A bunch of clowns goofing around no wonder every single burger was built WRONG they mixed up everyone's order by putting the wrong tops on the wrong burger like it was a funny joke or something. We scraped everything off and ate the food we were not going to spend 30 more minutes by going back and have these clowns try and fix it. Called the manager when we were done and explained everything to him . He said bring your receipt back and I will refund you. Drove back to the five guys and was told I need the food to give you a refund. The food is the same as other locations - solid - but the volume of the music in the restaurant is intrusive to say the least. When you ask them to turn it down they are unwilling. Even if you are the only one in the restaurant. At dinner time. Trust me, nobody goes to 5 Guys - or ANY restaurant or coffee shop - for the music. Went here for the second time last weekend and had another great experience! If you were to compare Five Guys to another fast food establishment it would be In n Out for the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Everything is fresh and made to order. The kitchen is open to the rest of the restaurant so you can see them making everything, and the restaurant itself is always super clean as well. Five guys is a "build your own burger" concept where you choose one or two patties (or grilled cheese or veggies!) and add any and all toppings for FREE!!! Lettuce, Onion, Pickles, Relish, Condiments, Sauces etc. are all free to add to your burger! Yay! I love how they aren't already pre-made and I have to ask them to "remove this" or "instead of". They have hot dogs too, but I've never heard anything about them, or seen anyone order them. They also have fries (thick cut) in regular or Cajun seasoning. I like the Cajun because it adds more flavor to the basic fry, but on the other hand it does add a lot of salt. Also the sizes for their fries are HUGE. We ordered a "regular" for three people and couldn't even come close to finishing it! Get a regular if you have 4+ people or you will have a ton leftover. The texture and flavor of the fries is OK, definitely have had better. They aren't very crispy, mostly soggy. Boo. Prices are good, more expensive than In n Out or McDonalds, but I think the quality warrants the slightly higher prices. We spent $25 for three people. They do have free peanuts to snack on... We have come here twice on Friday nights and it is never busy or crowded which is nice. I like going here occasionally for a change, but In n Out remains at the top of my list! read more

The first time I went to a Five Guys, for some reason I was not impressed. But now I know it is because I ordered the wrong kind of burger! Pregnant and craving, my husband took me here and I ordered almost everything from the top line of condiments and bbq sauce. (The last time I only got a few things on my burger) And, boy, it made a difference! Still pregnant and been there a few more times and I always come away from there a happy round woman. So tried this Five Guys. This was my first time in -- I ordered the regular cheeseburger and little fries. Fries came out too brown with a slight burn flavor. Was told by the cashier "that's how their fries are." That may be true, but they're a little to brown for my taste. What happened next was ridiculous. The Hispanic female cook was so mad that I was returning the fries. She and the cashier were talking about me in Spanish then went to get the manager! Once the manager arrived I asked what is the problem? I don't like the well done fries. They taste almost burned. Why is your cook mad? This is a restaurant not her home kitchen. The manager was very nice, but the fries are just too well done for my taste so I got a refund. She said she would speak to her staff about the unprofessional behavior. It was mostly the cook though. I know some Spanish and I know she said some rude shit, but I wasn't for sure what she said or she would've got cussed out! How are you that mad about some fries?? I ordered my food over the phone and was told when I arrived that they had not started my food over concerns that I was allergic to sesame seeds, if she had done this over the phone I could've made a decision of spending my money at five guys I could've went to Jack-in-the-Box or in an out. I'm upset that it took 30 minutes for my food to be prepared and that once it was prepared I was not told until I asked about it. Update when I got home to eat my order was wrong I have enclosed photos and the receipt and tomorrow I will call management my food was cold and they made the order wrong and they cheated me out of the fries, this was not a positive experience. read more

Ordered online last night. 2 burgers and fries for pickup at 7:45. Got there at 7:45 and was told the food would be ready in a minute. While waiting 15 MINUTES, the room filled up with other folks waiting. I watched some guy come in, order, and walk out with his food. Where is my food?? Food was finally ready and I asked for ketchup. The girl calling out orders said she needed ketchup, and another girl disappeared in the back. She emerged what seemed like 5 minutes later and I watched her move at a glacial pace across the kitchen with the box of ketchup packets. Finally got out of there. The fries were more soggy then fresh - completely inedible. And I've never had a burger so completely flavorless. This was the one only time I'll eat at a Five Guys. read more

