I had the worst meal here tonight and I've been going to this location longer than our server had been alive. I'll say since the 1980's. We were a party of five and ordered a shrimp appetizer and six garlic rolls. The garlic rolls are "world famous" and they are covered in butter and garlic sauce. These came out dry..they weren't burnt or not fresh, but they barely had any buttery sauce and that's why we order them. See photo. So we ate two of the six and I asked the server to please take them and put some more sauce on them. Well either he didn't know what I asked or the kitchen didn't. They came back out on a clean plate and maybe they had warmed them up but they were not more buttery. They are usually drippy and soft, really decadent. So the kids are them anyway...and then I mentioned that we would like them to get us six more and please make sure that they were buttery. They are normally worth the trip. Our meals came out and my daughters Mahi had a raw edge. We told the server and he called the Mgr over and then he loudly "whispered" to the manager that we had already "complained" about the bread and now this. Well it was rude and embarrassing that he would speak about us like that. So we had bread that was inconsistent from the past years and fish that was raw and it should be us who are blamed? We weren't asking for anything or trying to get a free meal. The manager wanted to comp the one fish and we said no. He kept insisting so we finally said fine but that wasn't our point. I like mostly well done food and anything raw or undercooked really bothers me. It was so unacceptable for this server to speak about us. Let's hope he learned not to do that because since he said it to the manager and the manager knows what we heard because he heard it too. I won't be back here for some time, if at all. I will mention that the manager did apologize for what had happened. Carlos the manager was very gracious. Andy our server wasn't. My rating would normally fall to a 4 or 5 for Flanagan's. Have been to Flanigan's before, but it was the first time at this location. When we arrived we were seated in less than five minutes and were greeted by our sever very quickly, which was nice. Our server was really helpful pointing out some things on the menu as well as going over some specials they had and taking a drink order. We ordered a full rack of ribs, which are always a good choice from here. Gotta love the ribs. We also had the blackened tuna hoagie. This was my first time trying the hoagie and I was really surprised on how good it was, very tasty. After coming to a few Flanigan's locations over the years they are always consistent on the food and service. This location is about 5 minutes away from the beach and as is a great choice after a long day in sun. Definitely give this place a try! read more

Unsure why this only has 3 stars. Ribs were really good, definitely recommend getting. Not dry, fell off the bone, seasoned and flavored well. Portions were very nice and service was great (Danny was awesome and so helpful). The wait was long but tolerable and they gave an accurate wait time. This is a neighborhood chain restaurant that gets very busy. On this Saturday night, there was quite a line to be seated with a 45 minute wait so we decided to check the bar. Two stools were open so it was dinner at the bar. The menu is the same from one location to another. Tonight, it was going to be the tuna steak with salad and loaded baked and baby back ribs with the loaded baked. Both were delicious... prepared exactly as ordered and plentiful. Great place for a quick sit down dinning experience. My boyfriend and I frequently come here during the week for their 'Joe Meal Deals'. Ten wings and a half of rank of ribs that both come with fries, a good sized Caesar salad, delicious buttery bread rolls, and a free drink in the classic big green Flanigan's cup that you can take home. Can't beat that amount of good food for the price and we almost always go home with a doggie bag. Location is on the smaller side but has always had good service. Don't dare complain about their fatty inedible prime rib!!! They cut you off ( 1 pitcher of beer and 2 glasses of wine) and ask you to leave. We love to go to this place during the week, usually there's little wait time. On the Monday that we went we were told 45 minute wait. It took over and hour. That's not the worst part, I order their famous meat falls of the bone rids. The ribs were stone cold and I mean cold as if they were just taken out of the fridge. Had to send them back, awful! So I'm new to the neighborhood and decided to check out this place right around the corner from me. Sad to say I will never be stepping foot into this restaurant again. I came in with my mom, and we ordered our food. 20-30 minutes after ordering they tell us they are out of what she ordered. The manger did offer us a free salad or soup in the mean time. But in my opinion should've been told to us right around as soon as we ordered it that it was out. My food was edible, the shrimp scampi but not enjoyable by any means. I So after all of this while we're waiting for our food, a roach runs across the table not