My first memory of Jollibee's, a Filipino-based chain, was from Southcenter in Seattle, where I discovered their very good fried chicken. The Seattle location was wildly popular, and so is this Alexandria outlet. So practically speaking, due to the popularity, it may take some time for your order to be prepared. Be patient! The kiosks help with getting your order in, but when I used the kiosk, it errored out when I tried to order a fountain Pepsi. That's OK, I'd rather have Coke anyway, which they do not have at Jollibee's. Even though chicken is Jollibee's specialty, I wanted to try the Angus Cheeseburger. I also ordered an Ube pie. The burger was pretty good. The bun was great and so were the toppings. But unfortunately, the meat was salty as all get out. I don't know if that was a one-off experience or that's how they do their burgers. I have very fond recollections of Ube ice cream in the Filipino halo-halo dessert, so I had high hopes for Jollibee's Ube pie. It was nice that they heat their Ube pies. The crust is very good. But the Ube filling was disappointing. It had zilch Ube flavor and was kinda runny. Still, I'm glad there's a Jollibee's here in NoVA (there's also one in Chantilly).

I entered at high noon on a weekday and was surprised that there was only one other customer. All the other tables were empty. The aromatic scent of pho filled air. Did they also serve pho at Club Sandwich (I didn't check the menu) besides burgers and sandwiches? Or was the aroma from Pho 95 two doors down? I decided what I wanted to order, but there was a problem. There was nobody at the counter. I waited maybe four minutes to see if anybody from the back would come out to take my order. But nobody came out. I was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer, so I just left. Club Sandwich could at least have a bell on their counter to get somebody's attention if they aren't going to man the counter.

And their portions are big. We ordered 12, half plain and the other lemon pepper. The base wings is flavorful enough to savor. The problem lies in the menu. Looking at the screen as initial point of contact, you feel like you opened a box of jigsaw puzzle. The Club needs to organize and simplify their menu and classify according to wings, burgers, bowls and sides. That would solve the problem. Change the shocking blue background color and take out the pictures of the burgers which look very similar with one another to free up more space. Additionally, you feel like you're in a mini Cheesecake Factory with so many choices available. Simplify the menu! Also, let go of your separation anxiety with all this huge printed merchandising materials, some of which have been there from the start! Then there are standee signs that list other order options. They make the place look cheap and dated. Worse, they're confusing and an eyeful. One sign featured all the Korean chicken variants while another tucked away somewhere reveals you can get the lemon pepper and other interesting sauces and toppings. Put it this way, if the Restaurant Makeover show and Chef Gordon Ramsay came over, they would change 2 things: simplify the menu and add some pop to the interior. Get professional help on these please. Don't "wing" it and hoard on the huge menu boards like you were archiving old photographs. Have the owners noticed that more people are doing take-outs rather than dining in? A one day make over of fresh paint with vibrant new furniture (they have the same ones 7 years back) and simple menus with one or two picture boards would make this place rock and do justice to their awesome chicken wings (if only you knew that you can get more that 10 flavors to choose from)! Hopefully, The Club will merit my Yelp record of 4 reviews for a single restaurant culminating in one that showcases the true potential of this place.

Everytime I eat here my chicken is either too dry or the skin is too flabby... not crispy at all. The Yucca and other sides are the only thing that save this place. Their sauces (which are pre-packaged) taste so odd... almost like they belong on a salad and not chicken. If you grew up eating Peruvian chicken then you know exactly how you want your sauces to taste like and Sardi's sauce really miss the mark. They have a huge fan base, regardless of what I've said here; maybe they love it due to nostalgia, but the Alexandria location is not it!!

Most of this operation appears to be take-out. We placed a pickup order online and it was waiting for us by the time we showed up. We ordered two small chicken bowls and one "feast mode". The "feast mode" size was actually challenging for three people to finish! The "hive sauce" tastes like a honey mustard with maybe mayo? It's pretty good. I really wish Flavor Hive would have additional toppings - just cucumber tomato onion cilantro etc are quite minimal. Would be awesome if they could add something like beet salad or beans! The value at this place is excellent compared to the numerous other rice / slop bowl places in the area. It is a lot of food. When I called the phone number listed on both the paid receipt and from Google, I did not reach the restaurant. Instead, the call was answered by a male individual phone comes up from Vienna and did not appear to be affiliated with the restaurant staff on-site. This alone is unacceptable. The individual who answered was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Multiple witnesses overheard the conversation, which has been documented. We were not initially seeking a refund -- only verification of the missing order and whether it could still be picked up. There was zero effort to assist, no accountability, and no urgency to resolve the issue. This level of disorganization and lack of customer service is unacceptable for any restaurant. If Flavor Hive continues to operate this way -- including routing customer calls to unprofessional third parties -- it will absolutely damage the business and its reputation.
