I planned to do some shopping at Town Center so I stopped in to Flame Broilers first for dinner. They offer a healthy alternative to eating out. I ordered the bowl with chicken and steak, rice and cabbage, and I added some magic sauce. It was hot and yummy! The chicken and the steak were cooked perfectly. And even though I'm not a huge rice fan, I loved this bowl! The cabbage was fresh and a great addition. Service was friendly. They offered indoor seating and a few tables outside. It was a nice afternoon, so I sat outside and enjoyed my meal. I also ordered a side of two wings because I had seen pictures and wanted to know if they were the real deal. I did like the wings. I dipped them in the magic sauce. If you are looking for something different you found it. Just like the name says, everything is cooked over a flame. And I've always felt food tastes better over and open fire.

This is a no frills quick service option inspired by Korean bbq. I appreciate the freshness and simplicity that they offer with a protein + rice & veggies dish. Their magic sauce and hot sauces spruce up an otherwise ordinary meal. The meat picks up flavor from the grilling process too. While I typically order the chicken, this is one of the very few I've ordered tofu and enjoyed it. You can try half and half protein options as well. This location is tucked away in tapestry park and offers online ordering. It was very clean inside and quiet on a Saturday. It's an easy take home option or nice to enjoy on site.

Grabbed a quick lunch today, the half & half bowl with brown rice and veggies. The employee who took my order was really nice and I didn't have to wait long for it to come up. The bowl was pretty good. I'm surprised I actually ended up preferring the beef over the chicken, so maybe next time I'll just get beef. Adding the magic sauce (teriyaki) gave it an extra boost of flavor, especially the rice. My veggies were perfectly steamed. On my next visit, I may forego the rice and just get beef and veggies instead. They were my favorite parts of my meal. The portion size was good for the value. Overall, not bad. I enjoyed it.

We came here because we had coupons for a free mini bowl. I got a tofu bowl with rice and vegetables. I thought the mini portion was a nice size for a child or as a snack. The food itself wasn't anything special. It needed sauce for any kind of flavor. I ended up needing quite a bit of Buffalo sauce.

We have been wanting to try Flame Broiler for some time now and I'm so glad we did! Hubs and I both got the chicken bowls with brown rice and the veggies mix. It was delicious!! The flavor of the chicken mixed with the Magic sauce, seriously was magical!!! This is a healthy option for lunch or dinner, if you go easy on the sauce. The staff was super nice and the location was very clean! We had no clue they closed at 8:00pm on a Saturday (so sorry!!) but they did not rush us out at all! This would be a great choice for a quick lunch during the work week! Loved it!

Amazing service!! Food taste great and fresh. Really clean atmosphere!! Everything is perfect. Thank you!

Who knew something so quick, inexpensive and healthy would be so tasty! Haven't been here in quite a while and was reminded why it was on my weekly lunch schedule! It is so fresh and delicious! Gotta love the magic sauce too! It's a sweet juicy addition to your bowl. I went with my old faithful. A regular bowl with chicken and all veggies (no rice)! It was filling, healthy, tasty & has me drooling for a repeat again soon!

Ordering at the counter is the hip Millennial 1-2-3 step style: 1, pick your bowl size. 2, pick your carbs/veggies. 3, pick your protein. There is not too much variety: 3 sizes (plate size gets you a spoonful of raw cabbage plus half an orange for dessert). 3 carbs/veggies (white rice, brown rice or blanched broccoli/cabbage/carrot mix). 3 proteins (beef, chicken, tofu)...or a half/half. 3 types of sauces: hot sauce, hot hot sauce, "magic" sauce. Use the magic if you don't like spicy and prefer sweet/salty soy. The food comes quick. Perhaps too quickly. 3 minutes or less, which means the proteins are pre-cooked and sitting around. I found the beef completely overdone and dry. The chicken was tastier. 3 stars for the healthy concept. 3 stars for the half/half pretty good chicken and pretty flame broiled to death beef.

