Place didn't live up to the hype. My bacon cheese burger and fries were almost $10 (no drink) and wasn't anything special- it was actually kind of bland. Cajun fries were meh. Just tasted like regular fries with over-the- counter cajun seasoning sprinkled on top. Pro tip: the fries from Wing Stop next door are way better. I also found their burger naming convention to be kind of...dumb. A "regular" is actually a double patty and the "mini" is a single patty. I wonder how many people mistakenly ordered a double cheeseburger by mistake like I did. I'll stick to the double double at In-N-Out. read more

I'm going to shoot from the hip. Five Guys is overhyped! Whats wrong with this place? First off its expensive for how ordinary the burgers are. They don't have a meal option, so purchases are individual. $4-$5 for a burger, $2 for fries, $2 for a drink. Thats $8-$10 for a meal. There are many Free toppings to choose from, mainly you get your value from the amount of toppings you choose. I opted for a little bacon burger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos, regular fries, and a cup of water. Service took 5-10 mins. Food arrived in a brown bag. They have free peanuts but I don't go to a burger place for peanuts. The burger is wrapped in aluminium foil which with the heat probably contributes to the sogginess of the buns. The meat is unprocessed and fresh. It's actually quite plain underseasoned meat. The bacon was really dry and crispy with very little bacon flavor. Disappointing. Grilled onions and mushrooms also very plain. I was surprised the jalapenos were dry sliced jalapenos. I was hoping for the dark green wet kind. The jalapenos were not even hot. Which maybe I should have ordered some sort of sauce to drown the blandness. I threw some ketchup and finished the burger unsatisfied. One positive, is the fries are really good. I wish they weren't left in the fryer as long as they were but they were meaty and well seasoned. I really don't like that they serve everything in a brown paper bag even for those who eat there at the tables. It's just a personal peeve to see brown bags stuffed high in every trash can around Five Guys when they are not necessary. At the end of the day, I only went to this place because its close to where I live. A very short 5 min drive to get here. I don't see myself driving 5-10 miles out of my way for Five Guys. And living in California, I can't take In-N-Out for granted. read more

Meh. Not something to write home about. Came here when it first opened so my friend and I waited in a 15 minute long line. We ordered 2 burgers, fries, and 1 water and it cost over $10. For what it tasted, it wasn't worth that much. My burger bun got soggy pretty quick and I had to eat the rest of it using a fork. The bun wasn't that great, it reminded me of McDonalds buns. Similar to some of the other yelpers, I visited this place because of all the hype and promise of a great burger. I figure all of these people can't be wrong. First impressions while walking into the restaurant are this looks like a theme restaurant. For a burger place it just seemed like there were trying to hard to build an ambiance/identity for itself. The free peanuts remind of Texas Roadhouse. The colors used remind me of In and Out, which has better burgers and fries. I ordered the regular cheeseburger and fries for myself and a regular cheese burger and fries for my nephew. There was not a line but the food took some time to come out. My first bite of the burger and the first thing that came to mind was, "That's it." I have had better burgers in backyard bbq's using frozen patties and questionable buns. When eating the burger the bun pretty much fell apart instantly. Since this was my fist time here I didn't know if I should be eating it with a knife and fork. At the end of the meal my burger was nothing but a pile of condiments and patties. As for my nephew he didn't touch his burger or fries. He did enjoy his soda, glad Five Guys didn't put their own spin on the soft drinks. The fries were just terrible. Quantity does not mean quality and that has never been truer when referring to Five Guys fries. I have never tasted disappointment until I ate a Five Guys burger. Their fries also tasted of disappointment. For the price I have to pay, the burgers at Carl's Jr would have been better and fries would have also been better. Overpriced and tasteless food. Super hyped restaurant.. for good reason. The burgers are awesome. The bun is really soft and the meat is perfectly cooked and juicy. The fries are pretty awesome, a large = buttload of delicious fries. Its a bit pricey delicious none the less. Also FREE PEANUTS! I dont get it.. It must be an east coast thing. One can say that the food portion here are decent in size. The burgers can be ordered single or double patty with any toppings you want. For example, "all the way" (if I recall the term correctly): would include all their basic toppings. There are other toppings aside from their basic ones that you can add to the burger or put on the side. Their burger and it's topping combination is what they pride themselves on. 250000 different combinations! Their fries come in 2 flavor and sizes. Cajun and regular. Regular or large. Don't let the size fool you. They do put an additional 1-2 scoops into the bag after filling up your fries' cup. Flavor wise, the burgers are very moist (higher fat content in the patty) than many of the fast food burger joints. In my opinion, it feels like it could benefit from some sort of sauce. Overall the burgers are moist and can hold its own with simple topping. The fries are very simple. Regular fries are well... regular. Fried Idaho potato in peanut oil. The Cajun fries on the other hand are packed with Cajun seasoning. It very from time to time due to how much the employee sprinkle. The environment is active. You will be able to see how your burgers are made (could be good or bad). There are plenty of seats indoor and outdoor, but it does get pack from time to time. They also offer free peanuts if you decide to dine in. The service offer here is fair. I haven't run into any trouble yet... but they do help out with your order if you are ordering for the first time. Overall, the food is satisfying for its price. Don't expect any explosion of flavors out of their burgers because they are meant to be juicy and simple. read more

