If you're in Pinole, you'll have multiple burger options with In & Out, Habit, and Five Guys all within a few minutes drive. I came for lunch with my buddy for our bi-monthly burger run. It was actually his first time at Five Guys; I've been to the IAD, Dublin, and Pleasant Hill ones. The standard hamburger comes fully loaded and has two(!) patties. I got mine with A-1 steak sauce. Its about 50% higher in calories and price compared to say, In & Out's Double Double without cheese. It was juicy, but very messy. The Little Hamburger might be better for portion control. The regular Five-Guys fries were crispy and tasty - not overly seasoned like the Cajun fries. Although we enjoyed the burger, there were a few minor issues with this particular location: * The restroom had a toilet and a urinal, but no privacy stall so its sort of wasteful. Maybe they ran out of budget? The In & Out at least can accommodate more than one person. * The restaurant was not full and though it had the same red and white decor of In & Out, it does not have the same fun vibe. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a five guys, first off all they have is regular sugar for their unsweetened tea (not good for a diabetic), so decided to get a ginger ale it was flat, and the bacon cheeseburger had No bacon on it (they did give me some bacon). I dunno... I remember the first time I tried 5 Guys. It was probably about 8 years ago at the Vacaville location. I remember really loving it. It was fresh and oh man, the free toppings!! Fast forward to present day. I haven't been in a while but my kiddo said she wanted to go for lunch. I asked if she was sure because I was reluctant. She insisted so we went. She ordered a little bacon burger with lettuce, ketchup and mustard. I got a bacon burger with grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce and A1 sauce. My burger didn't have any flavor. Like it didn't seem seasoned. I didn't get a lot of bells and whistles in the burger so I could really taste the meat. And it tasted bland. I didn't finish my burger and neither did the kiddo. Maybe it was an off day, but it didn't do anything for me. As I was looking around the restaurant at the awards they've received over the years, I couldn't help but notice that the last awards were received about 8 years ago. We've Doordashed these burgers three times now. The many burger add ons are fantastic and mostly free. The burgers are delicious and arrive toasty warm. Piles of yummy fries. I came today March 5, 2020 at around 12:30 pm (PT) to this location to get some five guys. I have not been to five guys before. This was my first time going to a five guys ( will be my last after today). I went into the fast food place and I asked the cashier if I could please see the size of the French fries so that I can make a decision. The cashier responded very rudely as if she had no interest in answering my question. I asked her twice if I could see the sizes because she did not show me the first time I asked. I think this is pretty reasonable considering it's my first time at this establishment AND I am paying with my money. I used to work in fast food service when I was in high school and I knew that as a customer service worker, you treat all guests well. You answer their questions and don't be rude to them if they ask simple questions as if how big the sizes of the fries were. I left the store after being treated so rudely by the cashier. As I said I was leaving to go get food somewhere else because the cashier did not answer my questions, the lady on the hamburger station in the back said very rudely and loudly "byeeeeeeeeeeeeee". I will be telling everyone else to not go to five guys or to this location because of the poor service I received. It's really sad how these workers don't seem to care about customer service especially in a time where unemployment is on the rise because of the covid-19 virus. It almost made me feel like she didn't care about the job and if she lost it. All you had to do was literally answer my question about the French fries so I can make my decision. We had very good luck with 5 guys. The one in Clayton/Concord is the best. We visited the one in Pinole and had the worst burger and service ever. We ordred 4 meals, 3 of which were wrong. Most of this was due to the person taking orders having to ask the people in the back what a lettuce wrap was. what was grilled onions ect. It took 15 minutes to get the order made, and another 45 minutes to get things returned and make roughly right. The fires were soggy and greasy. The burgers had to be opened up and have things like mayo and mustard put on them even on the re-order. I will never go this place again and ask that if your hungery go somewhere else. Five Guys has always been one of my favorite 'upscale fastfood burger joints' and I would not have moved to Pinole if not for this particular Five Guys (long story). It makes me sad that I can't rate it higher than three stars: Since moving here a year ago, I've visited this location about once a month. Depending on the visit and who is working, it can be a five star plus meal or it can be a frustrating 2 star burger. Sometimes I walk in and it's a really cool experience and other times I feel invisible trying to catch someone's eye. I order using the mobile app and while I appreciate that they don't start making fries until you get here (to keep them fresh and hot), it doesn't work if the burger sits on the counter while I try to flag someone down to let them know I have arrived. More than once my burger was cold by the time my fries were ready. It's also expensive. The local indy place does a combo for ~$10 while my order for fries/cheeseburger tops out at nearly $15, sans drink. I ate here last night and had the little bacon cheeseburger with mayo, lettuce, grilled onions, and mushrooms with a side of fries. About 3 hours after eating the burger, I started to have unbearable nausea, which progressed to relentless vomiting, stomach cramping, and diarrhea. I couldn't keep fluids down and was dizzy to the point of fainting even while sitting down. I ended up spending all night in the ER being medicated and re-hydrated via IV. I haven't been able to eat anything since. All of the symptoms I was experiencing-- and their timing-- matched up perfectly with Staphylococcal Aureus food poisoning. This kind of food poisoning results from mishandling of food (e.g. letting meat or dairy products sit out for too long at room temperature) and unsanitary habits by food handlers (e.g. someone sneezing on the food, handling the food when they didn't wash their hands after picking their nose, etc). Further, while heating the food to an appropriate temperature can kill the Staph bacteria, it does not kill the toxin produced, which is responsible for the food poisoning symptoms anyway. Five Guys was the only thing I ate in the past four days that had ingredients that pose a high food poisoning risk, and was the only time when I ate something different from my partner, who does not have any symptoms of food poisoning. I called the restaurant to let them know what had happened, and they seemed totally uninterested. The first person who answered the phone had only one thing to say, with a defensive tone: "Well then, how do you know it was from Five Guys?". She then passed the call on to a manager, who offered to refund me for the burger, but did not say that they would be looking further into their food handling practices or into whether other people who ate at Five Guys that night got sick. Their quality has seemed to steeply decline since they opened many years ago, and after this most recent incident I will never be eating at Five Guys again. I am also going to call the health department and inform them of what could become a food poisoning outbreak. read more

I don't get the hype. Simple menu of burgers, hot dogs, but no milk shakes. Overpriced considering In-N-Out is an exit away and easier to get in and out (heh) of - the parking lot here is horrid. Lots of staff who were just friendly enough, but seemed really unhappy for some reason. We thought our burgers were greasy, and they serve them in brown paper bags regardless of whether you dine in or take out. I had to create a dam out of the 50 napkins they gave us to catch the juices running out of the wrapped burger. The Cajun fries were not crispy, but had good flavor. Between the two of us, we had a little cheeseburger, regular cheeseburger, and little fries (no drink) for about $15. Again, I don't get the hype. The food is very tasty , I got little bacon burger which is basically a single patty burger, you can choose the toppings right off the bat which I found amusing. I got the Cajun fries, not too dry and not too soft but taste very industrial if you will, ranch definitely would've helped but this place sadly doesnt have any. The prices for the food are reasonable considering the quality of the food, drink prices are a bit too high but in this day and age with our economy I guess it justifies it.