If you like grease, long waits, and a dirty atmosphere this place is for you. Friday night and this was the only place that wasn't packed which should have been a sign but since I was sick and hungry I figured I'd take my chances. Ordered three meals to go and ended up waiting about 35 minutes. In the middle of waiting, I took my 3 year old to the bathroom only to find a dirty bathroom with a clogged toilet. Once our food finally came, which the woman in the back threw at my husband more than handed it to him, it was covered in so much grease you couldn't even read the receipt attached to the bag. Ate the fries, which were actually pretty good, and the burger, which wasn't memorable, I was up for hours, sick from all the grease. No thank you. Yummy - just the right size. Nothing soggy here. I did not feel stuffed like I have been before with their huge "little" hamburgers. Oh yeah, even though a previous poster stated she felt "drugged", it could have been because she ate too much..... the food is that good...... Still a line out to the door when we arrived at 1p, but that's OK, That means the food is good and people want to try out the new hamburger joint. I first discovered Five Guys ironically in New York. I really liked the food and once we returned to the East Bay I looked for a local spot. We have tried this spot several times; usually they mess up one of the three orders we place but we have gotten accustomed to this and know to check the order. I was on my way home from SFO...called to see if I could place an order in advance. The young lady that answered the phone did not know the answer...I could hear her asking her two colleagues who did not know either. Given their track record I opted to just wait until I got there. While waiting in line to place an order the young lady started talking on her cell phone while the customer in front of me was trying to place an order. I placed my order and noticed there were two cooks; one that seemed to be a lead cook and the other appeared to be new. The "lead cook" received a call on his cell phone and left the newer cook by himself and went in back. I received my order and checked it. True to form...they had messed up the order. I brought the order back to the new cook and tried to explain to him that the order included bacon. His English skills were limited and after his female colleague tried as well he understood. He then opened the one hot dog and placed two slices of bacon on the hot dog and wrapped it back up. I have since called Five Guys customer service and emailed them as well....no response from local management. The Five Guys 800 customer service employee agreed that this was not the service they expect to deliver. I would say this...if you don't mind having to check your order each time and the employees having little or no regard for customer service this is your place. I am truly bummed because I really like their food; will check for another Five Guys in my area. 09/22/2017 Update: Must be a glutton for punishment....coming back from the airport the family really wanted Five Guys again. Placed an order for three dogs and one burger. The order took exactly 30 minutes to receive it. When we did receive it...true to form...one of the hot dogs was wrong...this time on the cheese dog they forgot the cheese. Good news is they had more staff....not sure how they missed the order since it was on my receipt and their printed receipt. No one was on their cell phone...another plus. The positives were that the food tasted good... negatives....for me I just know it will be a long wait and I anticipate returning one item each time. read more

Best burgers around! I love me a good burger, always have and probably always will. I love em so much that I order them whenever I can, even at restaurants known for other foods. About a year ago I saw the viral video of the songified 5 guys review on YouTube. It was hilarious! It also peeked my interest. Recently found out there was a 5 guys in Pinole which wasn't too far from my house. Came here, had the bacon cheeseburger w/bbq sauce and all I can say is WOW! It is my favorite burger place now! If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and try one of their burgers. read more

Don't waste your time go to In-N-Out. So I decided to go to Five Guys, I haven't been there in a couple of years since they opened. Back then they were good but now that's a different story. I made an order online and sure enough it was made completely wrong. I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger with mostly all the toppings. When I open the burger inside there was only the burger patty, mayonnaise and lettuce. Seriously where was the other toppings. They play around in there. Nobody ever picks up the phone. When they do they put you on hold and never come back to the phone. Five Guys could've been amazing...they came so close to being a go-to, premium burger. I stopped going to Five Guys because they only ever cook their burgers well done. I'm sure it's done that way for misguided liability reasons, but the truth is that pretty much ANY burger joint will cook your meat the way you want it - medium, medium rare, etc. Ask any chef - people who like their meat well done don't know anything about meat and are essentially destroying it. Came in on 9/27/17 in the evening... the only reason I make it a point to state the date is that the excellent service alone compelled me to leave this review. The gentleman at the register was courteous and friendly to a fault. Greeted us with a genuine smile, and said "yes ma'am" after each item I ordered (even though I can't be more than a few years older than him.) SO POLITE. Burgers are consistently good and the Cajun fries are amazing. But if I am being honest the service is what will keep me coming back. This guy took service with a smile to another level. read more

