First time and I was not impressed burger had no taste fires to salted Milkshakes ok will I go back I think not.

It's a Five Guys. You know the product. You know what to expect. Sort of. What made Five Guys so distinctive when the chain first took off was the quality. You may spend a little more but, for your dollars, you got better beef, bigger patties, better buns, 'fancy' fries, and the like. If you chose Five Guys, you made a choice to swap $$ for quality. That choice is no longer the case. As time has gone on and prices have increased everywhere across the board, the patty size has decreased, the 'specialness' of the buns have gone away and the fries aren't so fancy; they're a bit common. So, then, why spend the extra money for something as every day as a burger and fries... especially when you can buy the same thing locally? I don't have an answer. Well, I don't have a good one. This outpost benefits from location. Being so close to Vanderbilt and hotels makes it an easy answer for the out-of-towner or college kid who wants something quick and familiar. Their wallet may not agree but when has money ever gotten in the way of (American) convenience? Parking is easy and the employees are not rude. It's a bit of a harder call for locals to make. With local chains, mom & pops and food trucks at the plenty serving similar quality burger & fries for cheaper, it doesn't make a lot of sense to go with the corporate buy. I know the heart (and stomach) wants what it wants but this economy is no joke. Choose wisely. read more

I don't usually eat burgers, but that doesn't stop me from visiting Five Guys! Their fries are, without a doubt, the best I've ever had--perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy center. The Cajun seasoning adds just the right amount of spice, making each bite flavorful and addictive. I appreciate how they nail every detail: the fries are the ideal thickness, length, and have just the right amount of seasoning without overpowering the potato flavor. They're always fresh, hot, and served in generous portions that keep me coming back. Two thick juicy patties. Half smashed. Pickles are amazing. Perfect American cheese to top it off. Burger itself is a 8.5/10. Insane amount of fries as well. Share every single time you go. First, I hadn't been 5G for long time, and it was the only food place open pass 9PM. Service was slow and definitely overprice because the burger w/o cheese or bacon already $10. The interior decor is same as all other 5G. The funny facts that even the cashier told me, they are not cheap. I guess that I wasn't the first one that feel hesitation to order. I am a big fun of five guys burgers in general. I have been going to this particular store on West End but the quality here has been deteriorating. Their fries are usually OK but the portion sizes are very inconsistent. For example, I had regular size fries today but what i got was what i usually would get when I ask for small fries. The burgers were also not as good as they used to be. I think all of these problems are due to employee turnover as there are new employees all the time. I am still on the quest for a good burger in Nashville--this place has the potential for being good but they don't listen. 1st time I went, I ordered a cheeseburger my first time (w/o my husband) and the cheese was not melted--it's a burger with cheese and the cheese should be melted--all part of the cheese burger experience. 2nd time I went back with my husband and this time I asked if they would melt my cheese. (UNREAL) I get my burger with a cold slice of american cheese. I don't get it. At this point I should have sent it back--I sat there and took one for the team--at the hamburger with a cold slice of cheese. Is this how all 5 Guys are? Really am I the first to complain about the cheese? Well until I get confirmation that the cheese will be melted on my burger the next time I certainly won't be going back and won't recommend to anyone else. Yes! This is the best fast food style burger in town! The bacon cheese burger is enormous and super juicy or greasy, whichever you prefer to call it. What makes this place unique is that you can get whatever you want on your burger at no extra charge. Mushrooms, green peppers, jalapeños, and A-1 steak sauce are just a few of extras that I put on my burger to make it extra delicious. I am not such of a fan of the fries. They are the kind that have some potato skin on, and they are just not for me. Granted, they are not bad, just too "natural" and way too salty! Inside, the place is super clean and the bathrooms are, too. They have plenty of seating. It is pretty funny, but they have these boxes of shelled peanuts everywhere for snacking. What more can you ask from five guys? They offer a selection of burgers and dogs, with an array of toppings for them. They are a little pricey but the burgers are top notch. They also offer fries two ways plain and Cajun. I usually get the Cajun but this visit they were way over seasoned, I can still taste them after drinking a whole soda pop. They now carry shakes with classic flavours plus a bacon one, although the price deterred me from getting one....$4.99. This establishment was clean even though they were busy. The staff was friendly and attentive. Love that this location has the freestyle Coca-Cola machine, more restaurants need this. The rating would have been a 5 if the fries had not been over seasoned, my mouth is still dry from that. Overall a good stop for a greasy burger. read more

