I've been coming here for years. Always good food and good service. The location is kind of small for those in large groups thinking about dining in

This is my first time in a physical restaurant for this place. My bestfriends always eat at this place in The Bay so they brought it to me once they found it in San Diego and brought me some. I believe I tried the rice, veggies, and beef bowl. I thought it was delicious and not too bad of a price. The veggies are good and the rice is nice and soft. For this particular restaurant, the place was very clean and the guy working the register was very courteous and amiable. I like that they have different sauces you can put on your food and they are now offering avocado. If I could find this close to San Marcos, I'd probably go weekly.

I am all about keeping things simple when it comes to food. I would prefer a restaurant to master a few options rather than offer a large selection of mediocrity. The Flame Broiler specializes in rice bowls, and they simply do it better than anyone else. The setup is similar to many other restaurant chains. All you need to do is pick your protein, add veggies (or not), and select brown or white rice. Sounds easy -right? The hardest choice you will need to make is figuring how much of their (appropriately named) magic sauce that you would like to consume. On its own, the beef and chicken are grilled to perfection, the veggies are blanched and tender, and the rice is what you would expect Calrose rice to taste like. However, when you toss in a boat load of their magic (teriyaki) sauce over the top- something amazing happens. The magic sauce transforms a "normal" (albeit good) rice bowl into a can't-miss attraction. Since it was my first time here, I tried the half and half bowl (chicken and beef) with veggies and white rice. FYI, for all of you tofu lovers-they have that as an option too. Since I like spicy food, I also tried their hot sauce options to see if The Flame Broiler was bringing the heat. The reddish/orange hot sauce had more of a vinegar base and tasted similar to "buffalo sauce". The greenish/brown hot-hot sauce was a little spicier, and went well with the beef. Online, this place is classified as offering Korean style rice bowls. I am not sure I would agree with that classification, as I did not detect a Korean influence at all. If you can't tell-I am a fan of this place. I wish there was one closer to me in Northern California. However, since there a ton of locations throughout Southern California, and one in Las Vegas--I am sure I will be back soon.

    Does anybody work here?

UPDATE: Just realized I did not update on here after Steven replied to my yelp review. I want to state that Steven immediately responded to my concerns & reached out to make things right. He mailed out vouchers to me & my family. We went back a few weeks later, & the experience was much cleaner & pleasant. I really appreciate Steven taking care of us & actually taking the time to reach out! Thank you! Plus the food was delicious! Way to go Steven! Disgusting to eat here. Gnats/Fruit flies everywhere! They were landing on me & my family's bowls like confetti! @I asked the employee if there was something they can do, & she said no. She then blamed it on having the Sauces on the counter & the hot weather....it's 6:30pm with a temperature of 72 degrees! I say ok, & decide to go sit outside with my family to eat. Well, 6:44pm & the employee had already put away all the tables & chairs. Mind you, when we arrived the tables were there, but while we ordered he put them away. I go & ask if we can't sit outside anymore? As they didn't close until 9pm. The employee says there suppose to put the tables & chairs away at 7pm. I said ok, but it's only 6:44pm, so your telling me I can't eat outside? Both employees looked upset, but did bring out the tables & chairs for us. I tried to explain to the employee that we just wanted to enjoy our food without the Gnats flying in or around our food, & outside there was none of that. He didn't care. I did not enjoy my meal at all. I wonder how many Gnats I ate today! BTW, the front counter was left unattended for a very long while.

This was my first time at this particular In-N-Out, but I've been to about twenty others and loved every one of them. The Buena Park location was as good as the rest. There was a long line at the drive-thru, but parking was easy and the actual restaurant wasn't that busy. We ordered and had our food within fifteen minutes, probably less time than it would've taken us to get through the drive-thru line. (I have found this to be true at almost every location.) Service was great, as always. In fact, my three-year-old dropped his cheeseburger on the floor after a few bites, and we got it replaced on the house, just like that. The kids also got little In-N-Out sticker activity books to play with, which kept them entertained for minutes at a time. I got my usual order, a double double with grilled onions and a heaping side of whole yellow peppers from the condiment stand. Pure deliciousness. My boys got a grilled cheese and a plain cheeseburger, and they both ate well. We got some fries, too, and while I'm not a particular fan of In-N-Out fries, I ate my fair share of them. We hit the bathrooms on our way out, as we had a long drive ahead of us, and I noticed the bathroom situation was less ample than the typical In-N-Out, maybe because this one wasn't right off the freeway (I do think the restaurant was smaller overall, but this was the only way that mattered for us). Just a couple of single bathrooms instead of the usual stalls, and we did have to wait to use them. In any case, this was an excellent, easy dinner, the perfect way to end a long day in Buena Park. I look forward to my next In-N-Out meal, wherever it might be.

It's the service that dinged the two points more me. I understand the drive-thru situation be cray with in-n-out all the time. However, the system for this drive thru made no sense.. They had 3 drive through lines that merges into one line. They have the one employee move the cones, direct the traffic, AND take the order. Made it super slow and took forever because this person would take 3 car's order in row one, then move them through move a cone to stop the traffic. Then go to the second row take the 3 car orders, move them through, and then move a cone. Repeat for row 3. So if you get there and are the third car in row 3, then you have to basically wait 8 cars before you merge. If that doesn't make sense, then I've explained it well because it didn't make sense to me. That just shows how complex the line was. On top of that the guy who took our order was pretty rude. The restaurant in itself was pretty small inside, but I mean this review won't change anything about this multi-billion dollar company. Still a fan, I have their cute socks that looks like the soft drink cups

When I pulled into the drive thru there was only one car in front of me. The line moved pretty fast and my order was taken quickly and accurately. The service was great. The cashier remembered all my requests when she handed me my food. I opted for a cheeseburger combo w/ grilled onions and extra pickles. It comes with fries and a drink. I always request extra crispy fries. I got a pink lemonade to drink to share with my son. The combo was $16.30. Not too bad, it's a lot of food. The burger was charbroiled and cooked perfectly. I love that they use shredded lettuce and their onions are actually grilled. Kind of like another establishment known for their grilled onions. The fries were extra crispy and nicely salted. The drink had to much syrup and even after diluting with a bottle of water, it was still really sweet. The ambiance of this place is casual and it has that typical burger joint feel. Soggy fried who knows what kind of cheap fish tacos smothered in a spicy sauce with watered down beans and weird rice. The beans were a mess, just horrible all around. Like something you'd see in a toilet. My friends each got French toast which was lukewarm and the bread was chewy and the bottoms were burned. 2 stars because the service was friendly and the restaurant was empty and clean. We ordered a half order of crispy chicken in garlic sauce, a pasta dish, kimchi udon, and sweet potato fries to share. While I liked that the garlic sauce was super garlicky, it was a bit too sweet for me. The pasta sauce was also on the sweeter side. It also took a while for the food to come out, but that is usually the case for Korean fried chicken as it takes time to double fry the chicken. The chicken was indeed super crispy and delicious. Sweet potato fries were yummy and the kimchi udon spicy but tasty. The interior was large, spacious, and bright. Prices were fair and portions good. I like how many sauce and chicken choices there are at Pelicana compared to some other Korean fried chicken chains. Overall, highly recommend Pelicana!
