I grew up on the West Coast in San Diego and as you've probably guessed, I'm a die hard In-N-Out fan. The only burger I've ever known and cared for was the the "Animal Style" Cheeseburger (a regular cheeseburger with grilled onions and pickles added). It was the burger that saw me through my childhood, through my ups and downs and would be the burger that would always have my heart. During my two short years of living in New Jersey, I learned of the East Coast's go-to burger, Five Guys. One day, I longed for an In-N-Out burger there were none to be found. I was excited to find a temporary fix while away from San Diego so I went out and tried Five Guy's popular burgers. I was blown away by this burger. It was substantial, it was huge, it was loaded and it was beyond fresh. I didn't know that I would ever crave another burger than In-N-Out, but that was not the case. Five guys is the only other burger I will dream about and crave because it's so good that it makes that kind of impression. You can get crazy with customization or just leave it to them and "go all the way" with their set award winning combination of toppings- Mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, grilled onions, mustard. Other topping options include: onions, fried onions, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A-1 sauce, Bar-B-Q sauce and hot sauce. I could only imagine and dream about the other undiscovered award winning combinations out there. I'm glad I have a lot of time to explore. I thought wow, this burger is great, but then I hear from family & friends, "Wait, there's more!" Yes, their sides of Cajun fries and milkshakes were equally as satisfying. Great portion and great flavor, Cajun fries always hits the spot (with just the perfect amount of spice). I love that they fry them in peanut oil and that they're always super fresh. Though after sitting in a bag, you can see some oil seep through but that's why I like to share them with my family, so as to cut down on the fat. If the fries weren't enough, they even serve milkshakes, that are without a doubt, super refreshing, true to their flavor, without preservatives and super delicious. During my visits throughout the year, I always went directly for the burgers, but one day I saw their hot dogs on the menu and felt it was time to try them out. Not only does Five Guys have award winning hamburgers, but yes, award winning hot dogs as well. I had the plain hot dog with "all the way" toppings and I couldn't stop saying "Yum!" with each bite. The dog was seasoned perfectly, not too salty (as lots of dogs are for me) and with no preserved taste at all. I would encourage for everyone to try their hot dogs. Service is very efficient at Five Guys. They have a nice energy between their team, communicating and talking to one another to ensure the best experience possible. I love that they are fast with food prep and hand off with confidence and a smile. Five guys, along with In-N-Out, will always be among my top favorite burgers. They're both different, but both so good so I can't choose a number one. Last thing to note is that they have complimentary peanuts (self-serve). Say What!? When craving a fresh made burger and fries I always narrow it down to Five Guys. The food is make in the spot with the custom toppings to your liking. I'm always surprised by the amount of fries they load in even when you order a small fry. This time around I also ordered a Oreo milkshake and it was the perfect combo. The service is quick and they were very busy too. If you choose to eat there be prepared for it to be loud as the kitchen is wide open so all you hear is the sizzle of burger patties on the grill and the hustle and bustle of the staff putting out orders. read more

It's been years since I've had Five Guys since I tend to go to In N Out, but my family wanted Five Guys. For 6 of us it cost over $140! So it's definitely on the pricier side. I had a cheeseburger with lettuce, Tomato, grilled onions, mayo, and ketchup. It was very good. Didn't realize they came with two patty's. Unfortunately the bun got soggy and fell apart quickly. Next time I'd get the sauce on the side. Id also add fresh onions. The regular fries were good and the large size gives you a massive serving. We weren't a fan of the Cajun fries as they were quite salty. The shakes here are much better than In N Out. read more

When I unwrapped the burgers, there was no lettuce, no tomato, no mayo, no mustard, no catsup, no toppings at all. it was just two patties of meat with one slice of cheese between the two patties. The girl who took the order never asked if we wanted any toppings. They gave us three totally plain burgers. I can't imagine anybody wanting to order three totally plain burgers. We had a couple of errands to run at lunchtime on a Friday and not a lot of time. We were going to try out the new Chick-fil-A but the parking lot was completely full and there were other options very close. (We have been to Chick-fil-A before and anticipated it to be very similar.) We have also been to Five Guys and expected them to be similar as others. We also expected it to be less busy than the nearby recently opened Chick-fil-A. We found parking and walked in. It was about 12:15pm. There was a line of about 10 people, the dining area was pretty full. They have peanuts near the door, a scoop and containers to put them in. Nice snacking touch for waiting in line. The line moved very fast and we were at the counter very quickly. The menu is very simple and basic. We placed our orders, filled our own drinks and had a seat to wait. We both ordered the little bacon cheeseburger with various toppings and decided to share an order of fries. Our order number was called very quickly, we picked it up and returned to our table. It makes it easy that they number the outside of the sandwiches to match the receipt. The order was also accurate considering the various toppings. The burgers and fries were all very good. The food is good, the service was fast. The staff was friendly. This is a good quick burger joint. read more

