had an opportunity to write this. It pains me but I like to let people know what to expect. If everything is to your liking you will love it. Went to five crowns on a Friday night. The place is a nice smaller quant place. The service here is great!!! The servers are very nice and make sure your taken care of!! What a great place. The salad came out first. Very good!! We got the prime rib which was great!!! What else can you say?? Great food!! The parking is right across the street. Valet is great. Easy in and out. Back in town, and went with a classic for Memorial Weekend. We were a party of 6 with a reservation, and were taken immediately to a lovely table by the fireplace. Our first ever Thanksgiving meal in a restaurant. We chose The Five Crowns bc we were there some 30 years ago. Of course we ordered the turkey dinner. Our appetizer was the potato and parsnips soup which was extremely delicious. The turkey arrived on time with fantastic stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes and green beans. I remembered they had popovers Free with steak but $6 for us. I had to send mine back as dry and our waiter brought me another not bad but I won't order again. My wife wanted a few more green beans the waiter told me that should not be a problem but came back saying we had to buy a side for $12. We opted for the "chewy" and overcooked Brussels sprouts another 'never again'. The meal was supposed to include cranberries compote which was omitted. Essentially we paid $18 for add Ins bc the meal unlike the steak, didn't qualify for their famous Yorkshire pudding (popovers) and bc my wife wanted a few more green beans. I suppose the waiter was congratulated for stepping the patron to an extra $18. But I digress. The turkey was quite tender and delicious as was the gravy. The server was attentive as was the bus person. We were greeted with broad smiles and fond goodbyes. Summary is great food with plentiful portions, deep rich flavors and an upscale presentation. We passed on dessert bc well they didn't have pumpkin pie on the thanksgiving menu(go figure). I recommend The Five Crowns with the caveats above. They lost a star for putting the almighty buck above customer service in that the waiter did try to get my wife some more veggies and was bounced back with buy another side order.
