Horrible customer service. Everywhere this business advertises says it's open on Saturday. I was sent here by my insurance and when I got there, it was closed. I called the number and spoke to a phone service that told me to wait till Monday. I called my insurance and they called the companies phone service and stated that because they advertise with State Farm as being open, that they could not refuse me service based on their contract they have and had to accept me on an emergency basis. I waited almost two hours to be told by the phone service that the employee who is suppose to come accept my vehicle was not going to come and basically didn't care that the contract with State Farm wasn't being held up and told me to come on Monday. I would never come here for any services or suggest this place. If they can't even keep to their contract with insurance companies, how can they be trusted to uphold any standard. read more

Got an insurance inspection done at this location. Friendly staff who seems very knowledgeable. However, was not able to leave my car there for repairs until parts came in (in order to get a rental). Was turned away upon return due no available openings for 2 weeks. Friendly staff but sadly need to wait 2 weeks in order to drop your vehicle off due to no "openings". If you are willing to wait a few weeks to bring your vehicle here this is your place! read more

This is my second time I go to this place that was recommended by State Farm. Both time were a bad outcome. This last time they were supposed to repair a bumper and color match the color, a pearl white. Picked up the car and it did not match. I took the car back and initially it was a bit frustrating because the manager had to see it before we proceeded....but the manager agreed and took it back to repaint. My daughter then picked it up for the second time around and honestly, seems like they didn't do anything to the car, still doesn't match. Not even sure they repainted it. Obviously their painter has no color matching skills. I am again calling State Farm and they have decided to send me elsewhere for the 3rd time. This was seriously such an unpleasant experience both times, I'm not sure how they are still in business. My longtime friend is also my insurance agent and have expressed my feeling to her, says it's not her first bad experience with them. I doubt she will be referring her clients there any longer. If you read any of my other reviews, you may detect not only that I will regularly resort to sarcasm, ridicule and outright shame when I'm dissatisfied with the service or expected outcome. After all, expectations are resentments under construction (or so I've come to learn...). *Unfortunately, the 5-Star Rating that hovers above the critique squarely exhibits what manner of review is developing here. Yeah, they rock...so what?!? I had already been to three other shops for estimates prior to attending to this scheduled appointment (though I suspect they would have no way of knowing that fact). The spectacularly clean and orderly entrance to the counter led to a very friendly 'welcome,-how-can-I-help-you' smile with a genuine level of apparent interest in the fact that I wouold visit their place of business (that' a 'highly inviting customer service environment for those of you not familiar with the technique)! I explained the dilemma that this repair would NOT be covered by insurance so the cost would be all out-of-pocket. I was primarily interested in getting an estimate and discussing options to keep the repair economical. Most folks might evehn recommend that the car should have just been replaced but they have no appreciation for what it took for me to obtain a second of these beauties and if you want to criticize my taste in cars, please leave your One-Star rating and be on your way! Your opinion is irrelevant to me (just as I suspect this one would be to you, but I digress)... They offered an estimate that was almost $500 (yes, that is FIVE HUNDRED) dollars less than the next-nearest estimate AND they gave a general time estimate for the repair (with marginal equivocation to account for any 'unforseen damages' which made perfect sense). On a related note, this repair carried the same warranty that I would get with an insurance company AND the parts would all be OEM (unless otherwise requested...I had custom billet grills and you know, love my car, remember?). I was impressed enough to leave a deposit for parts and schedule the next convenient appointment for drop-off. 'Convenient' being the operative word because they worked around MY schedule AND made it completely easy to do so while keeping the length of repair estimate unchanged. Flash forward to car drop-off. They were ready and there was little delay or effort required on my part at drop-off. A responsible inspection and discussion followed by some mechanical service recommendations and a signature on the repair request and away I went. Every day thereafter, I received AT LEAST one text message to give me a status update and expected delivery/pick-up date. When an additional part was needed (which I suspected so it wasn't a 'surprise' extra cost part) they not only had the best price for the part but it resulted in ZERO delays in the progress of the repair! I almost forgot to menion that I was NOT pressured for a decision immediately and actually took almost an entire business day to research costs, shipping and cost effectiveness...and these folks STILL had the best result! Did I mention something earlier about expectations leading to resentments? Needless to say, the folks at Fix Auto Downey certainly set the stage of expectation fairly high (and I truly hope this is reflective of ALL Fix Auto sites, but I am EXCLUSIVELY heaping praise on the folks in Downey so, this is a specific endorsement here and all those attempting to garner favor by name associatioin need to ease up with some slack for a minute). I was informed that the repair was to be completed on time and the total for the repair was identicial to the re,maining balance of the estimate (minus the deposit for parts, of course). How did the car look? Quite honestly, BETTER than it has since I took ownership! I bought the Yodamobile used (BEFORE it 'transformed' into the preferred intracontinental transportation unit dedicated to the spirit of the Greatest Jedi Master), and it was well-cared for but showed some signs of age and weathering. To quote Fernando (and age-old SNL character, right Billy Crystal?): it looked MAH-ve-lous! Exceptional seamlines, not a visible scratch, no detectable indication of what had been repaired. If you hadn't known the car had been in a collision (or what damage resulted from being side-swiped by a road-rager at 65 mph on the 405 North), I would defy you to identify the area of damage! My car was beautiful, but not beautiful AGAIN...MORE BEAUTIFUL than it has looked! All of it, by the way, done WITHIN the budget established at the time of estimate! Since I received by 'automotive collector's car' from Fix Auto in Downey, not only has all of the repair stood up to the current SoCal 'punishing' weather, but they have sent frequent inquiries to make sure I continued to be satisfied with the repair work! That does it...any future auto body work...Fix Auto in Downey is my #1 'go-to'! read more

