Don't let the line that snakes around this burger joint deter you from dining here. The guys in the kitchen work like a well-oiled machine! They whip orders together with an intensity that Gordon Ramsay would be impressed by. There must have been a good 20 people in front of us, but we were ordering in 10 minutes and with our food 5 minutes later. And it was FRESH! Their menu is simple. You can order: burgers (with/without cheese and with/without bacon), hot dogs (with/without cheese and with/without bacon), fries (regular and cajun) that are cooked in pure, no cholesterol peanut oil and sodas. They offer a variety of toppings that are all FREE: Mayo, Relish, Onions, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Jalapeno Peppers, Green Peppers, A-1 Sauce, Bar-B-Q Sauce, Hot Sauce. Want it all? Just order it "All The Way." The burger comes in two sizes. The "Burger" comes with 2 patties and the "Little Burger" comes with 1. The "Little Burger" is already huge, so unless you have a hearty appetite, I would suggest sticking with the Little one. And no need for a large order of fries. A regular order can feed a family of 4 easily. We felt so wasteful that we ordered 1 Cajun and 1 regular. The Cajun is a little overly spiced, so you might want to go with regular if you want to cut out some sodium. The burger was PERFECT! Seriously, it could go head to head with some $18 gourmet burgers. My little bacon cheeseburger had grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. I was actually bummed that I couldn't finish the entire thing because it was so delicious. And while the food was fantastic, I was more impressed with their service. **NOT THAAAAAAAT GOOD OF A BURGER** Ordered the REGULAR (yes, two patties, baby) with everything on it with large fries. ROUND #1: Burger came out dry, buns were smooshed, and the cheese did not melt . . . it didn't taste like how it should have tasted, based on the other Yelp reviews. Took it back and the manager was cool about it; made me another burger within 5 minutes. Round #2: Burger was juicier but the buns, cheese, and flavor were the same results as Round #1. Meh. Move over In & Out....the new kid in town has taken over....Minus the drive thru. The taste of their burgers are far more supreme and I'm definitely a fan of their double patties with bacon. They have a variety of sauces, such as barbecue sauce, A1 sauce, and hot sauce to complement your burger too. I'm a huge fan of their fries, as they are made fresh! I thought it was really cool how they have a sign that tells their customers where their potatoes were shipped from that day. They also have sandwiches and hot dogs on their menu, but it looks like the majority of people were there for their burgers. I'm sure their sandwiches and hot dogs are just as great though. I came here for lunch after the San Jose Rock N' Roll Half Marathon last year. Apparently, this is the happening spot for lunch on a Sunday. The place was packed, and we had to hover and wait for tables. I was so hungry, I didn't bother to look at the menu carefully. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and large fries to share. When I unwrapped my burger, I realized there were two patties. The burger was HUGE! Ahhhh..that's why they have "Little" burgers on the menu...single patty. Good to know for next time. Quite frankly, I don't get the hype with 5 Guys. Yes, they're fast. We got to the shop a bit before 11:30 and the place was already packed, but thankfully no lines. By a quarter till noon, the line covered the whole wall. The area around the food pick up and drinks could be improved. Too many people for such a small space. As for the burger, my little cheeseburger was alright. I asked for everything but onion. The mushrooms were a bit different. The sauce at In 'n Out adds a bit of a kick to the burger. I thought the 5Guys burger was a bit bland. The fries were huge in portion but they were just alright. Again, In 'n Out does a better job with the skinny fries, and they aren't as mushy. I would just like to know if the manager at this location understands the seriousness of Covid?? How can one of your employees test positive yet you don't do a proper shut down and insist that your employees come to work without getting their test results back?. Not to mention the food at this location is subpar compared to some of the other locations. Think of a wee-bit more upscale In 'n out burger. It's actually the same amount of time you would have to wait in the drive-thru but you get a better burger with all the toppings your heart ever desired. I came in in a weeknight, this place was cracking, the line was to the door. My order was pretty complicated, I guess my food reflects who I am...mini cheeseburger bacon with: pickles, jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, grilled onions, relish, and green peppers. The clerk took my order with ease. It's not the most gorgeous thing but the taste was there and I appreciated the freshness of ingredients, especially the fresh jalapenos. Of course it's not the best burger I ever had, but its is quite satisfying for the value. A small order of cajun fries can feed two, the line moves fast. your food is