I went to the Cutten Rd location last week and paid an extra dollar for a bacon burger with toppings. I waited for a good twenty minutes, and the burger I got back was the most disappointing burger in all of Houston. There was NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING on this burger. Two dried buns and one old hamburger patty. No bacon. No A1. No mushrooms. None of the other toppings. I live a good 25 minutes from this location or I would have gone back and thrown it at the girl checking me out. I'm still livid about it. How can you not put a single topping or bacon? I personally feel that it was done on purpose because I simply do not understand that at all. I will never be returning to that location. read more

This is Mason, Anthony's charming, stylish gourmet Dachshund writing a review of 5 Guys for Anthony, because he's off doing strange human stuff like taking down silly lights in the front of the house. All that time and effort he could put into smoking some turkey for me. Well, I do have to feel sorry for him since he lacks my licking skills. But I digress. Anthony went to 5 Guys Burgers with a friend and brought back some leftovers which he shared with me. There's nothing like a nice, wam, greasy burger piece accompanied by a french fry. I graced both with .5 nanoseconds of savoring consumption. It was a nice, juicy flavorful piece and Anthony said the burger was top-tier, Anthony also said that he liked the simple approach, not a lot of fancy fussy choices. I could taste the bacon in the burger piece, so he followed my standing instructions ALWAYS order bacon when bacon is offered. It doesn't matter if it's a burger, salad, ice cream, diet Fresca or pecan pie - if bacon is available, get bacon. But I digress again. The french fry seemed a tad soft, Anthony is like me in liking a crisp french fry, so that was a downside. He also mentioned that he wouldn't go there for the service or staff friendliness, he mentioned that the order drone seemed to act like taking an order was an inconvenience instead of actually her job! The place was rather plain, with laminate tables and somewhat crowded. While everything was very tasty, over $10 for a burger, fries and soda seemed steep in a no-atmosphere place. If you go with another person, split the fry order, it's quite alot. Why he couldn't bring more home for me, I don't understand, I work myself to near starvation protecting his home and providing a calming influence with 16 hours of daily napping. I've been to this location before, and it was some what better, but today, not so much. I went with my parents who wanted to try it out since they heard so much about it. The place was not busy, but not dead either. There was descent number of people in the restaurant. We went ahead and ordered a little hamburger and two little cheeseburger, and an order of regular fries and little fries, and two drinks. My parents being past restaurant owners themselves, had a good level of expectation when it came to fast food burgers, and when we received our food, they were not impressed. And neither was I, considering that I've had good experiences at Five Guys before. But tonight, here is what wasn't good: all three of our burgers came out with cold buns, which is ironic since you can clearly see a flat grill in the back here they are heating up the buns. But yes, they were all cold. Could it have been from the veggies all layered on top? I doubt it since there wasn't that many veggies to begin with. And then secondly, our fries were very "old", meaning they were not fresh from the fryer. And again, my parents being connoisseurs that they are, they could tell that the oil used to fry the fries was old. So in the end, it was soft, mushy fries, fried in old oil. And finally the service was not all that amazing. Of course you can't expect much from a fast food joint, but the cashier that took our order wasn't at all welcoming. And I guess they've changed up the menu now to where a regular cheeseburger is a double meat? And if you want the single meat, then you get the little burger? I did not know that. Maybe it's always been that way. But even if so, he could have explained it to me, instead of correcting me every time. But like I said, I've had better and I know Five Guys can be good. The only good thing I'll say about tonight was the out burger meat was good (which is one of the things they are known for). It was hot, juicy, and full of good meat and seasoning. A co worker told me about this place and I decided to give it a shot once. I got back work I opened my bag to a ton of fries covering our burgers so I had to rip open the bag up to get my burger. The fries are awesome but beware they give u way too much of them and I can't never finish them ok back to the burger I took a bite the burger is juicy and the patties are thick I love how the cheese is oozing all over the patties. I have ate here recently again and it tasted the same wich this is what I like if you are curious about this place just go and eat there it's worth it. read more

I have been wanting to try Five Guys for quite some time and today I finally did it. I wasn't sure what to expect, but honestly I wasn't really all that impressed. The burgers were pretty good, which is why I'm giving them two stars rather than one. The fries were okay, but slightly over cooked. The service really sucked though...the girl at the counter had zero personality and could clearly tell that I was a newbie so she should have informed me that their regular hamburger had double meat but she didn't so I ordered a huge burger...if I would have known that I would have ordered a "little burger" and saved a couple bucks. The entire staff was goofing off the whole time I was there, which was completely unprofessional. This biggest issues I have with this place are the prices....they are absolutely rediculous. I may have gone back just for the burgers, but not with those out of control prices. Even more rediculous is the fact that they don't have any "combos"...you have to order everything ala cart. There are not kids meals either, so don't bother taking young kids there. I ordered a regualr burger with a large fries for me and my daughter to share and a small soda and it was over $14.00...the burgers are pretty good, but they don't warrant that price...I could have gone to Friday's for that. Once In-n-Out starts rolling into town (which will hopefully be soon), Five Guys should seriuosly reconsider their pricing strategy. IMO an In-N-Out burger is WAY better and their prices are much more reasonable. read more

