I ordered the New Yorker sandwich which was served as a hot pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was good and the bread was perfectly toasted, but I feel like $13 is kind of pricey for a sandwich, but I guess nowadays everything is expensive. If you want to make it a combo, it's an additional $4.50 for chips and a soda. They also sell 10lb bags of ice which was interesting. This is in a plaza with a small parking lot so parking can be a challenge during peak hours.

The tax was $1.50. My total purchase today was $9.25. I had to wait at least 30 minutes later until my order number 109 was called to the front counter today. There was non stop walk in customers coming into this California Burrito Restaurant at the lunch hour between 12:30 AM to 2:30 PM today. Their majority of their customers were of Mexican descent and I saw only 3 Black People placing their orders with Caesar today. I was the only Asian person ordering from this California Burrito Restaurant this afternoon. I also noticed 2 Nurses picking up their orders today who work for Sharp Memorial Hospital today. Everything felt very transactional, no eye contact, no smile, no personality. And even the hand-written chalk menu basically tells you that they don't care about your preferences. The place is NOT clean, and possibly has not been cleaned in years. We sat at the counter where we could see them prepare food and I'm glad we saw what was happening; it was a bit of a stomach turning experience that made us uneasy thinking about eating the food. The woman who took our order also prepared our food, and everyone else's, that had ordered just before and after us, and she did NOT change her gloves even though she was multi-tasking with taking orders & prepping & cooking food. She touched so many things: her face, her hair, her apron, her pants, the screen on the register, all the food, & cooking utensils, and a dirty towel, all with the same gloves on . She wiped her gloves repeatedly on that dirty towel and then used it again and again to wipe off the food prep surfaces and the red trays used to serve food, which did NOT get washed in between uses, only wiped down. So many moments As I was watching this unfold, I looked up to see an A in the window and it made me wonder how they passed the inspection . This is a NEVER again for us.

For a fast food place, Five Guys is probably the best burger besides In-n-Out. But it is still not anywhere near the best in San Diego. I usually get the little bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and BBQ sauce. Every time I come here I notice that they toast the bun and put all the condiments and toppings on it and let it sit out while they cook my burger. By the time it is done and they put it on the bun all my bread is usually soggy. I feel like they should be constantly cooking burgers so they come off the grill right when they order. I have seen them doing this when I ate at Five Guys back on the East Coast. Maybe it is not as popular here so they don't have enough traffic to be continuously cooking burgers, but I would prefer it if they waited to prepare my bun. I like how they offer peanuts and you can toss them on the floor. I have ordered a hot dog a few times and it is decent. I like the Cajun fries. Overall pretty decent spot, not the best. read more

I'm a big fan! I love burgers and the burgers here have never disappointed. I stopped by last night as I was excited to finally use a gift card that I got for Christmas. Plus my wife was out of town and I didn't feel like cooking anything at home. I got the bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, grilled onions, and pickles. Delicious! I tried the Cajun fries also. Those were really good too! I love how they always give you so much more fries in the bag in addition to what fits in the fry container. The chocolate shake was good as well. It had been a few months since I last came here so it was a great treat to come back. I plan to be back sooner. read more

I used a gift card to purchase a burger, fries and a shake at this location. After the fact, they told us the milkshake machine was broken and asked if I wanted a drink to substitute the $5.59 shake. I politely said no thank you, but may I have a refund for the shake. After about ten minutes, they said that since they tossed the gift card there was nothing they could do. He said next time I come in I could ask for a shake and they would give it to me for free... I'm not sure how that would work. They could have given me a new gift card with the $5.59 on it... but they didn't. read more

I have eaten 5 guys several times, however it is usually better on the East Coast, especially around the D.C. area where it was originally established. However this Five Guys location holds its own and it is the only one in San Diego that I can compare to the other stores back east. I love how you can completely customize your burger. My favorite combo is a bacon cheeseburger with green peppers, grilled onions, jalapenos, and light BBQ sauce. Their Cajun fries are also delicious. read more

Good burgers. Nice employees. However I take away two stars because- 1) very expensive ($20 for two large burgers and one fry, no drinks). Price does not necessarily mean quality. 2) the tables were not clean. We were the first ones to show up, so clearly the staff the night before didn't know how to clean properly. Overall I would only come again if my son wanted to. If you have a choice, In and Out is a better choice for the value and quality. read more

Major craving satisfied here! I can't say that the burger's special, especially cause I find it too greasy than other burgers. But the service is great, and the peanut's well-roasted and free, so you would enjoy the place. Also, I am impressed with how fast the service is. There were plenty of kids when I ate here, so it's noisy but it was an altogether fun and lively place to have burger and fries. I'll be back again for the cajun fries! read more
