We were in Marlborough for an errand and pretty hungry (and maybe a little hungover), saw this 5 guys, and decided that a cheeseburger was exactly what was needed. I ordered a small cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickles and onions. We shared a small order of fries, everything was great and we couldn't finish the fries. Although it is super greasy and soggy the meat is fresh. But the flavor of the food is just about the only good part of it. Just to order the food is about a 20 minute wait. And by the time they bag the food and get it to you, it turns to complete soggy, greasy mush and lukewarm. Five Guys Burgers and Fries.... I have been waiting and waiting for this. I watched them hang the paper sign in the window, and then the lighted sign on the store front. I watched as griddles got installed and tables and chairs were delivered... I listened to the hype and, in part, the hype is true, but only in part. We had a large(ish) order (4 or 5 things) so we had it clearly printed what goes with what and just handed them the list. They got it wrong. Raw onions came sauteed. Bacon went on the wrong burger. And our vegetarian (and us) assumed "veggie" meant veggie burger, when, in fact, it means bun with burger ingredients on no meat (so she got a bun with tomatoes, wrong onions, and relish - which was supposed to be on the side but wasn't). I am tempted to give them credit by saying that they're busy and they just opened and they'll sort it out, but we ordered more things from the Chipotle that just opened a few doors down on their opening day and Chiptole made no errors. So I say, busy or not is no excuse. And they should be clear on their menu that "veggie" does not mean veggie burger. That said, I had a cheeseburger with mushrooms and some cajun fries and I've got to say... it was all DAMN GOOD. I have had mixed experiences here but lately they have all been good. Order a cheeseburger - and you get two burgers smothered in yummy cheese. Add whatever toppings you desire... if you want all that they offer they will put it all on there for you! My go to is lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo and ketchup - its a mouthful but they get it right every time! If you think the regular cheeseburger is too big they do offer a one burger but they don't really explain it. They do have hot-dogs too... which are surprisingly good. The rolls are always fresh too. Now the fries... there is no need to ever order a large fry unless you are feeding more than 4 people! They fill a regular size cup of fries and then scoop tons of extra fries in your bag... you always know its good when the grease starts coming thru the brown bag. They always have a huge line during meal times waiting for food. I definitely suggest you call ahead and order (this location does not offer on-line ordering). If you've read my previous reviews, you know I've loved my previous visits to other five guys locations in two states now and yesterdays was no different. This was the first time I sat down to eat in. There was plenty of seating and the dining area was remarkably clean in spite of being open for a few hours. My only suggestion to management, please add a children's menu. Buying anything for my three year old is a waste as I end up throwing most of it in the garbage. read more

Stopped by here late tonight after I got done painting expecting a quick in and out order before heading home...it was anything but quick. It's five guys, so food wise, you should know what to expect and they didn't make it any different. The reason for the 3 stars however is because of how long it took for our burgers to come out and the fact that the fries were not really hot, which was dissapointing. When we got in there, there were 4 people already eating, we placed our order and then proceeded to wait about 20 minutes. Two other orders came in that seemed like they were pick ups but even one of those orders had to wait. I went to this location tonight and had a crappy burger (see picture). It was small, dry and overcooked. It used to be that when you went to a Five Guys the burger was cooked to order; it didnt go on the grill till it was ordered, but lately I notice that the burgers are all sitting on the grill sizzling away when you walk into the place, which I guess speeds things up but makes for an overcooked, dry burger. If I wanted a crappy burger I could have gone to the McDonald's in the same shopping plaza parking lot or to the Wendy's across the street. Completely disappointed and had I not already left and been late for a meeting I would have gone back in and complained. Look at the picture. First I want to say that I have eaten at this location several times and have never had a bad experience until now. I have no complaints about their burgers which have always been really good every time I have eaten there. On this occasion I heard my order number called out and I went to the counter where a young lady asked me if I needed ketchup which I declined and I repeated my order number to her to confirm that my number was called. She said yes and I grabbed the only bag that was in front of her and walked out the door. When I got home I realized that I was short one burger so I called up the store and the person who answered said I grabbed the wrong bag. I replied that I was given the order by one of her co-workers and that I repeated the order number to her. She said I would need to talk to the manager and as she put the phone down I heard her say "he thinks it is our fault". Hey Five Guys! It was your fault! Enjoying it from time to time on a half day at work, romantics night out, or when I feel like a greasy treat that my stomach may hate me for. But the food is good!! This location is solid, the staff I find is generally really good as that is a big focus of five guys, but I feel like it is a little slow here. For example we came in the other day and where basically the only people there, my wife wanted Japanese and I wanted mexican so naturally we ended up getting burgers right? 2 plus 2 clearly equals mustard in our house. We did wait like 15 minutes when no one was there and that is my one complaint. Actually scratch that, can I get some fucking mustard 5 guys?? This is not location specific. They all do it I either have to open up 56 packets like a crack addicted for my fries or ask for a little container that they fill 25% is mustard really such a commodity?? That spurred the term, Mustardgate. Get what you like and don't be shy to go for 10 toppings. I do it all of the time. 3. Peanuts. I'm not a big burger guy, however I'm a rabid boardwalk fries type of guy. I had heard a lot about this chain. While the place lacks in atmosphere and is pretty bare bones, they seem awesome at churning out good burgers and awesome fries. Any place which has bottles of malt vinegar out for the patrons is good in my book... Burgers well done but very juicy, not gourmet but very good, and when you get a bag to go there is like this little paper cup for the fries but they overflow all over the bag, and there's nothing I like more than finding MORE yummy fries at the bottom of my carry out bag. You know what? I've vastly over-estimated my opinion of Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I was at this location again recently, and their burgers are just blah. I want you to actually TASTE the meat here. I mean the actual BURGER itself - not while piled with all kinds of sauces and toppings. It's blah. It's the most blah meat I've ever tasted. I've heard great reviews from other people about Five Guys. There are none in my area, but I happened to be visiting a client in Marlborough this week and decided to stop in to see what the hype was about. The place was fairly packed at lunch time, so I figured I was in for a treat. I ordered a 'Little' Bacon Cheeseburger with jalapenos, onions, lettuce, tomato and ketchup. I also purchased a small order of cajun fries. The burger tasted very similar to a Wendy's burger, but it was slightly higher in quality. The cajun fries were fairly underwhelming for a place that only serves burgers, hot dogs and fries. I definitely think Five Guys is a little overhyped. Part of this is because it's a newer fast food restaurant. Either way, if you're in the area, give it a try. read more

The order was placed on the five guys website and they contract with door dash for delivery. Called door dash and they said what I expected "the order was placed through five guys" and to call them. Compared to the other Five Guys locations I've been to, this one is pretty mediocre. Don't get me wrong, the efficiency in ordering was there, but the resulting burger was not what I expected. I loaded up a cheeseburger with everything but jalapenos and onions, and what I ended up with was a soggy mess of half-cooked burger that kept falling out of the bun. What's worse is that the bun itself came to me smooshed, so you'd think that that would have held the burger together. Nope. And my mushrooms were cold. Lousy rude people who can't handle money. Their burgers really aren't that good. Fries are and limp. Most recent experience completely turned me off when the cashier short changed me and gave me attitude when I tried to show her that a "quarter" she'd given me was actually a nickel. She just rolled her eyes, turned around and walked away. When I tried to talk to the manager, the other person behind the counter just chuckled and shrugged.
