I first went to FIX Salon close to the time it opened in 2009, mostly because it was near my house in South Park. I've been going back ever since! I keep my hair short, but like to change it up with different styles, so I get my hair cut frequently. I often have a hard time articulating what I want. I like my hair a little on the edgy side and I feel like other stylists have second guessed what I ask for. Luna was fantastic at asking me the right questions and brainstorming new styles with me. She even puts up with me walking in and just asking for "something new." Luna also understood when I needed something more conservative for interviewing. Not only have I been going there for the last three years, but I've sent practically everyone I know. Both men and women, young and older people all seem to have had good experiences. Very happy I found this place on Yelp. When I called, Luna called right back and got me the earliest appointment on the day I wanted which was very convenient. Most places it seems like I have to haggle for a good time and usually fail. Parking is a bit interesting, but otherwise an easy place to find. Luna was very pleasant, didn't seem rushed and gave me a very personalized dye and cut with great advice about which products to use for my frizzy hair. She only looked at the pictures on my laptop for a moment and gave me the perfect cut. Another thing I was impressed with was after she dyed my hair a lighter color, she immediately offered to dye my eyebrows which honestly no other salon has done for me before. I had an overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great cut or color (or both). Luna's prices are very cheap - $85 for color for hair and brows, cut, wash and style - but the quality and personalized service is better than I've experienced at salons that charge double and take twice as long. read more

Mary cuts my hair dry, by my request, and uses non-toxic and low-scent products on my hair, which she had available. My four star rating for this little, two station salon is not for it's scenic location or gorgeous decor... it's for Luna giving me a very good hair cut and color while not spending way too much! She is very nice, easy going and professional. I love going to this salon because of it's relaxed, casual atmosphere and I can get in and out of there without feeling like I am spending all day! (*I have been to several upscale salons with personal assistants, complimentary wine and/or hand massage, etc., and have had not so great cuts/color/experience/paid wayyyy too much). Exhausting! ;) So, I find this little low key salon a breath of fresh air with normal, nice people and fair prices. I originally found Fix Salon right here on Yelp. I had typed in inexpensive highlights in the search bar and Fix Salon was one of the first to come up. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a cheap person, but at the same time I can't afford $200 highlights & trim (and that's w/o tip) once a month in this economy. So I called and made an appointment (even though Fix Salon is on the other side of town from me). I figured I would try it once and if all went well, I would be a repeat customer. When I first met Luna (owner) she was just sooooo easy to talk to and she knew exactly what I wanted. Not only was she superhuman fast, but she was superhero talented!!! She took the time to add extra (magic) to my hair to bring it back to a healthy state and she didn't charge extra for these things, because she truly cares about the health of her clients hair. I walked out of there knowing that there is no way in this world that I will go anywhere else!!! She's a Hair RockStar as far as I'm concerned, and she deserves nothing less than 5 stars on here! And because she is not charging you highway robbery fees to make you look and feel beautiful, I suggest going above and beyond in the gratuity department. It's rare to find someone as talented and genuinely kind in San Diego that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg just to have your hair done. Luna if you read this ... My 1st haircut w/Luna turned out great, but my 2nd cut, which was just supposed to be a trim, was a disaster! Im sure she knew she butchered it because the $35 price I paid previously was drastically slashed (kind of like my hair) to $25! I would've appreciated it if she had at least acknowledged the hack job, but not so much as a, "sorry about that". Not only was it way too short, but completely choppy and uneven on the sides, which is hard to camouflage w/hair this short! My 1st day back at work i got the, "oh, you got your hair cut" comment more times than I care to admit! Luckily, my boyfriend thinks i have cute ears because w/hair this short my ears are 100% the center of attention:( Wow, it just dawned on me that she cut my hair dry the 2nd time too, which i thought was weird, but I didn't question since I figured she knew what she was doing. ok so let me start by saying i should have written this review ages ago and i'm sorry i haven't until now..... Luna is the best! She has been doing my hair for years now and I love her. When i first came to her I had horribly damaged hair. I had been blonde, then dyed it dark dark red and decided I wanted to go back to blonde.....and she not only was able to do that, but did it amazingly and has brought my hair back to life. Lets just say, I am picky and finicky and she totally puts up with me! and i love her more for that. I will also say that she had been suggesting ideas to me about what color blonde to do or things to try for at least a year and me being the stubborn girl that i am always said no no i dont want change...well i finally let her do what she had been suggesting and lets just say i should have listened to her years ago! haha. She knows what she is doing and knows what REALLY looks the best on you. I love my hair now more than before and have her to thank.. I had been going to the same hair lady for many, many, many years so it seemed logical that, since I trusted her so implicitly, I should get my hair done with her for my wedding. Mistake does not even begin to describe how I feel about that decision. I parted ways with this lady and found myself in haircut purgatory wondering aimlessly through the fog of choices flitting around the internet until I came upon Luna and Fix Salon. I made an appointment and was amazed at the proximity of her location in relation to my home. I walked there in 2 minutes and she took off almost 10 inches from my tired scalp. I was her first appointment for the day, and my boyfriend was even offered Starbucks as he waited for me. I went in for a simple hair cut, just a trim and some layers, and I really liked how it turned out. If you are in need of some hair TLC, don't go anywhere else but to FIX Salon. Luna is the best and she actually cares about the condition of her clients hair. After using a chemical straighter on my hair, I went to a stylist who highlighted my hair... I'm lucky it didn't break off. I went to Luna with air dried hair that looked and felt like straw. In one cut session she gave me an amazing style with beautiful layers, and gave me tips and suggestions for repairing the damage that had been done by myself and stylists who didn't care about anything but money. Big, huge plus: She suggested Argan oil to repair the structure of my hair (which is naturally wavy, but after the straighting process, just fried straw frizz) and it is working! I bought a small bottle from Sally's Beauty Supply for $10, added a couple drops to my shampoo and use it on my damp hair. My hair is soft and beautiful now, even when it air dries. I called an hour before she closed in the off chance she'd have an opening for a regular women's cut. She offered to take me just minutes before she closed, which was so nice. It was quick but exactly what I wanted. She evened out my lob and gave me layers so I could grow it out longer without it being an awkward long A-line. It was $45 for the cut which was a bit more than I expected, but I tipped a little extra because she took me so late and she did an awesome job. 4 stars just because the price was a tad steep for what I asked for, and she didn't style. I absolutely Love Luna! She has been doing my hair for 10 yrs now! I live in northern Cal now but make it down to SD frequently and always visit Luna at Fix when I do. She is the only person I trust to do anything other than a simple cut. I literally just say "do whatever you think is cute" and she never disappoints. I just got my color and hair cut yesterday by Luna. She is very easy going and she made me feel comfortable. My color was great, it made my hair look so much shinier, and this is before the hair cut. I had damaged ends so she took time to make sure she trimmed them. I wanted a side-swept bangs and more layers all over for more texture. I brought some pics and she really did a great job!! I'm so happy with my hair cut! I was a believer of you pay what you get as far as getting a hair cut, but she definitely changed my mind. I used to pay twice as much for the same service. It was $90 for color and cut, and FYI my hair is very long (middle of my back). She does everything by herself now, but she is moving to a bigger place nearby at the end of this year so she doesn't have to.
