I was curious to try this place after hearing all the hype about it. My husband and I went on a Saturday night about 9pm. We lucked out as there was no line. I was in the mood for fries and a milkshake, but was disappointed to discover they don't have shakes. So, we ordered fries. I got the bacon dog and my husband got a burger. The bacon dog was excellent. I added grilled onions and peppers with mustard and ketchup. One of the best I have had. My husband ordered a burger with bell peppers, grilled onions, bacon, and mushrooms. He thought it was ok, nothing special. He felt the bacon was overcooked and couldn't detect it's flavor on the burger. The biggest disappointment was the fries. They were overcooked. I would go back specifically for the bacon dog but nothing else. I wish they would add shakes to their menu, as that would bring me back too. read more

On saturday I thought I would take my husband out to a movie and dinner. We both decided that we didn't want a big dinner but we both wanted burgers. So I suggested that we try 5 Guys. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! First off their food is to expensive, almost $7 dollars for a burger, then throw in a drink and some fries and boy we could have gone to Chili's for the $22 we spent here. The bacon was burnt and had no taste to it, the buns were a little soggy and bread and butter pickles are not acceptable on a burger! Beyond all of this, the one thing that bothered us both was our clothes and hair smelt like fries and a burger. The ventilation in this 5 Guys is terrible. The big difference though was the taste of the burger. It taste alot better than I remember. I eat at In-N-Out every now and then and I have to say this time Five Guys beat them. Normally, I don't complain, yet I felt this was necessary this time. I was hungry for Five Guys, it's been a while. So today I went to this location and placed my order at 1:46:15PM, CUSTOMER RECEIPT #55 (Transaction Seq. No:473655). As I was waiting for my food, I had ordered a large drink and walked over to the soda machines. I dispensed "UNSWEETENED" Ice Tea, which didn't look right (discolored and cloudy)to me, so I discarded it and dispensed another cup. Again, very discolored and cloudy, so I decided to taste it just to make sure there was an issue before bringing it to the three (3) young ladies working. I tasted it, sure enough it didn't taste right, so I brought it to the employees attention. While doing so, they were very uncaring with me bringing it to their attention. They said they would check the pump in the back. So I went to the restroom and later returned to retrieve my food. I checked the tea dispenser again, still was the same issue. I asked about the tea dispenser again, the three (3) employees appeared bothered and responded, " we checked it, it showing full. It's probably the air in the lines." So I checked it again, same issues, discolored, cloudy and didn't taste right. The employees did not ask to help and saw me tasting the ice tea. I didn't bother to push the issue any further based off their very uncaring attitude. Very-very disappointed in their customer service!!!!! read more

We had heard that Five Guys Burgers were the best! As we cruised through Redlands, we saw the lovely patio dining area with a bubbling fountain in front of Five Guys Burgers. The indoor dining area seemed similar to In and Out. The roasted peanuts in shell were a nice surprise to tide us over while we waited for our burgers. We ordered the double burgers with everything. The meat was flavorful and juicy and the toppings (onions, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato) were delish! The fries were ordinary. We loved the dining ambiance on the patio. However, the price was steep, almost twice what an In and Out double burger costs. And I have to say, In and Out burgers are every bit as good! read more

I'm gonna say "meh" to this. Been three times now. No complaints about the quality or freshness of the food, or the service. To me, the burgers aren't that great, and the fries are over-seasoned and cooked at the wrong temperature, leaving them somewhat soggy and greasy. I'd probably give it three stars, except they are touted as the "East Coast" competition to In-n-Out. Because of that, I expect something beyond ordinary. From that perspective, it disappoints. I *WOULD* recommend trying it - again, the two star rating doesn't have anything to do with quality, freshness, or service. There's obviously a reason this company has been so successful, and I have found no reason to recommend anyone stay way. There is nothing fancy. It serves good old fashioned burgers anyway you like it. I order mine with BBQ sauce, pickles, lettuce & Hot sauce. Everything is fresh, stand and wait for your order or it will get soggy if you wait outside talking with your friends. What makes this place for me are the Cajun fries. Fresh cut, seasoned & a regular order can be shared. Compared to fast food the prices are higher. This is a step above, yet a burger will not cost you $10 like a t a restaurant. read more

I have finally figured out how to eat at Five guys on a budget. Ready? First, this will only work if you are with someone else. The baby burger has 1 patty and is $3.69 Add bacon for 75cents more. Add cheese for 75 cents more. The regular burger is $5.69 and has 2 patties. Now keep in mind, the patties are pretty good size. All toppings are free (except bacon and cheese).. So... DO NOT order cheese or bacon.. Yes you heard correctly. This automatically saves you $1.50 Secondly, DO NOT order the regular burger with 2 patties that is $5.69 without bacon and without cheese (ouch!). The baby burger should suffice. Next order all of the desired toppings to your hearts content. It will be piled high! So high, you will never miss the cheese or bacon (really). Also, dont order a large fries. Order a small fries and share them with your buddy. They dont just put enough to fill the cup, they pile those fries on so high, it is like getting 2 portions. Next... If you are eating in, dont order a drink. Ask for a cup for H20. Not ordering 2 drinks saves you another $5 and after all of that fat you just chugged down do you really need all the sugar from a fountain drink?). Lets see... 2 burgers and the small fries should run about $11.50 tax included. This is good to do if you wanna check out the hype and taste the burgers. Otherwise it just doesn't seem to be worth it. If you order a regular burger with bacon and cheese, small fries and a small drink it will set you back about $13.50 for one person!!! If you try it my way, two people can have lunch for $12 TOTAL!! Believe me when I say you will be full and probably be glad you saved the cash. read more