Five guys is the new In 'n Out, for me anyways. I still like In n Out's fries but the fries at Five Guys is really good and they give generous portions of them. They use what looks like soda cups not the traditional French fry box. They fill the cup, put it in a paper bag and then add heap of fries to top it off. I used to get the Large for me and my kids but we never end up finishing them since there's a lot so we just get the "Little" size fries which is just right. read more

Came here for lunch and it was really good. I came here at sorta a weird time it was 2:30 in the afternoon. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the cheeseburger with toppings and also the Cajun fries. Both of them were the small size but way more than enough. I got my order pretty fast which was nice. The burger was exactly how I wanted it. It tasted fresh and was very flavorful. The fries which I ordered the small size came with a ton of fries. The Cajun seasoning was spicy but not overwhelming at all. They were also crispy which is how I love my fries. I also might have indulged in the peanuts too. : ). Overall it was exactly what I wanted. It was fast the service was good and so was the food. The interior was clean which is always a good thing. Normally Five Guys is a solid 3 star burger, good enough for a quickie, but definitely not on the menu if you're willing to go somewhere that serves a real burger and don't mind waiting for a while. It used to be a toss up when I would decide between In-N-Out and 5 Guys. I think I'm going to scratch 5 Guys and replace them with Steak & Shake. I could get 2 burgers with fries there for the money I spent here. They skimped me on my fries. My fries were not hot and not seasoned as I asked. I ordered them salted with just a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning. I received overseasoned Cajun fries that were barely warm. I guess I'm being a little nitpicky with this, but this is how I've always ordered from 5 Guys. I usually get a cup heaping with fries and an extra scoop covering the burger. I didn't. I finished them off after driving a few blocks. I'm used to them lasting at least several miles. The burger was typical 5 guys except the prices have gone up considerably in the last decade. I ordered it with extra mayo and mustard, which was barely even there. They did put a nice serving of bacon on there, so no complaints with that. I've never had to ask for extra grilled jalapenos, but apparently you need to here. It used to be a good value for the buck, but it was not worth the $12.95 for the double bacon cheeseburger and the lukewarm small fries lacking that good extra scoop. read more

Well then the burgers are still delicious! There are so many toppings you can choose from to personalize your burger - bell peppers, onions, Frank's red hot sauce, A1 steak sauce and much more, theres a little something for everyone to enjoy here. Their french fries are some of the best in town, and they jam pack your bag full of them, which is perfect because it's tough to stop poppin em into your mouth! So why the 4 stars? Well... there was a long period of time where this restaurant was woefully inconsistent, sometimes the burgers would be way too overcooked to the point of being borderline inedible, sometimes the patties would be undercooked, making them feel wet and mushy in our mouths. During this period the employees were very unkind, we always felt like we were ruining the employees day by simply showing up. While this is no longer the case, things have improved vastly over the past few months, the quality has become more consistent and the employees seem nice. But there's always that thought in the back of our minds "what if this burger sucks again, what if we spend another 30 bucks on another mismanaged meal" it really soured our experience. Should things take a turn for the worse again, this place would drop down to a 3 star rating, but I'm giving them a 4 for now because they really have turned things around! Five Guys, welcome to Reno. You live up to the expectations, hype and reputation. Is this a cheap garbage burger that you get for $2-$3? No...it's a fully customizable burger with not only meaty goodness but also a plethora of toppings to satisfy nearly every want. The Super soda machine is great. And the fries are awesome, especially the Cajun seasoning. And just a note, the seasoning can be gotten on the side for a family that has mixed palate. I haven't ordered on line but it is an option. The one negative would be the cramped seating area. Maybe there is some sort of "business psychology" going on with the overly packed dining room. But that really is the least of my worries when I bite into this burger. I waited til the second time to do the bunless burger. It seems to normally come "bowl" style but I requested it wrap style. No complaints here at all. Cooked to perfection and the cheese was melted. Oh and my daughter always gets and loves the hot dog. This place has been slacking lately. Well, for a while now. Since long before the pandemic so they can't blame it on that, I've just put off the review in hopes for change. The Five Guys I've been to in other states, would give you fries that filled up the bag, this location barely fills up the cup. Very annoying when I know how more than 5 separate locations I've been to give you an abundance of fries. Next, it's NEVER ready on time. I always do pickup. Even before COVID-19 and not once has it ever been close to being ready to the time of scheduled pick up. I'm actually waiting right now for my food which sparked the want to write this review I've put off for so long. I will complete the review to see how long I wait past my pick up, it's usually 20 minutes. My pick up today is scheduled for 5:08, right now it's 5:22, let's see. 5:30 is when I received my 5:08 order. New record for them. And not a good one. read more