prepared quickly, and on top of that all you can eat free peanuts. This week was my 2nd time ever coming to this Five Guys Burgers & Fries location. I like their burgers. It's been a while seen I ate here. I had a nice experience. I had to guide my friend towards the right because she didn't know where the order area was...no line at all! yup, nice, hehe. I love it when there's no line to order...strolling in like a VIP rock star, but of course the tickets in the kitchen were stacked to order, so usually expect a wait time of 5 minutes or more for your order to be complete. The cashier guy taking the our order was very friendly and had a nice personality. I let him know it's been a long time since I've been here. Plus, I think it could've been my friend's first time because we both needed clarifications on what a Little and the other size difference. So, Little Burger is 1 patty, the other equals 2 patties. We ended up ordering 1 little bacon cheese burger & requested it to be cut in half...my friend is on a diet, but I'm trying to gain some 2 lbs. LOL. I love toppings and asked for them to add in extra mushrooms too, besides the BBQ sauce, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, and green peppers. We also got the small sized Cajun-style fries. I love the Cajun style fries! It's very tasty with the spices, herbs, and salt. The staff here are really nice. I walked to the restroom before our order was ready, and the timing was funny. I have been meaning to try this place for a while, and finally did the other night with a friend. And let's just say their little Zagat reviews posted on the window is bogus. I get much better cheeseburger at In N Out than this! Sad. The burgers are a bit pricier, and it's a little amusing that a "little cheeseburger" means it has one patty. I like the idea of choosing my toppings, but it was still not good enough! Buns were not toasted and got soggy, the meat was alright but nothing special, and toppings are just toppings.. Overall the service was good, the restaurant is clean, and they overflow your large cup with fries. When we got the brown bag of our food, a handful of fries were at the bottom and the cup of fries was still full! We probably should had ordered a regular to share instead. Okay since I've been frequenting this place lately I have experienced a couple things that made me want to come back to do an update & knock off 2 stars. My first & foremost reason for knocking off the stars is the FLIES. Today was the second time that there have been flies lingering inside the restaurant. RIGHT next to the menu in the area where they make the food, to be exact! That's just so UNSANITARY & plain gross. Please work on keeping the doors CLOSED so that flies cant come inside. Its really disgusting to look up & see like 3-4 flies in front of the menu as I'm about to order... Hoping they don't land on the food I'm about to eat. =[ The other -star is because the last two times I've asked for A-1 sauce on my burger & they were so stingey with it that I kept thinking they forgot to put it in. That is until I noticed some A-1 stain on my bun that indicated that they did infact put some, just VERY little. If you're looking for some fresh tasting food, look away because this isn't the place. Five guys has not won my heart. Their burger and fries were all right, but not very special in my opinion. The only plus about this place is you can add a variety of free toppings to your burger. You can get a little (single patty) or a regular (two patties). As for the fries there are two sizes. A regular is enough to feed two people. I'm not a very big fan of their fries because they were soft and super oily. I wonder if it's because they fry their fries in peanut oil. Speaking of peanuts, they offer complimentary peanuts by the door so help yourself. FYI, Five Guys is close to Boiling Crab, Wingstop, and Famous Daves. I had a craving for a burger and fries so I stopped here for lunch recently. It did not disappoint. I got Little single cheeseburger with the "All the Way" toppings, as well as the Little sized fries. The fries were crisp on the outside but soft inside. And they give you a ton.  The burger is definitely not Little. Its a huge burger with lots of toppings. A mess to eat but worth it. The table tops could have been cleaner but overall the place was in good shape. Also both ketchup dispensers were empty and they refilled them fast. They also have those fancy soda machines that have like 50 options. So definitely a great place for your burger and fries fix. Now when I first walked into this place and saw the price of the burgers, I was like this close to walking out and saying forgot this I'll go to Carl's Jr or something. Then I was like o well let's just give it a try, there's a lot of people here so it must be good. So I ordered a regular cheese burger with all the upper toppings but no mustard and pickles. So I get the burger it is huge with all the toppings added like mushrooms, onions, lettuce, all placed on a sesame seed bun...Boy it was so good, the meat patty is so moist and juicy, I have never tasted a burger so juicy. I was so hooked at here like 3-4 times in span of 2 weeks, kept me coming back for more. All I have to say is that this a better burger than in and out, but a little pricer but worth it!!! read more

