It's been a while since we ordered burgers from here. And it has always been really good but last night I have to say it was just okay. This time it seem to have very little amount of what I requested, like mushrooms, lettuce, grilled onions etc.... It was the flat burger and buns and that's it. The fries are usually very good and plentiful. Still very generous with the fries even when you order the small or medium. HOWEVER, it was loaded with salt. Yes, it does resemble In-n-Out, but I don't think it really matters. I appreciate the topping variety they offer, although many of them I'm not particular too. No avocado :( I was interested in the two size varieties - regular and "little". There wasn't anything really little about the size of my "little" burger that I tore up. It was average size, just less calories. Maybe that's what the menu should read: Lots of calories option or normal calories option. The fries were decent and a huge portion. We ordered one large and split them between the four of us. I did notice all of the accolades they promote. Don't they know that Zagat is so 2000 and late. Where's your Yelp sticker at?!? We arrived in Elk Grove later in the evening on Valentine/Prez Day weekend. Tried to go over to BJ's Brewhouse for dinner only to find we couldn't even get in the front door, which is a good sign for them I suppose... but didn't help us! This place has an amazing business model that more establishments should take note of (especially in my neck of the woods). 5 people run the whole operation. Their menu is extremely limited, just a burger 4 different ways, fries 2 ways, drinks.... Here's where it's different though... everything is made fresh.. and you can tell! And you're offered over a dozen topping options for your burger that make the potential taste combinations astounding. And all toppings are FREE! They don't ask you if it's for here or to go, and it doesn't really matter to them.. they just bag it up for you and you choose... stay and eat in the well-lit, establishment as rock out to the tunes, or take it home... it's up to you! We chose to stay, because the place was clean (bathrooms were too!), and any time a place is blasting Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon over the speakers, I'm down. Now... the important part.. the food! AMAZING. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, with only the toppings I ordered. The Fries were hot and FRESH... they actually tasted like potatoes! And, while the place was jumping at 9pm, they kept things rolling and the wait wasn't more than 5 minutes. And honestly, we would have gladly waited twice as long and paid twice as much. Just one order of regular fries would have been MORE than enough for us BOTH... now we know! I've been to FG's several times, but this was my first time at this locale. This review will be short and to the point. I'm a big fan of getting 'extra' fries in my order. I mean, why wouldn't anyone love getting extra fries at the bottom of their bag??? I've yet to meet anyone that minds this type of generosity, and Five Guys is willing to accommodate. Word on the street said this place was just as good or even better than In and Out. Ehh... it was alright. Lunchtime was probably not the right time to go, since it was our first visit. We felt a bit overwhelmed, and rushed because it was super crowded, and very noisy. The decor was interesting. They had stacks of bags piled in different areas of the room. Maybe it's there for crowd control? Lol. Since it was a pretty decent day outside, we wanted to get a table outdoors. We had to hover over the tables outside because they were taken. Once we got our burgers, the first thing out of my husbands mouth is, "for two burgers, two fries, and one coke, it was $24!" That's a bit expensive! So, I was hoping the burgers would make up for it. It didn't take long for us to get our food. Horrible customer service we ordered a couple if bacon cheeseburgers with 2 patties and 2 out of 4 of them had 1 patties in it. They had argued with me when i asked them to please fix my order and they continued to argue about how I said the order wrong and they had snatched the receipt out of my hands. They had also forget to give the customer there drink and there change back. Once we had got home we where looking through the order and they still had got the order wrong. This place was really just okay to me. There's not much to rave about so I'll try to keep it short...