We had shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki, spicy salmon, and salmon and avocado rolls along with veggie spring rolls and shrimp shumai. Everything was fresh and made to order. Wait time was minimal, and the young man who took my order...

order was very polite and had a pleasant demeanor. As it was New Year's Eve, we did get food to go. However, they do offer dine-in service. It's not fancy, but it has a decent enough vibe that I would maybe dine in for lunch. All in all, the fresh, hot, and delectable sushi, spring rolls, and shumai (with fantastic presentation...sorry I didn't take pics) were the perfect meal for my daughter and me to bring in the New Year!

seasoning at home made it taste good. The side order of fried rice was decent, but some of it was undercooked and crunchy. They don't give a big portion of meat in the teriyaki either. My mom had about 9 or 11 thin pieces of beef which she didn't want to share. Lol. I managed to get a piece and it was decent. It could use more flavor, but it was hot, and the texture was good. The spicy mayo, eel sauce, and tetaki sauce I used made everything taste better!! The prices are pretty reasonable for sushi, appetizers, and teriyaki here, so if I'm balling on a budget this will do the trick. Check them out!!

bits of tofu, enough to have some with every bite and the seaweed isn't too overpowering. The teriyaki meals are also very filling. You can get either white rice or fried rice. You can also get veggies with it. The meat is always cooked to perfection, never tough or chewy. The meals are packed nicely in a brown bag with handles. They give you little containers of soy sauce, Wasabi and ginger...along with your napkins and chopsticks. They are on point with their covid protocols. No dining in at the moment, they have plastic barriers, they have hand sanitizer out for customers to use, and everyone wears their masks correctly. They are typically pretty speedy with their orders, too. From the time I place the order to pick up, it's usually about 15-20 mins. When super busy, I've had to wait 5 or so minutes extra...nothing crazy.

teriyaki chicken with rice for the kids. The portion seemed to be the same, but I feel they really held back on the sauce and I found it a bit dry. My kids love chicken and rice, so they ate a good chunk. If you don't plan on dining in, I'd call about 10-15 minutes before you plan on getting there for quicker pick up. Waiting isn't terrible as they have some booths for you to sit at. They don't offer military discount though.

First things first...the decor is nice modern Asian flare. The service was also spot on. Now... when I go to a sushi place I always check the rice ratio on the rolls. I ordered the "My All Roll & Side of "Shimp Tempora. The ratio of the "My All Roll" was perfect (see my pic) Plus it was pretty tasty. Now for the shrimp tempura.. I'm partial to Panko style breading that is fluffy and crunchy....well this was far from it . It looks like it WAS Panko but over fried. Plus where's the tempura sauce?! They don't carry Tempura Sauce..Sorry, but why serve "Tempura" if not "Tempura Sauce". Will not order that again. Other than that the sushi is great! I will stop by if I am ever around that area and try other dishes , but knowing me there's other places to try.

The lunch and dinner price is an amazing deal for 3 rolls of sushi! Always taste fresh and very filling. Service is quick and easy. The inside is clean.

We have been coming to this location for quite a while. It hasn't changed much and is very consistent on provided good food. The staff is always nice and the food comes out fairly quick. Only a few times has it bogged down, but I believe that is because everyone ordered at once. The inside of the restaurant does have seating and about 7 tables and a small bar area to sit at. The music isn't too loud also like some places. We usually get sushi and some chicken teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki is usually very tender and they will give you extra sauce if you ask. We are pretty simple with our sushi and stick to the Cali roll and shrimp tempura usually. Our child does love the chicken teriyaki roll even though it really isn't sushi. One of our favorite tempura rolls in the Superman roll which I do recommend eating while it is still hot. We did move further away from here, but we will for sure be back every time we visit our family over here.

Hella good eats. Cheap chicken teriyaki and pretty good sushi rolls. Definitely try the Fall roll and the Tiger roll. Been here many times throughout the years and it is always a certified banger. Quick and easy fast casual Japanese food.