We returned here today and they messed up my order. I ordered a burger with bacon and it was missing the bacon. When I went back up to the counter, the lady just handed over some bacon on a napkin. I said that I want the bacon in the burger, not on the side and she got angry and gave me attitude. Not a customer service choice I would make at all. What if I was picking up the take out burger for someone else? Did Five Guys really expect me to use my hands and put the bacon in the other person's burger? Sheesh. The prices here are really quite high also. $12.50 for a single burger with bacon, a drink and order of fries is a bit too high, even if the burger is pretty good, which it was. Also, part of good customer service is educating your customers on your offerings. Instead of doing this, Five Guys acts evasive-when you order a burger and fries, they sell you a double burger and large fries. They should inform you of their sizes and ask you what you would like. UPDATE-I already spoke to someone named Ira from Five Guys corporate, prior to the owner comment below. He did nothing to remedy the issue other than apologizing and telling me Five Guys is not supposed to take a burger back to the kitchen area from a customer due to sanitary reasons. I have eaten at the Five Guys in Pleasant Hill a few times and liked it, so I was excited when this location opened near my house, but then puzzled when I started seeing the negative reviews on yelp. Well I finally got around to eating here last night and I can see why... Walk in and right then I should have figured there was a reason that there was no line and only a handful of customers at dinner time. First thing I noticed is prices had gone up, but I figure oh well food costs have gone up everywhere and I don't mind paying a lil more for a good meal. We ordered 2 bacon cheese burgers all the way, a large fry to share and 2 small drinks. Our order total was just under $28. Go to sit down and while there are plenty of open tables, not too many clean ones. Garbage cans overflowing, whole dining area was pretty messy in fact. Go to get my drink and have to navigate around the large pool of standing liquid on the floor in front of the drink machines. But hey, at least they had a caution sign. Servers behind the counter were friendly enough but I only saw 3 people working, maybe too understaffed to take care of the dining area. We sit down and eat some of the free peanuts while waiting for our food. Get our meals and rip open the brown paper bag. The burgers aren't huge but are a decent size. Still not really what you'd expect for an $8 burger, even if they do come with 2 patties on them. They do give you a nice amount of fries, but they were a bit soggy and limp for me. They weren't horrible I just prefer crisper fries. Ok here is the moment of truth. I can forgive everything else if you deliver on a great tasting burger. I bite into my burger and am instantly disappointed. When eating at the Pleasant Hill FG's I remember thinking how I could taste the quality of the beef they used. Not here, the patties were over cooked, luke warm like they had been sitting and seemed to have a greasy taste to them. The cheese on my bacon cheese burger was just thrown on there, it was cold and not even melted. Grilled mushrooms, not so grilled, flavorless and couldn't even tell they were there (I actually opened the bun to look). The bacon...over cooked to the point that it was all broken up. It was like eating bacon bits on a burger and just tasted bad. Management needs to take a serious look at this location. Best thing I can say about my visit is the peanuts were good. After all the hype that I've heard about Five Guys and their burgers, I decided to give it a try for the first time today. Sadly, I was disappointed. 2 Cheeseburgers, 2 Reg Drinks, 1 Lg Fry......$24. Really? For Jack N The Box quality food? No way... The burgers were tasty, but by after 2-3 bites, it was completely falling apart with all the crap they put on it. I'm not one to complain about extra toppings but I am one to complain about burgers just falling apart in your hands. By the end of my burger I was scooping the extra toppings that dropped off into the tin foil they wrap the burger in with whatever was left of my bun. The fries were gross, soggy and very salty. The customer service was fine...I didn't really interact with anyone other than the person taking my order. Clean facility. Needless to say I don't think I'll ever go back. I was excited about having a 5 guys opening so close to home. My experience trying it for the first time was awful. The burger was gross. Soggy, sloppy, and greasy. Before you go off and think, "hey it's a cheeseburger, it's suppose to have some grease"... Umm no! As I took a bite, grease was leaking out of the burger forming a puddle on the foil wrapper it came in. The fries were too salty and soggy. That was my first experience. Now, because I didn't learn my lesson. I tried it one more time thinking maybe it was a off day. I was once again disappointed. Same thing happened. My burger looked and tasted disgusting. My daughter got a hot dog. I tried that, and I was the cheapest tasting hot dog ive ever eaten. I could have went to the store and bought ball park hotdogs for less. This is the newly opened Burger joint, they have free roasted peanuts wow! and they are good! The hotdog is just okay, they're fried, you need to eat it right away or the bread will became soggy. Their Fries is very good freshly made great seasoning, the burger is so good you can tell its real real beef, the quality is superb, i lie putting mustard on my burger and it screams! in flavor. I like the ambiance, the music is just okay. The atmosphere is like in & out burger. I hope they will improve the hotdog, i love hotdogs. The place is packed, people are coming nonstop. I have heard nothing but awesome things about Five Guys and how great the fries were...ahh, not so much in my opinion. Loved the peanuts and unfortunately I found that to be the only real appetizing thing. We stopped here on the way home from San Francisco thinking I could get a veggie burger and fries and the boyfriend could get a burger of his liking as well. I was very disappointed with their veggie burger and what it consists of....nothing but sautéed vegetables that I am sure were previously frozen. Seriously, how hard is it to offer a Boca burger? I have no interest in going back to this restaurant again. read more

I loved my "Five Guys" burger when I had it in Walnut Creek. For some reason this place did not live up to my previous experience. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions and ketchup. (I pretty much kept it bare) (I wish they had an option for a fried egg or avocado!) With that burger , an order of large fries. I was not too familiar with the fry sizes so I had to ask how large they were. The cashier told me it was enough to feed 3-4 people.. With my appetite it was probably only enough for me. Over-hyped and over-priced. I wanted to like this place, and maybe my expectations were too high, but when you can get a better meal at In-and-Out for less than half the price of what you'll pay here, it was easy to be disappointed. Sure, they'll slather on all the condiments "at no extra charge" but there really is nothing free when you consider that their burgers are expensive to begin with. Well the peanuts are free and the fries are at least the equal of In-and-Out but the burger is more like Wendy's (ugh!), greasy from the griddle and sort of gray.
