I used to come here a lot about 6 years ago. I haven't been since then so my husband and I wanted to try it again. There's a Korean spicy chicken bowl he got and he couldn't even eat it. I consider it a treat to eat at Flame Broiler whenever I am in the Oakleaf area. They have 3 other locations in Jacksonville, but this is the closest location I can get to. I find it to be a healthy choice to eat at despite the chain being dubbed as fast food. No skin meat. It is not fried, and there are no trans-fat. The meats (chicken and beef) are all-natural. What more could you ask for? And there's something about their Magic Sauce, which you can you can add to the meats that just elevates the taste to a whole new level. So so delicious. The Flame Broiler was a huge disappointment for me. The rice was mushy, the vegetables had no seasoning and the meat had little to no seasoning. Their prices are strange for me as well but let me give you some advice; get the bowl and don't waste your money on the platter. I had more food in my container than he did. The only reason I'm giving them 2-Stars is because they have this sauce that they included in the bag and once you add it to your food it gives it life. Just wanted a healthy and quick meal. There were no customers in the restaurant.The employees acted irritated that I chose to eat there. I ordered two bowls with half beef, half chicken. It took more than 10 minutes to give me my food, with no other customers. The cost for two bowls was $25. I got home and started eating it and realized that some of my meat was completely raw. This was my first visit to Flame Broiler and it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the all white meat chicken bowl with brown rice and extra veggies. It was yummy. I put their signature sauce on it which made it even better. I wish I would have known that you could get green onions added but didn't see that until I was almost done with it. My sister ordered the half and half with chicken and beef with brown rice and extra veggies. She went back up for extra cabbage and they gave her some no questions asked. I'm pretty indifferent about this place. Didn't like it as much or hate it, just wasn't memorable. I had the beef bowl with steamed veggies and brown rice. I like the healthy concept and that most of the ingredients were fresh. The beef was a little dry and tough in my opinion. The flavor on the beef was decent but didn't remind me of any Korean bbq flavors. I tried the super spicy sauce and it wasn't spicy at all. I know it's fast food so I don't expect much but whoever the young lady who was working the drive thru taking orders and working the window tonight on 6/6/25 around 7:45pm should reflect on her character. She had glasses and was young maybe in high school or a little older. I Know everyone is different and not as friendly as me but she clearly just had an attitude. It started fine, pull up to take my order wait a few seconds, and then she tells me I can order when I'm ready so I asked for a bowl. She asked what kind of meat and rice I want. I let her know then she immediately asked for my sauce. OK, no worries. Still trying to add more stuff to my order because I guess I clearly did not state that I was finished. She immediately told me a price I nicely asked if I please to get a topping and a drink. The young lady then repeats the topping I asked for and tells me the price immediately after. I then chuckle a little bit and said can I please also get a drink. She then hesitates and says SORRY and then I tell her what kind of drink I want, and then she tells me the price again. I thanked her and pulled up to the window. I wasn't upset at all. I actually thought the situation was kind of funny and during the situation just figured maybe she was just getting ahead of herself, which is fine. We all do that sometimes. I pull around and she then opens the window. I greet her smile and say hi. And then give her my card. She just stares at me with a stank look on her face. I took it as she was upset that I wanted to complete my order? Not quite sure why she has an attitude, she Didn't repeat the total just takes my card. OK no worries. She then hand me back my card with the clipboard and I tell her thank you, still nothing from her just that same look and shuts the window. I sign it and then wait for her to open the window back up, she does to grab the clipboard she then handed me my food and I say thank you again, smiling at her And she just gives me the rudest look And didn't say a single thing... stayed silent during our whole exchange Besides taking my order. Not really sure why people are complaining about the limited menu. It's kinda refreshing to not be bombarded with hundreds of different menu items. Places that offer too much to choose from rarely nail their food because there is just too much of it. Too many recipes, too many ingredients and too many steps to be consistent. Overall you pick your protein, your starch and/or veg and whatever sauce you'd like. Oakleaf has no other drive through option other than burgers so this is a good change of pace. I've been here several times since their opening and I feel like they've finally worked out their kinks. Employees have always been nice, quick, and the food has been consistent. It's good. Doing it this way you're having your employees blatantly ask "do you want to leave a tip today?" so they can enter it on the machine inside to then generate the receipt. You used to just take the card, swipe it inside and hand a receipt like EVERYONE ELSE. This allows the customer to optionally tip privately and sign the receipt without some forced awkward conversation at your window, which, I'm sorry is the most uncustomary, uncomfortable, unprofessional ask I've ever seen. Because you ASK ME, and make it awkward and forced, my answer is no. I know it's fast food but come on....Be less ghetto. read more

What a pleasant surprise during a recent trip to this area. Some friends and I were looking for a quick lunch and spotted this place. We stopped a gentleman going in and asked if he had been there before. He said he had and really enjoyed it, so we decided to give it a try. The first thing you notice is the wonderful aroma wafting out into the sitting area. Selection is quite limited so if you're looking for a wide variety this is not your spot. But I will say the items they do have were very fresh and tasty. I selected a bowl with brown rice and veggies (you get carrots, cabbage, and broccoli) and a combo of beef and chicken. You can get all white meat chicken, beef, or tofu. My teen likes tofu and said theirs was quite good. You can also have white rice if you want and chopped green onions on top. That's it. That's their selection. (told you it was limited). Oh, they do have a "plate" which includes all the above and half an orange and some red slaw. The day we visited they were out of "plates" so were not offering that. Their sauces are out with little cups for use. Their "magic" sauce is what they marinate their meats in and it is very tasty. They also have three different selections of hot sauces ranging in heat levels. Small seating area and self-serve drinks. Their signage can only be seen if you're fairly close to them as they sit behind Zaxby's and in front of some empty stores. They do have a drive-through as well. read more

Didn't want to answer, didn't want to talk, and just overall very rude and very VERY unprofessional. Can tell she hates her job and hates every interaction she has with customers of any kind. Was going to be first time going but because of this, won't be going. If the front person who has all or most interactions with customers on phone or first impressions, what could the rest look like. This location opened a few months back and while I'm glad they offer something new & different for the neighborhood, I always leave feeling like something was missing. The bowls are pretty basic - chicken, steak or tofu, veggies (carrots, broccoli, cabbage and spring onions) over white or brown rice. Their sauce is pretty tasty and they offer some options to spice it up a little - but no scorchers here. Counter service is usually efficient & polite enough, but no extra effort is made. That kinda sums up the whole place - no extra effort. Flame Broiler has been open in my area for a while now, and I've been meaning to go that entire time. Originally, I thought it was some kind of burger place -- I guess I can blame Burger King for that or something -- but I found out that it's actually a healthy food chain, and that piqued my interest. It's also a fast-food type restaurant, with a drive-thru, but also a sit-down eating area inside. The menu here is extremely limited. They have rice bowls and rice plates -- that's it. Your options are white or brown rice, a choice of proteins, and vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, carrots, and green onions). They have "magic sauce" and three hot sauces available to mix in as well. And that's it. When I came in, I wasn't too impressed; it honestly reminded me a bit of a food court-type restaurant. But the food was luckily pretty good, light and healthy and tasty. We got the half-and-half bowls, with chicken and steak, and the meat was tender and had been marinated in the magic sauce. Was I blown away by Flame Broiler? Nah. It was good, but not amazing, and I think the food court comparison stands.