Ew. Ew. Ew. I'm not sure this even qualifies as sushi. Nor does it qualify as fast casual. In the amount of time we waited, we could have easily sat at a nicer place with better sushi. I've never seen a cucumber salad that consisted of julienned strips of plain cucumber mixed with fake Krab with a mayo sauce drizzled on top. No vinegar. No sugar. Nothing. Just mayo mixed with something unidentifiable. I tried to get the Spring sushi roll, but they "were out" of seaweed salad. I'm guessing that doesn't get prepped daily. I substituted for the winter roll after I inquired if it was fresh crab and shrimp. I was told it was. The shrimp inside the roll were fine, but it was topped with more of that lovely Krab.. there was no Crab in sight. It tasted okay, but left a lot to be desired. Feel free to check out my photo of this stuff. Boyfriend got the 3 roll combo and both the tuna and salmon were lukewarm. Just ew. read more

I've always enjoyed picking up sushi at this location just because it's closer and they always have lunch specials even during the weekends. I was finishing up my Salmon Lovers order earlier when I bit down on a hard object. Later found this plastic thing rolled within the sushi! So disappointed and might have to think twice from ordering again. read more

Quick and easy sushi spot! I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars since the folks working here are very friendly and the service is pretty fast. The menu has a ton of sushi and teriyaki options, and the prices were very fair; Special Rolls were priced around $10, and their maki rolls [$4-5] and sushi pieces [~$2] were very affordable. Their $9.99 deal where you get 3 rolls and a miso soup is awesome. I love me some good deals! I ordered a Spicy Tuna roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and a Salmon/Avocado roll. The rolls were made and served fairly quick! You do get what you pay for though, and quality wise, I would say the sushi is probably a step above grocery store sushi. Although the rolls were made fresh, the rice was cold and kind of hard. The Spicy Tuna roll was seasoned well, but light on the filling. There was also a little too much spicy mayo garnish for me, but I don't mind indulging on that once in awhile. The Shrimp Tempura roll was definitely my favorite one. I would definitely love to give them a try again when I'm back in the area, it's too good of a deal to pass up! Maybe next time the rice will have a better texture. Either way, I'm very glad this is an option when I'm on a tight budget and I need a quick sushi fix. read more

Food is great, fresh & as fast as they can make it. They stay busy, a testament to the food & service in my opinion. They have a good lunch special 3 rolls for $9.99 with soup or a drink. I usually get this. My coworker often gets the chicken teriyaki & you can double the meat for only $2 which makes one meal last 2 days so that's cool. They have a dinner special 3 rolls for $10.99 as well & the line is out the door often. The young lady who is most often at the counter is super friendly & highly efficient doing 10 things at once & has never messed up my order. This is a great fresh sushi option. I have a coworker that was paying $6-7 for grocery store sushi (yuck) why?? When you can get 3 fresh made rolls for $10! This is a much better & yummy option. If you'd like some decent, very fairly priced sushi, and good chicken teriyaki, come here! Very quick service! This place is always so busy with to-go orders! The sushi special is $9.99 for 3 rolls (18 pieces) of sushi with a soda or Miso soup. The price for the dinner version (after 4pm) is just one dollar more. They also have regular and specialty sushi (like Volcano rolls) on the menu, which I myself have yet to try. I'm totally satisfied with the regular special. It's not the best quality sushi of course, but totally good enough! Again I say, come here for fast, cheap, and decent sushi! (My go-to by the way is a combo of the Philly roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and the Salmon Tempura roll!) read more

For my first time here, I wasn't impressed. I was ordering to go so I tried the 3 roll meal for $10 based on what other reviewers have gotten. You have to choose the rolls from a short list of variations of tuna, salmon, and cream cheese. I ordered the tuna/avacado, philly, and spicy salmon. Taking into account that it was to go, the sushi looked pretty average and tasted the same. The cashier was nice and brought out the order to me when it was ready. Overall, a good place to go to when you're on a budget and have a craving for sushi. read more

