Just ate at Five Guys (Epps Bridge). We've always loved their burgers & fries! I've gotta say I'm disappointed. Ordering was fine. While we waited we saw 3 other customers literally filling brown bags with the roasted peanuts (one out of the 3 only filled half the bag). But geezzz, maybe that's why the prices have skyrocketed. It was $29.97 for 2 little hb, 1 regular fry & 2 drinks. Then, the food comes & they were very chintzy with the fries. The order was correct, burgers were fine but $8 for that amount of fries was the reason that's probably our last visit to FG. Next time we'll likely go to a steakhouse. read more

We are lucky in Athens to have a lot of places you can get a good burger. If you want something fast and tasty you need to eat at Five Guys. Fresh burgers with exactly what you want on it. They have the little burgers which is one patty or order a regular burger which is two patties. You get to pick exactly what you want on it. If you get a regular hamburger or cheeseburger with five or six toppings you are looking at a 3-4 inch high burger. The fries are really good. They pile them in your bag. A little order of fries can feed two people. Again if you don't want a restaurant or bar burger this is the best place to go. read more

Great burgers & the Cajun fries have some zip to them. There's a wide selection of free toppings that you can add to your burgers or hotdogs. They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches for the littles. The peanuts in the shell is a tribute to our Southern roots and the kids love them. The only set back is that it is rather pricey. You do pay for a good quality burger, fresh cut fries, & this isn't a fast food place (even though they do a great job getting the food out quickly). Everyone at this branch is super nice. Combined with great service across the way at Trader Joe's we had a customer experience almost unheard of in the States (or in Japan for that matter). Don't get the bigger fries. The regular portion was actually too much for my wife and I to share. The burgers are good for what they are but they completely fall apart and make a total mess. Well today I did, let me start by saying the restaurant was very clean, all customers and employees were wearing masks. Social distancing was easy to accomplish lots of space and no inside dining was available. Outside there are a few picnic style tables to sit a I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger which is a nice big double cheeseburger. Cooked right there for fresh ground beef, not PETA friendly. This burger was wonderful everything on it was perfect. I have to say for my first visit the burger was worth coming for, even at the $11 price tag. The burger is sold Ala Cart no fries included. So for $4 more for the smallest order of fries. The fries were fresh cut skin on fries, served hot and perfectly cooked. The little order was a lot of fries see picture. When you cook fries with the skin on lots of places under cook them and they just suck but not here. I can't say it was the best burger I've ever had because it wasn't, but it was a great burger. Welllllll, all I can can say I was significantly underwhelmed by my 1st visit to Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, probably due to my buddies absolutely going crazy whenever anyone mentions the place. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, small fires, and a small Coke, then was significantly shocked to see my total over $11.00. Really? 11 bucks and change for a fast food lunch for one? Come on now.... To be fair, the burger was tasty, though not nearly as tasty as the store signage and my buddies had built it up - I was expecting trumpets to sound or a ray of sunshine to bask in when I took my first bite. The selection of toppings for your burger was nice, though these days you can get what you want on a burger pretty much anywhere. It was a good burger, just not the crazy goodness I was expecting. The fries - ahhh the fries. Another disappointment. After hearing my pals and seeing other reviews rabidly slathering praise on the fries, mine were soggy. There were a bunch of them, mind you, but they were still soggy. They did taste like they would have been decent had they not been completely soaked in grease. A small order of fries would easily be enough for two people to share. I should say that though this sounds like a negative review, it's not really, just that Five Guys was so built up to me I'm not sure anything they served could have met those expectations. The burger was good, but The Varsity does this kind of food much better for less money. I really like Five Guys, despite not wanting to like Five Guys. I mean, it's a CHAIN and chain restaurants are BAD and GROSS. Five Guys really isn't, though! I've been to the one in downtown Athens once, but the boyfriend and I tend to go to the one on Epps Bridge because parking isn't such a huge freaking ordeal here. I will say that I like Five Guys' burger better than any other burger in Athens. I mean, it ranks up there with my favorite burgers of all time, and it kills my independent-business-loving soul to say this about a chain. The fries are good, the burger is freaking transcendent. It IS a little pricey for what you get, but it's a very nice once-in-awhile treat. Besides, do we really need to eat big greasy burgers all the time? Hell no, we're in the midst of an obesity epidemic! I've yet to eat at a Five Guys anywhere else, so all I can base this review on are the two stores in Athens. I know this chain has spread throughout Alabama and Tennessee like a virus in the last year or so, but I live here and haven't tried a Five Guys anyplace else. I don't get it. Not a bad burger. Generous toppings, average meat, cold doughy bun but overall tasty. Fries are terrible. A soggy greasy pile of something that no longer resembles potatoes. Although I got my food quickly, the mound of fries was stuffed into a bag where they steamed themselves into a a consistency of noodles before I could get them out of the bag at my table. It's a chain, but they still make a really good burger. I usually opt for the little burger with as many ingredients as I can fit on it. The regular fries are awesome and enough to feed two people. Stick with water and a couple can eat under $20. Get the regular burger, your own fries and a drink each and you're pushing $30+. Love Five Guys. As chain joints go, they are one of the better burgers. I've been to many a-one in various cities and this one is definitely among the best. Their burgers are great and they have lots of different toppings to choose from that are all included in the price of the burgers. They've got two different size burgers to choose from which can come with or without bacon and cheese, which determines the price. The fries are fresh and they always give you a generous serving. I would recommend getting the fries cajun style, and this particular location had such great service as to make sure my fries were the right degree of cajun before seasoning the whole thing. The bacon is always perfectly crispy and the burger is juicy but not greasy. I'm on the ketogenic diet and Five Guys is totally keto-friendly. You can either get the burger in a bowl or wrapped in lettuce if you are trying to stick to a low carb lifestyle.