Don't normally give a five star, but these five guys are consistently consistent. Great burgers, one of those make your own flavor coke machines, take Apple Pay, always clean and always cleaning. Lotsa light, fast service, even during the rush hour lunch hour. Really can't brag about these guys enough. If you need a quick burger fix with no stress this is the place to go. They've got lotsa fresh peanuts in the shell but you can't throw the shells on the floor. No beer but what the heck. Can't beat them. I think it's even real beef patties. Eat there. I would put zero but the milkshakes are always bomb. So first of all we ordered a bacon dog and added lettuce tomato and cheese then ordered a little grilled cheese sandwich and what they gave us was a cheese burger with lettuce bacon and tomato and my bacon dog only had bacon on it.. I'm a little confused because when I first said my order the lady even questioned me saying "so the bacon dog right" I'm thinking in my head like duh that's what I said just add the lettuce tomato etc. so then she asks alright what do you want on the bacon dog ‍ anyways I repeated myself. So why tf did I still get my food all messed up? The food also has no flavor and just garbage and greasy. Sorry but it's true. I always try to give this place another chance but now I'm just utterly disappointed and it all cost 45 bucks! We had to wait a long time for our order to come out and we weren't even greeted when we came in. The music was too loud to hear the employees. We got several items wrong. We just wanted some good burgers and fries. The COVID precautions made it another level of difficulty for the employees won't give up the correct napkins and silverware. The food was subpar after waiting for 15 minutes with no other customers in the restaurant. We asked for extra bags and were given peanuts. We asked for ketchup and they just gave us more fries. I am going to go against the grain a bit here, but Five Guys is not that great. I think that the reason that Five Guys is so popular has more to do with lowered expectations than actual quality. Let me explain. I think over the past few decades we have been exposed to enough terrible hamburgers and fries from fast food establishments and lousy restaurants that our expectations of a good burger have been lowered so far that a passable hamburger seems amazing in comparison. That is exactly what Five Guys has, a passable burger. The fries are good and of course they are fresh, but aren't fries supposed to be fresh. I suppose this is why the "craft" burger has taken off all over the city and across the country. When people forget that a product is supposed to be good you can get away with charging a premium for anything that is above average. That get's me to my other point. After all is said and done, with fries and a drink, Five Guys is a $10 meal. There are dozens of places in Nashville that have excellent burgers for around $10. Hell I rarely walk out of Gabby's for more than $8 and that is a far superior product in every way. Most of the sports bar's and pubs in the area have Burgers for less than $10 so I don't really get it. Overall, I think that Five Guys is okay, but they are not particularly special or particulary a good value. Long live the era of low expectations. read more

And you know those nights you were out partying and you forgot to eat dinner? This place is open til 10, EVERY day! oh, oh, oh, and you can order online. So you just got out of the movies, it's 9pm, you're hungry, you don't want to spend a lot of money, you just want to eat something salty, crunchy, and you want to go home and dive into bed... Can I dare to go against the flow and say that I don't like Five Guys at all? I am honestly agog at all the fuss about this place. It seems to show up in posh locations touting good burgers and swanky clean-looking black and white minimalist decor, but besides the window dressing, I don't see much else going on. The burgers are thin, overcooked, and completely tasteless (unless you really like salt, but more on this in a minute). There's other stuff to fill up the space voided by the super thin burger and the wide in circumference, but inadequate to house even a skinny burger, bun, like lettuce and mushrooms and onions and the like, but it doesn't make up for the lack of actual burger in a place that supposedly specializes in burgers. Thin, tasteless, and over-salted. That's all I got from it. It's a glorified Sonic burger - actually, I think Sonic's is better. I'll move on to the fries. They are hand-cut. I'll give them that, but the two times I have been dragged to this place by people I felt I couldn't be completely honest with about my preference for places that serve good burgers, I have felt like the fries could have been so much more with so much less.....salt. The first time I went, the fries were totally inedible. They had so much salt they made me cough, and the second time, they were better, but not by much. I see some chains, and I can see why they spread, but I am baffled by the Emperor's New Clothes effect of Five Guys. read more