I went there tonight since it had such rave reviews.I ordered in I would not recommend it..It was a joke and a waste of my money for s#!t food..The tempura/salmon was full of grease..The batter nor the dipping sauce was done correctly.Never again !! If you think their food is good you have never eaten good Japanese food.Their food is expensive and junk. read more

Food is good but i waited over 50 minutes for two fried California rolls I've never had to wait that long when I order a lot more food I wouldn't have been sitting at the restaurant for over 38 minutes they told me would be ready in 15 but I do love their food! Just maybe next time a better estimate of time would be nice read more

Every time I've ordered from here they have my food prepared in a timely manner! Each time I've ordered here the order has been correct. They've always been nice to me and straight to the point, they don't try to charge you extra and they don't try to skimp you like other places. Their sushi is honestly really good and it's one of my staple items. Don't forget to try the Gyoza dumplings!!! In terms of a meal I personally get the teriyaki chicken with vegetables and noodles. It slaps every single time. I'm about to place an order as we speak lol. read more

Make sure you read the entire menu before you order so that you don't miss any of the specials. Husband really liked the spider rolls, but thought the California was nothing special. I don't like seafood (yes I know blasphemy) so I had the teriyaki Beef (asked for it to be spicy) and it was ok. I mean it tasted fine, but no wow factor. Prices were good, so we will go back, but its not anyplace we need to rush to. read more

I frequent Flaming Japan often and I always have a great experience. I think I love the price point a lot and I have never had a bad experience with the food or place so far! I usually do the lunch special ($5.99 for chicken teriyaki or the $9.99 18/piece sushi!) The sushi is pretty good for the price. One of my favorite spots for lunch. read more

Just found this place while doing some Christmas shopping and wanted to give my feet and my purse a break so I thought I'd give it a shot and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Tucked away in a shopping center this quaint, unassuming restaurant serves hibachi style food that you can get to go or you can eat in. We chose to eat in but beware this place gets packed fast. When we came in there were only two couples and while waiting for our food the place started to fill up. You have to place your order/pay at the register just like a take out place and if you're dining in they will bring you your food. I got shrimp teriyaki with rice and Napa cabbage. The food was fresh and a good portion for the price I will return I gave it a four because I wish the teriyaki sauce had more flavor. read more

Chicken Teriyaki is the best but I would never order with fried rice. Fried rice was very dry and hard felt like eating raw soaked rice. It was little better when food was still warm but hardly could finish half. Hope it would get better next time. read more

Nothing fancy here, just a few standard rolls, traditional Japanese (American) appetizers, and teriyaki. I got the dinner special, which is 3 classic type rolls of your choice (plus a drink or miso). One of the rolls I selected was tako (octopus)... I'm pretty sure it was calamari salad that they rolled into some rice. My son did enjoy his teriyaki udon noddle dish, though. read more

This is a great new Japanese/Sushi fast food dine in or take out restaurant. I went here to see what this place was about and to my dismay, I feel in love. I'm a big fan of Teriyaki dishes and Sushi and this place offers you this and more. Very fresh, the Sushi is not pre-made. 3 stars only because its not gourmet food but its good when in a rush and still taste good if you just get it to go, some food can only be ate right after its cooked this would be fine. Its a fine alternative to fried greasy foods of the competition. read more

Quickie Terriyaki!! We always ask for the chicken teriyaki, double meat, well done, extra sauce with veggies and white rice. It's very important to say well done. If you don't , the chicken looks too pale. And don't forget to ask for your free little container of yum yum sauce...so good. read more

Love this establishment. Close to my home and of course, the food is delicious. It's kinda pricey but what legit, good sushi place isn't, right? My favorite things to order are chicken teriyaki with noodles and extra sauce, and their Tiger, Volcano, Green Dragon rolls. Filling and abundant. They don't skimp. The food here really is local secret. It is quite surprisingly good. My favorite is the chicken tempura. The sushi is amazingly fresh and tasty as well. I keep their menu in my car so I can place an order and pick up on the wsy home. Good place for a quick bite! read more

Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list.