There's one thing I must tell all of you that haven't already tried it: Get the Cajun fries! The stuff comes in a brown paper bag, so you'll just have a hard time not taking your eyes off of all that visually tantalizing grease soaking through the bag. I'm usually a very healthy food person, but I had this new epiphone about eating fast food: When I eat fast food, "healthy" no longer has a meaning; go all out. "You know it's good when there's grease on the bag". The food is absolutely delicious, hands down. The last time I came here was my very first time. I've been here several times. Every time it's the same routine. The guy taking my order asks if I've been here before. No matter what I answer, he tells me how to order at Five Guys. First you pick your burger, then your toppings. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the way you order at EVERY BURGER PLACE IN AMERICA??? Anyway, the burgers are good. The beef is good, the buns are good, the (free) toppings are good. They're really good burgers overall. The fries (both the Cajun seasoned fries and regular) are good, but beware the portions are huge. The small size is enough for two people, maybe even three people. I don't think I can really compare them with In N Out since they're so different, but if I were only allowed to have one for the rest of my life, I'd have to choose In N Out. I understand how they're such a big deal back east where there's a serious lack of good burger chains. It's not so good for me to go out of my way to come to Five Guys, but it's good enough to keep me coming back. read more

After hearing a lot about Five Guys, some friends and I decided to find out if all the rave reviews were true. I ordered one veggie sandwich with cheese and one without, but the second one with barbecue sauce. I missed out on the fries, which I regret because many people have said that they are some of the best in the area. The first sandwich was extremely good. I had extra vegetables, mayo, and onions along with grilled mushrooms. Sadly, the portion size was not large. I finished the sandwich in about three minutes. I should have stopped at the first sandwich because I did not like the second one at all. The barbecue sauce was overwhelming and frankly, not tasty. The burgers here are quite messy, so use the napkins provided well. The second sandwich might have been the most messily-assembled sandwich that I have ever eaten. Many people compare Five Guys with In-N-Out. I don't see many similarities. For one, you can get 2 In-N-Out burgers for the price of one at Five Guys. Next, In-N-Out doesn't serve any bacon as far as I know. Finally, Five Guys doesn't sell milkshakes, which I found to be disappointing. That being said, the customer service at this restaurant is fantastic. The staff greet new customers as if they are old regulars, and inform customers of the free peanuts in the back of the store. However, I had to take off one star because of employee carelessness. One of my friends explicitly said not to put in mushrooms, but there were still a few pieces in the sandwich. The food was made quickly, and I understand that there is a tradeoff between speed and meticulousness; nevertheless, it is inexcusable. read more

My second visit tonight, first was ok, not tonight. I ordered a single patty bacon and cheese burger to go. They charged me for a double burger, the cook caught the mistake and I got refunded. Cool. then after I got home I discovered it was assembled with 2 patties and no mustard. Ok fine I dug out the pattie, but it was stuck together with cheese and condiments all over it. Walked in an hour before closing because after all, I am a terrible person. Expected to be greeted with dirty looks and indifference. Instead I was greeted like I was an old friend even though it was my first time in this store. I was being difficult the entire ordering process but they somehow kept up their cheery demeanor. I was impressed by their customer service as well as taste of food as well. The fries might have been over salted and the burger a little greasy but they were made with love so I overlooked that. The place was empty and after getting my food, I begin to understand why. First the plus side. The beef was pretty good and the potatoes were a bit over done but better than the lesser fast food places. Now the sad part. I kept the order simple lettuce, onion and tomato with mustard and ketchup. The lettuce and onion were cut in 1" squares so they immediately ended up in the wrqpper. They didn't bother with a slice of tomato. The bun may have been inferior bread or fried in bad oil. Why they would fry it at all could mean that it was a cheaper bun or just old oil. I ate the beef and some of the fries and threw the rest away. As far as a comparison between this overpriced mess and In and Out, the customer traffic and food speak for themselves. First time there today - walked in at about 12:30 this afternoon to a full house, but didn't wait long to order, or for a table. The place smells amazing, is appealing to the eye in it's own way (open kitchen atmosphere), and I was very pleased at their choice of music (I'll take classic rock over that Taylor Swift crap any day). The burger was great; very juicy and HUGE! Had the regular fries, which were above average. And the service was quick enough that we didn't fill up on the free peanuts, although I grabbed some for the road. Went there one time to try it out, hated it! The burgers go on the grill looking pretty good, but then they look like a war happened when on the bun. Also, there is only 1 1/2 burgers on the bun! Gross tasting and way too much money for the product. Then I went back one more time to try again, and it was the same. After all the hype, I decided to try Five Guys. And I have to say that I am not impressed. The burger was bland, the bun fell apart and the fries weren't great either. To top it off, it was a bit pricey for what I got. In their defense, it wasn't the worst burger I have ever had. And I do like that all the toppings, besides bacon and cheese, are free.