As I read on the reviews ordering a reg. size fries is plentiful for two people even three! It was spot on true! While we were waiting we grabbed some complimentary peanuts they offer in the dining area. They were good but a bit on the salty side for me. It took about 10 minutes to get our food which felt like 30 considering how hungry we were! Our order finally arrive. It came in a paper bag which I didn't mind because if we have leftovers we are good to go! Plus the fries that fall at bottom are sweet surprise if you run out! Our orders were pretty much the same.My boyfriend and I ordered the small cheeseburgers( I read the reg burgers have two patties) his with everything and jalapenos and A-1! Before entering Five Guys, we were already bombard with propaganda of how speculator Five Guys was on the outside. They definitely pride themselves on their accomplishments. A couple of people said this place was good so we decided to check it out. As we enter the store, we saw more propaganda hanging on the wall, sacks of potatoes, and peanut shells on the floor. Niceeee, a really chilled and laid back environment. The menu is pretty straight-forward and easy to understand. I ordered the cheeseburger with 'all the above,' regular fries and a soda. We were able to get a handful of peanuts that served as an appetizer so that was a treat. The burger was delicious! Reminded me of a really really good outdoor-do-it-yourself BBQ burger or something! The taste was familiar but I couldn't pinpoint any other burger joint that had the same taste. The cheddar cheese was half melted so you can the softness of it. The amount of fries given overflowed my cup so that was good. :) The ambiance reminded me of an In-n-Out with it's red/white interior with the red checkered boxes. It was pretty pack also so but the wait wasn't long at all. I wasn't able to finish my food because I wasn't that hungry so I took it to go. I'm excited to eat it tomorrow for leftovers though! We went to the much anticipated grand opening today for lunch and it was PACKED! The cheeseburgers were fresh and a cool bonus is that you can get a boat load of condiments from tomatoes and lettuce to grilled onions and mushrooms to jalapenos and BBQ sauce at no extra charge. The regular size burgers are big enough by themselves but if you're extra hungry or adventurous, get the regular cheeseburger (with double the patties and size). Five Guys also serves french fries "southern style", soaked in peanut oil for 1 hour before cooking, thus they are slightly soggy. (Before anyone starts harping on the fries without knowing the history) Order the regular size fries because it's a LOT (in both the cup and the awaiting bag). The atmosphere is very clean and vibrant, showing its stripes across its walls with all its Zagat ratings, news stories and celebrity articles. The 50 lbs of Idaho potatoes double as a wall to the counter. Staff was very friendly and the owner even meets and greets you (of course, it's opening day too). The first time I came here, they didn't follow two of my requests for my veggie sandwich which was: -Cut in half -double toast/grill Customer service wasn't all that great and as a former employee, I remember the managers prioritizing exceptional customer service. After 2 bites, I bit into a bread expiration tag. After complaining in a survey that you, too, can take if you take a look at the bottom part of your recipe. I think you get ~$25/mo worth of a Five Guys gift card if your survey gets chosen in a random draw. The manager, Mariah, called me and apologized for the less than good experience and asked if I could come back to give then a second shot. Well, the food was good, which is more than I can say for the customer service at this location. After we had ordered I went to the soda fountain to find that one was performing maintenance and wouldn't work and the other was out of almost everything (and everything that was left was diet). I went up to the counter to inform an employee about this in which I stood there while a woman kept looking up at me from her station in which she was doing nothing, but did not come over or ask if I needed anything. Once the guy at the counter had finished with his customer I told him the situation and he said he took care of it. Well, 'taking care of it' was standing there fiddling with the machine for five minutes and then abandoning it. The restaurant wasn't even busy, there was a point where the employees were standing around laughing, while the machine remained unfilled. I wasn't sure if something might have been broken or if they just didn't know what they were doing, but they weren't even warning their customers about this as I watched many others struggle trying to find a selection. Over hyped, over-priced, and we were totally unimpressed. We had two cheeseburgers and an order of the Cajun Fries. The food was all really greasy, especially the burger. It wasn't a good type of greasy either - it was almost a careless greasy, as if they don't bother draining anything or actually take pride in