We came here on a whim after a day visiting Virginia Beach. We were starving and the sushi place we were going to go to ended up being closed during regular business hours. We were starving and had 4 kids with us after a long day and this was the next closest sushi place. This is not a place you would typically bring small kids or a whole family group with strollers but they were luckily empty at the time and they completely accommodated us. Everyone was so friendly and the food was incredible. We got a bunch of sushi rolls to share. Definitely on the pricier end but it is because of the quality and the atmosphere which comes with great service. I would love to come back for a date night with my husband. Highly recommend!

Located at the La Promenade shopping center in Virginia Beach. This family owned restaurant serves fresh, quality fish that is sourced locally and internationally from Japan and other parts of the globe. I WAS BLOWN AWAY by Chef Watawaru's sushi creation and the superb freshness of his seafood. I was able to watch the chef first hand filet his fish. He showed incredible perfection with his knife skills and craft in his dishes. Upon casually conversating with him, I could tell he was a hardworking dedicated person who invested so much time and love into his restaurant. I made reservations for Valentine's day and was prepared to spend some money to enjoy my 3 course dinner. Our preappetiser just wowed me! The perfect bite.. was incredibly genius! The Tuna salad avocado on a chip was a tease that made me wanting more. On a regular they make it on the house with sushi-grade tuna.. they have a tuna salad roll, that is highly recommended. I ordered the hamachi ceviche and the chef's sashimi platter with the mochi ice cream for dessert for $80 per person. I also had their toro and uni which are my normal favorite go to selections for sushi. That is when I fell in love with the place. The entire meal was memorable. My husband ordered the ramen, but although it was a smaller bowl than he expected, he thought the broth was incredible. For the price you pay here, expect quality service, efficiency, and a perfect ambiance for a date night or business dinner. Room is limited so reservations are highly recommended.

Great food, even better service! Everything was excellent. Worth the price. Definitely going back!

    21. King Kong Roll. Sooo good. No rice - it's wrapped in cucumber.

How have I never been here!?! Hidden by a nondescript entry near Aldo's at The Promenade shops... I've easily driven past 100x and never knew this sushi haven was right here!!! Loved it. Very classy inside with a beautiful light-up white bar area and plenty of seating. Prompt and friendly service and great menu selection to please everyone. Lots of fabulous sushi rolls, including some low-carb veggie options as well as local options and the old faves (think California and Philly). We had a seaweed salad, a yellowtail tuna roll, and the King Kong roll which is a low-carb roll with salmon salad wrapped in a thinly sliced cucumber with no rice. Soooo good! This is going to be our new sushi date night spot for sure!!!

Very nice atmosphere, good for date night or other special occasion. Service was a bit slow at first - took a really long time just to come and take our orders. However after ordering the food came out very quick. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Highly recommend the shrimp crunchy crunchy and tuna crudo appetizer

I love the metal gear roll. The sliced beef on top of the crab is always so tender and flavorful.

That being said, I ordered from Sushi Vice. I'm not hating it. Before I placed my order with DoorDash, I actually called the restaurant and requested that they include cups of soy sauce and chopsticks, etc., because I was staying in the hotel. I only did this because if you order off DoorDash's menu, you cannot include Notes to the restaurant. It's ridiculous. With all that being said, I could not believe it when my order arrived it was exactly as I requested. It's not really a sushi joint. It's more of an Asian fusion type place and they have a very limited menu, but what they do have is very, very good. I highly recommend trying that beef fried rice thing. I've included a picture of it. It was freaking awesome. You won't be disappointed, but I would strongly suggest going to the restaurant and you'll probably even have a better meal. The next time I'm in Virginia Beach, which is quite often I'll probably just drop in to the restaurant myself.

The dining area inside is small, but it can still accommodate maybe one big group. There's also outdoor seating available. We came for an early dinner on a weekday, and it started getting busy pretty quickly. They were able to accommodate our large party inside since we had little kids with us, though we did have to split into two tables. Since we had small kids, the menu doesn't really cater much to them aside from the fried rice, but they were able to make a non-spicy version upon request. I did expect the food to be a bit larger for the price and portion size, so that was a little disappointing. The kids, however, enjoyed the fried rice, and you really can't go wrong with the drinks. Our tab came out to a little over $340. Overall, this place was just okay for us.

I ordered the spicy umami miso ramen with tofu, karaage, and a soft-boiled egg, and it was absolutely delicious--rich, comforting, and full of flavor. I'll admit I went a little overboard with the add-ons, but I was just too excited and couldn't resist. It's a hidden gem tucked into a shopping center and easy to miss from the main road, but there's plenty of parking and once you're inside it's much more spacious than it looks. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and everything came out fresh. Prices were very reasonable too, especially for the portion sizes and quality. There's also a wide menu beyond ramen, so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more. Before leaving, I grabbed a brown sugar boba milk tea too. I was already full, so I saved it for later--but even then, it was still really good. Overall, a great first experience--I'll definitely be returning!

I absolutely love this spot because it's never super busy, the ambiance is nice and the service is always great. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen w/Oxtail and an extra soft, boiled egg. It was served very quickly and it was great. The broth was savory, the oxtail was tender and the noodles were perfect. I ate the entire bowl. Unfortunately, a few hours later, I didn't feel that great. I'm not sure if the pork or oxtail were bad but something did not agree with my stomach at all. I felt awful! That was the first time I had that experience with their food so I don't want to count them out but it may be a while before I return.

We decided to give Saruki Japanese Hibachi a try on a weeknight and were seated after only about a five-minute wait. One thing we really enjoyed was having the hibachi table to ourselves. Unlike many hibachi experiences where you're seated with other parties, it was just my family, which made for a more relaxed dinner. Our chef was entertaining without being over the top, and the cooking was done well. The steak and scallops were both cooked perfectly, which we appreciated. The meal came with the standard vegetables, although we noticed there were no bean sprouts, which are common at many hibachi restaurants in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We also missed the traditional dipping sauces that usually accompany hibachi meals. Instead, we were served a mayo-based sauce that wasn't really to our taste. The staff was happy to provide Sriracha when requested, which helped. Service was decent, and the food was good overall. However, with restaurant prices being what they are today, the experience didn't quite stand out enough for us to make a return visit. It wasn't a bad meal by any means--just one that ultimately felt a bit forgettable. This version comes across as fair and constructive while still explaining why you likely won't be back.
