5 guys is good. But I have just had the most awkard experience: Along with our burgers, my wife ordered a milkshake. I wasn't really paying attention so I was not aware what flavor it was (relevant). We get our order number, 99. A minute later i hear 98 and 99 being called. I assume our burgers are done so I approached the counter. Just then the burger person announces "96!" In a very different voice than what I just heard. Afer a second I realize that the shake-maker was the one calling 98 and 99! I then approach that counter. Despite two numbers being called I only see one shake.... the beginning of the trouble. I ask the clarifying question: "Is this 99?" The shake-maker quietly says something I can't understand. I request clarification. They replied equally quietly with what I beleive was the flavor of the shake but it was still a bit too quiet to understand. At the same time they are slowly and gently manipulating a receipt covered in whipped cream. I dont know the flavor, so even if I could undetstand, and get past the cream-paper-hand-dance, it wouldn't help. The questions about order number, quiet replies and whipped cream receipt jugling continue. I finally take the shake. It was the correct one, of course, this place is great! 15 minutes later I realized that he didn't know the number. It was covered in whipped cream! This review is not so much based on the food as it was with the experience we had with their staff. Our family of four came and ordered our burgers. The cashier seemed disjointed, and there was a long line. It seemed like he was getting stressed out over the line. I made sure to speak slowly because it was loud in there and the guy looked stressed. As we walked to get our drinks, I noticed the receipt only listed three burgers instead of four. I turned around, but the line was 10 people deep, and there was someone in the middle of ordering. So I walked up to the guy calling out the numbers and handing people there food and explained to him that the cashier didn't put our fourth burger on our order. His response? "Yeah, I don't have a register back here so you're gonna have to wait in the line." I get that he didn't have a register back there, but this is basic customer service 101 that could've easily been problem solved. This is poor training. This is not having people that can handle being busy. I wasn't looking for anything free, and this could've been easily solved with a "Sorry about that-Let me take that fourth burger and I will ring you up and bring you the receipt once things slow down." But "Yeah, I don't have a register back here so you're gonna have to wait in the line."????? we never got our fourth burger. The line kept growing. Someone who appeared to be wearing a black shirt different from others, perhaps a manager, overheard the conversation but chose not to interject. So two of us split our burger. This is our go to quick meal spot. 7 times out of 10 you'll get the perfect burger with melty cheese, juicy burger and crispy veggies. Other times you can pick the cold cheese off and the burger will be way over cooked and dry. Unfortunately this has been happening quite a lot lately so we've been going less and less. I was yesterday in the valley store and it took 24 minutes for me to receive my order which was wrong. I turned to the lady behind the bar who seem to be the manager and I said I have never waited this long for my order 24 minutes I went over and sat down and started to eat my dinner and then suddenly she came out from where she was cooking hamburgers and she pointed at me and she said get out. I tapped my chest and said me and she says yes you get out you're rude. I then called from the parking lot to try to get a manager at the north store and was told that it was the same owner, but upon mini phone calls, I finally reached out to corporate and corporate says they're going to watch the tape because the manager at the store said I was throwing F bombs and wouldn't tell me anymore including the managers name. I'm basing this review on a single visit. But sometimes that is all it takes. And since I don't see myself returning, I will choose to stand by my initial impression. This place just opened down the street. The windows are plastered with signs claiming that their burgers are the cheapest and best around. I would like the contest these claims right now. We paid over $18 for two burgers and two sodas. That didn't even include fries. And we waited at least 20 minutes to get our order after it was placed. The burger was tasty enough, but it was no better than a Whammy from Dicks, which costs about a buck or two. And considering I can get a bag of cheeseburgers (5 to be exact) and a tub of fries for $9.99 at Zips half a block away, I don't think there is any reason to patronize 5 Guys again. So I wish you luck, 5 Guys, but I won't be surprised if my fellow Valley residents will choose to pay less and go somewhere else. read more