No complaints with the food, but Nashville should know that this pales in comparison to other versions of the same restaurant. ;-) In my hometown, we have the option for a little burger (one patty) instead of the regular burger (with two). We also get to order milkshakes. I don't know if the two patty/no shakes menu arrangement is unique to this Five Guys since it's near the school, but I got more burger than I wanted and no milkshake at all. Yet another franchise I've only ever tried for the first time while in Nashville. Yet another burger. a.) I love how for a "regular" order of fries, there were at least 2 large Russet-style potatoes' worth of it. I could barely eat an eighth of it. You could see the skins on these. b.) On the other hand, the Cajun-style seasoning didn't knock my socks off. c.) Clean and plenty of seats. d.) Friendly cashier who patiently explained the items since it was my first time there. e.) You can tell the burgers were hand-made -- the burgers weren't entirely round. They looked like I formed them, myself. f.) A tad on the expensive side. $10+ for fries, a small cheeseburger, and a drink?!? The ingredients were fresh but the jury is still out if the price was worth it. g.) For a place which advertises itself as a staunch supporter of not advertising itself, it advertises itself rather blatantly, with all of the glowing restaurant reviews decorating the walls. i.) Options are limited. Burgers. Hot dogs. Fries. But lots of choices in terms of condiments for your burger. j.) Free peanuts. But if you have a severe peanut allergy, I wouldn't recommend stepping in here. k.) Interesting how they store their boxes of peanuts and peanut oil and potatoes in plain view in the dining area. Can I rate this a very enthusiastic, "A-OK!" with a big smile? You know, I don't really know why 5 Guys posts all the reviews they've ever received in every newspaper or magazine on their walls. The reviews are great and all (I mean, who am I to say I don't like reviews!), but the food can speak for itself. Let's just put it out there that 5 Guys is a go-to greasy burger joint, which is great when you're craving it. And yes, I was craving it. Oh, it's so simple--a streamlined menu of little burgers, regular burgers, and "other stuff" along with your choice of toppings make the decision process a breeze. There are peanuts to gorge yourself with as you wait for your food that is cooked literally behind the cashier. Personally, I've always gone for the little burger/cheeseburger, but not because I don't have appetite--these burgers are BIG(ish). The regular ones aren't much bigger, but they do have another meat patty. In terms of burger joints, 5 Guys is great. I almost always inhale the food, so I'm pretty sure that I enjoy my experience every time...I like that I can still taste the potato part of the fries (both cajun and regular). When you order these thick-cut fries, they give it to you in a paper bag and they're so generous with their fries, you could feed two with the regular size fries and four with the larger size. Side note: They also have a cup in the bag of fries, which I imagine in reality they use to scoop up the fries, but I like believe it's their way of saying, "Hey a normal portion would fit in this dinky cup, but because I like you I just put it all in the bag." I like that I can have all the toppings I want on my burger, which for me is all of them. And, the food is quite fresh. The only problem is their bun, which really can't quite contain the explosion of goodness going on in between. Next time, I'll remember to eat it Chipotle-style and rip off the foil wrapping little by little instead of unwrapping the burger in all its glory. All in all, I'd say don't let the walls tell you how great the food is--you might be underwhelmed. But I still go back from time to time when I want a greasy burger, so maybe they're better than I think... read more

Ate here as it was 4 or 5 blocks from the hospital I was at with a family member. The cafeteria isn't open for dinner so I walked here to get a bite to eat. The burger is good, but spending $12.76 for a double bacon cheeseburger and a drink is outrageous. I didn't get fries - just a regular size bacon cheeseburger and a large Coke. I'll not visit Five Guys again. They're too expensive. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. Both pop machines were having issues, but they fixed them. Oh, Five Guys! I fell in love with you when I lived in D.C. I thought I was lost without you once I moved back home. But you have followed me and called to me, Oh Temptress (Tempters?). There's a reason why they are proud of their numerous awards, especially the Cheap Eats/Best Burger in Town awards. These suckers are so good they are bad for you! During this visit, I had the regular Bacon Burger with "Everything" on it. I forgot to ask them to grill the bacon hard, but it was still a delicious treat. If you order the fries, never go for the "large," because they give you more than enough with the small even if you are sharing it with two people. The fries here are not the crispiest because they use peanut oil, instead of vegetable oil, but they are still delicious. My one complaint on this trip is that the fry guy over seasoned the Cajun fries, so it was a tad bit salty. Overall, it was a wonderful gluttonous experience. read more

Burgers are good, with plenty of choices for toppings, and the prices are very good for the food. The fries are also really good and fresh, very substantial. A "regular" order is a good couple of potatoes worth of fries and fills a cup and almost half a bag. Even if the burgers are on the thin side, they still taste good. They also have pretty good hot dogs. And one thing I really like are the tons of peanuts they have. When I'm just hanging out with a few friends and waiting for food, the peanuts are perfect to snack on (and they're healthy!) and pass the time with. read more