the excessive greasiness. Grease leaked through the bag, basically ripping it - it was totally disgusting. Given a burger costs twice as much as In-N-Out, I expected it to be quite a bit better. Unfortunately, the only thing "better" about it was that it was marginally larger and had mushrooms in it. I'm an In-n-Out girl and finally got around to trying Five Guys. It's been hyped up a lot by my friends so I made the 30 minute drive to check it out. Very good burgers I must say. And I actually do like their fries better than INO fries. However, I prefer INO's buns, lettuce, cheese, spread etc. The meat at Five Guys is very tasty and juicy, and thicker than INO patties. so, i tried this place out during grand opening way back, and i had A LOT of expectations for it because my friends said it was SOOOO GOOD and it was totally comparable to in & out. i didnt want to review yet because i wanted to give them a second chance. so i had lunch there with the other half today and i still stand on my first thought. in & out wins! =) i ordred the bacon cheeseburger with EVERYTHING and jalapeno peppers, cajun fries WELL DONE, and a reg drink. all for about $12. kinda steep for a fast food burger joint. anyhow, yes, the color scheme is comparable to in n out and the style of freshly cook fries. but, the burger itself, is nothing comparable to in n out. totally far in my book. five guys is more soggy. juicy, messy, and bigger, but i like the toasty-ness of in & outs buns better. i like their yummy spread. overall, i just like it better. =P i also ordered their fries WELL DONE today and i thought it was better this time around. not too soggy like my first experience. still soggy, but just not as bad. =P read more

Overall, Five Guys and their sesame seed buns are better than In-N-Out burgers, but also more expensive by $1-$2, and definitely not anywhere as good as Shake Shack. Did not live up to the hype for me. Pros: - Five Guys let's you customize your burger. So many options! You can have everything in it or nothing at all for the same price. Mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, mayo, lettuce, etc - all up to you! - It's nice that they have a "little burger" which is actually a regular sized burger, and a "burger" which is a double patty for meat eaters. - Their cajun fries are pretty good. - Friendly employees Cons: - The burger itself was kind of bland. It was lacking the grilled or charbroiled flavor a burger should have. - Price is affordable, but more than what I was expecting to pay for. I have never been here before, but people have always been telling me how comparable it is to in-n-out. However, I can honestly say when I took my first bite into my little hamburger, I thought I was eating at Burger King. The cajun fries at Five Guys was pretty good as in-n-out doesn't have anything similar, but Five Guys is definitely way overpriced. TLDR; In-n-out is better than Five Guys. read more

I just went here for the first time because I heard that it was suppose to be the "best burger" around; I had ordered the bacon burger (2 handmade burger patties, bacon) with everything on it (lettuce, mayo, mushroom, ketchup, mustard, tomatoes) and also a side of cajun fries. The fries were actually my favorite to eat here, the seasoning that they use were the common ones that you would find at any other restaurant. The burger itself was pretty hard to eat, the buns were very thin that everything was falling apart. I had to hand pick the rest from the foil to eat. Overall, Five Guys Burgers is A-OK. Friendly people, not too crowded, but parking is always a nightmare at the Plant. It's clean inside too, which is always a plus. There's also a lot of places to choose from to sit. I was STARVING when I got here so I ordered my usual: a little cheeseburger with fries. What I love about Five Guys is that they not only give you your cup of fries, but most times they like to fill the bottom of your bag with fries as well. Their fries are so good! So crispy or soft, but I usually feed the ones with lots of skin to my boyfriend (LOL). My burger wasn't that great though... It was a cheeseburger but I couldn't really taste the cheese at all. 5 stars for the fries, which are awesome and kick ass!! But only 3 stars for the burgers..it's cheap and huge for around $5 but the quality of it isn't all that! Toppings are usually slopped on together and it create a super soggy bun within 5 minutes of sitting down. Either get bigger buns or wick the grease off of the beef patties before assembling! Get napkins or else your hands will be a wet mess! Five Guys is usually very busy as well! Lunch, dinner, whenever. They always have people in here. For "fast food" it is somewhat pricey. A burger, fries, and drink will run you $10 easy. So the real question? In-N-Out or 5 Guys?? In a perfect world, I would have an In-N-Out burger (4 x 2) with 5 Guys fries. But at the end of the day and considering the price, I think I rather eat at In-N-Out! But no hate on 5 Guys at all. They hold their own and offer you more choices with toppings (i love jalepenos and mushrooms in my burgers!) and of course..It's fattening and tastes good. So no real complaints! haha read more
