I was really hoping for a nice meal, seeing as how the restaurant's overall rating was fairly high. First, we had zero issues with the Five Spice waitstaff. They were all kind, polite, and the service was great, so absolutely no complaints there. However, one of the sushi chefs was rather strange. I glanced over in the direction of the sushi prep area because it felt like someone was watching us as my wife and I were chatting. Sure enough, the chef was glaring at us with an odd scowl on his face, and it was kind of creepy, to be honest. I tired to ignore him, but I caught him glaring again a few minutes later. I couldn't figure out what his problem was, but I never said anything to anyone about him. Perhaps I should have. After a little while, my wife received her banh mi. We are no strangers to banh mis, and this was definitely not a great one. It was rather dry, and the combined flavors were definitely not on point. The bread used was just okay, almost stale. She was nearly done eating the sandwich by the time the sushi rolls we ordered arrived to the table. We weren't in a huge hurry but it wasn't very busy inside, yet the kitchen was fairly prompt and the sushi chefs were definitely not. Finally, our rolls came, and this is where things really went south. The sushi was rather gross. The flavors were way off; the fish didn't taste all that fresh or even of good quality. The sauces used (and toppings) seemed to serve only as a cover-up, not as a flavor enhancement. The tastes were way under par from similar rolls ordered at *good* sushi establishments. Look, I really hate to say bad things about a restaurant. The grilled pork inside the banh mi wasn't totally bad - not the best I've had at a Vietnamese restaurant, but okay. So I completely acknowledge that the more traditional items we didn't try might have been great, but I can only comment on what we experienced. And that experience was far from satisfactory. At the end of the day, if you really appreciate good, quality sushi, look elsewhere. If you're in the mood for Vietnamese cuisine, then maybe give them a try. Even though the banh mi wasn't all that good, maybe you'll luck out with any one of the hot dishes they offer. I'd really like to think so. After all, they have been getting a lot of good reviews so they can't be all bad, right? read more

I didn't feel like making dinner tonight so this place looked promising. I ordered the spicy octopus, pork banh mi, and a passion fruit boba smoothie. The spicy octopus was on point 10/10, the octopus portion was pretty good. I've been to other places and the portions are very small and pricey. The pork on the banh mi was tender and tasted great. HOWEVER, there was barely any pork in it. I took a good 2-3 bites and it was just bread and veggies. I would order it again but only if they'd be willing to add more pork to it. Went by this afternoon and unfortunately my experience wasn't what I had hoped for. The Sushi chef is the first person you see, he looks at you but doesn't say Hello or Goodbye and he looks angry to be there. Driving down to Homestead at least once a month made me get creative on killing time not being in traffic while heading back north. Luckily through a referral I stopped in and so glad I did. Located in the corner in a strip mall off Campbell is a newly decorated restaurant with large TVs airing the game(s). We chose to sit in the back in a booth and were immediately given menus. At our first glance we were relieved they had everything we wanted on the menu so we were ready! Appetizer: Chicken Wings. Yes, was in the mood and glad we ordered. A touch of spice and a little bit of sweet these wings were delicious. Main: Pho. Can't come here and not get this. The broth was absolutely amazing. It felt like someone had been cooking this for hours. Light, but full of flavor. We chose the rare beef, and with the noodles and veggies this made for a perfect sitting. Get that spicy sauce that's on the table but watch it. It's caliente! Dessert: Sure, why not. A tempura cheesecake with ice cream is a must get. Been here twice already and love it. Rating: 3.5 10/21/2019 Five Spice is new and may well be the only Vietnamese+Sushi+boba joint in Homestead. That itself is a huge undertaking. Being bff to a the coolest Viet girl, I am very familiar with Viet cuisine, so we were both super excited that we have a new place to try pho. It's located right on Campbell Drive on a very busy strip mall. Parking is often scarce specially during lunch times, weekends, or when the banquet hall next door is hosting an event. But today, after a visit to the urgent care next door, I didn't have to go on a mission to find parking. I ordered take out , because after being under the weather all weekend, pho is just what the doctor ordered. RESTAURANT: The restaurant is housed at the corner of the strip mall. It's smaller than I anticipated but very clean. The furniture is not fancy and the decor is minimal but what they have are