I have really been trying to stick to my New Year fitness goals and to be honest, the working out part of it is easy....it's the eating that always gets me! So in an effort not to sabotage my hour of hard work in the gym last weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to have lunch at one of my favorite healthy, fast food restaurants, Flame Broiler ! Yes, I said "healthy fast-food"! It does exist, let me explain! A few years ago, this west coast franchise made its way to Jacksonville and has been bringing us the perfect after work-out food ever since! So what makes them such a great choice after a workout, you ask??? Well, their healthy choice menu includes dishes free of trans fat, dairy, frying, and skin-on meat! You can even watch them prepare the food behind the counter and sure enough, there are no fryers, as everything is prepared on top of a flat hot grill! The menu is pretty simplistic with your choice of chicken, steak, or tofu for protein and veggies, consisting of cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. You also have a choice of brown or white rice and chopped green onions to top your meal, if you'd like. Always get the green onions! They add incredible flavor! Depending on how hungry you are, you have the size options of mini, bowl, and plate. My boyfriend, who always has a big appetite, got the plate size with half chicken/half beef and veggies over brown rice. With the plate size being the option with the most food, it also came with red cabbage salad and orange slices. I got the same protein in the bowl size! The only difference is that the orange slices and cabbage salad aren't there. You wouldn't miss it because that little bowl is packed with food! I actually couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The name Flame Broiler is totally appropriate for this restaurant because the meat has a nice flame-broiled flavor! Although the meat is tender and nicely charbroiled with a great taste, the sauces are not to be skipped! The magic sauce is my favorite! It's tastes like a combination of soy sauce and teriyaki sauce! We both doused our plates with it as it added an incredible amount of flavor! Hot sauce, sesame dressing, and Hot-Hot sauce if you're feeling froggy, are also available! If you're on a complete health kick, Flame Broiler now serves tofu. I'm not a fan but I know plenty of people who are! I sampled it and the flame-broiled flavor is definitely there. I just can't get with the texture. It's nice to know they have this option though. You can also request all white meat chicken. If you're watching your calories, this option gives you all the same, great flavor with 20 less calories!

Decided this one night that I'd eat something healthy for dinner as I was not up to cooking. I've had them before in San Marco and was glad that this location was on the way home from the Town Center. Went over on a Tuesday after Labor Day and they were not busy at all. In fact, I think there was only one person working there that I could see. He was very courteous and took my order of a Half and Half aka The Works plate: sauce-basted chicken and marinated beef with white rice, steamed veggies (broccoli and carrots), cabbage slaw and a sliced orange. Sounded good, smelled wonderful and tasted awesome. I did have to pass on the cabbage slaw as it was a bit too dry and raw for me. I'm not sure what the Flame-Broiler sauce is but I really liked it. The plate-size portion was just enough for dinnertime meal but not enough to be full or stuffed. Simplicity wins out on some nights and I'm glad I came here. I'd definitely come back.

I rarely eat a fast food meal and lose weight as a result. But that's what happened when I checked my weight the following morning. Great spot for inexpensive quick rice meat bowls, especially when you're on a diet. My friend from LA says it's Cali-style Korean bowls, but as I'm not from the Left Coast, I couldn't compare it to that. All I know is that the meat was nice and lean and the magic sauce was delicious. It's a simple meat/rice/green onions meal. They say No MSG, No Skin, No Frying, No Trans Fat. And if your food is not already cooked in magic sauce, it's gluten-free as well. I like healthy options and since this place is pretty cheap at about $6 a bowl. It seems small, but that thing really fills me up and lasted 2 meals. If you get the plate it includes an orange as well and it costs a bit more. The only thing is that my son asked for no onions on his dish and he accidentally got it. (Luckily, he was happy with it anyway.) And the woman who was cleaning up was pushy and rude when passing by us customers. Otherwise, friendly and helpful service and delicious food.

    The chicken bowl to go.

I just had to try this place, I drove by so many times now contemplating this no frying option. I finally can cross this off my list. I ordered the chicken bowl, I wasn't really impressed. I think the meat to rice ratio was not right. I wish they gave me more chicken. The chicken was so so, I could taste a little bitter taste from the broiling. But it had decent flavor. They are fast with getting your food to you I think I got mine within 2 minutes of ordering. Maybe I'll go back and try something else. Eating here made me Realize one thing: I like fried unhealthy food.

    Bottle of magic and love!

We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

The chicken was moist and dipped with the spicy bbq enhanced the flavor. All sides were seasoned well especially the green beans and collard greens. Cornbread was good, just note it does have jalapeños. I would say the only feedback was the brisket appeared to be more lean than moist. When we ordered the moist brisket a few weeks ago, it was a lot more marbled, looser and fattier than what we received in this order which was less marbled with leaner cuts. So it appears the staff may had gave the lean than the moist cut... Other than that, everything was good, but perhaps the staff could have additional guidance in brisket cut differences.

But that said, I tried a few places in the region and 4 Rivers is the only spot I'd repeat visit. Service is friendly and prompt, and they were helpful with putting me on their best items. The brisket was moist, tender and flavorful. The ribs? To die for. Best I've had in Florida. The burnt ends are a combination of brisket and pork, which compliments one another nicely. I loved the beans! The corn was the only thing I found lacking, tasted too much like canned corn for my taste. Their nice seating area is big and welcoming and they have numerous sauces for you. We really enjoyed the blueberry bbq over by the fountain drinks. It went well with the ribs! Overall, must visit for Jax! Thanks guys! See you soon!