once but three times. Kindly and quietly told the waitress and the manager moved us to another table. Still weary though. We get our food which is again edible but not good. Then we decided to order the brownie dessert to try to make up for our lack of food dinner. And it came out frozen cold and was supposed to be served warm and melty. So we get the check and the food that the restaurant was out of was still on the check and the salad that the manager said would be complimentary was also charged to us. VERY RUDE MANAGER - Linda Leanzo. Hostess at the front by the name of Madison is also very rude. We had a situation with them this evening where the manager told our children that they had too much sugar and that they had to keep it down... never coming to speak to the adults that were at the table right next to them watching her address our children very rudely. Meanwhile, the hostess was giving the kids mean looks. When I asked for the manager's name, she gave it to me and told me that we were not welcomed to return to the restaurant again. I then asked for the other manager, David Gonzalez, and explained to him the situation, to which he said what she had said was not correct and he would speak to her and and the hostess upon their shift ending and that I was indeed welcomed to return. Decent service, large portions of food. Known for their ribs, my mom got them and they were very smokey and pull off the bone tender. Dad got the surf and turf...steak was delicious and medium rare as requested. Steak had plenty of flavor, no sauces required. Sister had the seared Tuna with sweet potato fries. Both were amazing. I had the grilled Salmon with toasted sesame glaze, dirty rice, and coleslaw. The fish was cooked perfectly and the glaze was delish, not overly sweet. The rice and slaw were nothing to rave about. The desserts were huge, so we split Flanigan's Shenanigan: a slice of candy apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel, and Heath Bar crunch! Man oh man, was it good! I'd come back again. It was a cold night.... We already have drank enough at our previous stops... we were excessively happy to be at yet another stop during our night out. We wanted a late-night meal with cold drinks (but no more beer) and we wanted to have a good 'ol time of laughing. As we left 26 Degree Brewing next door, we knew it was probably best to not drive so as we crossed the parking lot we all looked up and saw what some would say was a Halo guiding us to our next destination... it was actually just their easily recognizable "street sign" with the picture of Mr Flanigan and his fabulous beard. We bee-lined it into their entrance.... * * * FLASH BACK * * * Years ago... well, many years ago... well, to be honest.... it was actually two decades ago, I used to frequent another location in Boca Raton on a regular basis for those rib, wings and drink specials. I remember every time I walked in I would think to myself "what a time warp"... 20 years ago it felt like the interior was severely outdated and the decor was "tacky" at best and yet it worked for the joint; always seemed comfortable and laid back.... almost as if the wood panels with mounted fish were coming back into fashion. I also remember every time you arrive you'd have to check the daily specials... and those daily deals were always good enough that you didn't have to wait for the "right day" because there was always something to interest everyone. * * * BACK TO 2016 * * * We enter those doors into Flanigan's and after being gone 20 years what do you expect... well, not the same decor as 20 years ago... I mean, 20 years ago the decor at Flanigan's felt 20 years old and now we are STILL stuck in a Time Warp... Still have wood/planks on the walls.... Still have polyurethane covered tables that are always sticky, even after cleaning... Still have photographs of great fishing from yesteryear... Still have tons of fish that have been mounted by a local taxidermy... Still have daily food and drink specials... Still have a great greasy food menu... Still have odd and fun junk hanging from the ceiling and nailed to the walls... BUT it still works. Maybe it works because their clientele are one generation older than me and they feel at home in a decor that peeked during their heyday.... maybe it still works because fisherman frequent this location and love to visit they prey mounted on the walls... or maybe (like me) it works because you don't have to worry about nothing... basically be yourself and everyone fits in. * * * THIRST RULED THIS MEAL * * * We were hungry but our group of 6 seems to really be craving liquid sugar... and I have no idea why. But soda was our calling. Remember we discussed those daily specials... well, they really do STILL exist. I noticed lunch specials, dinner specials, daily deals, happy hour and we even found some that fit right into what we wanted.... free chicken wings when purchasing a pitcher of beer or soda. I assumed our table would order two pitchers of soda and share the wings between all of us.. I assumed wrong. Five out of the six of us ordered our own pitchers with wings. Granted not everyone ended up ordering soda (we had a mix