massive flat screen TVs on every wall available. They have a nice sushi bar that seats about 8. And although I did not dine in, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the restroom was immaculately clean! It smelled like heaven, well stocked, and the flush works. I mean you don't see restrooms like this anymore. SERVICE: As I beat the lunch time rush, the restaurant was nice and calm. I ordered take with a nice young man. He was ringing people up and waiting on them and busing the tables. Then, as I sit on the bar for my food, another young man acknowledged me which was nice. My order came out in less than 15 minutes! FOOD: I ordered the Five Spice Pho, golden pancake and a frozen taro boba. When I got home, I assembled everything as they would in the restaurant. First, the Pho with the different kinds of meats: meatballs, beef, pork tendons, tripe etc. I drank the broth right off the quart size container and it was on poiiiint!!! The explosion of flavors from the hours and hours of simmering the meat and veggies together was happening in my mouth, instantly making me feel better. The whole dish itself could've included more noodles and meat base on the price point if this dish. Then, the golden pancake! Let me just say that I am quite obsess with this dish. It's usually an appetizer because it's meant to be shared. Their pancake was huge and golden indeed. Where they fell short was the stuffing. The bean sprouts and some shrimp all kinds concentrated in the middle leaving a huge space of nothingness along the fan of of pancake. They provided the usual herbage but I was a bit disappointed when I learned that I was only able to make three wraps out of the three Romaine lettuce leaf they provided which is a problem when you share it with several people. I was used to a half a head of an ice berg lettuce (which with its bowl shape makes it easier to make a wrap) with strings of carrots and tomatoes so needless to say I found this dish a bit lacking for the price point. The dipping sauce was nice and sweet but a bit on the salty side which could be attributable to me just scarfing it down without stirring it first. Now for the boba. The taro boba came on a tall cup, it's creamy, it's smooth, it doesn't taste artificial or powdery and the boba was chewy as it should be. It was delicious! And it beat the heat outside for sure! Overall, this first visit was a pleasant one. I'll definitely come back and dine in to try some of the other popular fares. I'll definitely pop in for more boba! My coworker let me know this place had opened. So finally a great Pho and sushi spot close to home. We had to go check this out and with all this bipolar weather in Miami it was the perfect evening for some pho. I tried looking online for the number and menu with no help so we just drove over. This place was packed, every table was taken and people were still coming in. I'll give them a break because it was only their second night of opening so I knew we would have to wait. I don't think they were prepared for the boatloads of people so the servers were running around from the kitchen to the tables to the hostess stand. While I waited for all this commotion to die down I looked at the menu. They have some really great menu options for both the Vietnamese and sushi options. They can definitely count me in as a repeat customer off the menu alone. We had our hearts stuck on the pho and we usually always have the mixed or special with 2 different meats, tripe, tendons, beef balls, etc. so we stuck to that, ordered some taro boba tea, and crispy pork rolls. Now to wait..... We waited over 20 minutes for out to go order. It was a little annoying BUT I completely understood as their just starting off so they just need to find a little more organization but they'll get it. And everytime a server would pass by they would apologize for the wait. I was in no rush so I just sat at the sushi bar and loved watching the sushi chefs bringing orders to life and they had a flatscreen playing some international food show so I wasn't bored. Listen I know grand openings can be hectic so I don't blame them and I'm so happy to see this business doing so well already. This is a restaurant that was definitely needed in this neighborhood. We finally got our food and they even threw in an extra taro tea. We drank it all before even making it home, so refreshing and delish! Now the pho was freaking perfect. They didn't skip out on any of the extras and was a great proportion of all the fillings. We devoured as much as we could before realizing we were slowly going into a food coma. We took a 15 minute break so the pho wouldn't defeat us, LOL. We took bites if the crispy pork roll with that perfectly complimented sauce. We enjoyed it all but were so stuffed. Good thing is you can definitely have leftovers like we plan on doing. ha ha ha. First time here.... Walking in smelled so delicious. The layout is quite relaxing and spacious. There are 3 televisions. Two