It's yummy, different than In-N-Out, not better. The flavor of the burgers we tastes very homemade because it's so juicy and fresh. The counter people could've been nicer. They were kind of just staring at us and pointed at the menu when I said it was my first time. I got the mini burger (which is a good choice because the regular is pretty gosh damn huge) and my bf got a bacon burger with the works. We chowed everything down pretty quick, with the large fries we shared too. If you're really hungry, I'd say go next door and try Premiere Pizza because you can get 2nds on slices. But to satisfy your burger craving, Five Guys is the place to go. It's a bit pricey, but it's a good way to get the home cooked flavor in a quick way. I'm not going to compare five guys with in-n-out like everyone else or to the habit which is now also near by to the two and also is around the same price range. All three have different flavors and taste. I just didn't like five guys. I don't understand why a lot of people rave about it. I understand you can add a lot of toppings if you like but there's really nothing special about the taste. It tastes like I bbq'd some frozen patties I bought from the store. This is so much better than In N Out by a mile! I heard of this burger joint and it's finally in Fremont! Come prepared to order. It's a lot to take in on your first visit but Ann L. gave a great Yelp review that will help you. The reason you should be prepared is to keep the line short and sweet. It seems the longest wait is to order. The person working behind the counter is giving everyone an excellent explanation on how to order but it does eat up other people time in line. The long part is waiting to order, everything else is fast food. Once we ordered, before we could fill our drinks and get ketchup dispensed, our order was ready. Now that's fast food. Note: Do not order the Everything. It tastes horrible because you really can't taste all 15+ condiments in your burger. The small french fries is enough for 4 people...seriously! I'm taken a back by the cost of the burgers but if you think about it, it's about the same cost as In N Out when you Animal It. It's already included in the price for all the extra condiments. During my East Coast trip, friends would recommend to go here but I never had the chance to. So when I heard there was one in Fremont, best believe that I was going to give it a try. Upon walking in, you can see why it's compared to In-N-Out: same red/white color scheme, freshly made burgers, long wait for food, etc. I ended up ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger (with the works + jalapeno) with an order of Cajun Fries and a regular soda. The burger was not as messy as I expected, and came out fresh-looking like a burger that someone could make at a BBQ. The cajun fries seemed like regular fries that was poured by cajun powder that you can buy at a grocery store. The fries complemented with the burger pretty well. The major downside of their fries is that they are pretty greasy. When I got my order, there were various grease spots all over my bag. The amount of grease spots was nearly the equivalent of a dog from 101 Dalmatians. The best part about the fries is that they give you a boatload of fries. Even after removing my cup of fries from my bag, there was a bunch of bag fries (fries that are on the bottom of the bag). Bag fries = win!!! I'm not sure why they have all the East Coast reviews on the wall and be proud of it since we all know West Coast and East Coast have totally different tastes. duh! West Coast have better taste! The burgers are bit bigger, it was good to have other condiment options.... but good burger does not need condiments to make it good. I thought this place looked like In-n-out with the white and red patterns without the palm tree icon. This place was busy and people just kept rolling in so we knew this place was our dinner choice. You order what you want at the cashier and find a table to sit. Our food came less than 10 mins. Holy Yum! The regular cheeseburger with 2 patties with "everything" (all the toppings) was so juicy and flavorful. It made me pretty full so maybe i'll stick with the "little" cheeseburger with 1 patty next time, but i did finish the whole burger. Definitely get "everything" with the burger. People always compare Five Guys with In N Out. I mean, they look the same, offer kind of the same foods, but you have to admit, Five Guys is a little bit different! One difference: they offer so many different toppings for their burgers. Another difference: it's pricier! They have the regular sizes and the "Little" sizes. I always order the Little size and never had a problem with being hungry afterwards. Besides a regular Cheeseburger, the boy also ordered a Cheese Dog. It's definitely a little expensive for the size - and it was just aite. (Definitely go for the burgers..) We normally always get the large cajun fries, but we still aren't able to finish all of it. Good thing I have younger brothers at home! I kind of wish they didn't use ugly foil looking wrappers.. cause man, taking pictures of the food was hard. I dont eat red meat so this is based on their grilled cheese. I liked the fact that they had a grilled cheese with veggies (specifically mushrooms) but too bad that it wasn't all that. Soggy and sloppy is how I would describe the sandwich. Fries were good but I prefer skinny fries over steak cut. Hate to compare but I will stick to In 'n Out (great company, fresh ingredients, always piping hot!) when I need my grilled cheese fix. Lastly, the thing that really irked me about this place was that their packaging seemed very wasteful. They dont have eat-in trays, so they wrap everything to-go. Alright, finally a Five Guys Burgers here in the West Coast. We've heard about it and seen it on TV, now finally time to experience it. First of all, NO DRIVE THRU. 2nd, NO COMBO meals. So being affordable is out of the question. The burgers are $4-6 for just the burger alone. A hot dog is $4-5 for the hot dog alone. Fries, if you already didn't get the