of soda, bubble water and iced tea) but what we did do was demand a lot of refills. * * * OUR PUBLIC APOLOGY * * * I think it depends on where you are and who is your server that would determine if our group was just a "fun group" or we were an "unintentional, obnoxious group"... luckily for us Flanigan's seems to know how to handle any group with any mood. Our server Mary was phenomenal and patient and frankly had a giggle or two at our expense. Sorry Mary if we tried you patience but know this dear, you're the best ! Not to mention, she topped off our drinks and provided us lids for the road. * * * FOOD FOR THOUGHT * * * Our "free" wings came Mild, Medium, Hot or BBQ... we went for the BBQ and even though I do like sweeter type BBQ sauces, this sauce was too sweet... almost teriyaki style BBQ; too sweet and we couldn't finish them. I also had a Caribbean Burger... I ordered it because I wanted a dive-bar style burger with cheddar and bacon and the Caribbean Burger was the closest thing to that... the only difference was the addition of caribbean sauce which was just another version of BBQ sauce. The burger was good but not great... * * * BOTTOM LINE * * * Decent dive bar food (remembering that my opinion of dive bar food is okay at best) but it was our server Mary that made my night and that decor that can only work if you are located in Key West or if your company name is Flanigan's. read more

Flanagan's is a place I've driven by tons of times and never tried and then the other night a group of us ended up here. The decor: wow. It's like a hillbilly mancave in there and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Girls photographed wearing bikinis and holding fish, huge fish on the walls, sports games being played on every tv- all you needed was a pick up truck and the Eagles playing. The menu was huge and every night there is some type of huge special. I will remember the free nachos on Monday when you order a pitcher. I ordered wings and fries and an iced tea. The fries were so good- very salty though if you're not into that. Cooked well down. The wings were just ok. The bbq sauce (you can also get mild, medium or hot) was sweet but I wasn't crazy about the overall flavor. I can't truly describe it, but they were just ok. I'd get the wings again sure, but would do a different flavor. The real star of the review is our waitress Mary who would have bent over backwards for us if we asked her to. I've never had a more attentive server. I feel like she did 10,000 running back and forth getting refills and anything else our party of five asked for. I would come back here solely to be in her section. The food may not be the absolute best, but it's definitely reasonably priced which helps. Mary herself gets 5 stars. This is a great location, always decorated to the fullest with whatever current festivities are in the season. There aren't many options in east Pompano for late dinners or drinks so Flanigan's totally rocks! They serve until around 1am. The bartenders are friendly, especially Fred, he's a cool dude. By no means is this gourmet food, this is a chain casual place, I have to laugh when I read reviews about people complaining about their Pasta dishes not being great, this is Flanigan's! Their specialties are beer, drinks, wings, ribs, burgers and the delicious curly fries! Don't come here expecting your pasta to taste Italian authentic, better yet skip the pasta and get the specialties I mentioned above. Also, their prime-rib is pretty good. Flanigan's is a big chain and though any restaurant that's part of a big chain spooks me, I generally like the ambiance and fun type atmosphere of most Flanigan's, with this location in particular. The décor is clearly nautical, plenty of fish mounts, memorabilia, some kicky looking surf boards, mellow lighting and a warm wood panel interior. Basically a décor and place conducive to enjoyable good times and fun. I've also always found the service to be exceptionally good. The food however is another matter. Passable, sort of OK, but that's about it. I had a number of their fish dishes which were OK, but nothing special or unique. During my last stop, which was the basis for this review, I went for their best known dish, the one they prize themselves about, being their ribs. They were certainly meaty and as advertised did indeed have the tender falling off of the bone quality about them, but to my taste rather tasteless, bland, without any smoke flavor or barbecue quality. Then if you try to pep it up a bit, you'll find that they only have one squirt bottle of sauce on the table which doesn't accomplish anything since it's basically a sweet sauce lacking in zest. The bar drinks I've had are all rather good and I note that they generally use a better quality of booze for their standard or well drinks than do many other establishments. Better yet, they have a decent price reduced happy hour. Because of the food, I could never be much of a fan of Flanigan's, only going Two Stars. But, with their fun like décor, good service and rather decent drinks, I'll stretch it to Three Stars which is just saying they're OK, but not exactly an "A" OK; just an OK. read more
