As you enter, straight ahead is that cashier/ordering area, to the right is the fountain drink area as well as condiments for your bowls and plates and to the left side is a small area for inside dining. My daughter ordered their beef bulgogi plate with veggies, white rice and side of kimchi, while I ordered their Beef Bulgogi bowl with brown rice and veggies. The bulgogi beef was flavorful and tender. To put a bit more flavor, we went to the condiment area and got some of their "magic sauce" which is basically a teriyaki sauce and went well with their beef bulgogi. Portions were great. Dining area was clean and well kept, employee was friendly and didn't rush us and service was quick. There is a private lot for this little strip mall area though parking can be a bit challenging. We are fans of this place. Imagine our disappointment (sad face) when we learned that the one in Las Vegas didn't survive Covid-19 (maybe it was also the location that did not help). The boy and I got the half & half mini and hubby got the regular bowl. Oh my gosh. It was so good. The meat was cooked perfectly. The rice ratio was good. The trick is not dousing it with so much sauce. A little bit goes a long way. (Hubby learned that the hard way, when we visited the one in San Diego.) I brought pickled jalapenos because I was not wasting it. It's the perfect combo. Chili sauce would be good too. (The only thing better was to eat there twice, but we had other plans.) This is my first time in a physical restaurant for this place. My bestfriends always eat at this place in The Bay so they brought it to me once they found it in San Diego and brought me some. I believe I tried the rice, veggies, and beef bowl. I thought it was delicious and not too bad of a price. The veggies are good and the rice is nice and soft. For this particular restaurant, the place was very clean and the guy working the register was very courteous and amiable. I like that they have different sauces you can put on your food and they are now offering avocado. If I could find this close to San Marcos, I'd probably go weekly. read more

I am all about keeping things simple when it comes to food. I would prefer a restaurant to master a few options rather than offer a large selection of mediocrity. The Flame Broiler specializes in rice bowls, and they simply do it better than anyone else. The setup is similar to many other restaurant chains. All you need to do is pick your protein, add veggies (or not), and select brown or white rice. Sounds easy -right? The hardest choice you will need to make is figuring how much of their (appropriately named) magic sauce that you would like to consume. On its own, the beef and chicken are grilled to perfection, the veggies are blanched and tender, and the rice is what you would expect Calrose rice to taste like. However, when you toss in a boat load of their magic (teriyaki) sauce over the top- something amazing happens. The magic sauce transforms a "normal" (albeit good) rice bowl into a can't-miss attraction. Since it was my first time here, I tried the half and half bowl (chicken and beef) with veggies and white rice. FYI, for all of you tofu lovers-they have that as an option too. Since I like spicy food, I also tried their hot sauce options to see if The Flame Broiler was bringing the heat. The reddish/orange hot sauce had more of a vinegar base and tasted similar to "buffalo sauce". The greenish/brown hot-hot sauce was a little spicier, and went well with the beef. Online, this place is classified as offering Korean style rice bowls. I am not sure I would agree with that classification, as I did not detect a Korean influence at all. If you can't tell-I am a fan of this place. I wish there was one closer to me in Northern California. However, since there a ton of locations throughout Southern California, and one in Las Vegas--I am sure I will be back soon. read more

UPDATE: Just realized I did not update on here after Steven replied to my yelp review. I want to state that Steven immediately responded to my concerns & reached out to make things right. I said ok, but it's only 6:44pm, so your telling me I can't eat outside? Both employees looked upset, but did bring out the tables & chairs for us. Horrible. Service was really lacking, the portions super skimpy and the food was really not great at all. So bad that I actually brought mine back, the veggies and rice both undercooked and cold, sauce nonexistent. Food took forever to come out and prices are high for what you get. I rarely rate fast food places, but this Flame broiler location deserves some recognition. We wanted something different from the usual Knott's Berry Farm choices so we took a short walk to FB. Anyway the food is typical of the other Flame Broilers but the service here is exceptional. Very friendly staff and the speed of the orders coming out was very good. I would say an average of less then five minutes. The food tastes very fresh and cooked to order. They are also very willing to substitute certain items. I love this place! I have been here twice now and each time it was amazing. I love the options, simple and delicious. This is my go to stop when i am at Knotts berry farm. I do not like the parking lot though. It is designed poorly and tough to get in and out of. The price is cheap and it is a good walking distance from the park or a quick bite as you leave the park. I got chicken and mixed rice last time I was there. My brother likes the beef and veggies. The customer service is not the best but for the price and location it is sure worth it. Never in my life have I seen such a disaster at a restaraunt. We had gotten Flame Broiler for my sister. As she was eating her bowl of chicken, I look away for a moment until I hear a gagging noise. My sister spits out a piece of chicken, and a little bug flies out of the bowl and into the lid. What bothered me the most is that the worker seemed unphased by the bug, and started making us a new bowl. I was disgusted, my sister didn't want to eat after what had happened. The location is a bit hidden between Claim Jumper and State Farm on the corner of Beach and La Palma. The customer service is decent. Nothing spectacular. You get a stamp card and after your fifth bowl you get a free drink and after your tenth stamp you get a free bowl. I ordered the beef bowl with white rice and green onions. It was $8.10. The food was good. Personally I think you could go elsewhere and pay less and get much more food. read more