To second what Tony D. said in his review... actually everything he said, I wanted to say. "Best bargain in town" the banner says inside the restaurant. Why the lineups, kittens? We drove past a few times and seeing the place packed made us wonder if maybe Five Guys did live up to its 'best burgers EVER' billing. A late afternoon lunch meant a cruise past and the lineup was only a handful of people deep. So we stopped in. The tables were all populated but that's OK, because we were hauling ass out of there and heading for home anyway. Warning No. 1: It's loud in there. Damn loud. The line cooks are always yelling something and, frankly, it's an assault to the ears. I'm sure they're trying to achieve some kind of kitschy New York ambience but it's lost on me. Warning No. 2: Listen to your boyfriend when he says 'the fries are really big, we don't need two orders.' Dammit. But I wanted Cajun-spiced. And he didn't. In any case, both orders were excessively greasy and mine were over-over-spiced. Warning No. 3: These burgers ain't nothin' special. Especially for the price. They're average. The boyfriend says they don't hold a candle to In N Out and since I've never been to California, I have to trust his judgment on that one. (His judgment can't be all that bad, right? So I wanted to try five guys for the 1st time. Ordered online, got inside to pick up and the employees were really nice. I asked for ranch for which they said they don't carry it. So I said well what do you have to dip my fries in. They said they only carry ketchup. How can you sell fries and not have some kind of sauce other than ketchup. Just plain sad. My first experience with Five Guys was at one that opened about a year ago in California and it was far from a good experience. The burger was greasy and soggy and the fries were crap. I decided to give it another chance at their restaurant in Spokane Valley. I'm not sure if the staff at this location is just much more proficient at making burgers or what, but I enjoyed my burger a lot more this time around. It tasted like there was just more effort in putting my burger together this time around. The fries were still crap and the food is still WAY over priced for what it is. I let out an audible "PSH!" when I read one of the reviews on the wall of the restaurant claiming "best bang for your buck".....right.... Though this recent experience was a LOT better than my first, I'm still not a huge fan of Five Guys. Being from California, I'm a huge In n' Out fan and will remain that way. read more

Don't go alone. The "little" fries are enough to serve two people. A "really little" size would be great. The burger has a very good flavor; they get four stars rather than five here because of the toppings: they are tasty and there's a wide variety, but if you get a burger made "all the way" the bun will disintegrate halfway through your meal from all the moisture they loaded you up with. read more

I've eaten at Five Guys in other states and cities, and I've always had a good experience. I ordered my food along with a chocolate milkshake. Staff were friendly and courteous until my food came. I got my food and the gal said I needed to wait for my shake. After about 10 minutes I was about halfway done with my meal. The guy at the milkshake area called my number to come get my shake. He had a broken cup and the contents were oozing out the side, stating that they're having some technical difficulties. He asked was okay to give me the cup if he put another cup over it, and I told him no because I didn't want it leaking all over my vehicle. He proceeded to get angry and stomped away to the back room and disappeared. He then came back out and I asked him if I could just get a Coke instead because my food was just about gone. He replied that he's doing the best he can that they were having technical difficulties with the machine and it would just be a few more minutes. I told him it's not that big of a deal I just wanted to get a Coke instead of the shake so that I could finish my meal and have something to drink. He grabbed the cup and handed it to me and said fine. As I turned to walk away I heard him mumble "asshole". I didn't bother confronting him on it as he was already stressed out over the milkshake machine giving him problems. I paid almost $5 for a shake and agreed to just take a $1.99 Coke in its place without asking for any kind of a refund and got called an asshole in the process. Not Cool read more

I like Five Guys, the food is great. The amount of customization available for your burger is awesome. The shakes are so good, and can be customized almost as much as the burgers can, I love them. I just wish they weren't quite so expensive. For just a burger place, it's rather pricey; you don't get a lot of bang for your buck. We loved this place! My husband and I both ordered the bacon burger. It was huge! It had two patties, along with all of the other toppings. If you have a small appetite, you will want to order the half bacon burger. A bonus is that they don't charge extra for toppings. In addition, the fries were excellent! I ordered the small and my husband ordered the medium and they dumped more in the bag so we had plenty. The only negative is the price. It is expensive but I imagine they charge more so that they can say that toppings are "free." We will definitely return regardless of the cost! read more

So the first time I tried Five Guys, I didn't like it. Couldn't understand what the hype was. Maybe I got the wrong type of burger, I got a standard one with mushrooms. The shrooms seemed canned and generally speaking I just didn't like it. My mom constantly raves about how Five Guys is her fave. Maybe it's better in Cali where she is from, who knows. So after a few years, and her prompting I tried it again. This time we got the double bacon burger and yup! Love it!! Wish there was one closer to me on the Hill but apparently, there was one and they closed :( so whenever we are in the area of one we must have! The burger patties get such a nice almost crusty sear (Maillard reaction), but still so juicy. The bacon is nice and crisp not soggy. If you've tried this place in the past like me and maybe chose the wrong thing, try it again! It is a little pricy for a burger, but ugh so good! The fries are the best! Wait in line 7-8 min to exchange for new burger without ketchup. New burger 10 min later-buns not toasted, which is what made it special and extra good. Not doing it again.