point, have to be ordered separately. They cost $2.xx for small, then $4.xx for large. Then don't forget the drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the place is big and roomy. It is fountain style drinks so you can refill as much as you want. Nice addition are the unlimited peanuts you can take while waiting for your food. I don't see this staying too long being in the Bay Area with the many CHEAP @$$ Asians taking advantage and doing something ghetto/cheap to spoil it for everybody--- and before you say anything, I am Asian and I will admit have been guilty for ruining a good thing haha. So how does it taste? I can only speak for the burger and fries. You can order the Five Guys style or Cajun style. They said the Five Guys style are just your plain ol' fries. So I ordered Cajun. I don't think we got Cajun cause it tasted like ordinary fries. Also the frys are not like In and Out, not like Mcdonalds. They are those big cuts with the skin still on it... In-N-Out with always be number one for me. I had to try this place because of all the hype. Okay, what I liked about the place was the meat tasted fresh. It was very tender and you could tell it was freshly grounded. The bun was very soft and tasty. The little hamburger has one patty while the regular size one has two. The little one was big enough for me. What I didn't like was how they had all these rating and reviews all over the place talking about how famous they were. Honestly if I made burgers customized to whatever everyone liked, I would probably get high ratings as well. Since you can customize the burger, I don't think anyone would come out of there dissatisfied. The major difference to me about this place with in-n-out is that it has ingredients that you can find in the grocery store and at an ordinary BBQ (AI, BBQ, relish, mayo, etc.) If I tried hard enough, I could make my own burgers at home because the ingredients can be bought in a supermarket. The bun was super thin and the pattie was thick. I didn't like that. I like my bun and pattie to be about the same size. The fries are pretty much like any other fries I've tried. Nothing special. The cajun fries just had paprika sprinkled on top. Nothing special either. Large portions though. There always like a bunch in the bottom of the bag. Pros for having free peanuts (which would've been better if they offered beer like BurgerMeister), all toppings free, and big portions. The Little Hamburger is far from little once you add all your toppings, and the regular burgers come with 2 patties. A large order of cajun fries are enough for a group of 3-4 to share and are pretty bomb. But the burger itself, even heaped with all the grilled onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and A1 sauce that I could want, was just not worth the price. None of the toppings were anything special and for the price I'd rather get a specialty burger at another restaurant, or just go across the street for a cheap, yummy In n Out burger. Tried Five Guys again because I thought my In-N-Out bias clouded my first impression or that eating there in the first few weeks of its opening, I had hit an inconsistent rough patch. All my students insisted Five Guys was the best thing ever. I should have considered that they also made this remark about the Twilight series. My first visit, I had a hamburger "all the way" and thought it to be fine, but nothing more. The mushrooms tasted canned and the patties, although there are two, were unremarkable. Fries were fine. Tried this the other day and it didn't knock my socks off (probably because it was hyped up so much), but it was pretty good. My friend told me multiple times to come here but I didn't believe the hype. I bought fries there for someone before but I never bought anything for me. I finally went two weeks ago. I never knew how much I enjoyed a burger until I went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. WOW WOW WOW. They have a list of toppings you can choose from which I think is fabulous because normally when you go to a burger place there are always at least one thing you don't want on your burger. I got the Little Bacon Burger and it was NOT little. The little bacon burger is the same as the bacon burger except that there is an extra patty on the regular sized one. The beef here is SO DELICIOUS! It was tender and juicy and personally, I think the quality is a lot better than in-n-out. (Sorry in-n-out, still a big fan though!) On my little bacon burger, I added grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, green peppers, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, and regular onions. It came out amazing! I think some people may think it's soggy but I think it's because it's grilled and wrapped in foil. Plus, if you add grilled mushrooms or onions, the oil from that will get on your bun for sure. Last but certainly not least, the FRIES. Two kinds: regular, and CAJUN. I LOVE CAJUN FRIES. SO YUMMY. I literally died. Honestly, for $5, I got a burger that was made the way I wanted. for the record, INNOUT is waaaaaay better than 5people . We only go here for the convenience. After a day of shopping at toys r us, nordstrom rack, old navy. Placing the kids in the car, strapping them on their car seats, repacking the stroller, drive to innout, unstrapping the kids, unpack the stroller, its an inconvenience. With 5 guys, its right there, a simple stroll First if your children are allergic to peanuts, AVOID this place like the plague. I dont like their wrapping method, they wrap it in aluminum foil, which makes the burger soggy. They spend all that time toasting the bun to make it crunchy. Perfectly creating a golden crust on the burger and all that work goes to waste. Wrapping the burger in aluminum foil creates moisture, thus, a VERY SOGGY BURGER. What i do, is I request them to place the burger on an aluminum tray that is used for the hotdog. I ask for it uncovered, however, they always have to place an aluminum cover over the tray. We tried the regular and spicy fries - not spicy, hardly a notable flavor. I had the chili