are located in the back. And one is in front by their sushi bar. They give you the option to sit anywhere. Theres no wait at all. But then again, it is lunch time. As an appetizer we ordered their Tuna Tataki. Delicious thin slices of tuna, sheared, and sone sort of sauce. Topped with scallions, sesame seeds and some reddish. I ordered their Vietnamese Sub. Pork, pickled carrots, reddish, cilantro, and mayo. I'm sure I'm forgetting other things. This was light yet full of flavor. The bread was toasted on the outside but soft inside. The pork is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. And I mean I love the smell of fresh cilantro and the taste. So this was just perfect. My sister ordered the Mexican roll. Tempura shrimp, jalapeno, avocado and cream cheese. And what can I say? This was amazing. It isnt too spicy. Some may even say it isnt spicy at all. All those flavors came together so beautifully. I got their Boba Thai Tea to drink and well its may favorite drink so I'm happy. From the time it took to wait for our waiter and order...no more than 3 mins. When we ordered our appetizer and food, received our meal, and ate....it took exactly 20 mins. How amazing is that!!!! Perfect if you're on a lunch break and work close by. I ordered pho for take out and specifically told them to not include raw meat since I was staying at a hotel. When I got back to eat at my hotel, 90% of the meat was raw and consisted mainly of fat. I tried to microwave the meat but it still remained raw. Finally, I called them to either deliver another bowl or refund me the money but the manager declined any kind of service. TL;DR : Amazing food with great prices and amazing quality. 10/10 will go again Coming from the cultural center in Atlanta, my standards for Asian cuisines is pretty high. My favorite region is Vietnam due to their attention to flavor profiles and freshness of ingredients. So, having this gem in my hometown was a nice surprise so I came in with my parents to check it out. Goodness was it worth! I'll review by the dish: Pho Broth - I can tell a lot about a Vietnamese restaurant by their broth because of the labor of love this dish is. For those not familiar with this soup, the broth is transparent and takes hours to make. The base is a bone broth and onions, ginger, garlic, peppers, and spices (star anise, black pepper, cinnamon, and sea salt) toasted together and boiled for hours. This is an 11/10 for me. Great flavor, great umami, amazing depth of flavor and it came to the table piping hot. The veggies that come with it were crisp and fresh, adding a great texture to each bite as well Fried Egg Rolls - served with pickled carrots and fish sauce, these egg rolls were delicious. Crisp outside and juicy inside - they are filled with pork and shrimp and mushrooms and carrots, with a few vermicelli noodles for structure. A great appetizer if there are multiple people as they each come to the table cut in half (also helps cool them down for eating) Spicy Conch Salad - a beautiful dish with a colorful presentation. This has a decent kick to it so beware if spice isn't your thing. It was very fresh and served cold. The C1 Chicken Rice dish - this was super delicious. They use chicken thighs that have been marinated in a traditional sweet sauce. Cooked to order so it takes a bit to come out but it is more than worth the wait. The rice and salad come standard but you can add a fried egg (my personal favorite) or choose the combo that includes an egg and shredded pork skin. The C3 Pork Chop Rice Dish - two pork chops, rice, and the salad come standard here as well. The same marinade is used on these as the chicken - that said, it really tenderizes the pork. Bahn Mi - A pleasant surprise with this one. The bread was warm with a crispy outside and fluffy inside. Really great combination of flavors and at $5 it cannot be beat! Overall, this is a great location with amazing potential. The only con we experienced was the timing of food arriving. First came the broths, the the egg rolls and conch salad, followed by the rice dishes. Hopefully with time, the timings get better :) read more

So it was our first time coming to this restaurant and I got to say our experience was so perfect. The service was absolutely great. We had two servers and both were so excellent. And we ordered the spring rolls, and they were super fresh and delicious. And ordered 3 sushi rolls being 1 volcano roll and 2 rising sun roll. Although I had to say the wait time was a bit long but I'll take it and was totally worth the wait because I know my rolls were cooked and rolled fresh.Over all great experience and would definitely be going back. This place is a nice little hidden gem. It is the only Vietnamese restaurant in the homestead area that I know of. We started coming here a few years back right when they opened because we are Pho fans . The food here is great and authentic. Always fresh and delicious. The staff is always polite and welcoming.