I had been hearing all kinds of comments of how great this "new" burger place is and that I need to try it. I also saw that it beat out In-n-out as the favorite burger in So Cal. In this review I use In-n-out as my benchmark seeing as the style of both places is similar - fast casual, open kitchen, fresh cut pototoes/fries, etc. We finally tried it and were not dissappointed. I like that the burgers are a little thicker than In-n-out and have a lot less lettuce which to me is just a waste of space. When my burger came out I noticed that the cheese was not melted - slow drivers, unmelted cheese, sandwiches not cut on the diagonal are all huge pet peeves of mine. The cheese actually melted as it sat on the piping hot burgers and was quite good so my pet peeve was "overuled" in this case. My girl had the little cheeseburger and it was just right for her. She did mention that she did like the sauce on the In-n-out burger - I think it's like a house dressing. We went with the cajun fries which were very good but my all time favorite fries are probably In-n-outs??? For pretty much the same meal at In-n-out it was about $8 more so by far I appreciate In-n-outs prices. The atmosphere was pleasant and I enjoyed the overhead music. Overall, I would say it's a tie between the two and I would recommend at least giving 5 Guys a try!!! read more

I'll start on a positive note, the hamburgers were better than average. (3 stars) However, I've never been told I can't order my hamburger cooked medium rare. Apparently they have a company policy that burgers have to be cooked one way, their way. Well done. What? Makes me think they're concerned about their beef supply. I should have left because the people working there were just plain unfriendly. You need to work on your customer service. For example, instead of "are you going to have one or two patties?" You might ask, "have you been here here before?" Then asked if I want one or two patties since you want to get a jumpstart on cooking them (especially since they have to be cooked well done. LOL). I had no idea what you were asking since I had never been here before nor had I looked at the menu. Oh, who likes to eat out of a bag when you are eating in and not taking it to go? I felt like a kid on the playground at lunch. (They serve the food in a bag regardless of whether you eat in or take out. ) It got worse... Lol. A lady with her wild kids came in, one of them screaming bloody murder as they came through the door, and the other who immediately ran over and started playing with the soda machine. Ewwww. I'm a big time junk food fan. I dine on Del Taco and Jack-in-the-Box like they're going out of style. I also enjoy my occasional hot dog at 7-11 and microwaveable burrito (please don't hate). Needless to say, my standards are extremely lax and for me to rate any place two stars has got to mean something. The burger was less than spectacular and tasteless. The fries were limp and nasty. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, for the price of one burger here I can get a whole meal at In & Out for a better deal. Obviously if there is a new burger joint in this small town of mine I've gotta try it out. Especially if people are saying it beats In-n-Out! I walked in and was instantly overwhelmed by the amount of tables crammed into this small space and the quotes on the walls saying how great this place was. As I was standing in line I got the feeling I was being herded through the Five Guys storage room. I also found it odd that there was a completely female staff. I took my food to go and by the time I got home (five minutes) and started eating my burger, the bun was completely soaked. By the last few bites it felt like I had chewed the bread and spit it back onto the burger. The grilled onions weren't grilled very much and the mushrooms were kinda rubbery. Other than those few things the burger was ok. The fries were nothing special either. I wish they had a smaller amount for personal consumption. All in all, I would rather go to In-n-Out, cheaper food and way better. I'm going to let this place get established before I go back. read more

My husband and I tried this place a few days ago. The cashier was not very "friendly" we told her we were new and she didn't help much. She just stood there with a blank face and waited for us to order. The prices are ridiculous and on top of that they don't have combos. You have to pay for everything individually which is just crazy. The food is okay nothing special..the patty is good but not worth that much at all. The cajun fries are okay and they actually give you alot. I don't see myself going anytime soon but maybe when I want to switch it up after a while I might go back. But until then I will stick to my fav burger place w/ the animal style ;) read more

I am sick and tired of the hype that this place is better than In-N-Out. Let's set it straight. It's NOT. The bun is softer and you get a wider choice of condiments, but to say that the burger is better is like saying a VW is better with a V8 engine. In other words, just because you have it doesn't make it better. Five Guys will never be as good as the simple formula of a basic In N Out burger. Haven't been here in a year because I was unimpressed the first time. I decided to give it a try again today and wow. I remembered why I stayed away. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger(which by default comes as a double patty even though the menu doesn't say that), a regular Cajun fry and regular drink. The price? Just a mere $15.09! Are you kidding me? I figure this to be the most expensive fast food burger joint in the IE. I like the Cajun fries because no place really serves them, but the burger was ho-hum. Flavorless patty, weak bacon comparable to Carl's jr, and no thousand island or ranch in the building! So sad. I won't be back for another year minimum. The only reason it gets two stars is because the Cajun fries are good and plentiful, and they have the modern drinking fountains where the choices are endless.