dog, that was suppose to be a kosher dog - don't really know if it was or wasn't, but it was bland as well. First of all, this place beats In-N-Out!!! I love how people get to eat free peanuts as an appetizer before meals. The ketchup pumps are huge and the sauce-cups are a lot bigger and better than most burger joints. I love how I got to choose as much toppings as I wanted on my burger. Nice touch on the free toppings but you're paying almost $5 for a Little Hamburger (a little more for a little cheeseburger or little bacon cheeseburger - and even more for a two patty Hamburger etc.). Heck for a little more than $5, you've got a complete meal at other places. Note: If you like In-N-Out's Grilled Onions, FGB's version is diced onions slightly sauteed. Much better at INO. All the toppings are free so just let them know what you want on your burger. Cajan fries are good, portions of fries are ginormous. regular can feed 2-3 people and large can feed about 3- 4 people. very,very generous portions. They also have hot dogs! My kids love hot dogs. Cons: The mushrooms and onions were on top of the bottom bun so if you don't eat the burger fast enough the bottom starts to get soggy. Regular fries aren't as good as In-and-Out's. First timers don't realize that the regular burger has two patties. But naming the regular burger "little" causes most people to overlook that on the menu and end up ordering a double patty burger. OMG, I'm super excited! This five guys is pretty freaking big compared to the one i've been on the east coast. The employees were super nice even though it was crazy busy for them. This was my first time eating here last night , and boy did it live up to the hype! Although pricey, the burgers are more flavorful than in n out,and you get to add on as much toppings as you want. The cheeseburger I got with jalapeno peppers, hot sauce, and all the black topppings (minus mayo and mustard) did the trick. SO FREAKEN GOOD. With two patties (the Little Cheeseburger only has one), a slice or two of cheese, and all of those glorious toppings (mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, jalapeño peppers, green peppers, A1 Steak Sauce, BBQ sauce, & hot sauce--YOU MUST ASK FOR THEM ALL), you're practically swimming in seduction. ***FRIES (Five Guys Style) It's impolite to eat a burger without fries in these parts, so pick your poison--Five Guys Style (aka normal) or Cajun Style. There are many types of fries that I don't care for, but either of these styles at Five Guys is quite good. These things are big, potato-y chunks, & perfectly soft. You can dip them in ketchup or stick it to the man by using malt vinegar. ALL IN ALL: Even if you carefully wrap the cheeseburger in its foily coffin, if the stars are aligned, you should soon have oil & sauce all over your hands. Eventually an juicy pepper or mushroom will fall out, grazing your shirt a few times on its way down to your pants. It's just a matter of time. All things in life should be this simple & beautiful... I kept hearing people talk so much about Five Guys and what's the big deal. The food was not great at all. I'll give them the fires they where good but the burger was not. I could of popped open the grill at home and made a better burger. NO THANKS FIVE GUYS I WON'T BE BACK. read more

So why is it in just about every review, you guys compare this place to In & Out Burger? Do you compare Premier Pizza to Costco's pizza or PF Changs to Panda Express, Panera Bread to Prolific Oven, Kinders to Dickeys? You get my point....business work differently & will serve food that tastes different & prepared with their own style. Just because this place happened to open up by an In & Out Burger doesn't necessarily means that they are in competition. This place has more of a 50's feel, burgers & hot dogs cooked when you order it on a big griddle. Interesting that they offer free peanuts. Huge, greasy home-style burgers with all the free toppings you want. The building is where a Starbucks once was. It was nice to see that something new and different popped up here in Fremont. If you want your fries a bit on the crispy side, just ask them and I'm sure they would accommodate. read more

I might get a bunch of haters for posting this review, but I don't see what the hype is about. Five guys is a lot more expensive than in-n-out. Sure you can put a lot more toppings in your burger, but the taste of it all just wasn't worth the extra dollars for me. The fries are better than in-n-out's fries though, I'll give them that. And free peanuts are cool too, but I'd still choose in-n-out over five guys anyday! read more

Overall: doesn't live up to the hype - but it works. Food: Peanuts are free for anyone to grab and eat. Choice of a little burger (one patty) or a regular burger (two patties). You can choose any or all of the toppings you want (mayo, ketchup, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, etc). I got the little bacon cheeseburger - it wasnt bad, wasnt good - it was okay. bacon was nice and crispy - but my bottom bun got really soggy. I wanted to take a picture of it but it wasn't very photogenic. I recommend the cajun fries - they give you ALOT and its good. Burger, fries and a drink came out to around $10 - a little pricey - for cheaper i would go down the block to in-n-out. Decor: The checkered red and white look surrounds the restaurant. Bags of peanuts piled by the front counter to resemble sort of a divider for the line. Service: girl at the counter spoke very loudly - and i was right in front of her - guess she was use to yelling in there. Lunch time it gets crowded and the wait for a table gets pretty long. read more

I ate at 5 guys burgers and fries First i thought it was a 2 girls 1 cup kind of thing But anyways this place has good burgers What i got on my burger was everything but mustard. they had grilled mushrooms in it and everything. It tasted mighty pleasant. and a gang of fries It's better than in n out, but also more expensive than in n out If u take the fries home, yo house gonna smell like hot peanut butter. read more