This review is for the customer service and not the actual body work because I did not end up leaving my car here for repairs. About a year and a half ago I came here because it was on the list of certified shops in my insurance and needed an estimate for hit and run quarter panel damage on my S2000. I should note that I obtained this was with minor damage on the exact same spot I was hit on. With that said, once the adjustor guy (Carlos?) Anyway, he quickly began questioning me in a strange way and insinuating that I was doing something sneaky. I clarified and advised him that even if there already was damage there prior, it was irrelevant because it occurred in the same spot. Is a shop going to only partially fix a dent on top of the dent in the exact same spot? He proceeded to tell me I wasn't going to have my car fixed because of his suspicion. I'm leaving out details of the offensive things he said to me but he felt the right to try and lecture me until I put an end to that disrespect and left. Couple weeks later my check was written and my car was fixed thanks to my insurance. Thanks a lot guy. Won't be coming here if they treat potential customers this way. Lost business. These folks are professional, fair, courteous and concerned. The vehicle was ready when they said it would be and the amount of time to replace the rear bumper and muffler took 10 days, a much shorter period than I'd previously experienced for body work. Because someone else's insurance company was paying, I was told by the ins company that I'd be responsible for the cost of the rental car if my vehicle sat idle in the shop. (Illegal I think but that's beside the point.) However, Fix Auto (aka Little John's) was reasonable in comparison to other body shops and the insurance company paid for the rental without comment. Additionally, I received emails from Fix Auto each morning giving me status updates. A few days after I retrieved my repaired vehicle, I received a warranty in the mail on the repair work. I was sooooo much happier than when I took my car to Penske previously and waited over three weeks for minor body work while receiving no communication except empty promises as to when the car would be ready when I initiated calls. Worst customer service ever. If you are a military Veteran do not go to Fix Auto. Workmanship is poor as well. I understand they have polices and procedures working with insurance companies. AJ the supervisor was good at explaining them. However I told them my alignment is off and they disagreed. I understand wear and tear but I strongly believe it was off due to the accident. I had to call my USAA insurance and have them authorize the alignment and it was no problem for USAA to do that. I did not ask Fix Auto to do a fraudulent claim but they could of asked USAA according to their policies. The issues do not stop here. I picked up the car at night could not see it well. Started it up and it was a weak turnover. Drove it home and parked it for three days since I had an intrusive surgical procedure. When I was cleared to drive on the third day since I picked it up, battery had power but not enough to turn over the engine. I then looked over the vehicle during the morning hours. Frustrated that it would not start. I saw the rear bumper , the areas that got fixed due to a rear ended accident, was not aligned with the fender. Also the body clean up was unsatisfactory. I called them and was irritated with their responses not offering solutions besides bring the car in. Ok my car is not starting so I cannot do that. Wanted a tow truck to come get my vehicle, but not their policy to do so since it may of been a maintenance issue. I believe their poor workmanship and lack of attention to detail left a light on during the service work reducing the battery power. Sean a customer representative got frustrated with me and generalized my military service does not equate to preferential services. Degrading my military service saying that people should not feel sorry for Veterans. The intent was to convey my humbleness of serving people like him so he can maintain his way of life. That I will no longer allow people to take advantage of me. Fix Auto is not a Veteran friendly and has poor workmanship that I will not even bring my car back there to fix what they did not do correctly. read more

I was on my way from Pasadena and going down the 605 and I decided to stop by and ask for a quote on painting my van. I had used this company 10 years before and they did a good job. So I thought I would stop in and ask for a quote as long as I was in the area. To my suprise the receptionist said they only work by appointment and that I had to drive home and call to schedule an appointment and then drive back. Update. I had spoken with the "manager" AJ and he only made excuses for his employees, and laughed when I explained what all happened. He even said he didn't want to work on my vehicle since I was already unhappy but didn't offer to do anything to make the situation better and never once apologized. He said I was welcome to go somewhere else for my repairs. That's exactly what I did and am very happy with the shop I went to. The shop I ended up going to actually treated me with respect and care and concern for making sure my vehicle is restored to how it was before the accident. I wish I never wasted my time going to Fix Auto to begin with. Any manager or business willing to let potential customers walk without trying to earn their business and who does not want to truly fix their customers vehicles is pretty shady in my opinion.