What a great burger & fries!! The burgers are dripping juice, the cheese is melted & its a big mess! You definitely need to wash your hands after eating this burger. The fries are fresh cut & the order is gigantic. I've never eaten here when all the food wasn't piping hot! The decor is definitely bare bones & the chairs are hard. Interesting to note that many of the two star reviews complain about how crowded the place is. They have every inch of space filled with tables & chairs and yet the place is still packed to the gills. Gee, sounds like the overwhelming public opinion is the food is good. You get in, eat and get out. I wouldn't want a steady diet of Five Guys but when I want a great burger & fries this is where I go!! Don't come here to kill an hour talking with your friends. Tried Five Guys for the first time with a friend and it was pretty good for a chain. I do agree with Josh and his review that eating in does have it's downside, but over all my burger and fries were very tasty and I like the way you selected your toppings. Good food but the people behind the counter are incompetent. I asked one simple instruction to dice my onions to a smaller size and they were extremely confused. A simple task threw them for such a loop that it took the whole staff to figure it out! To tell you the truth, they don't even have knives in the kitchen! Finally made it to a Five Guys. In general, a good experience. Bacon cheeseburger all the way was yummy and messy. The added jalapeños were fine, but would have been better grilled. Buns could use a little more substance and toasting, IMHO. Fries were generous in portion size and outstanding. If you like a messy burger, this is a place for you. If you're looking for atmosphere, or even comfortable chairs -- keep walking. I'd write more, but I need to go wash my hands... :) read more

Josh J's review sums up my thoughts on the establishment nearly perfectly. At lunch time, the place is a mad house, and simply frustrating. The burger, fries, and drink price range is outrageous for what you get. It's an OK burger, but nowhere near what I would expect for the price. The fries are good, and they give you way too many, but overall there have to be better burgers at a better price. The search continues. I am a huge fan of this chain. Why? Burgers are fantastic. Fries are better than fantastic. Choice of fountain drinks is HUGE. Burgers: single or double. Plan to spend about $7 for your sammie. Add whatever toppings you like...the usual like cheese, puckles, mayo, onions/grilled onions, jalapeño and then some a little different like A-1 sauce or mushrooms. Juicy, seasoned patty and fresh toppings. Yum! Fries: I get the regular ol fries. Medium size is perfect. Large us great to share. They put up a sign to let you know what farm today's taters are from...nice touch. Fries are rarely limp or overcooked. They are crispy and yet not burned. Seriously some of the best fries you can get in town. They have a seasoned fry but the regular ol ones rock. Soda: They have a million billion choices. Ok. Not THAT many but it seems like it. Almost every kind of Pibb, Fanta, Sprite, Mello Yellow ... almost every flavor if cherry/vanilla/diet soda you can imagine. Fill and refill at the fountaon. Service is always friendly. Came here with hubby a few weeks ago. I've dined at Five guys in different states, and I was a little shocked this location the amount of fries is a lot less than what I've had in Las Vegas. Normally a large is way too many but we were craving fries and we barely had enough. The burgers were about the same. Super expensive we had 2 burgers, 2 drinks and a large fry almost $40. I understand why these guys are not doing much business and why I received a huge discount off my order via advertisement. First I tried to call and was hung up on twice. I decided to go to the location anyway since I was close by. It was on the other side of the street from where Yelp told me. When I walked in and ordered, there were several kids working along with what seemed like an older lady. They had a huge baking sheet of fries sitting under the pick up order area. I was afraid that they would scoop up old fries from that baking sheet to put into my order but they didn't. I did not see them serving the old fries but I was not watching the other orders. I told them that I tried to call them to place my order. They told me that their phone was broken but didn't seem to care. There was no apology or interest. The food was awful. The fries were hot but not very tasty. The meat was small and not tasty or memorable either. Will not go back even if I get another 40% off. read more

Dumb as a box of nails. The cashier rings me up for a burger we change it to a little burger. I finish my order and ask her why is it so much, it doesnt seem right for 2 burgers 1 reg fry and 2 drinks 34 dollars. So she says "it's really expensive here and everything is separate ".