(but knowing me, what are the chances?) They have somewhat of a confusing menu to me, and I found myself asking a lot of questions. First thing about it is that they do not offer a meal. So you have to order everything separately which was really annoying. Therefore, there's also really nothing on most of the burger orders and you'd have to let them know to add in all the extra like lettuce, tomatoes, and sauce for example. On the bright side, the add-ons are all free. They have their regular burgers with two patties and "little burgers" with just one. It didn't seem like much of a difference to me. I settled for the little bacon cheeseburger with added jalapenos, hot sauce, lettuce, and grilled onions. I kid you not, I probably ate the whole thing in like three bites. Maybe two and half. Not because it was that delicious and I'm that much of a beast, but because it was that small. They charge so ridiculously much for a tinyass burger. And it pissed me off a bit to be sitting there eating while reading all of the huge signs on the wall quoting different people talking about how this is such a *delicious and inexpensive* burger place. UH, MY ASS. Are they like all celebrities or millionaires or something? This place is however, generous on the fries though. One order would definitely be enough for two people to share in most cases. I ordered the cajun fries for my friend and myself. How was the food tasting...hmmm. Well, I don't have anything bad or good to say about it really. It was overall just very average to me. The burgers were fresh since they were cooked to order, but the lettuce was still super soggy. Jalapenos were not the pickled kind which surprised me. Couldn't really taste the grilled onions (maybe because there were just little bits and pieces of it in the burger). And the cajun fries...they were good. But personally for me, I like my cajun seasoning to be more spicy than herb like and this definitely had a very powerful oregano taste and scent. Fries were hot and crunchy and that's something we all love. So good for them. But as far as seasoning goes, it's just a matter of preference. I'm not a huge fan of their fries, but my friend loved it. We both agreed on In-N-Out and The Habit being much better alternatives. And since the three are located so close together...there's probably no chance of me returning here for as long as the other ones remains opened for business. read more

I keep reading people making comparisons between Five Guys and In and Out. The color theme of the restaurants is alike, you order before you are seated, and they both make hamburgers and fries. I think that is where the similarities stop. The seating at five guys is spacious and all of the chairs are detached from the tables so you do not feel like a sardine in a tin can. Since the place is new and you are not familiar with their ordering system, they have someone there to tell you the ins and outs of their system before you get to the register. The regular burger has two patties, the small burger has one, toppings are free. You have a choice of the regular toppings of mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. If you want it all, you say "all the way". Additional ingredient that are not included in the all the way but are also offered for no extra charge are relish, onions, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1 sauce, bar b q sauce, or hot sauce. All the employees seemed courteous, professional, and well trained (not like McDonalds). I ordered a bacon cheese burger, regular sized Cajun fries, and a regular soda. The price came to $11.17. The hamburger was very close to a bacon mushroom six dollar burger that I have ordered at Carl's Junior. I think they must have made a mistake on my fries because they were not crisp and lacked any flavor at all (thank goodness for catsup and salt). Again it was a lot like Carl's Junior. My advice would be, if you like their burgers and fries, go to Carl's Junior and save some money. read more

I was hanging out with some friends from NY and they recognized it instantly and claimed it was the "In & Out" of the East Coast. Obviously, being a huge fan of In & Out, I couldn't NOT try it. The first thing I notice was this place had a ridiculous amount of Peanuts. Peanuts Peanuts Peanuts.. they were free! But they were everywhere, I thought I was in a circus full of elephants! So I take a look at the menu and it's pretty massive as you can customize your burger anyway you want with a plethora of fresh ingredients.. Hmm.. pretty impressive I thought. They have a "normal" burger which was 2 patties and a mini burger that was 1 patty. So I ordered a mini burger with a jalapeños and some other goodies, with fries, and a drink. The total was almost $10 for my meal! After finishing my meal, the burger wasn't bad. But for $5-$6, it just wasn't good enough. The fries was probably the most tasty part of the meal. I was honestly disappointed and would easily choose In & Out over this place. The burgers at In & Out are simple, yet absolutely delicious and HALF of the cost. I'm not sure how anyone can complain about that! Sad to say, I will not be coming back here. Perhaps this is an indication that the East Coast is just not for me, or maybe I'm just smoking crack and trying to find ridiculous correlations that make no sense.
